blueworld says "Compact and easy to use." about Brother FAX-575 Plain Paper Thermal Fax

I purchased this plain paper fax machine because it was compact and cheap. It is great for a small office or any room where there is limited space. It uses a thermal transfer ribbon cartridge instead of an ink cartridge. Because it uses a ribbon cartridge, Brother is able to keep the manufacturing costs low. The ribbon cartridge is easy to replace and will print up to 150 pages.

Despite its small size, this fax machine has all the features of a larger machine. It comes with a 10 page auto document feeder. It has 512 KB of memory, so it can save faxes when it runs out of paper. It is also a copier so it can be used to make black-and-white copies. In addition, there is a built-in handset for making and receiving phone calls. It also has the ability to automatically dial stored numbers, and can scan a fax once and transmit it to multiple people.

This is a small, simple and reliable fax machine that is easy for anyone to setup and use.

sissbarb says "Works well for small shredding jobs." about ID Armor Shredder, ID-S60B

I have used this shredder for a little more than a year with no problems. That is the longest one has lasted for me. It will accept six sheets each time. That is enough for my home office use. I have been very careful to stay under the maximum capacity in using it; because feeding too many sheets has ruined the motors on several I've owned in the past. It does have a reverse function that is supposed to help with clearing jamming, but never having been forced to use it I can't report how well this works. I've found it of little help in clearing jamming on others I've had It was very inexpensive and has been a real bargain for me. However, it would not have the capacity for a large office that would find six sheets at a time too time consuming. Also it does not do cross shredding; so it would not provide the safety for some places that require high security functions. It can be used only to shred paper; so a company with lots of plastic materials that required disposal...
...

sissbarb says "Good for small office copying, printing, and faxing." about HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One

I have had it two years and like everything about it except for the fact that it is prone to frequent paper jam. If the paper is not placed in it absolutely right a jam occurs. Also you must be very sure to separate inserted sheets, so they don’t stick together causing a jam. When this happens, it is very hard to remove the offending paper without a danger of damaging the printer. Other wise it is very dependable and has given very good service, and I’ve learned through trial and error how to prevent them. The printing is clear in both black and color. It scans quickly and produces good, clear copies. Photo prints are very good also. The fax on it works well, has auto answering, and speed dial. It provides all the functions that are needed by my home office, and I use it several times everyday. It has not required service. I do wish that the ink cartridges were less expensive and lasted longer. However, this seems to be true of every printer I’ve ever owned, and I’ve not found a...
...

The sentinel MQ60B was a fairly cheap paper shredder. I will definitely spend more on my next shredder. This shredder was supposed to be able to shred up to six sheets at a time and had a center slot for cards to be shredded. I was never able to put more than 3 sheets of paper in at a time. It also would overheat after 10 minutes of use and I would have to let it sit for an hour before starting again. It finally broke after a few years of use. The blades actually bent and jammed with paper.
...

Rent-A-Green Box is this super cool moving box rental company that in one word is totally "AMAZING". I was stressed about the new house that I just bought on a short sale and these guys made it happen. I was super skeptical about the idea of renting plastic moving boxes when it's just as easy to go get free cardboard boxes from the local market. I did not have the time to do the usual dumpster diving, so I gave these green guys a shot. They booked my order on Monday and were here on Wednesday. They suggested 75 Recopacks ( that's the name of their plastic moving box). I thought that I needed less and when they showed up with this cool green truck, they walked my house and said- you'll need at least 75 in this blend of boxes. No extra charge for the review and packing demo which was cool. They gave me 3 sizes and it was the same price. They also sold me just enough packing materials for my move. No hard sell.. not pushy. Actually, it was liek they did not want to sell me more than I needed....
...

Office Max is horrible when it comes to customer service. I went into Office Max to buy a flash drive. They were out of them. I asked if I could get a raincheck and the woman said "we don't do that". The ad never said anything about not getting a raincheck. I asked for a substitute, again "we don't do that" This was one of the worst stores I have ever been to when it comes to customer service. I tried Office Depot and without even asking they allowed me to get a differerent flash drive. Now thats customer service. Do not shop at Office Max as they are rude and do not care about the customer.
...

