MysteriousBlogger says "Very Satisfied with Orkin" about Orkin

I recently bought a multi-family home in November. The 2nd floor apartment that I was moving in had a serious roach problem! I had only 3 weeks to get it under control before I moved in so I called Orkin. The tech came out and was very informative. I had him treat all 3 apartments and come out once a week for a follow up. By the time I moved into the apartment I did not see any live roaches only dead ones. Recently I saw a baby roach but that was to be expected since I was informed that there might be eggs pending to hatch. I was totally freaked out but Orkin is coming again next week for a follow up treatment. Overall, I am very satisfied considering how bad the situation was before I hired Orkin. Now, I don't see any roaches other than the baby one I killed 2 days ago.

Advice: Tips: outside of Orkin's treatment I also did my own treatment. I think these helped a lot.

1) the kitchen counters and cubbards are always clean and free of clutter. I keep all boxed foods...
...

jaw373 says "What's happening to UPS...they are not what they used to be...." about United Parcel Service (UPS) MD

Whats going on with UPS of late. They are not as customer oriented as they used to be. Making changes that effect the receipient of packages that are very inconvenient. Also the delivery is so much like "ACE VENTURA" it's not funny.

Today I received an expensive delivery and was shocked at the way it was handled. The box was heaved (as it sounded from the otherside of my front door) into the chair outside my home.

Besides the fact that the shipper did not pack it very well in the first place, UPS did not consider that it may be a fragile item inside. They just throw and go.....

Sad, sad, sad. ....I bet they wouldn't like it if the delivery was reversed.
...

jaw373 says "WORST ROAD CLEAN UP...EVER!!! Awful Awful Job - What Happened!" about Anne Arundel Co. MD Dept. of Public Works (Snow Removal)

The December 18, 2009 storm went down in the record books for Maryland for the biggest snowfall in that month. It will also go down as the WORST ROADS CLEAN-UP in history too. I have never seen as poor a job on the roads as I have from this past weekends storm.

Main roads seem to be the tunnel vision - but keep in mind - you have to get from the side road first before you can hit that main road.

Even roads like Crain Highway, Ritchie Highway and Quarterfield road were still snow covered, going from not quite 2 lanes down to 1 without warning. We had no left turn lanes on Ritchie nor Crain until MR. SUN came out today and then some became passable. Ramps were haphazardly plowed and snow packed. Side streets that were normally hit atleast once with a plow and then with salt...were lucky to be hit once. Trucks seemed to ride up and down streets but not doing anything.

Then we see trucks on 97 plowing the area next to the pull off zone. What the heck are they worried about that for when we...
...

Pacakage delivered and since no one is home to sign for it, which is understandable. But why would it be taken 50 miles to another fedex location when I have one 4 miles from my home. They want me to drive that milage to pick it up, or wait for 4 days and it be re-delivered. Whatever!!!! This is the very reason I use UPS or USPS when shipping packages. And ontop of that why would you try to deliver a package in a van with dark tinted windows with no business name on it. What they don't understand is people are being robbed this time of year and a plain white van is not the way to arrive. I have security cameras and wasn't sure who this was until I seen the worker. They make door magnets for vehicles. Come on Fedex, because I'm FedUP.
...

My ADP experience has been excruciatingly painful. I run a business with 24 employees and have used QuickBooks payroll for about 9 years. I have not been happy with quickbooks due to their proclivity to sell you more junk constantly. I was looking for an alternative. Lots of other people have moved to ADP, and a salesman called me with an offer that I could not refuse. Long story short, it has created a great deal of ADDITIONAL work for me, and they charge you for it. Their customer service people are very good, but why should I need to use them? Their EZpay web interface is a great idea with many hidden problems. The salesman says, "delivery by noon, on friday? No Problem!" This deadline was missed 3 times in 7 attempts, because they have no way of telling you when you are going to get your checks! That has not gone over too well with our employees. And, if a mistake is made (which is very easy to do with their product), becareful, because if you void checks, it automatically creates new...
...

Kelli Padilla was a godsend to me. What a wonderful and knowledgeable agent she turned out to be. She bent over backwards to make sure that my home was sold. I didn't make it easy on her, as my house was a huge mess, filled with way too much clutter and junk.

