JovialCougar says "This mini lantern simply did not work" about Ozark Trail Mini LED Camp Lantern

When I saw the Ozark Trail Mini LED Camp Lantern in Walmart I thought it would make a good item to take on a camping trip. It small, lightweight, was not too expensive, and had some features I liked.

The Ozark Trail Mini LED Camp Lantern runs on 4 AA batteries which are stored in the base. The bottom twists off giving you access to the battery chamber. The light has three light features: 3 LED Lights, 6 LED Lights, and a Red LED Light. The different light functions are chosen by clocking the On/Off button.

The mini lantern has a little handle on the top, a plastic globe, and a rubbery feeling lower half. It doesn't seem like it would break too easily, which is nice when camping. I had expected to use this lantern as a mini nightlight on the picnic table or for a small light in the tent when I wanted low light.

Unfortunately the Ozark Trail Mini LED Camp Lantern never worked for long. After putting the batteries in and clicking on the On/Off button a few times the various...
...

The only flashlight you'll ever need!

I love this Maglite! I have had this one for over a decade now and it still works every time. The light beam can be adjusted from a large area to a small pin point. It is heavy and long and I use this one when I'm investigating things at night because it can be used for self protection also. I should explain that I live in the country and you never know what's out there. I think this is actually the one that the police use!

I went with the purple one, it still looks like it did the day I got it!

Two thumbs up!!!
...

JovialCougar says "A great little flashlight from Coleman" about Coleman 3AAA LED Flashlight

I finally found a small flashlight that has a decent light beam and is good quality: the Coleman 3AAA LED Flashlight. This flashlight is just 4 inches long and easily fits into your hand, but emits a strong light beam using Light Emitting Diode (L.E.D.) technology.

The Coleman 3AAA LED Flashlight operates on three AAA batteries which were sold with the flashlight. They were easily entered into the flashlight's barrel. The light is a bluish-white color from its 5mm LED light which is nice and bright. It will cover a distance up to about 30 feet. It's rated at 8 Lumens and the batteries will operate up to 35 hours.

My flashlight is light blue but I noticed they were sold in a variety of colors. A black nylon carrying case came with it, which has a Velcro flap and a strap to affix to your belt. There is also a nylon hand strap on the base of the flashlight.

The Coleman 3AAA LED Flashlight weighs less than 5 ounces and is sturdily made on anodized aluminum. Most of the barrel is...
...

The Innovage Super Bright White LED Lantern seemed like a good deal when I bought it. The lantern has some good features, a nice appearance, and was on sale for just $9.99. But after using the lantern for a while I'm not so thrilled with its performance.

On the bright side, the Innovage Super Bright White LED Lantern has twelve small LED lights imbedded in a tube in its globe. The light level is adjustable with a dimmer switch that is very easy to turn. The lowest light-levels are almost useless but the highest level provides a passable amount of light for a small area.

This camping lantern is about 9 inches tall, silver and black in color, and has a handle with a rubber grip on top. The four D cell batteries are imbedded in the base, which is easily removed for replacing them. There is a plug-in near the globe for an optional AC adapter so you can plug it into a standard 110 V. outlet. However, the adaptor plus is sold separately.

The Innovage Super Bright White LED Lantern promises...
...

JovialCougar says "A lantern that is easy to store, and won't burn your hands." about Coleman 4D Pack Away Lantern

At one time just about the only camping lanterns available were the Coleman white-gas lanterns. Although these are very reliable (and make a cool hissing sound), they are heavy, require highly flammable fuel, and get very hot when operating. In recent years battery-operated camping lights seem to have become more popular, and one called the Coleman 4D Pack-Away Lantern has an innovative design.

The Coleman 4D Pack-Away Lantern runs on four D-sized batteries which reside in the base of the unit. The unit is made of entirely of plastic besides the thin metal handle, and weighs just 1 pound, 6 ounces without the batteries. What's unique about this light is that it can collapse from its 10" height down to just 6" by pushing the top into the base.

I bought this camping lantern because when it is collapsed it is very easy to store. The light takes up less room and the vital lighting parts are protected inside the base. When pulled open the light has the look of an old-fashioned Coleman lantern,...
...

I am a big fan of the mag lite for many reasons. The first is that I really like the construction of the lite itself. It is easy to change the bulb when it goes out and it shines extra brite. When I go outside at night I want a light that will shine bright but not be something huge to carry around and mag lite is the perfect fir for that. It is perfect to keep in the car in case of emergencies so I really recommend that everyone buys one. There is no other light on the market that shines as bright as the mag light....

With Tornado Season upon us here in Kansas I have added to the stuff that I keep in the Storm Shelter. One of my new additions is this 6 in 1 Personal Safety Device from Safety Cross. I found this at Walmart for $18 and for what it does it is well worth the price.

Safety Cross 6 in 1 Personal Safety Device

There are no batteries to replace or go bad in this nifty little gadget. You Crank the handle for 1 minute and it gives you 90 minutes of use. You can crank it either way on this so there is no remembering which way to crank in an emergency. It does hold a charge for a long time as I cranked it up over 72 hours ago and just tried it and it still had a charge in it! Let me go over the various functions of this thing for you.

1. Light Function

On top you have a light button that controls the light of course...lol The first press is a low beam light which in a dark room will show you the way but only if you go slow. This would be better as a night light. The second press give you a much brighter......

Yesterday I reviewed the Coleman Classic Fluorescent Lantern.