I work from home and need a shredder. I seem to go through one about every 9-18 months. This one seems really sturdy does the job very well, takes more than a fair number of pages without clogging. In addition it has a slot for cd's and credit cards, warnning lights and a reverse button. The bin slides out so you don't have to take off the top but if you try to put a bag in there to catch the paper it won't close. This is a poor design feature. I have tried bags made for shredders, grocery bags, garbage bags nothing works because the bin has to make contact and close in order for the unit to work. Other than having to climb on the floor and pick up bits of shredded paper every time I clean it out, I'm thrilled with it.
...

NCjohn says "They absolutely don't work in my printer!" about Avery 28877 Clean Edge Business Cards

A few weeks ago, rather than buy business cards from a local printer, I thought it would be easier to make my own on my computer. That way, I could make as many or as few as I wanted, and I could change the design whenever I wanted to. But I hate the ones that have the little perforations along the edges, because they look like they're home-made! I wanted a professional look.

Then I heard about these: Avery "two-side printable" Clean Edge Business Cards (Product #28877) for ink jet printers. These are large sheets of 10 cards each that you print on your printer and then break apart. The edges are so clean you can't tell them from the cards you get from an office supply. I bought some and tried them, and they were a complete disaster! But rather than tell the story all over again, here is the text of the letter I just sent to Avery.

------------------------------

Several weeks ago, I bought a package of Clean Edge business cards, Avery item #28877. I was very disappointed to find them...
...

mrsdean4 says "GREAT trimmer with self sharpening blade and scoring line." about Making Memories 12" paper trimmer

This is a wonderful paper trimmer. I use it daily in my scrapbooking and card making hobby. The trimmer is a full 12 inches but folds along the line that you can use for scoring, making it easy to store and carry.

The blade self sharpens with each use, which is a HUGE plus for me. No more worries about finding the correct blade and changing it out myself.

The unit comes with a magnetic ruler which is very handy, but be careful that you pull it directly off the paper rather than trying to slide it, as it will marr your paper.

The grid is very functional and the templates applied to it are very helpful for cardmakers.

It can cut through several sheets of heavy cardstock at once.
...

A am a purchasing agent for a community bank in North Carolina. We have been struggling with reselling Remote Deposit Merchant Capture check scanners to our customers. Our tellers do not understand how the technology works, and we had no way of demonstrating the products to our merchant customers. We know the ability to offer Remote Deposit services are the future of banking, and it was very frustrating trying to explain this to ur customers.

It was frustrating until we found www.unilinkinc.com ... with Unilink, we are able to purchase Unisys, Panini, Digital Check, Canon, RDM and many more check scanners, as well as other financial equipment such as check joggers, teller receipt printers, signature pads at a significantly competetive rate, and they help us sell to our Merchant customers!

I purchased my Champion paper shredder WQ120D during tax session a few months back. It worked great for the first 4 - 6 weeks... but over time the center blades began to bend and it has become a daily task (when I use it) to clean the blades multiple times.

At this point I believe I am going to give up on it and move back to a more reliable shredder. This is the second shredder I have purchased from WalMart (different brands each time). Both times, I have found the workmanship and durability to be in question. I am going to look at Staples and OfficeMax, pay a few more dollars.. and get something that lasts longer than 2 months.

The store is very nice, I was helped by a wonderful, patient customer associate who worked with me to get the design / look I want for the card. He printed the cards but the cutter wasn't working. The extremely nice manager apologized and said he would go to another store and have them cut but I offered to go since I wanted them ASAP. Once again he apologized and gave me a $10 coupon for the inconvenience.

A friend of mine recently decided to start her own small business, since I am a small business owner myself, and former secretary/office manager she asked me if I would help her out with her office needs. Being a starting small business she did not have a lot of money for starting operating expenses but she needed a fax, a copier, a scanner, and a printer all in one. None of these things needed to be heavy duty at this initial stage of her business but she still needed all of them. She did not really want to spend more than $1000.00 which for all of these things is almost impossible so I did some research and I found a wonderful solution for her.

I found her an all in one machine. The HP Color Laserjet CM2320NF MFP All-In-One. This machine does all 4 of those things all in one nice compact unit. Since she also does not have a lot of space this made this even better. In one compact unit she has everything she needs and it only takes up one small corner in her office.
......

