Azucarmoreno says "The Future of Communications is Here!!!" about Vonage

Vonage will work best if your broadband provider has reliable service! VOiP is the future of communications and Vonage offers the best service in that technology. I have been a happy Vonage customer for over 2 years now and my service has been reliable.

I love that all of its features are inclusive of one set low monthly price, all domestic long distance calls are inclusive; the best yet is their low international rates sometimes even free depending on the country -- Canada, France, Italy, Spain, Germany and the UK are FREE!!!

I call Latin America and Asia and the rates are so low that it is almost ridiculous. Some countries have rates as low as ONE PENNY a minute - No other phone company or VOiP company will offer you such low rates. The one thing to keep in mind is that the rates will be higher if the international number you are calling is a Cell phone as supposed to a landline.

There are many neat features that only Vonage offers. For instance, instead of call forwarding to one...
...

WE have been with Time Warner Cable for several years now and added the phone service and DVR. Wow what a deal! I especially like the phone service because I can talk to family and friends out of state free anytime!!! Never have to worry about running up the bill. It is truely wonderful. Occassionlly when we have trouble they are there for us by phone, internet or right at our door. Never, never charge for coming out to fix a problem or talk you through it on the phone. And that DVR is addictive! One of those thing yu can't live without once you have it, like a microwave! ha! Thanks Time Warner!...

VixenViewTreasures says "Not the ultimate answer yet - Waiting to see if it has potential" about T-Mobile @Home

In comparison to their cell phone service, their at home service is not as great - perhaps since it is still so new, they are working out all the bugs. However, I am saving a lot over traditional land-line service, so I will stick out my contract and see if I can fix the glitches having VoIP caused. At this point I'm not sure I could positively recommend this product. I will see how things go over the course of the next year and change if needed.

PROS: If you already have the cell phone plan, your home phone is only $10.00 per month, for us that's a savings of over $240 per year. Long distance is included in the $10.00 per month charge - saves us from having to use the cell phone for everything.

CONS: uses your computer line so it disrupts other phone related automated items, *requires an additional router, customer service for at home is not as good as the cell phone customer service, At home customer service promises things that are untrue (for instance: 911 fee is included with......

panahonee says "VONAGE - TERRIBLE !! Explains it all!" about Vonage

Vonage Phone Service

Pros: it is cheap and you get what you pay for

Cons: Customer service is terrible, phone service is on again off again. The customer service line is useless. They leave you on hold for 30 minutes plus each time and do not solve your problems. Even if they are wrong they will charge you.
Summary: This company does not provide the service they promise. They don't stand behind their product and when you try to cancel they will leave you on hold for an hour hang up on you and still charge you a disconnect fee of $39.99 that they do not disclose. Be sure to get written confirmation of your disconnection or they will not disconnect and will not refund your money....

This company offers a very inexpensive fee, but the quality of the voice over the network is the WORSE, and their customer service is so bad, sometimes you cant even understand their really heavy accent. I finally got rid of the service, but was charged $90 to disconnet. Oh, and calls get dropped all the time. Trust me, you dont want this company...

Hi,
Today i received the magic jack for 39.95$ with a shipping charge of 6.95$.I got the information about this from my friend. So i made the first call from it to my friend. To my surprise he said that the product is not as much as he expected.
During talking there is a time lag between the conversations. It takes time for the caller to receive the recepients voice and vice versa.anyway i'm too early to comment much on it.i must give another look at it and then my opinion might change.
Regarding the good points.it is too good to have a 1 yr free outgoing to all us and canada calls for 40$,but i think skype also gives unlimited calls throughout US for 2.95$/month.So choice depends on the user.
But the main advantage is we can use it anywhere in the world. So i think it is a offer for he non americans rather then the americans,as international calls are free to US from the rest of the world which otherwise would be very costly.
So decision is yours
Regards,
sexyrascalindia
...

topking says "Total lack of customer service" about Vonage

I started using vonage because the service was priced well and had a lot of options that came along with it. After repeated call to there costumer service about echos and low call volume they never came up with a good solution for me . So i switched to a triple play package offered by my cable company and call to cancel my service. When canceling they gave me the run around for about an 30min. Then asked me if i was still wanted to cancel my service and that i would have to pay a service fee of $200 for the early termination charges. I said no so they told me that i need to wait till august to cancel my service then. So i waited and when august came around i called back they did the same song and dance as last time and told me i had to wait till the 1 year anniversary date of my service. So i did and when i tried to cancel my service on the date they told me to call back. They billed me for the next month use and told me that i have to pay a 39.99 cancellation fee. So when it was all......