Well, when we returned from Key Colony Beach in the Keys we saw the customary commercials on TV about the approaching Hurricane season and the need to update/restock our supplies. A timely message.

So, having little to do I went over to the neighborhood Home Depot to have a look around. Since I had just gone for my lungs feeding the Coleman Lantern its 8 D Cell Energizers, emergency lighting was on my mind.

That's when the Energizer Weather Ready 245 Hour LED Room Light caught my attention.

With its 8 LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) and its need of only 4 D Cells it got my attention. Could I really expect 245 hours of operation? After all, the Coleman only offered 18. I just had to pick one up. No, actually I picked up three.

So far

Well, I've had one burning for 72 straight hours and it isn't complaining. Not 245 mind you, but I'm already 4 times ahead of the Coleman. Wait. Actually I'm 8 times ahead since it takes...
...

Well last week, it was the annual occurrence of Key Colony Beach Day. Doesn't sound familiar?

Down in the Florida Keys, just a couple of miles north of Marathon sits the pretty little City of Key Colony Beach. OK, go ahead and laugh, but it really is a city.

Every year, just about now, on a Sunday the City celebrates Key Colony Beach Day. The day starts out with a very early breakfast that anyone who is anyone in Key Colony Beach attends. To a transplanted New Englander it's a very Stepford kind of thing. I mean that in only the kindest terms. Everyone in this town is so nice.

Following the town breakfast a day of festivities begins and a huge (well maybe not huge) craft fair is the center piece. This year, the lovely Veronica and I are showcasing JennaMax Designs at the Fair. Our handiwork is on sale there today.

But still, what has this have to do with a Coleman Lantern? Well, this year, everything. You see Daylight Savings Time came early this year and at 6am it is pitch dark....
...

Every single time I need a flash light the little bugger is always dead as a door nail and this so bugs me.

I am now prepared anytime I need a flash light with my Self-Powered Emergency Flashlight. It's a hand crank flash light and any time I need it, I just crank it for one minute and I get 30 minutes of light and it's a nice bright LED light (three of them). Turning the crank recharges the built-in Ni-H cell battery. No electricity or outside batteries are ever required and this is so perfect for me. The neat design features a fold-away crank, titanium finish and sure grip rubber accents. Perfect for use in the home, car, RV, boat, and camping, too! I might pick up a few more of these just for both of our cars (just in case), my brother, sister, Mom and Dad and for camping (Won't be the greatest for flash light tag because they would hear me coming if I have to crank it. Yes, you get a some noise when you crank it and make sure you have it turned off when you do.I have found "never...
...

kid-kansas says "My Wife Loves her Maglite!" about Mag-Lite 6-D Cell Flashlight

My wife drives for a living and this flashlight goes where ever she does. Hers has the new Xenon bulb and Maglite rates it at up to 57,000 candlepower and 233.5 lumen's. It fits nicely under the seat and lets her feel safer at night having it.

About Maglite

Manufactured in the USA out of good strong aluminum stock with a rubber o-ring sealing the moisture out. These flashlights have been around for many years. They carry a limited lifetime warranty in the U.S. and Japan and 10 years in other parts of the world. Police Officers have used these for a long time due to their great durability and being sturdy enough to use as a weapon if cornered.

These flashlights come with a 3 way switch as well, On, Off and a manual signal mode to get attention when needed. They weigh a good bit too and at about 2 1/2 pounds they let you know they are strong. Hers has been dropped, rained on and run over and it still keeps on working very well.

Bottom Line

Maglite makes many sizes including AA, C and D battery......

This light will last forever. Notice in the apocolyptic movies - they always have a mag-lite after the nuclear or environmental disaster! The cons of this light (heavy, expensive) are far outdone by the pros. And the expensive label is not really accurate. It may be expensive, but it is an excellent VALUE This light will last forever! So while you pay more at teh beginning, you pay less in the long run, which is (in this reviewer's opinion) a measure of value over expensiveness. Bright light, adjustable beam, effective subduer of burglars, good value, longer life than most of us (I am curently using my grandfather's mag-lite - and he passed away 10 years ago!) - what's not to like??...

This flashlight is great. It is well made. It works after being run over by a vehicle. Temperature does not effect it's performance. It has a much longer battery life than the cheaper flashlights. The beam is adjustable to whatever specific purpose it is being used for. The round design makes it prone to rolling around. I think it could benefit from some sort of flip down stand, but otherwise is awesome....

I agree with most of the other reviews, and would like to add some more thoughts on the light. I think that while it is very strong and reliable, I prefer rubber armored lights now. I also find that led lights provide better light and use less power to operate. This means longer battery life and better visability with futre lights. All in all buy the led model if you are goin with this light....

CentralUSA says "Very Durable, very dependable, very bright." about Mag-Lite 3 cell D

This is a great flashlight! Just check the batteries for leakage often. The batteries last long so you have to watch them for getting old and leaking. This is one durable light. Drop it, bang it around, it keeps on working. The extra bulb in the end cap is a great idea, too. I would also buy the "AA" mag light too and keep that one in your glove box. Mag Light is the Cadillac of flashlights!...

joyjoy says "Never needs batteries," about No Battery Flashlight

The No Battery Flashlight is just as its name implies. Hand pumping charges the light without the bother of wondering if the batteries are still good. When you first began pumping the light is weak and blue but quickly becomes stronger and becomes pure white light. The longer you pump the longer the illumination. This is easy to use and very convenient (has a carrying strap) but is only found at www.carolwrightgifts.com.
...
