The Cheat River Lodge offers rooms or cabins. We stayed in a lodge room which appear on their web site picture to be riverfront, but are not (they are separated by a road and steep bank). The room was fairly nice, although not for suitable for people with allergies (a dehumidifier and plug-in air freshner were present, presumably to combat dampness). Our problem was with the apparent lack of bookkeeping. We purchased a gift certificate in February. When we could finally get away to use it, another couple agreed to go along. My husband reserved an additional room, explaining that we had a gift certificate for the first room. As instructed, he sent a check for the balance and listed the gift certificate number on the check. Thinking everything was taken care of, he did not bring the certificate with him to West Virginia. Knowing that we had the gift certificate and had already paid, the owner insisted (by...

My husband and I stayed at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Minneapolis for a little get-away for his Birthday. When we checked it, we casually mentioned what we were in town for, and they automatically checked to see if they could upgrade us for the evening! We were put on the executive level, so, complimentary happy hour, and buffet breakfast! It was lovely! — Everything was so clean, the people were curteous, the drinks at happy hour were fantastic, and the breakfast was lovely! Not just pastries and cereal, but hot eggs, pancakes, fresh fruit, so on and so forth! —...

My husband and I took my youngest grandson to this resort on May 30, 2008 and stayed the weekend. The place needed a paint job and was a little messy. Our room still had food in the refrigerator from the previous occupants, sheets were used and bundled together in a drawer, and the linins on the bed were not changed. We called the service desk and they promptly responded. From that point on everything was OK except several times that we had gone to the water park, the slide was closed. This was disappointing to our grandson. Check out was quick although, as we were driving up the parkway, I realized that I had left something in our room. I immediately called the resort and was told that they had found the item and for me to send them the postage and they would mail it to me. This was a reasonable request since I was on my way to a graduation party in New Hope, Pa. and didn't have time to turn around. Now I wish that I did. It is now July 22 and I'm still waiting for the item. Every...

The management and workers were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The cafeteria area was dirty and they the food was not great. The pool was only open until 10pm so we did not get to enjoy it as much as we would have liked to. We were at Disney world until late so it would have been nice to cool off in the pool afterwards.

Not withstanding a poorly designed lobby, Charleston Harbor View Resort has all of the facilities necessary to be a fine place to stay. But that's where the positive comments end. During a four day stay we encountered many signs of a poorly managed hotel with poorly trained staff. Let's begin with the food service staff that drops the tea box into my wife's lap with a "hold this" statement while he juggled the plates and cups against his chest. Follow that with a cold meal and you get the picture. When we asked to see a manager we spoke with a young man whose answer was "try again tomorrow, we'll try to do better". Excuses are the norm for all staff. Valet attendants double as shuttle drivers and are never around. On three occassions we waited 30 minutes while they "looked for the keys". Ask the front desk for some help: need help finding an ice machine that works? - you get "call the kitchen", missing the remote...

My husband and I recently traveled to Sandals Grande Antigua Resort & Spa and couldn't have had a better time. This was our third visit to a Sandals resort and we plan on continuing to travel to other Sandals resorts in the future. Everything about this resort was great from the atmosphere, food, service, rooms, staff, entertainment, and tour options. The resort was enormous but easy to navigate. The newer side to the resort, the Meditteranean Village, is so beautiful! The suites are so clean and big, and the new Main Pool is extraordinary. If you prefer the beach over the pool scene, you couldn't ask for a better one. The water is warm and the sand is soft. Sandals offers a large variety of watersports including scuba and snorkeling. Overall it was a fun and relaxing vacation and worth the money...

Planet Hollywood (formerly the Aladdin) was a nice casino/hotel to stay at while visiting Vegas. I stayed in one of the nicer rooms with a bunch of friends and was very impressed with the decor. Famous black and white movie stills and framed movie memorabilia adorn the rooms. The staff was very helpful and friendly. On the bottom level of the hotel you have restaurants (including PF Changs), the casino, and a mall. So you don't even have to leave to have fun. If you do want to check out the strip, Planet Hollywood is ideally situated about halfway so you can walk in either direction. —...

It's not too big (only about 150 rooms), but what the Hotel Intercontinental Metrocenter Managua lacks in sheer size, it makes up for in style. The hotel is one of the newest in Managua, and it's one of the most stylish, sophisticated properties as well. — — I love the thoroughly modern decor with flashes of Scandinavian simplicity coexisting in harmony with the timeless grace of stone, granite, and wood. The lobby is slick and cool, and the main level is mostly about the hotel's spacious dining room and lobby bar, though it's got a series of meeting rooms that make it a good place for a company meeting or for a quinceñera or a boda --- it's one of the most impressive venues in Managua. — — The hotel offers concierge services, as well as rental cars (Hertz or Avis), a gift shop, a very attractive outdoor swimming pool, and a stylish if somewhat small exercise room. The Voltes restaurant and bar is spacious and while casual, feels simultaneously...