Over the months that I worked with her, I found out how diligent and savvy she turned out to be very competent and up to date on all of the foreclosure rules. I have heard stories of other agents who didn't watch the foreclosure timeline and ran out of options for their customers. Kelli knew all of the tricks of the trade, doing everything within her power to keep my mortgage from going into foreclosure. She has surrounded herself with an equally knowlegeable team that all works together to insure the sale of the property.
See for yourself kjhomefinder.com
I would highly recommend her to anyone who finds themselves in the same boat as me. What could have been a disastrous and stressful time (losing my home), was...
...

I filled out their online form to set up an appointment for a termite inspection. Once I did that, I was shown that "An Orkin representative will contact you shortly". I never got a call so I called Orkin to find out why. I received a canned apology and was told my request would be forwarded to a local office and I'd be contacted by someone from that office. I never received a call and it is now 2 weeks later. When I am trying to get a contractor or anyone to do work for me, they are automatically fired in the initial stages if they can't return calls or do something when promised. This is indicative of the quality of work I'd receive (or lack of quality) if I hired them. Orkin cannot even make an appointment for me so I guess they do not need new business and must be doing well enough to blow off new customers.
...

We've been with ADP TotalSource for about 6 months. Our benefits experience was so bad, we were back into a corner when we receive a 48% health insurance increase. First of all there is a disconnect between what your told and what you actually get. Their pricing is HIGH, and contracts are very difficult to understand, you really don't know how to determine what you're paying for. We were told things during the sales presentation that were later found out to be untrue, even during the intial implemetation phase. It was among the poorest implementations I've been through. Numerous errors, tons of follow-up on our end, to the point my HR team was questioning 'why do we need them, there creating more work for us'. Our joke around the office that ADP TotalSource was actually ADP NoSource. As HR Director, I spend 80% of my time complaining to the higher-up about service issues and trying to convince my HR team that this was a good decesion, even though in my gut I felt I had made a mistake. I...
...

I am a Dentist who has been using ADP for several years off and on. I do my payroll online and find that the only time things go awry is when they get involved. The latest issue arose when ADP tried to correct a mistake in my employees' 401k which they infact caused. I had called several times to correct the mistake and each time I was told the problem was corrected. Needless to say it wasn't. Finally the deductions were being made and the staff and I were all happy. That was until I got a letter from ADP saying that the deductions weren't being funded! After several hours of investigation, I found that what had happended is that due to a change in the management of the fund, we were now 'changing platforms'. It appears that one branch of ADP ceased the withdrawl of funds due to the change but the other branch never reinstated them. Well that was finally fixed and the sum was deducted from my bank and supposedly deposited in my employees 401k accounts. Turns out that...
...

Paychex is an awesome company. They are there to help in any way they can for your small business and even large businesses. My husband and I have had our own drywall business since 2002. In the beginning we thought we could do all the accounting part by ourselves. We soon found out that this wasn't possible since I was working another full time job myself. So we enlisted the help of Paychex. The agents were really helpful in explaining the options of what they do and listened attentively to what we wanted.

We essentially used Paychex for all these years. They are really priced well not over priced on any of the services they offer. They complete all the tax forms needed for the business including: form 940, quartely reports, end of the year forms, W2 sheets, etc. Any time we had an issue they were a phone call away. They even made it easy to get the payroll. You have the choice to pick up weekly from their office or have it conveintly mailed for an additional small fee of postage cost....
...

JaguarPC has a great webhosting system - if you can get into it! All I need is a simple answer about using server side includes in their system. Not a messy security or programming problem for them to deal with, just a simple question.

1) Their help system will take me an hour to get any answers. A search on the problem brings up dozens of irrelevant links to weed through.

2) I have to open another window to get any help, because I have to go to the main JaguarPC page - have these guys ever heard of a link? Why can't tech support be linked from your control panel? They really should get some interface advice.

3) In order to contact them for help, I have to log in - a great thing if your question is about loggin in!

4) My password for the main system doesn't work. I have had to change it so many times, trying to get into this system, and now the latest one doesn't work.

5) So, I can't open a ticket, and I can't ask my question.

I was recently in charge of ADP implementation for a small business. It was a nightmare.

I had to deal with ADP contract workers in different states that only deal with their own particular area ( ezlabor, pay expert, etc.) I dealt with at least 5 people in charge of different areas. There was conflicting information within this group and no communication between the different areas. There was no overall direction or cohesiveness with ADP directly.

