adolyn says "Conveinient, friendly and a godsend when needed. " about Space Center Storage - Lexington, KY

In may of 2009 I needed a storage unit. I called around everyhwere and what seemed like a simple thing was beginning to turn into alot of red tape. I needed a storage space pronto --I lucked out when i called space center storage!!! They were friendly on the phone and willing to help as I had my sister paying the initail payment with her credit card. It was all done over th e phone with 3 way calling. Other companies were not so eager to do this however the staff at space storage did not have a problem with it. I really appreciated that !!! I kept th eunit for approcximately 6 months. I really like the set up they have . They had a variety of sizes and the one I chose was 83 per month. But it was well worth it !!! I was impressed. You had a choice of climate controlled or not. The actual units were inside a building so all I had to do was pull up to the door of my builing , right next to it and unload my furniture etc which made it easy for me as I was moving things...
...

merzoo says "Thai Basil offers the best food I've ever had in a restaurant." about Thai Basil Restaurant - DeRidder, LA

DeRidder is a small town and basically has the typical fast food places, a steak house and several restaurants serving southern cuisine. I like to try new foods so when a new restaurant came to town, I was excited.

My first taste and I was smitten. I have tried several dishes, pad thai, curry, honey duck, soup, larb salad, home made spring rolls, fried ice cream, mango sticky rice and they have all been excellent. I enjoy bold flavors and Thai Basil satisfies the craving.

The chef use to work at an upscale restaurant in San Francisco and I am mystified as to how he and his family found their way to such a small, southern town. The chefs daughter is the hostess and is a true delight. Her mother makes a labor intensive specialty on occasions that is filled with love. In fact, you can taste the passion in each dish that is sent from the kitchen.

I have lived in Tucson and San Diego but nothing I've ever had in these large cities compares to the jewel of Thai Basil.
...

onwaytozion says "Peddler's Village is a fun place to shop, dine, or just hang out" about Peddler's Village - Lahaska, Bucks County, PA

If you're used to malls and chain stores, Peddler's Village is a breath of fresh air. There are winding brick pathways through the open air taking you from one delightful store to another in barn red buildings, with an abundance of park benches along the way amid waterwheels and ponds. The stores aren't cut from a cookie cutter: They come in different sizes and different levels. The well-landscaped grounds give you a countryside feel. The stores aren't all trendy high-priced boutiques or stores you could find anywhere else. It's definitely a place to linger.

I visited Peddler's Village the weekend before Thanksgiving, but Christmas was definitely in the air. The Village Gazebo already housed the entries to the annual Gingerbread House contest, which awards cash prizes to winners in several age groups and categories. Each store was gearing up for the holiday season. As we exited a store as dusk fell, we were greeted with the sight of a glorious light display. Each tree and shrub was covered...
...

I have lived in the Metro Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, going on about
fifteen years now and have come across some really unique and interesting
shops and stores for Unique Christmas Ornaments. My daughters and I love
window shopping during the Christmas season to see all the new Christmas
stuff we can find, although I am secretly getting an idea of what they
want for Christmas. Some of these stores and shops specialize in just
Christmas stuff, while the other stores and shops have a little of
everything in them.

I came across this first unique little store on my way home from work
one night and decided to stop and check it out since I had never been
there before. The name of the store is The North-Pole and is off I-240
and S.W. 44th on the access road as you exit the highway. This store
amazed me. It has everything from trains to trees and even has a carousel
ride for the younger children. They have the most unique set up I have
ever seen and it is a really cozy family orientated shop. It has some...
...

Sabella's Ravioli - Revere, MA

If you've never had a fresh homemade ravioli you don't know what you're missing.

Sabella's Ravioli shop located in Revere Massachusetts is a real gem of a find. They make some of the best homemade Italian specialties around. Famous for their fresh ravioli, these pasta pillows are filled with ricotta and select cheeses that are a thing of culinary beauty. They're so plump and tender it's as if grandma made a fresh batch just for you.

I often buy these during the Christmas holiday, my family is in love with them and I usually cook at least three dozen. Ask me if there are any leftovers and my answer will always be "are you kidding" !? of course not ! These can be served with any number of sauces from traditional tomato, creamy alfredo, sage butter, and even a light marinara.

No trip to the Berkshires in Massachusetts would be complete without visiting the Hancock Shaker Village. It was originally founded in 1783 and became one of 19 Shaker communities. Today, many of these communities has disappeared, and this site houses the largest collection of Shaker memorabilia on any original Shaker site. The village includes a Center for Shaker Studies.

The most well-recognized symbol of the village is the round stone barn. Don't miss the farm animals in a far wing. There are also dwelling houses, the one-room school, a meeting house, and various craftsmen workshops to explore. Guides present talks at various times to lend insight into the Shaker way of life.

