I was referred to this site via my yahoo email account and thought that maybe this could help me find a job, but to my dismay, this was not the case. Unless you have a college degree or higher education, this site is not for you. I would recommend the site, indeed.com in which you you type in a key word (for instance, clerical) and enter your zip code, city or state and you can find any and all jobs...

JovialCougar says "Looking for work? CareerBuilder.com can help." about Careerbuilder

Are you tired of you current job? Are you ''between careers'' and need to find employment quickly? CareerBuilder.com, which is a free internet-based tool, can help you find employment opportunities across the country. I used this site in 2006 to find a job and, after recently moving to a new city, am using it again to find a better employment opportunity. — CareerBuilder.com allows you to search for employment opportunities in specific areas (cities, zip codes), and offers several dozen different career categories from which to chose. Once you sign-up you can search through the job listings that are presented and save them, so you can refer back to them at a later time. — The employment opportunities are presented in a list showing the job title, city, company, and the date the job listed was posted on CareerBuilder. If you click on the job listing it will display additional information about the job, such as job duties, requirements, how to apply (usually a web...

RecruiterDan says "Offers jobs from 1500 recruiters-all fees paid by employers" about TrainingJob.com

Trainingjob is unique. It only offers listings of jobs from headhunters aka recruiters. These recruiters are paid by their client companies. At the present there are 1500 recruiters banded together in the Network that posts these jobs to Trainingjob. Jobs are of all types and locations from engineering to sales to accounting and manufacturing and IT. — The main advantage to this site is that the postings are fresh, they are for real, and they are hot jobs. Any client company that asks a recruiter to work on a 30% contingency fee is serious about wanting that job filled as soon as possible. Since the recruiter is working for free until they fill it, they make sure the job is worthy of their time too. It's a win win for candidates and employers to use recruiters. — Finding listings of jobs from recruiters is difficult. They are usually mixed in with all the rest of the jobs online, some from employers directly and others from unknown reporting...

shadowshopper.com — Okay so there are many many "mystery shopping" companies out there. I found one, after doing multiple research, that really works. Shadow Shoppers is a site that is used to "network" you with companies that are seeking mystery shoppers. — I joined about 4 years ago. I paid $100 for the membership. In one week I made my $$ back by doing things that I do everytime I shop. Evaluate customer service!!!!!! — Ask me more I will be more than glad to share and answer questions. — This is how it works: — 1) go to the site shadow shopper website — 2) you can either sign up for free alerts or pay for the membership — 3) there are questions asked about your shopping experience. What I tell everyone that has never done mystery shopping, "yes you have" How long have you been a shopper? How many times there has been an outstanding display of service or a terrible experience at a store, restaurant, fast food etc?" How many...

NikiTaylor says "A Site for Writing Women" about Women on Writing

This site is for writing women even though I don't think men will get an electric shock if they visit. They have the most colorful newsletters with lots of pictures. The newsletters are full of encouragement and girl power as different female writers provide articles and interviews. Hope Clark from Fundsforwriters.com(I have reviewed that) has a column about her specialties. The newsletters include contests on the site, markets, and blogs. The site is fairly new, but they are proving to be a wonderful resource. New writing sites seem to pop up every day, but this one looks like it's in for the long haul. —...

NikiTaylor says "There Is Never Too Much Freelance Writing Information" about Writing World

Writing-world.com is undergoing changes as Moira Allen gives up the website, and Dawn Copeman takes over. If you go to the writing books section in a bookstore, you are likely to see a book by Allen as she has written books about how to be a freelance writer. Newsletters arrive monthly with a message from the editor, writing news, and articles. An interesting section is by Copeman who asks a question about writing and prints reader responses in the next issue. I've had a response published, and I always like to see my name in print! A recent question was "How do you write if you have disabilities?" Copeman is taking over because Allen is devoting herself to fiction. Copeman has proven her abilities on the site, and maybe one day, Allen's novels will be in the bookstores along with her nonfiction books. —...

NikiTaylor says "We Don't Have to Be Starving Writers." about The Well-Fed Writer

The image of the starving writer has always been prevalent, but Peter Bowerman shows on his site that copywriting can keep writers very full. He wrote a book about how to get started in copywriting called The Well-Fed Writer, and his site has the same name. He puts out a monthly newsletter with tips on marketing, success stories, and other things for writers to feast on. — Bowerman is a successful copywriter himself, and he shares how he became a success. Writers, especially fiction writers, have to struggle to be published, but writing marketing materials for companies can be faster and more lucrative. Bowerman not only emphasizes the salary part but also the freedom of being your own boss. Of course, it takes hard work to be a copywriter especially for those who hate to cold call potential clients, but writers with a knack for business may have a feeding frenzy with this. —...

Worldwidefreelance.com has an international feel as it represents writing markets in different countries. Markets are in Europe, Australia, Canada, and other places. The markets include magazines, newspapers, and publishers. There are free emailed newsletters once a week with a message from the site's owner, markets, and an article. People can pay to subscribe to a market database on the site. This site allows writers to publish in other countries. I've been published in other countries, and there has been a little payment confusion with currency conversion, but with Paypal, it all works out. Publishing competition can be tough in the United States, and it doesn't hurt to branch out. —...