Although Hyatt Windward Point is located on the opposite side of KW from Old Town and Mallory Square, it has much to offer visitors. Built as a timeshare resort, all of the units at this resort are two bedroom and have beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean which is directly across the street (no beach). Parking is free and airport pickup is provided. All of the units have huge balconies with ceiling fans and telescopes for viewing the ships in the distance. The decor is of the Hemingway-Key West style, with cherrywood and wicker furnishings. Many of the framed works of art in the unit are of Hemingway when he was living in KW. The bathroom sinks and kitchen counter are granite and the huge whirlpool tub in the master bath was great after a day of seeing KW. There is a washer and dryer in the unit, which was not mentioned in the literature. We scheduled this week following a week at the Marriott Grande Vista in Orlando and were afraid that we would be disappointed based on...

The Reach Resort looked promising, and the property itself is very nice, but the hotel fell down on service and amenities. The restaurant is too expensive to eat at everyday (a club soda with lime is $4 everytime, a Mojito was $12). We had a "luxury one bedroom w/ ocean view" but it was really a view of the pool, with the water a distance off. There were two sinks in the bathroom, one only ran hot water - the other only ran cold water. No place to hang your towel or a bathrobe in the bathroom. There is a Nespresso coffee maker in teh room, which was nice, but after the first day of use not only were no additional creamers left - but the two that were left were taken by housekeeping and not replaced. One day we left at 9am, came back at 2:30 and housekeep had still not been to the room. When I called, they argued with me - instead of just sending housekeeping up to the room. The sliding glass door to the balcony would not lock. My husband called to tell them and...

I check in with my wife and two small children, the lady at the desk (Mrika) was not very organized, lost my pre-paid tickets to the breakfast buffet, I had to ask for my tickets to the amusement parks more than once even though it was listed on my reservation. When I told Mrika that I did not have the pre-paid breakfast tickets, she said she gave them to me. She made me check my pockets, open up my wallet, like she was doing a strip search of me. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me he was with a guest right now and I can call him later. I also asked Mrika if she had any chocolate bars for the kids, she told me no. I told Mrika that I was surprised because when I stayed at the Courtyard Lancaster my kids were given two chocolate bars at check in. Also I stayed at Hershey Park in the past at that seem to be a customary thing that is done at any decent hotel in this area. Mrika told me there are...

The Red Roof Inn is no loger sitting in a mess of construction in Metro Center, for they have finished the sidewalks. With the !5% off coupon and other coupon promotions this hotel is a great bargain. We recently were able to use our 11th free night. I found the stay even more enjoyable. The room's modern decor and the quality home furnishings, make this hotel chain very appealing. The coffee bar serving 8 types of drinks free of charge; the complementary newspaper; the astute vending machines inventory... I could go on. The thing of least interest to me at this hotel is the T-Mobile Hotspot. because this company never lets my computer on the network to buy the time. To me it is as if it did not exist. If I did not have this problem with the wireless, I would find the $10 per night charge exhorbitant. — — This particular location is well managed and fenced in with a large Cracker Barrel Restaurant, which one can access by just walking over.
The Courtyard LaCrosse Downtown River front Hotel in LaCrosse Wisconsin had the most incredibly comfortable beds I have ever slept on in a hotel. We originally booked for a week at a Super 8, and after one night I knew I couldn't stay another! We rebooked for the Marriott Courtyard LaCrosse, and although the beds were only a standard double size rather than queen size, they were exceptionally comfortable. Hotel chains should take heed: We baby boomers need comfort! We have changed many things in our world, and I hope that more hotels would have beds like these! — —

My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon on Peter Island back in Sept. 2007. This was one of the best experiences we've both ever had in the caribbean. The service was fantastic. We highly recommend going in the off season. There were only about 20 of us in the whole place & it really felt like it was our own private island. The food was amazing. Everyone catered to you the entire time. The staff was super friendly. — The shuttle service needs a little bit of work. There is this big hill to get to the beachfront suites which is where we were staying. And for the record, pay the upgrading fee. We arrived to be taken to our oceanview room near the pool...they are nice and spacious, but then we saw the beachfront rooms, 10 ft to the water, with private balcony and amazing bathroom. Completely worth the money. And request a lower floor room.

You just can't beat the central location of the Hotel Colonial --- just 10 steps off the town's central plaza --- and the comfortable rooms and joyfully bright latin character of the place make it an unbeatable base camp in downtown Granada Nicaragua. — — Rooms are spacious and have a lot of character: bright colors, intricate tilework, and plenty of architectural quirks keep the place interesting and very human feeling. Despite its traditional charm, it's really a very modern room at heart, with a big new color TV that gets a ton of cable channels, really really COLD air conditioning, and a spacious, bright, airy bathroom with twin pedestal sinks. Despite being in the heart of colonial downtown, it's also a surprisingly quiet place to spend the night. — — There's two swimming pools, each set in separate courtyards. Lush tropical plants contrast against bright yellow and pink walls, creating a bold statement. The bar is lively in the evening and has a...
