abinmi says "Love the Merry Go Round!" about Birchwood Mall - Fort Gratiot, MI

Birchwood Mall is very nice. I live in the Thumb and my daughter and grandchildren live in the City. Birchwood is where we meet to grab a bite in the food court, play on the playscape and ride that beautiful Merry Go Round. They also have Amigo's available for Grandma! I can't stress enough to these large shopping complexes the importance of Amigo's to get around on. I have a heart condition and would never be able to go there is they didn't have them.

I have never actually "shopped" at this mall, but I am sure that the day will come when I will!

We just noticed that they have a Chuck E Cheese's too! We intend to hit that next time.

We also like the family rest room.
...

"Welcome to Dollar Tree. Yes, you heard me right everything in the store is a dollar. Unless of course you get a variety of greeting cards and candy bars which are usually priced at 2/$1." Okay, so maybe you don't get the department store greeting but what do you expect? Where did the sheer genius come from for someone to develop a store and no questions asked set one price on everything? I love this place. In my area they are always situated in the same shopping center as Wal-Mart or within a few miles of one.
My Shaybo got me hooked on Dollar Tree. I never had a desire to go in the store believing it was going to be cheap frivolous junk but boy was I wrong! I probably go in the store at least twice a month. When I make a shopping list or Christmas list I put DT beside the items that I know I can pick up at the Dollar Tree.

Well, I have been there so many times I basically know the store layout like the back of my hand (oh wow another freckle) so let's take the...
...

GigiandAdonai says "The store is alive with the sounds of music." about San Francisco Music Box Company - Gaithersburg, MD

This store is a great place to shop if you know someone who is interested in collectibles or that very special keepsake. Years ago I was told that every item in the store plays music. The company also has some of its products in Hallmark stores but while on vacation I had the joy of actually going into the San Francisco Music Box store at Lake Forest Mall in Gaithersburg, MD. Talk about a walk thru memory lane or a girl's dream come true. They had everything you could imagine from music boxes, jewelry boxes, snow globes, figurines, eggs, and photo frames. The gifts are unlimited here-something for everyone! It even spawned a few more ideas of collectibles for me!
I am a collector of many things and one of them is music boxes and snow globes. One of my guest rooms is decorated in a Wizard of Oz theme and many of my collectibles for this room come from this store. My larger guest room is decorated in a porcelain doll, Barbie and Beauty & The Beast decor and many of those...
...

I don't shop at dollar stores very often but when I do, I always go to my local Dollar Tree. The store is clean (and doesn't have that yucky dollar store smell that so many discount stores have), the employees friendly, and I almost always find what I am looking for. If I don't find it, you can bet that I'll find something else that I didn't realize that I needed.

Today, I needed a last-minute pirate hat for my son's kindergarten assignment. Because I was right next-door to a Family Dollar store, I decided to check there first. I found one pirate hat for $3. I was tempted to buy it and go home, but the Dollar Tree was just across the parking lot so it made financial sense to check it out.

Well, it made financial sense if I had just purchased the pirate hat for $1 and left the store. However, when I'm inside a Dollar Tree store, I can't just buy one thing. The fun of going to the Dollar Tree is looking around and finding all kinds of neat things that I just HAVE to have. ...
...

Merritt Square mall may not be the biggest mall around but in this case size doesn't matter. You will find everything you need in this one place. From JcPenney's to Sears there is nothing you won't find. You have shops ranging from the more expensive to the ones where everything is a deal even when it is not on sale. The food court offers something for everyone and if you require more of a restaurant there are more than one to choose from. With a movie theater right there you can also take a nice break from all your shopping and you sure can't beat the dessserts you find there....

lilsquibb says "Preuss Pets - A small zoo cleverly disguised as a pet store" about Preuss Pets - Lansing, MI

There is a big difference between Preuss Pets (pronounced Proos) and pretty much any other pet store around.... the huge selection of animals available, the knowledgeable employees and the fantastic displays.

Locally owned and operated, Preuss Pets has long been one of my favorite pet stores to just wander into. This became even more so after the store moved into what is considered “Old Town” in Lansing, making it even more accessible for us. On those rainy day Preuss became a great place to take my son to explore the vast display of small animals. Then once we obtained a huge fish tank, Preuss became the only place to purchase our fish supplies.

A Zoo in A Store
“We endeavor to make our store a destination all its own.“ Ever since my son could walk, we have enjoyed bringing him to the Preuss Animal House. Not only does the adventure kill at least an hour of time, he learns about the various animals on display. This makes a great rainy day adventure.