For writers who are interested in academic jobs, residencies, and literary journals, this is the site for you. Erika Driefus runs the site, and her monthly newsletters always have interesting information. The newsletter has an article, contests, submission alerts, and conferences.
ctrymuziklvr says "THE best online search engine" about chacha

Chacha.com is the online search engine I use most but the best part for me is that I am also a guide there and make awesome money every week! Most of the searches I get are from kids who need help with their homework and I find sites to send them that will help them with whatever subject they are working on at the time. The idea of the site is to help people who either are not computer/internet literate or just don't have the time to do searching on their own. Chacha recently started a sms search program for people who want to do their searches through texting and that seems to be going really well for the company. They are continuously coming up with new ideas not only to help the public with thier searches but helping the guides who work for them earn more money....

Krista Barrett sends out weekly email newsletters about freelance writing. She is Canadian, but thanks to the Internet, freelance writing is universal. She starts the newsletter with writing news and personal news about her two children and her baby-to-be. A great thing about the newsletter is the section where you can promote your projects. Just send Krista an email about your project, and she will put it in that section. I don't know of any other newsletter that does that. Getting free promotion is very rare. — Her job list is extensive, and there is a contest section too. The only thing I don't like is she solicits donations. She's not the only one to do this, but I don't think it should be done unless it's for charity. Other than that, I look forward to this newsletter full of helpful information. —...

Writer Jenna Glatzer started absolutewrite.com years ago, and although she has given it up after having a baby, the site still runs along smoothly. It has three newsletters: a general one, Absolute Markets, and a premium edition which is by paid subscription. The general newsletter has an editorial and articles from various authors. There are also contests and links to the forums which is about every kind of freelance writing imaginable. Writer news, a writer's prompt, and reader requests are also in the newsletter. The markets newsletter has just what it says writing markets including foreign ones. The premium edition has freelance writing jobs galore. It takes a while to read that one. The website has an example of a book proposal by Glatzer, classes, and writer's guidelines for those who want to write for the newsletter. MacAllister Stone is the editor-in-chief who replaced Glatzer, and even though it takes getting used to, the change in management has not affected the newsletters....

The website offers three free newsletters: a general newsletter, a newsletter for lower-paying markets, and a newsletter for young writers. There is a also a newsletter a subscriber pays for to get more markets and grants. — Clark gives a boost in the beginning of the newsletter with her editorials. Basically, she tell us to write and not to whine about it. Then there is an inspirational quote and an article either by Clark or someone else. The general newsletter has competitions, grants, markets, jobs, and publishers/agents. A retiree, Clark has a second career as a writer of magazine articles and books. Now she is writing fiction.

Writersweekly.com is a newsletter for freelance writers run by Angela Hoy. Hoy and her husband run a self-publishing company called Booklocker. This newsletter is just chock full of stuff. Not only do they list jobs and magazine markets, they have forums, contests, and articles. Angela writes a column about her home life and a column about some aspect of freelance writing. Since she is a mother and a business owner, she has plenty to write about. They have been going on RV trips lately, and readers can read about that and look at pictures. — Angela is an advocate for writers getting paid so there is a forum for those who are owed money. They pay writers to write articles for the newsletter, and they are easy to work with. I know because I've had an article published there. The newsletter comes out every Wednesday. With the isolation freelance writing can bring, it's good to have this site. —...

I've been on a job site reviewing kick lately. The latest is a blog called http://www.freelancewritinggigs.com/ run by Deb Ng. There are job lists that link to various sites like Craigslist. The jobs may indicate the location or pay. It is more than just jobs though. Ng writes editorials about the writing life, and there are guest editorials. She writes for different blogs, and this is a good resource if you want to know more about blogging for pay. Blogging is the new frontier in freelance writing. Viewers are allowed to comment, and the comment sections are usually pretty active. The contest for the person with the most comments might have something do with it. The prize is a gift certificate. — Ng also offers cover letter clinics where readers send in cover letters to be critiqued. The critiques have been good so far as people including Ng comment on how to strengthen the cover letter. A funny part of site is the reader mail section.
NikiTaylor says "A Few Years Ago, This Site Would Have Gotten One Star. " about Guru

Guru.com is an online job provider for freelancers who want to work from home. Although they have jobs for different positions such as website designers, I always look for freelance writing jobs. Years ago, I signed up for the basic service where I would pay Guru a percentage of my earnings. There are services on Guru where you can pay fees, and you have more access to jobs and other perks basic members like me don't get. I have heard mixed reviews about this. This review is just of Guru's basic membership. — If I had written this review a few years ago, I would have been highly dissatisfied with Guru. There was a project I did a little work on, but I never heard from the client again and got no payment. However, almost two years ago, I got a great job writing literary guides about books. This was so ideal for me. As a book reviewer and bookworm, getting paid to write about books especially books I adored was a dream.

As a freelancer, I'm always scouring the Internet looking for jobs. I have been very fortunate this year with jobs including this one, and I have http://www.aboutfreelancewriting.com/jobs/currentjobs.htm to thank. Because of this site, the sayings "my cup runneth over" and "when it rains, it pours" apply to me. A lady named Anne Wayman runs it, and she sends out email newsletters three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday to notify when the jobs are up. There are also articles related to freelance writing on the site. Most of the jobs are related to freelance writing, but there are jobs for translators, virtual assistants, and jobs in the film industry. — There are links on the site which lead to other jobs sites like Craigslist and journalism jobs. Of course, especially with Craigslist jobs, job seekers should check who the employers are because there is more of a chance of online employers not paying.
