My worst flight experience. I typically would not go out of my way to write a bad review for something, but I was truly appalled by the service I have received on this flight. I was flying back home from my dental school interview in Florida - so I was packed very light. I only brought my suit and a change of clothes for 3 days. Overall, I had a standard carry-on bag (bought from macys, never had a problem getting on the plane with it before), and a garment bag for my suit. As I was boarding the plane, the flight attendant stopped me and told me to check my carry on bag to make sure it fits in their bag model fitter. To no surprise, the bag fit, but I had to push the bag in a little. Please mind there was a line of people behind me watching this. The flight attendant then tells me that I should not have to push the bag in, that it should fall right in. I told her that I'll just take out my dress shoes and put them in my garment bag. The flight attendant then tells me there's no way it's...
...

tinahfernandez says "Love SWA but special offers for RR credits are hard to receive" about Southwest Airlines

I Love SOUTHWEST AIRLINES! I love that they are rarely late and they are reasonable! I fly SWA every chance I get and promote this airline to my friends every time they ask what airline I use to travel.

HOWEVER... I would like to caution anyone who plans on booking based off the 'special offers' SWA promotes for extra rapid rewards credit. I recently started booking my rental car thru SWA as well once I saw that I could get triple credits by using Alamo rental car. (I have always used Enterprise). I rented the car and it was an 'OK' experience. I debated whether it was worth it to do the same two weeks later and felt that it would be great getting the extra credits. However...I have had to call SWA's rapid reward center to try and get the credits posted. It has been over a month and still no difference.

I also took advantage of the new flights to and from Boston for DOUBLE credits. I was informed that I needed to register (which I did and they acknowledged)...
...

CMRTJ says "The No-No airline" about US Airways

Ok, let's start saying that I travel every weekend... from Tampa to wherever work takes me. That's pretty stressful itself plus having to deal with rude people at the airport or over the phone!? No way! These days I am in NC so I am stuck with USAir... what a NIGHTMARE! I usually don't care about the FF miles because I am always looking for good deals and not the airline that much but when the service is so bad I have to think twice and sometimes don't care the extra bucks. What's with USAirways?? Now you can't even call customer services because these people that aren't even in US territory can't help you! You can't even understand what they are saying and they can't understand you or your needs either. I had to put one of my tickets on hold 2weeks ago and this lady charged $100 to my credit card but that's not the worst part, that worst is that when I called them to ask them about this charge they told me that they couldn't see anything on the system and that it was very strange because...
...

We recently traveled to Europe on American Airlines and words can not fully express the fiasco we endured and their blatant apathy and despicable customer care before, during and after our flight. Following is an excerpt from one of three letters I composed which were answered with lame excuses followed by a telephone call by a customer service representative who tried at every turn to blame us for our trouble and hung up on me when I told her she should be ashamed of herself and the company she represents.

"In January of 2009 I booked a roundtrip flight with American Airlines for myself and my husband from Miami, Florida to Madrid, Spain nine months in advance. When I received our email confirmation I realized the return date was incorrect, whether due to human or computer error I have no idea, but I called your Reservations Department immediately and was informed I would be charged $250.00 per person for correcting the error. I begged and pleaded to several of your employees and, in...
...

Despicable customer service. I booked my flight over the phone. I am certain that the Continental agent messed up my flight day on my return flight and send me conformation with the wrong day coming back from my trip. When I called back Continental to say that the agent made a mistake on the day of the return flight, they said they would change in for me for $150 change fee. I did not understand why I have to pay extra money for a mistake made by continental agent and asked to speak to the supervisor. The supervisor was very rude, did not want to listen to me at all and said that there is nothing she can do for me and that if I wanted I could complain to the headquarter. Basically I was forced to pay an extra $150 on top of my already expensive ticket price because on Continental agen't booking mistake!!! NEVER,EVER FLYING WITH CONTINENTAL AGAIN!!!!!
...

Virgin Atlantic Airways provides a first class experience at a budget price. I flew Virgin a total of four times this year during my study-abroad experience in the United Kingdom. Each experience was equally delightful.

On my first trip I had to be moved from my original seat so a family could sit together. Although I was initially fustrated this soon faded once I saw my new seat in an exit aisle with no seat companion. The flight attendant also ensured that I had everything I needed including some extra special treats which he brought back from first class for me.

This is a prime example of the effort that Virgin employees go to, to ensure that all the people of the flight are happy and comfortable.
...

I love Continental Airlines! They never disappoint me and I am so thrilled with their service. I travel a lot and I just have thumbs up for this outstanding airline. I recommend all travelers to go through Continental Airlines. They have great employees that are so professional and so caring for us travelers. I feel special and great traveling all the time through them. If I would use another airline, it would be because I am forced to if Continental Airlines didn't take me to my destination. There are many different ways to earn mileage in this airlines. They have a special program called One Pass where us members earn mileage every time we travel. We have a chance to earn a free flght ticket by earning mileage. Like I said, they are great and you will agree with me once you give them a chance as well. I have been traveling through Continental Airlines ever since I was little and I plan on continuing that tradition. I dare you to travel through them!
...

(on 8-22-2009) all was well until i started receving e-mails concerning my flights, i got 5 of these e-mails!! the first 4 e-mails were about a change in my flight and that i had to make other arrangments to get to my destination...finally the last e-mail i recived (10-3-2009) was an e-mail stating the my flight was no longer available (for a travel date of 11-27-2009). so i contacted the airline company and they told me that there was nothng that they could do and that "this kinda thing happends all the time". they gave me NO reason to as why this was happening and the lady that i had talked to told me that the only other option that i had was to have my money refunded. so she begain to start the process of refunding me my money which was with debt card at the end of our call she told me that it would be 4-6 weeks before i would recieve my money! at this point i was in tears, i needed the $400.00 back to buy another ticket...
...

