jps246 says "A great choice for a solo tent - lightweight & easy to set up" about Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight Tent

While my Clip Flashlight Tent from Sierra Designs is showing its age (I've had it for 13 years), it's still going strong and I heartily recommend it as a lightweight 2-person tent for three season camping. — Seriously, this is the tent that just keeps on ticking. I've used it so many times I can't count and besides some leaky seams and a bit of fraying here and there, it's just as good as the day I got it. As for the leaky seams, that's nothing that some seam sealer hasn't fixed. — The Tent — The best thing about this tent is the fact that it weighs just 4 pounds and 8 ounces. That's including the vestibule/rainfly! If offers 32 square feet of indoor floor space and an extra six square feet of area if you are using the vestibule/rainfly. That translates into a roomy tent for one person and a slightly more cramped tent for two people. — My biggest complaint about the Clip Flashlight is the fact that it's only 43 inches in...

We bought this tent last summer to go camping, but ended up putting it in our backyard to use for a couple of days. This tent is great...a little complicated to put up at first. We are a family of seven with five kids so the perfect size for us. The tent has two rooms and a small closet with a light that can be put up either inside or outside. definitely recommend this tent if a big family or a couple friends go...

earthgirl says "Great lightweight tent for someone with a budget" about Kelty Teton 2

This is one of the cheapest lightweight 2-person backpacking tents out there. It's super easy to set up even for one person. There is plenty of room inside for 2 people but their gear would have to stay outside and the vestibule isn't as quite big enough to 2 people's gear (there wouldn't be enough room for 2 large men inside the tent). The first night I used it there was a storm and I had no leaks and very little condensation inside the tent. It was also about 45deg outside but it was pretty warm in the tent. My one complaint is that one of the walls is a single wall construction and so the rainfly doesn't come all the way down (my guess is to save on the weight) but since leaks weren't a problem it's not that big of an issue. —...

kevlarbikes says "Great lightweight two-person three-season tent that packs small." about NEMO Equipment Inc. Hypno PQ Tent

I was looking for a lightweight tent with a small packed size to use for bicycle touring. I came across the Nemo Hypno PQ, and it fit the bill perfectly. I first used it for three separate short, two-day bike tours, then took it on a two-week tour in New Mexico. The small packed unit fits perfectly on the top platform of a front or rear bike cargo rack. The included stuff sack is waterproof, which is nice if you get caught in wet weather on the road or trail. Setup was a breeze using the included integrated pump, and it was easy enough that it didn't leave me gasping for breath, even after riding all day at altitudes higher than I am used to. — With the single-wall design, you do get a little more moisture buildup on the inside of the tent compared to typical backpacking tents, but I never found that to be a problem. I stayed dry in varying temperatures and conditions, including some brief rain showers. — Space inside is good, perfect for one person and gear, or two people...

We recently went on an overnight camping trip with a friend. They told us not to bother bringing a tent because they had one that we could all fit in. When we got to the camp site and they brought out the tent I started to wonder how we were all going to fit in it. When they put up the tent and attached it to the back of thier SUV I was intrigued. — The Sportz Suv Mini Van Tent Model Number 81000 — This is actually a tent that attaches to the back end of your min van or SUV and some trucks. You keep the back of the vehicle opened and you can use the back of the SUV or Mini Van for extra sleeping space or for storage space. The other part of the tent is like a normal tent and the floor is attached and you can sleep in that area as well. — The tent is 10ft. by 10ft. it has 3, large no-see-um mesh windows and 4 skylights that provide really good ventilation. It also has 2 large entrance doors and large no-see-um mesh...

I actually bought this tent based on the price and the weight, not really expecting to be so impressed! Lightweight, (4 lbs) its an ideal backpacking tent...the only thing I would change, (and its no biggie) would be if the poles folded up just a little shorter, so it wouldn't stick out when lashed under my pack....But it didn't hinder me in any way... — It has a bathtub floor, and the rainfly covers it completely, VERY important in pouring rain. This awesome little tent has TWO doors and TWO vestibules; great for storing muddy gear you don't want in your sleeping quarters. Very roomy, although so far it's just been me in it. (husband does NOT camp!) But the best thing? The rainfly has windows! No other backpacking tent I've seen (and I've looked at many) has this feature...and what a difference to be able to see the sky even in the pouring rain. :) Also, a nifty little "hammock" you can tie on the ceiling, for your book, or towel, or wet socks... — I...