In the ADP sales pitch they stated that an ADP rep would be onsite for the first live payroll... this did not happen. The first live payroll took 4 days on the phone with people from Atlanta, Orlando, Indiana, CA and elsewhere to get this sent to ADP. It was a mess. There were numerous problems ADP said they would correct before running the payroll, but did not. It was a horrible experience.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and cross my fingers and hope the bugs go away, but even if I never see another bug from today I'm never using Orkin again! I had to be out of my house from 8-5pm, now thats a decent amount of time which would not have been a problem except, on their little 'do this' sheet they say '10. We will lcok all doors when leaving, so make sure you have your keys' (direct quote from the sheet). I come home at 530pm to find my font (and only) door completely unlocked, and this is not a nice neighborhood, who knows how long everything I own was vulnerable! Also, the broke into my bedroom, which I had locked because it didn't need treatment and I don't want people in there, and have a reptile who would be returning and is sensitive to poison, and they didn't even have the courtesy to close the door when they left. They certainly didn't have a problem leaving all of the lights on in the house though. Now I can understand maybe they needed to break into the bedroom...
...

thecomputergal says "I can send packages any time I want - day or night" about USPS Mailing Stations

With 5 children and 5 step-children, not to mention friends and family, I have a lot of presents to mail! Just this week, I had two baby gifts, a gift to a friend, and another package to mail. Instead of waiting in a half hour+ line at the post office, I went to the USPS mailing kiosk on Sunday and mailed two of my packages at my own convenience! Then, when the other two were ready, I mailed them at the kiosk during business hours while other folks were lined up through the post office waiting area!

When these mailing centers first showed up in our main post office, the user interface was somewhat ornery. If you got your payment card in the slot backwards, you had to start over. But, the folks who maintain these machines are on the ball. I have noticed a continual improvement in the system - which means that they care about it and are paying attention!

Now, if they would only put one in all the small post offices too!
...

thecomputergal says "Bridgemaxx hurts business" about Bridgemaxx

Coffee shops and other businesses offering wireless internet access are a great service for business meetings. However, when the wireless service is poor, the shop empties out. That's what's happened to the Hardback Cafe in Missoula, MT. The coffee is great. The service is great.

I frequently go there between meetings and errands, as my home office is out of town. Lately, however, their wireless has been up and down. So, when I get there, get my laptop set up, and get my coffee, I have to turn around and pack it all up and go somewhere else because I can't have a meeting with a web development business associate with no wireless. So, today, we went to City Brew where the wireless is great too! To my surpirse, another business acquaintance, who I frequently visit with at Hardback Cafe was at City Brew. She couldn't depend on the wireless at Hardback Cafe either.

The problem is BridgeMaxx. Hardback Cafe switched to BridgeMaxx because their previous provider wasn't all that great. BridgeMaxx...
...

MtnFun says "Fed Ex Rip-Off; Borders on Fraud" about FedEx

I ordered an item that was supposed to be delivered to my house. No phone call or appointment was made for delivery. I was given no tracking number and had no idea when it might arrive from the company I ordered it from. I get home from work yesterday and find a FedEx door tag saying a delivery was attempted but because nobody was home, a re-delivery must be made. I call the number on the tag and am told I can leave a signed note stating it's OK to leave the item. No extra delivery charges were mentioned. This morning I get a call asking to arrange a delivery appointment and there will be a $77 re-delivery fee. I ask, "Why is there an extra charge when no appointment was made for the previous delivery attempt?" FedEx claims they called me and made an appointment, however, that would have been impossible because nobody was home when they claimed they called and I never spoke to them. FedEx refused to waive the fee. I ask for a supervisor. That supervisor asks their supervisor and then...
...

RioRed747 says "Don't EVER use ADP (too bad I can't give zero stars)" about ADP

Working with ADP has been an absolute nightmare. I would never recommend them to anyone for any reason. Some of the issues we've encountered have been as follows:

1. Failure to make tax deposits (for which I received a warning from the federal taxing entity).

2. Failure to follow up with me regarding urgent notices I received from taxing entities (about tax deposits that they did not make).

3. Consistent and repeated failure to provide us with accurate information regarding inquiries we made about our payroll taxes.

4. ADP applied for a tax number/account in a state/city where we had NO employees.

5. I submitted a change of address for an employee multiple times before it was actually taken care of.

6. ADP lacks competent customer service representatives.

7. ADP lacks competent technology.

I could go on and on (and on and on) about the experience, but to make a very long story short, it will cost our business thousands to have our payroll audited after...
...
