bvriley says "What a loyal, lovable and fun family member !" about Dog German Shepherd Mix

We got Mollie about 2 years ago from the Humane Society as a puppy. Mollie is German Shepherd /Rot mixed. She was the last one left in her cage and my son spotted her right off the the bat as we walked through the kennel area. We were interested in another dog that we had seen but decided to walk through any way. My son saw her and I guess you could say it was just meant to be. I ask the care taker to take her out and when i put her in my arms i just knew that this was the dog for me.

She has been so loyal, lovable and just a joy to have around. She is gentle with our other older Wired haired fox terrier and loves to play. When around kids and other people she has a kin sense about her as to know what they need. Don't get me wrong she also knows somehow when there is a stranger around or someone that is just not that kind.

Mollie was easy to train compared to Abby(wired Haired Fox Terrier) .

I would recommend and dog that is a German Shepherd mix, especially one that is from a shelter....
...

drnorton2u says "Comfortis saved my poor dogs from an itchy existence!" about Comfortis

This is absolutely the best product I have ever used for flea control. I am 32 years old and have had dogs all my life. Since we live in Florida, fleas are a year-round problem to manage. We tried everything on the market. Not only did the medications not work well, but they left goopy, slimy areas of poison on their backs that smelled bad and got on the furniture. We even had the pest control people coming to our house monthly doing inside and outside treatments and we still couldn't get a handle on the fleas from our 3 dogs. Not only were we miserable, but they were too... constantly scratching and chewing - not a great way to live.

Finally, the vet told me about Comfortis. The only downside was that it doesn't kill ticks, but we really aren't in an area that the dogs come into contact with ticks. I figure, if we go camping or something, we can put a tick collar on them. Perfect!!! We have been using it for almost a year now, in combination with Sentinel (which makes any fleas that do...
...

Scruummptiousweets says "Easy Flea Prevention with added bonus" about Revolution Flea and Tick Treatment

I use Revolution for both my cats and my dogs. Both products work great. I love Revolution and buy it because it is one of the few medications that will protect against other things as well as the fleas. I have one cat that is prone to ear-mites and have been using this for years with no issues of the mites returning. A big plus, especially for my cat! Also, I like that Revolution is active on all stages of the flea...not just a flea bug. In my opinion, without killing the egg and larvae there's not a point. I also like that this is odor free instead of being super stinky. I don't get fights from any of my animals when trying to put on this medication. Plus, in comparison to other flea medications this one is pretty competitive if not cheaper in price....

Finding the perfect bed for my dog is like trying to hang up a picture during an earthquake...impossible. I scoured many a place and magazine to finally find one that would fit my dogs picky needs; the Paw Appeal Dream Pocket Round Bed.

First, my dog likes to burrow under covers which was a huge consideration in buying the Dream Pocket Round Bed. The bed has a soft shelled cover that can lay flat, or allow for my dog to burrow under it and fell like he's under a blanket. This aspect would be very comforting for those dogs with anxiety, mamma dogs or even puppies. The cover can be unzipped to extend the bed, but I don't see the use of that as the cover is a lot thinner than the rest of the bed. The cover does come completely off. This brings me to consideration number two. The bed itself on the Dream Pocket Round Bed is thick and fluffy. It doesn't have cheap foam padding like other beds. It's so soft and comfy that I would sleep on the Dream Pocket Round Bed if it...
...

JStraw9987 says "I absolutely LOVE my Pomeranian!!!!!" about Dog Breed Pomeranian

What can I saw about my lovable, adorable, fluffy little girl? Well I own a 16 month old pomeranian named Chloe and she is the sweetest little lady I have ever had!! She is by far the best dog I have ever had or could ever ask for. Ever since I was a little girl I have wanted one and everyone was like, "No, you don't want one","Thier hair is too long", "They shed too much"...blah blah blah! I am glad I took a chance. Chloe is very protective of me and everytime that someone is at the door or walks up on our porch she lets us know. Even when my husband and I are playing and running through the house, she chases and plays with us and makes sure her Mommy doesn't get hurt. One day I was crying and let me tell you, she did not leave my side one minute and layed in my lap and gave me endless kisses. Two years ago, I told my husband that I wanted to get one when I got the chance and he did NOT like the idea. He disliked the idea of owning a small dog who was known for barking their head off....
...

I have a three year old Yellow Lab and German Shepherd mix and a one year Pomeranian and both of my dogs were on Pedigree Puppy food for the first sixteen months of their life! I believe that quality counts when it comes to your animal and it is worth spending the extra money and buying the right food for your animal. I tried switching my lab's food when my husband and I thought she was in need of maybe a change and we had heard that a different brand was better for her, but when we brought home the new bag and put it in her dish, she took one sniff and walked away! She did not try to eat it the whole day and we had to go out and but her Pedigree Puppy! Let's just say the other food was 13 dollars more expensive than Pedigree and we had to give it to our friends and buy our Lab what she wanted!! My pomeranian loved the Pedigree also! She just got off the puppy food and is now on aduly small breed. SHE ABSOLUTELY loves everything there is about her food! She does not like change at all so...
...

