fp says "It's a very well marketed store, but what about the prices?" about Williams-Sonoma

I have been to many William-Sonoma stores and I have even purchased a few things from there, although I will proudly admit all the products I have purchased were on sale. I love and have Le Creuset products, cook books, Henckels knives and Calphalon cookware sets and a few more items. But I have purchased none of those from there (with the exception of Lidia's Family Table cook book, on sale for 14.99), I would have paid at least twice the amount that I actually did pay. Macys offers almost all of the above mentioned products for a fraction of the price. Please do not get me wrong, I do enjoy going into Williams-Sonoma and looking around, it makes me feel like I am a better cook by just being there. But even the Williams-Sonoma branded cook books can be found a deeply discounted prices at such places like Costco and overstock.com. With the exception of I would say less than 15%, all products in Williams-Sonoma can be found in other stores,...

I'm not much of a cook, so I don't tend to spend much time shopping for kitchenware. Even when I am in the market for bakery items and cookware, I usually only visit online retailers that offer great prices or deep discounts. Imagine my surprise when a search for a ceramic grease strainer brought me to Williams-Sonoma (Williams-sonoma.com) Williams Sonoma has a well-deserved reputation as being a provider of classic, functional products for serious cooks and bakers. The higher-than-average price tag on most of the inventory reflects the quality of the merchandise. — When I clicked on the item I was interested in, I was stunned to find that it was actually affordable at only $15. At a store where a pie dish can set you back almost $50, I was glad to discover that the site contains at least a few items that are not overly expensive. — In addition to the product I purchased, Williams-Sonoma sells products related to bakery, tabletop,...

I found FLYLady's website by happenstance and Divine Intervention. I knew HOW to clean, but never got into the habit of actually DOING it. My habits revolved around cleaning up a giant mess, being tired of cleaning that much, and leaving it for a while....only for the cycle to go around and around like that all the time. Most of us were taught to clean it right, clean it all, and clean it till it was done right and completely in the first go-round. That mentality simply does not work for everyone. Your mother's way and your grandmother's way of doing things is not your way of doing things. It can be done differently and still achieve the same result. — The website was recently updated and is a little more streamlined. The services on the site are free because members support the operating costs by buying products offered in the FLYShop. There are also local yahoo groups so you can find fellow FLYLady members closer to home. —...