I believe that T-Mobile @Home is amazing. It helps you save money. By only paying $10 a month for a home phone service, it really beats having to pay hundreds of dollars when everything now and days is so expensive. It really is a helpful way of having a phone when you don't need fancy add-ons to the phones....
I've been using the MagicJack for several months now. The quality has been inconsistent so I was about to just throw it out of the window... then, I realized, the only time I have quality degradation problems is when I am dialed into a Goto Meeting conference call. I believe the VOIP over VOIP leads to degradation of quality.

Since then, I have been using a conference # that isn't VOIP driven and have had no issues... I plug the MagicJack into the base of a Uniden cordless phone and can roam all over the house without a problem.

I am a little annoyed that I have to enter my user/pass frequently and the device is sometimes buggy, but overall, it has already paid for itself and I now know how to keep it working for me. I would recommend it as a supplementary line to a cell phone due to some reliability concerns at critical times.

...

I don't know what I was thinking adding Time Warner Cable's digital phone service. I was already unhappy with the quality of my cable, but the Telemarketer that called convinced me that I'd save a lot of money by switching. So I gave up Embarq phone service, which I was very happy with, to save a few dollars and have digital phone installed.

What the telemarketer didn't inform me was that I would be paying out a $ 70.00 install fee!! No one told me about that, so imagine my surprise when I opened up my first bill. Ouch. Secondly, MY TELEPHONE HAS HORRIBLE CONNECTION NOW! Before installing the digital phone I had crystal clear connection, no it sounds like I'm talking in a wind storm. The connection is fuzzy, and every so often the phone just disconnects in the middle of my phone call. Other times, I'm unable to pick up the phone and dial a number. I have to hang up, dial, hang up, dial.....until I get a connection that actually works.

I called Time Warner to let them...
...

vanheve2 says "Poor billing system killed the deal" about T-Mobile @Home

I have a Family Plan with 5 lines (Base Plan and 3 add-on lines).

When I went to a T-Mobile Corporate store to sign up for @Home Service, we found out I cannot order the service. Seems that since they are adding this as an additional cell line in the system, I cannot get it.
They cannot add a 6th line to a Family Plan, so to get the Home service, I would need to start a new account of $39.99 or higher, or get 2 Family Plans and put 2 Cell lines on one, and 3 cell lines on another.

So, in the end, I would end up paying at least $40 more a month and have 2 Family Plans.

Sounds like they need to make some changes to their billing system rules.....

Overall, cheaper to stay with AT&T CallVantage with unlimited calling at $25 a month than get 2 T-Mobile plans.
Great idea, poor ordering system....

Vonage claims it is a "pay as you go" service without complex contracts. Read the fine, fine print.... they charge you an early termination fee if you close within the first year. What's worse, this company doesn't bill you, they simply use the credit card information that's required when you open an account. What's worse worse, they don't even tell you about this early termination fee until seconds after they disconnect your service. I called to cancel early in the month. Not only did I get charged for the WHOLE month (no pro-rating), but they literally cut service the second I hung up with them and refused to provide me with service for the remainder of the month (that they charged me for). Absolutely rediculous service -- I now click on EVERY Vonage web ad several times, until I have costed them well beyond the $40 "early termination fee."...

I have had Vonage Phone service of a year now. With Family all over the US it is great to know that I can call any of them any time I desire. With the economy the way it is the price is a great turn on. Our Internet providers services is poor, but this only effects the phone service slightly. If the internet is down the calls get forwarded to my cell phone. The quality of the call does seem to vary with the weather. Very hot days 90+ the calls are somewhat scratchy....

You can't beat the price, for service, convience, and features. I ran into some problems with with lightening storms and the router, but Vonage credited my service, and replace the router, which was free from the beginning. With the new router, I discovered I now have wireless as well. No additional charge. Where else can you call 24/7 to all 50 states, and Canada, plus parts of Europe for under $28.00 per month which includes all taxes and fees. The rate has not changed since I first signed on. I also like the additional feature, that can allow you to have a "virtual number" so a long distance family member or friend can call you as if they were making a local call....