Wow! What a well made tent. I can't say enough about this tent. It is very easy to put up. Because it is single wall, when you zip down the windows you really have an openness. It is not like crawling into a cave. It is extremely durable. Loaded with features. I love the storage bag that fits to the tent with cinch straps--no cramming into a undersized bag. Heavy duty canvas will keep you dry and comfortable. I really love this tent! Thank you Kodiak...

sdun3 says "The perfect car camping tent!" about REI Base Camp 4 Tent

The REI Base Camp 4 tent is the ultimate car camping tent. We have used it for three years now under all kinds of conditions. We have never had any leaks during heavy rain, nor have we been uncomfortable during hot summer nights as the tent is very well ventilated. It served us well by retaining warmth when night temperatures were in the 20's while fall camping in Yellowstone. — — The Base Camp 4 is a high quality free-standing four person tent, optimal for two or three people to have plenty of room. The dimensions are 60" in height and the floor area of 100" x 86" - 60 sq. feet. (There is also a larger six person REI Base Camp 6 model.) It is very easy to put up; I can do it alone in about ten minutes. — — It is thoughtfully designed and comes with two doors, a full rain fly (with window) that creates a large vestibule area. The rain fly repels rain exceptionally well and retains warmth as needed. The tent...

After doing a bit of research and searching the internet for good deals, I stumbled upon the Sierra Designs Electron. I suppose as background, I consider myself to be a somewhat serious hiker and camper, but cannot afford to spend tons of money on gear. Given that, I am very happy with my choice in purchasing this tent. — — Highlights: — -It is easy to set up after a long day on trail — -Small and fairly lightweight without making on feel claustrophobic — -Handles water and condensation very well. — -If weather looks good and you aren't using the fly, there is a awesome top mesh panel from which to...

Russ says "Fast, light, and no need to disturb your neighbor." about REI Quarter Dome UL Tent

The Quarter Dome packs up at around four pounds. That is crazy light in my book. And you don't have to sacrifice quality to get it. This tent is well made, and all the detail are handled well. Two of those details that I really like are the rain-fly and the zippers. The rain fly has color coded corners to help you get it on right with a minimum of hassle. (If you look at some of my tents, you'll see magic marker notations.) The rain-fly can also be rolled up some after installation, for the view, and adjust back down quickly if circumstances require. The zipper pulls have a reflective coating on them that makes them easier to see in the dark. I'm pretty good at finding them blind, but it's nice not to have to do it. — — One of the weight saving features is that it only uses two poles. This makes for a really fast set up. As John Madden might say,"You got your one pole, and you put it in, and there's another, so you do that one, to. Then BOOM! You're done." It also...

Russ says "Plenty of headroom." about REI Hobitat Tent

The REI Hobitat is a big, comfortable tent. It comes in a 100"x86" 4 person model and a 120"x100" 6 person model. I like it a lot, mainly because of two features. The first is the variably flexible poles. The bottom couple of feet of each pole is more rigid than the rest, leading to straighter sides. This means more head room closer to the sides, allowing normal size people (not me) to stand up. The other really nice feature is the large door. No crawling in and out. The width of the door also helps you avoid climbing other campers. I know larger doors are standard on family style tents like this, but the Hobitat feels good to me. — — The Hobitat has a bunch of storage pockets in two of the corners, and a couple in the other corners. There are plenty of hang loops in the ceiling, for equipment, bags or a gear loft. The rain fly does a good job of keeping out the rain. I would be happier if it had an awning part to form a 'porch', but it does what it's supposed to do....

When my backpacking tent finally gave up the ghost it was time for me to replace it with something substantial. I wanted a light weight backpacking tent that I could use in any weather, here in New England we can get some pretty snowy weather even as late as late spring and early fall. Weather can change pretty rapidly in our mountains so a good tent can make the difference between hearing the weather and being a part of it. — There were many quality tents to choose from from many different manufacturers, price was one of my concerns and 4 season tents can get expensive quickly. After comparing features and prices I settled on the Omega Convertable tent. The vendor I purchased from was good enough to allow me to setup the tent in their store before making the purchase and after a good hard examination I was very satisfied with what I saw. The poles were a tough light aluminum held together with shock...

Russ says "A geat tent for short hauls." about Kelty Quattro 2

This was the first tent I ever bought, and the first dome tent I ever used. This is a very roomy two person tent. It's listed as a three person tent, but I'm 6'6" tall and weigh well over 200#. When I go tent shopping I just look at the floor dimensions and decide with how many people I want to share it. I, personally, couldn't imagine two other people in there. — Setting up the tent is easy. It's also quick once you do it a couple of times. My girlfriend and I set it up in less than ten minutes in a 25mph wind. The places to stick the flexible poles in are 'flagged' with a red triangle, and all the poles are the same length. There is a theoretical optimum order, but as long as you put 1 pole per hole it is gonna go up. The fly goes on over the dome, and it just clips to tabs that the poles are seated in. The front of the fly isn't clearly marked. When I'm out alone, I don't even use the fly unless it's cold. This leaves me with a nice view of the stars since the sides...