As you can tell from the headline this food litterally saved my cats life. Shes 14 years old and for the last five years has had chronic ibs. it had gotten worse and worse she went everywhere and it was even projectille. It was to the point where she was going 4-6 times a day and was clearly in pain. We had tried everything from predisone to changing diets to wellness which is a high quality dry food, and turns out that was the problem, they dry food. Apparently dry food is not good for cats over long periods of time especially in certain breeds. so what happened is her body had just worked so hard to digest the dry food over the years that it gave up and went through her as soon as it came in. In my desperate struggles I found an article about raw food and a cat similiar age same problem that was fixed from this. I was not sure because I had tried everything. Luckly the local pet store was able to get it. And the price is not too bad considering you can get buy 1 get 1 free coupons off...
...

I have used this product on my two dogs (a lab and 6 lb yorkie) for the past year and have absolutely loved it. However, my husband and I recently puchased another yorkie and we have been through an emotional rollercoaster. He is a smaller yorkie so I do not know if that has anything to do with it, but after a few hours of giving it to him he started shaking really bad and looked disoriented. I thought he was going through hypoglycemia, but after getting his blood tested it showed he had low anemia levels and a temperature of almost 105 degrees. He received antibiotic and vitamins to help. The next day he was fine, but I will not use comfotis on my little ones any more. I have heard of other people having problems as well. Please be cautios if you decide to give this product to your baby and keep an eye on them for a day or so. Like I said I love it for my lab and he does not have any adverse side effect.
...

My large breed (rottie/shepherd mix) has been on an Iams diet for as long as we have had him, about ten years. We have tried other brands from time to time, but have always returned to the Iams brand. Our dog loves Iams and it doesn't last long in his bowl! We have fed our dog the large breed variety for a long time, but as he is now in his later years we have switched him to a senior brand. For a large breed in his senior years he is very active, and I feel feeding him a good brand of food has helped him lead a healthy active life. When we adopted our dog through a local vet's office they recommended Iams to use. Iams is a little costlier then some other brands, but I feel it has been worth the extra cost. I also like that it comes in 40 pound bags, which means I only have to purchase dog food once a month.
...

I am the proud human of a rescued Siberian Husky names Sable. From the time I got her she always had a very sensitive stomach. It had gotten so bad she was on Science diet prescription ID food which I am not a fan of at all. Her coat had gotten dry and lost it's softness. I tried a ton of foods from natural to holistic formulas and nothing worked she would still suffer stomach issues. I was always a fan of Premium Edge but even that did not work for her. I decided to give the Pro Plan Salmon formula a try and it worked wonders for her. She was not having stomach issues and I finally got her off of that nasty prescription food. She has been on pro plan now for at-least 4 years. I did recently switch her to the senior chicken formula. I was concerned it would not agree with her but to my surprise she accepted it very well. The dogs like the taste and flourish on it. I would recommend this product to anyone with a dog especially if you have had problems finding something that would work for...
...

My 2 shepherd puppies are the best dogs in the world! They are loving and playful and just plain adorable. When we went to Virginia to get them, we were only getting 1 dog. My 2 daughters came with me Ralph and me to get the puppy and one daughter held one puppy and the other daughter held the other puppy it was just so hard to choose! the one smaller of the 2 was the runt and you know the runt is always the best dog and the other daughter had the other puppy and I just could not choose so we took them both! I knew I was going to have a full house but I love dogs! well they are turning a year old in january and they are just a pleasure to have! they are sweet fun loving dogs! taking them home was the best decision I made, Ralph has been training them and they are very obedient dogs and very loyal to boot!

Although I feed our foster dogs and puppies a diet primarily consisting of dry kibble, I mix in some canned food once or twice a week as a little treat. I really like the Trader Joe's line of canned dog foods and have recently been using their Chunky Chicken Dinner.

I like Trader Joe's Canned Dog Foods (and cat foods) because they don't contain by-products, mystery meat, or carcinogenic preservatives. The main ingredients include chicken, beef, textured soy protein, animal liver, guar gum, and a bunch of vitamin/mineral supplements. When you open up the can, Trader Joe's Chunky Chicken Dinner looks like your typical canned dog food: a dense brown mass covered by a layer of brown slime. It doesn't look appetizing to me, but the puppies definitely don't mind the appearance. In fact, they all come rushing up to me when they hear the can opener going with tails wagging. They LOVE eating this Chunky Chicken Dinner and haven't had any problems like stomach upset or allergy issues...
...

I've owned Australia Shepherds for twelve years now and would not have any other breed of dog. Though I love all dogs! Be prepared to be "alpha dog" with an Aussie, because an intelligent dog prefers to think they're in charge. Their intelligence will amaze you!! With Australian Shepherds, you can train them to do anything you so desire.

These dogs are great for agility training/exhibitions/contests. They will even keep track of a person for you if you train them to do so. Give them lots of love, good food, good friendship, clear commands and they will be your best friend. If you treat them well (this goes for virtually any dog) they will always be there for you.