The kids will spend the most time in the hands-on Discovery Room. There they'll be able to try out period toys and games, try on Shaker clothing, and even milk a life-size replica cow named Mary Jane.

There are special events offered throughout the year, including partaking in a Shaker dinner. The gift shop sells...
...

seekjustice says "Triangle Towing - Illegal Towing Scam" about Triangle Towing - Ann Arbor, MI

Triangle Towing owners Scott and Laura Snuvernick and Campus Realty owners John and Lois Stegeman have an illegal towing scam at 520 South Forest Avenue in Ann Arbor Michigan. Michigan laws says signs have to be posted and prominently displayed at designated vehicular access points. This is a large parking lot with no signs. Tow truck drivers watch people park and then tow them immediately. How do they get away with this? John and Lois Stegeman own part of the road in front of the parking lot. They put signs on the street, but no one knows these signs also cover the parking lot. These road signs, however, do not satisfy Michigan law because signs have to be prominently displayed at access points. This is so manipulative its stunning. The Ann Arbor Police and City Government are part of the scam, refusing to rectify the situation and being abusive to anyone who tries.
...

I love this place. The Daily Fiber Yarn Co. is located in an industrial park in Murrieta. The shop is easy to find and there is always plenty of parking. Peggy and Debbie are the best. Actually, I've run into many lovely women at Daily Fiber, customers and employees. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. They have a nice little place to sit in the front to have a little coffee and chat with the knitters and crocheters. There is a to-die-for collection of yarns. If you love yarn, you will love this shop. Everything is so yummy. They have classes and host retreats, and knit-alongs. There is always someone there to take time with you to offer a little help or give some suggestions. I recommend this shop to EVERYONE!!!
...

Well, I rented a unit with Extra Space Storage on Franlin Blvd in Sacramento, CA. And I did not like it at all. Yes, first you have low prices, but then raise up the prices every 6 months or so. So I rented a unit for originally $49.00 and after 1 year but less than 1 1/2 years I paid $67.00. So what, that are $18.00 difference, right? And that I got always this calls... Always bothered me, for every little thing. Left me messages to call back, it was important (which wasn't at all). And then when I decided to cancel my account with them and to close the unit. They were very unprofessional with me. I went there the first time because of the cancellation and they could not give me a right answer. (But I did my homework and read their policy again, before I went there.) That person did not even look at me while I was talking to that person. It looked like that he/ she was otherwise occupied, maybe by the Solitaire game, who knows? After I got the attention, they say I would not get a refund...
...

Metro St. Louis is the mass transit (or public transit) system in the St. Louis area. Thank God they recently received a bunch of government money to restore (at least temporarily) some of the bus routes lost in the recession.

Metro-Link is the light rail system and my favorite way to get there quickly. Bicycles are allowed in the rear area of a Metro-Link car. Not counting wait time for a train to arrive...I can get across town darn near as fast as a car. Zipping along parallel to the Forest Park Expressway - the Metro-Link actually travels faster than the cars. An out-of-towner can save time & money by taking the Metro-Link from the airport to downtown. How's $2.25 sound vs. probably $30 or more for a taxi? The trains run about every 15 minutes. If you miss one, there's not a long wait for another.

Metro-Bus is another story. It seems they are always overcrowded. But yet, Metro St. Louis claims they are losing money. The saving grace for me is the fold down racks...
...

The Bluffton Farmer's Market is open every Thursday afternoon from May until October. The market has an amazing array of fresh fruits and vegetables. Local farmers set up their trucks, tables and displays along both sides of the street. It is easy for shoppers to walk up and down the street checking out prices. Along with the fruits and vegetables there are other interesting items to purchase such as, honey, canned goods, candy, and plants. The market has become so popular that special entertainment features have been added. So while you shop you can listen to music. Since parking is at a premium in the area a shuttle golf cart will deliver you to and from your car. There are also several shops on the street you can check out. Calhoun Street is a quirky place with the motto "Bluffton is a state of mind". You will understand if you visit Calhoun Street and the Bluffton Farmer's Market. PS no animals are allowed in the area.
...

The trail itself is about 11 miles long and at times provides some breathtaking views. On the other hand, it also runs parallel to north St. Louis - one of the most economically depressed areas in the city. But I still felt safe for two reasons. #1) Lots of other bikers. Almost everyone carries a cell phone now-a-days. #2) Security cops; I saw at least two on my ride.

Fantasy Kingdom is one of the best places in Chicago that I take my daughter. It is a little pretend village for kids to play. They have a police station, fire dept, market, and a house with slides. The entire area is gated with another smaller gated area within the first for children under 2 years of age. Children from 6 month to 6 years can go there and play to their hearts content for $12 each. adults are free with a paying child.