Like many others who have purchased a MailMate, we were impressed with the idea and ability of the machine - at first. Then it just quit. No jams. No overuse. No overheat. Just quit. Seems to be an issue with all MailMate models.

I called Staples, and after moving up the food chain to corporate, finally got a credit for this machine that didn't last 6 months of light use. They were going to just give us half, but the coupon arrived for the full amount, so thanks, Staples.

Unlike others, I then took the shredder apart, identified and fixed the problem. The problem is a 5 amp fuse soldered to the main circuit board. It should probably be a slo-blow type, but apparently is not. I removed it, soldered a couple of wires in place of it and hooked their other ends to a fuse holder I mounted on the case (giving wide berth to the shredder mechanism/motor.) Now, when the fuse blows (which hasn't yet; I'm using slo-blow type) I'll just replace it.
...

This unit is not the "beside-your-desk-throw-away-after-one-year" machine. It is a heavy-duty unit, good for a small office of 5-25 employees. Micro shreds (even better than cross-cut) up to 10 sheets at a time, including staples (paper clips not recommended). Separate feed slot for CDs, credit cards, etc. Fellowes offers the best customer service of any company I've dealt with. Our unit arrived with one of the roller/casters broken. Appeared to have been damaged in transit by UPS. I filed report with UPS, but was told to contact the shipper (since they paid the freight). Fellowes immediately shipped a replacement roller, without even asking for date or proof of purchase.
...

Buying this shredder was the worst thing I could have done. It's not a safe shredder, because it has an auto on/off switch. While it wasn't in use my 8-month old puppy knocked it over with her paw. She then tried to pick it up with her mouth, and her tounge got stuck. It shredded half her tounge into little strips. We had to rush her to the vet where she underwent 3 and a half hours of very expensive surgery. Because of this shredder, my puppy has a damaged tongue. If anyone has puppies, cats, even young children DO NOT BUY THIS SHREDDER!!!!!!!!!!!!
...

AmazinFan says "Very good for home use and protecting your personal information " about Fellowes Powershred®SB-97CS Shredder

Over the years I have purchased several shredders for home use and have never found one I was truly happy with, until I purchased Fellowes brand. This is a shredder capable of handling up to 12 sheets at a time. With its cross-cut design your personal, confidential papers will be useful to anyone trying to steal your identity.

However, since I am a bit hard to please I have to admit I do find it very cumbersome to empty the basket without making somewhat of a mess in the surrounding area. The basket is a very generous size making it great for not having to be emptied too frequently, but the drawback is a full basket that is difficult to manage without help.
...

Beverlyruiz says "Brother Intellfax is so easy to use" about Brother IntelliFAX 775 Plain Paper Thermal transfer Fax

I needed a good simple fax machine and went on several websites and looked at prices. I aslo was looking for something easy to use and set up. I also did not want another big printer and this brother fax machine is small it is on my dresser close t o the computer. I needed to buy for the work I was going to get and need to fax alot in a month. I like that the cartrigde on the brother fax machine does about 250 pages and that is alot. IT faxes and copies very fast and easy. not alot of noise. It holds 100 sheets of paper so you do not need to reload all the time. I only paid 40.00 dollars for it and it came with the first cartridge at frys.com great products and prices from them. so if you want a simple fax with a copier and with a phone this is great for you. the only thing is if you want to copy something in color you can not print in color. Just look around for the right fax for you, but again if you want simple easy fast and an extra phone get the brother intellifax 775 plain paper thermal...
...

thecomputergal says "Very nice service at Staples in Missoula, MT" about Staples Stores

This is actually a review of two Staples stores - one positive experience (Missoula, MT) and one negative experience (Brattleboro, VT.)

I needed to copy and put together some workbooks for a workshop. The gent who worked with me at the Missoula location was excellent - more than helpful, personable, and made the time spent enjoyable.

My very happy experience lead me to go back to Staples - in Brattleboro, VT. The store wasn't as clean and the young woman at the copy desk gave me the monotone, "I could care less about this job" voice I have heard from high schoolers. Then, when I tried to use their papercutters, they were so dull, I could have trimmed my papers with fingernail scissors more successfully.
...