A recent ight with Copa to Buenos Aires required a transfer in Panama. When I checked in at the gate at Panama they informed me that they had over booked the flight by 12 people. After waiting 30 minutes I asked what was happening. They informed me that they changed my flight to another one set for 7 hours later. They didn´t even bother to consult me. They made the change and left it at that. After a lot of heated discussion, I managed to convince them that it was important that I was on that flight in order toconnect with homeward flight to Australia. They simply changed someone else´s flight and issued me a boarding pass and said nothing to nobody. Not even the person who´s ticket they changed mine for. Five minutes before the flight was actually due to leave, I once again, asked what was happening. They then informed me that there was a problem with the flight and it was delayed for 4 hours. Again, no announcement or communication to any of the passengers. After that, the real fun...
...

Cannot believe this airline is still in business. I did my fair share of flying and I understand that things happen that are just out of anyones control. I actually never wrote a review about an airline although I experienced delays, poor customer service, lost baggage etc because sometimes, things just happened and it is no ones fault really. But U.S. Airways is a sorry excuse for an airline. Going to Miami (for a weekend trip- meaning only two days), I booked my flight for 6am landing by 12pm so that I can get a full day at the beach. They boarded us on time and actually made us sit in the plane for 2 hrs because they were experiencing delays. I'm not complaining about the delays, I'm complaining about the fact that they actually made us sit there for two hours, fully aware that majority of people had connecting flights to catch. They made no attempts to find us another flight, no attempt to let us know that we would be sitting there for two hours so that we could make alternative plans....
...

Air Tran Airways. Based in Atlanta, they are now operating up and down the east coast even as far North as Liberty Newark International and Connecticut Bradley International, including Boston Logan. In Orlando they have many flights that connect through Atlanta and points north and also to the west as far as Los Angeles. Their fleet includes long range Boeing 737 - 200 and 300's that can seat over 150 passengers and can with their light cargos can afford to offer reasonable fares. They have an awards program call A+ Rewards that can be found on their website. Membership is free. And they even have a signup bonus to boot. Their colors are green and blue. And AIR TRAN on the plane is mostly blue. A relatively new airline which came on the scene just after 2002, they run alot of flights daily. Their safety record has been almost perfect with only a few blown tires and forced landings with no loss of life. Air Tran Airways will hopefully stay on the list of favorites for Americans looking to...
...

Even though we were in economy class, we thought that the seats were pretty comfortable, and the fact that they had so many movies and tv shows available made the trip go much faster than we expected.

AirTran, AirTran, AirTran. This was by far the worst airline experience of my life, and I've had some pretty hairy experiences on other airlines before.

My brother and I were flying from SFO to Milwaukee on a Friday to meet a friend. The flight was to go from SFO to Atlanta, then from Atlanta to Milwaukee. We checked weather and flight info ahead a time, and though heard there was a chance of thunderstorms in the Milwaukee/Chicago area, it seemed everything was on schedule...until we got to the AirTran gate at SFO.

There, the attendant (whose name tag read "Mel") told us that all flights to Milwaukee and Chicago had been canceled for the day due to a weather advisory. The best I could do was fly on to their hub in Atlanta as scheduled and hope I could find a flight to Milwaukee the next day if the weather cleared up.

Not only did this sound really iffy, but I had a one-time-only event going on in Chicago on Saturday, so flying that day was not possible. I asked her if I could get a refund....
...

Yes that is what you think when you book the flight but the service is awful starting from the customer service representatives over the phone who don't have the slightest clue what's going on and the representatives at the airport who have the WORST customer service skills. This started as a cheap round-trip flight that cost us double because unfortunately the trip had to be made and instead of making up for their mistake they refused to take ownership of it.
ambernicole76 says "I love the no fee for your bags" about Southwest Airlines

I love southwest airlines because they don't charge me to bring my clothes and toiletries. You know, a must when you travel. Not only do we get hit with all the other "fees" the airlines now sock it to you again by charging $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second bag - ONE WAY! This is why I love Southwest airlines. They have great deals to destinations we fly to which is always a bonus.

I flew from Seattle to Albuquerque with my 1 month daughter and was just amazed at how nice the Southwest crew was in helping me load and unload from the plane. Traveling with an infant and all her necessities plus mine makes it hard for just one person to handle.

Plus, Southwest was the only airline that had a reasonable rate for us to fly versus the other airlines. I save over $200 on my roundtrip flight into Albuquerque and back home to Seattle. Alaska wanted over $500 for that flight and I paid just over $300 after the taxes.

Our family will fly Southwest airlines from now on.

nuckolsdc says "Not worth your hard earned money." about Virgin America Airline

This carrier is probably okay for short flights, or perhaps the first class seats are worth it. For me, however, this airline is not worth the hype. The seats are a faux leather. Great. It doesn't make them any cushier, sturdier or more comfortable than another airline. They certainly aren't roomier. There are screens in the seat backs, and you can pay $12 to access the internet (no VOIP, video or audio), but other airlines have the same advantages for long flights.

Personally, I found the stewardesses on my flight to be exceptionally rude--to me and to other passengers. I also thought the "mood lighting" did nothing except reinforce the idea that this airline is supposed to be hip. Perhaps the mood lighting justifies the $9 snacks they call meals. If people are finishing it in 5 bites, it's not a meal. At the very least, such a small portion of airplane food should not be so expensive.

Altogether, flying with Virgin America has been a disappointment. I really expected some of these amenities...
...