They also have outfits so the kids can dress up as a princess or fire fighter and many more. There is a nice kitchen area with a fridge where you can put lunch and snacks. Then when playtime is over, or they are on a break they can sit and have a snack and color. Parking is kind of rough on the street sometimes, but they have a garage where parking is $5. make sure to bring socks for all adults and children. as your children play, you can sit and read the paper, work on your laptop, or talk with other parents, assured that your children are safe and within...
...

WOW what great movers. I've had all types of problems moving places in the past and I think Moishe's is the first company to really get things right. A freind of mine who had used them before recommended them to me and im really glad he did. Before I even called them up I was very impressed by all their moving tips on their companies website, specifically some of their blog posts (Moishes website has a ton) specifacally in how to move a fridge, which I had no idea (I had just bought a new fridge two weeks before I decided to move and I didnt want to buy a new one.

When they came to my apartment they were very quick about getting all of my stuff into their truck and we made it to my new house much earlier than I expected. Excellent movers, cannot reccomend highly enough.Plus they were cheap too.
...

Meri says "The oldest operating Inn in America...what a treat!" about Longfellow's Wayside Inn - Sudbury, MA

I recently went on a bus tour with my District Garden Tour to Longfellow's Wayside Inn in Sudbury, Massachusetts and then on to the New England Wild Flower Society's Garden in the Woods in Framingham, Massachusetts. It was a delightful trip that I will long remember.

Our first stop [other than a rest stop not worth mentioning] was the National Historic Site of Longfellow's Wayside Inn. As the bus pulled into the property we saw a beautiful old stone grist mill quietly turning the water over and over. We learned later that the grist mill was an early reproduction built by Henry Ford in 1929.

The bus pulled up the entryway of the Inn and let us out. We were welcomed in and ushered upstairs to a large dining hall where tables and tables had been set in our honor. We were then served a buffet lunch consisting of homemade clam chowder, fabulous sandwich fixings, several kinds of salads and breads. For dessert we were served old fashioned fresh apple cobbler pie with freshly whipped...
...

OldHippie says "It's About Time - Honoring a Vet" about Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park - East St. Louis, IL

Opening on June 6, 2009 the Malcolm W. Martin Memorial Park is located in cash strapped E. St. Louis, IL. But the question remains...what took so long? Located across the Mississippi River from the Gateway Arch, it's not only a park, but an observation deck for viewing and photographing one of America's great landmarks.

So who was Malcolm W. Martin? Copy & paste from the web site...

Malcolm W Martin was born in St. Louis in 1912. He graduated from Yale University in 1933 and St. Louis City College of Law in 1941. In 1941 he co-founded Martin, Peper, and Martin with his father and Chris Peper. Shortly after founding the firm, the United States entered into World War Two. Martin was drafted into the U.S. Army as a private, spending much of his service time in London. He was promoted to sergeant, and was later involved in planning the D-Day invasion at Normandy; he studied the tides of the English Channel to find the best place, time, and method for the ships to arrive on the beaches....
...

OldHippie says "Still Looking for a Good Cup of Java" about Shaw's Coffee Ltd. - Saint Louis, MO

Out for a little 8 mile jaunt this morning (06-02-2009) on my trusty Trek Navigator I bought from craigslist, I felt the urge coming on to find a restroom. Seeing that it was only 7:30 in the morning, about the only thing open in "The Hill" (Italian) neighborhood was Shaw's Coffee Ltd.

What the heck... I can always use another shot of good coffee. Too bad I didn't find it. I felt obliged to buy something seeing that I needed their restroom. Shaw's Coffee is a rustic, friendly looking place, with plenty of real wooden furniture & decor inside. Outside on the wide sidewalk is about 5 metal tables & matching chairs. It's a very quaint arrangement.

Every once in a while, I don't mind paying an over-inflated price for a good cup of coffee. ($1.84 with tax for a small.) However, when it's bitter - it's not worth 2 cents. They also sell the usual scones, bagels & cookies...at a premium price. From what I could tell, they also offer free Wi-Fi for laptop users. On the...
...

darlyn63 says "I am treated like I am important" about Best Bank (inside Kroger) - Troy, MI

When this Best Bank first opened, I met all the people. Very friendly. They look out for your best interest, with there suggestions. Never pushy. Always pleasant, and have time to talk to you. We have a credit card also with them, and we hadn't used it in a while. I'll say within 10 minutes they called my home to ask if we were using it. My husband had used it to put gas in his truck. I couldn't believe it. It was like they were right on top of it. They call you by name, ask how you are doing, gives you the old fashioned way of banking. Their hours are great 7 days a week. I can run in do my banking and it's fast and very friendly. I appreciate banking this way. Best Bank, I had never heard of until they came into the old Farmer Jacks. They haven't changed since it is now Kroger. I feel important. Thanks Best Bank. Tell them you heard it on here, they'll be surprised.
...
