Jo says "Get a great deal on the Star Trac Natural Runner Cross Trainer" about Star Trac Natural Runner Plus Elliptical Cross Trainer

To the PointWhile in California we stayed at a hotel with a fitness room (hotel to be reviewed). There was the Star Trac Natural Runner Plus Elliptical Cross Trainer. — You'll find this machine remanufactured: http://www.usedgymequipment.com/machines/startrac_plus.htm — and be able to get a great price for less than $2400. In fact at that site you can make an offer. A CrossTrainer is a machine that has moving arms so you can get a slight upper body workout while getting a cardio vascular workout. You may see a similar machine if you put the name in your browser. That is Star Trac's Edge which is not what I am reviewing. — — The Natural Runner's Specifications — Star Trac's CrossTrainer is very large coming in at 67 inches by 86 inches wide by 33 inches high. This is a large, heavy (260 pounds) machine that will take a user's weight in the 350 pound range. (This is an educated guess based on other machines and my experience.) — The Star Trac...

GaryMorrison says "Very good ellipse machine, but be careful of one thing..." about Octane Q37e Elliptical Trainer

The Octane Q37e is definitely a really excellent machine - very ruggedly build, wonderful displays, very good exercise motion, all with a fairly small footprint. — —

Be very cautious of one thing though: Cleaning the wheels. Everybody emphasizes how quiet the Q37e is, but if you don't clean its wheels very diligently, it'll rapidly become annoyingly noisy. If you're a big-time sweater like me, you want to clean it after every use. Also wear a T-shirt while you exercise, to soak up your sweat and thereby reduce the amount that gets onto the tracks. In my case, since I'd drop sweat all over it if I were to clean it after use, I clean it pretty much every day before use, rather than after. — —

Also, you can clean other parts of it with Formula 409, but don't clean the wheels and tracks with anything other than water, water with a little bit of soap, or possibly Lysol (or similar) cleaning wipes. — —

Also, never never never put silicon...

My first elliptical was a ProForm Strideselect, which I loved. The Strideselect is a great machine, but its like the Prince of Sweat, whereas the 350 is like the King of Sweat! Not only are these things built super solid, they are quiet, easy to clean, and most importantly, easy to use! If you get back pain or knee pain, an elliptical is def the way to go. I've been a ProForm user for 5 years now and wouldn't buy any other brand. These are professional machines at home prices. The only caveat I have is that if you're not handy, spring for the in-home installation or put on something slinky and entice your neighbor to assemble...

I had been comparing elliptical machines for a while, trying to find a decent one for under 1,000. Despite the plethora of them out there, not a single one is high enough in quality to be worth buying. Then I cam across this one at a year-end sale and couldn't pass it up (only $2,000). Yes, the price of this machine is much higher than most ellipticals, but unlike those, this one will easily last a decade. — — This is also a great machine for people who lead busy lives that don't allow much time for exercise. I have a desk job that takes up most of my day, and yet, just using this machine for at least 15 minutes a day is allowing me to lose weight, despite the fact that I spend a majority of my day sitting....

For all those who might be considering some home exercise equipment I thought I might share my experience. If it helps even one person avoid buying a bad product (a NordicTrack eliptical) from a bad company (ICON Fitness), it will be worth the time for me to write this all down. So here's the story: — Last fall, my wife & I decided that we were going to invest in some exercise equipment for the house. We weren't making it to the gym enough to justify our memberships and the thought was that if we had some equipment at home, we would use it. So we looked around at the brands we knew from the gym (Precor and another premium brand) and found out that those products were really expensive. Now we knew we didn't want one of the ultra cheap ones because neither of us believed that they would last, so instead we decided that we would go for a nice high end model from our local sporting goods store. Ultimately, we tried out a few and opted for...

To the Point — — I have used the Weslo Momentum 635 Elliptical a few times and surprisingly liked it. When I see a machine that costs less than $200 that surprises me. It is not for everyone. The rating reflects the target audience and the price. — A Closer View — The specifications: — The machine weighs 113 pounds and measures about 62 inches high by 27 inches wide by 49 inches long. This is a small, light machine. The maximum user weight is 250 pounds. You can find it online if you type the name into your browser and at local department stores. — The features: — The features: — The Weslo Momentum 635 has huge pedals which you can see in the picture. On the pedals are bumps which kept my feet from moving around. — The moving arms have heart rate sensors built in. There is an integrated water bottle holder. You'll be able to work your upper arms, which is great if you do not do any resistance training. If you do and don't want to...

I've had my Octane for about 2 months now and use it almost everyday. I was reluctant to spend the money, but now I'm so glad that I did! What initially impressed me was the small footprint- I live in a 550 sq. ft. studio apartment, so that was very important to me. — I also live above someone and the Octane is very quiet- just a swooshing noise that is barely audible. — Would definitely buy again... very happy! —...

I love using the elliptical because they are low impact. This particular one I think is the most comfortable and allows the rider to have a more natural form. It has many settings and is easy to understand and use. It provides a good workout for both the upper and lower body. With its multiple settings it is a great machine for any athlete or person just wanting to sweat a little bit. One of the down falls of this machine is that it can be noisy and after long periods of time my feet fall asleep. I would recommend this machine to anyone who is looking for a good workout without the impact of things like running. I use it in between my long run days so i can still get a workout but without the impact of running. It gives my body a much needed break . — — —...