Visitors are greeted on......

epsgambler says "Old World German Wurst in an Eclectic Portland Area" about Otto's Sausage Kitchen and Meat Market - Portland, OR

We have lived across the Columbia River from Portland for nearly a year now. We have friends from the area. We had, however, to learn about Otto's Sausage Kitchen in an article on the ten best hot dogs in America in USA Today. We went to discover this unique part of Germany ensconced in the eclectic Portland neighborhood of Woodstock that very same day. We return regularly now. As we have raved about Otto's to local friends they seem amazed we didn't know about it. They have told us of their favorites there and we have tried them. Now some of them are our favorites too. In the hope that those we forget to sing the praises of Otto's to will read some of our reviews, we decided to tell the world about it here.

I have wandered the streets of several German cities and seen their Wurst markets. Now I can go to Portland and do the same. Otto Eichentopf came to Portland from Germany. He had trained as a sausage maker in his home country. In 1929 he opened his sausage kitchen in Portland.
JazzSinger says "There really is such a brand as Plochman's mustard." about Dollar Tree - Lafayette, LA

Let me start by saying that although I chose the Dollar Tree closest to my home to review, this is moreso a review of Dollar Tree in general.

Dollar Tree is a chain of, you guessed it, dollar stores tht sells the typical assortment of items you normally see in dollar stores. What I really like about Dollar Tree is that everything in the store really is $1 (or less). I've shopped at Family Dollar and Dollar General, and their prices on name brand name items isn't any better than a supermarket. NOTHING at Dollar Tree costs more than a dollar.

Ok, so how do they do this? It's done through a combination of off brands and smaller sized containers of name brand products. For example, I bought those Caribou Coffee granola bars I reviewed at Dollar Tree. The come in a box of 2 bars, which costs $1 (surprise, surprise). I've bought travel sized, name brand deodorant at Dollar Tree which costs less per unit than a regular sized container.

Oh, and the off brands are a source of entertainment...
...

Our party of eight left the Yakov Smirnoff show and split up. Honey and Johnny went back to the Angel Inn to relax until our night out at the Dixie Stampede. The other six clambered into the Thrifty van rental and headed for some shopping fun. There are several outlet malls in Branson. We chose the ones with the red roofs sitting on a hill North of the the main drag, Route 76, and headed there.

there are over 50 shops in this mall, one of the first to make an appearance in Branson. As in most malls the bulk of the shops cater to the fairer, and most-money-spending, sex. There are a few for the family and even fewer for the guys. We split up with the girls heading for clothes and shoes and the two guys heading for Tools for Less and the Case knife outlet. My sister found a couple of things in the Christian Gift Outlet, two of the other girls found bargains too good to pass up in a couple of the clothing stores, we guys just looked this time. We all met at the A&W All American Food place...
...

this sanrio store is great! i remember when it was located on the other side in the first section of the outlet stores when it was hidden in a corner. jenn t. is right about the clearance items, but it's always a pleasure going in there whether you purchase something or not. whenever i'm home in norcal, i'll drive to the outlets just for sanrio (ok, and maybe i'll also stop in at bath & body works next door).

one time, we were on our way home, but decided to make a quick stop at the outlets just for sanrio. the happy feeling a kid feels in a candy store is equivalent to how i feel when i'm at a sanrio store. anywho, when we were making our purchases, the sales associate asked my little niecey if she wanted to roll a sanrio die for a prize. first roll = "roll again". second roll = "2nd prize". the girl behind the counter reached for a gift bag and handed it to my niece and mentioned that she gave her the 1st prize bag instead. my niece was happy, but i think i was more excited...
...

AlmondJoy2475 says "attention stylish bargain hunters!" about LA Fashion District - Los Angeles, CA

i love shopping! i love bargains! for the bargain-obsessed, like myself, the fashion district is the best place to shop. they have just about EVERYTHING here...from animals (yes, animals... birds, bunnies, lizards, turtles) to zippo lighters. this place is ALWAYS packed with people...especially on the weekends. i don't like being in crowds, but i actually don't mind having to deal with all those people (the ones who carelessly push their baby strollers / metal carts to haul shopping bags; rude people who don't know how to say "excuse me"; people who walk toward you from the opposite direction and just look at you and expect you to be the one to move aside for them) at least once every couple of months so that i can shop shop shop for all the cutest and latest styles in all types of accessories, shoes, etc....

AlmondJoy2475 says "a cotton pickin' time" about Cotton Paradise - City of Industry, CA

it's true... cotton paradise products are cute (1 star) AND machine washable (2 stars). we were in the store for quite some time because we couldn't decide which one of the many styles (3 stars) of bags we wanted to buy (the doggie character items are my favorite). they have aprons, calendars, cell phone pouches, handbags, laptop bags, messenger bags, purses, slippers, tote bags, travel bags, wallets, wristlets, etc.

the sales person was helpful (4 stars). whenever we asked for other available colors in a certain style, she was quick to check her stock. unfortunately, they didn't carry a variety of colors for a couple of the bags we would have liked to purchase (no star)....