I've found that with my Aussies, I can talk to them just like I talk to anyone else. They understand more than just simple commands. But I believe that most dogs will respond to love and respect instead of commands.

As a very special treat, I purchase a box of Pedigree Little Champions packets for my two dogs to share. My pups usually get dry food only, so giving them a combination of the wet food and dry food together was a big treat for them.

I absolutely LOVE the way Pedigree Little Champions comes packaged. In one box, you get several pouches of food. Each pouch is one serving. The serving is small - Only a little over five ounces. The pouches are lined up nice and neatly in the box, so you can keep them all stored in the box until they are gone. The pouches are very easy to open and the food, literally, slides right out. You don't have to get a spoon and dig it out, or bang on the bottom it to get the food out....it just slides right out. SO EASY! Since the servings are so small, I mix it in with the dry food and give it to my pups. THEY LOVE IT! I have never seen my dogs devour their food with such intensity. They don't eat it down very fast, it's almost as if they are...
...

Labs are the most sweetist kind of dog ever. My mother and step father and three labs, and they are amazing with kids.. and the most kind hearted animal i have ever known. My daughter can do like anything she wants to to these dogs and they sit there licking her, and giving her the puppy eyes. She loves them three dogs, like they are her borther and sisters. I would never trust another breed of animal around my daughter, but when she is around them I trust them complety abd have no worries. They are amazing. i lived with my mother and step father when my daughter Makayla was born and those dogs loved her from the moment I brought her home, and sat her down. They came right up too me and instinaly bonded with her. I have never seen anything like that in my entire life, it was amazing. And heart touching. All in all I love labs and I would never get another breed of a dog for as long as I live!!!
...

I have 3 small dogs and 1 medium dog. Finding a dog food that they all could eat and like was easier than I thought it would be. The answer was Kibbles & Bits Mini Bits. They all love this dog food. Most dog foods have big pieces that was hard for the little ones to chew. With the Mini Bits this problem was solved. They also love the flavor. Kibbles & Bits Mini bits, contains both small chewy pieces and small crunchy pieces. This way they are getting all their nutrition and brushing their teeth. I have tried different dog foods occasionally, but always come back to the mini bits. My 4 dogs are proof that this is a great dog food. Their checkups at the vet are also proof. They are all healthy and have the perfect weights.
...

okaasan11 says "My babies have been eating Pinnacle for 3 yrs and are never sick" about Breeder's Choice Pinnacle - Trout and Sweet Potato Dry

I found Pinnacle by accident about 3 years ago. I have been feeding all natural/organic for over 5 yrs. At that time I had 9 dogs with only 3 being rescues. I have never had any problem transferring any dog to this food.

By August 2009, I had 17 dogs that ate this brand. All are very healthy. My babies only go to the vet for their rabies shot and well-health check ups! I do switch beetween brands occaisionally, such as Blue and Merrick. All three are about the same with ingrediants and price. This gives my babies more excitment for meal time.

In addition, my babies treats are: carrots, beans, peas, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, ground bone(from health store), occasionally peanut butter and baked homemade treats. All of these are salt free or raw.

Sometimes, I even put yogurt or cottage cheese into the food and mix. Talk about them licking the bowl clean!!!
...

Meri says "just what the doctor ordered!" about Virbac C.E.T. Hextra chews

Our little Yorkie rescue is the best thing that has happened to us in years. [Our house was just too quiet since all of the kids have moved out.] We absolutely adore her and she loves us, however, we don't love her occasional bad breath! We tried several products in hopes of relieving the problem. Most of them helped a little but nothing took care of her canine halitosis completely. That is, until we discovered the Virbac C.E.T HEXtra strips at the Vets office. He promised it would work. I was skeptical but bought them anyway. Within a week her teeth were pretty and white and her breath was sweet. Now, I tell everybody about them.

These premium chews are laced with Chlorhexidine that helps reduce tartar and remove plaque from her teeth. In fact, the Chlorhexidine works for up to 24 hours once it is introduced into the dog' mouth. My dog, Tessi loves them and thinks they are a treat so it is easy to get her to chew on them. They are safe and won't get stuck in the stomach like other rawhide...
...

Sonicqueen says "Pomeranians, can you handle one???" about Pomeranians Pomeranians

I love my baby but if your considering buying a pomeranian, good luck with that. They can be such a love but the next second just turn on you. And they have really stinky breath. But even though Gizmo is crazy i wouldnt trade him for any other dog. Its really funny because ive learned when hes going to snap. He gets really tense and stares at you from the corner of his eyes. Hes only five pounds but he thinks hes a big dog, he has little man syndrom. They are vey delicate little things, im always afraid that im going to step on him and break him. They are very loving when they want to be. Gizmo is very spoiled. He LOVES to go in the car. When you ignore him he will go pee on something, but hes potty trained just a brat. He loves to pee on plastic bags like stater bothers bag. If we leave a bag on the floor he will pee on it, i don't know if he likes the sound of it but he loves them. If you want a pomeranian you have to be very patient person.
...
