I highly recommend Star Shoes and the expertise of the owners, Don and Janice Rogers. Don Rogers has been fitting my shoes since 1988. Star Shoes carries many national brands, along with Don's special shoes. Don, who is a Certified Pedorthist, has been creating & developing shoes for people with crippled, deformed, injured, & hard-to-fit feet, and also for diabetics for much of his life. Medicare, actually, pays for the shoes Don makes for diabetics because the construction of his shoes makes it possible for 75% of diabetics to keep form developing ulcers on their feet, which is a major cause of diabetics having to have amputations. Don's shoes are approved under "The Therapeutic Shoe Bill". Having had 17 surgeries on my feet over my 61 years, Don's shoes are a God-send for my feet, legs, & back. I purchased a pair as soon as they became available in 2003. His shoes hold my feet gently yet firmly and give them more and better support than did the orthopedic oxfords I had had to...
...

I have a niece that used to work for Olly Kids Shoes in Hunt Valley Mall and that was how I heard about them. When my niece worked there I never had an issue. I went in about once a month and bought a few pairs of shoes. I guess I never realize how rude the people were because my niece always helped me but once she left the store I found out. I would go in and no one would greet me or ask if I needed help. This happened three times with different clerks so it was not a matter of just someone having a bad day. I would literally walk around the store with a shoe in my hand and no one offered to find a size for me or order it if it was not in stock. If I dared to walk to the register and ask for help , I was looked at like I had two heads. The last time I went in the girl at the register sighed and rolled her eyes when I asked about a shoe in a certain size. Then I had the audacity to asked if they could check at another store or order it. No. She did not even pretend...
...

Periz says "Don't shop there if you expect them to stand by their products." about Walk 'n Shoes Boca Raton FL

The owner Paul Weiner needs anger management classes. I bought ten pairs of shoes from this store in the last three years four of which stained my feet. I had purchased one pair on sale and that was the reason they said they couldn't take it back (brand name - Spring Step in black color). Another pair was (black color, brand name A Plume) also stained my feet. A friend who purchased the same shoe from Walk'n Shoes said she had the same problem. The third pair, brand name Beautifeel in black color stained my hose every time I wore them. A Plume and Beautifeel were comfortable shoes but if you have to throw away the hose (stain doesn't come out even if you wash) or scrub your feet every time you wear them makes it difficult to justify buying these brand names, especially at prices Walk'n Shoes charges (I have seen the exact same shoes at the Flee Market on Sample Street at much cheaper prices). Finally, my fourth pair of staining shoes were the Wolky shoes for which I paid $164 in May...
...

ashb915 says "Running Away Multisport is the best at fitting running shoes" about Running Away Multisport - Chicago, IL

For the past four months I have been talking about how badly I needed to buy new running shoes. I hadn't bought a new pair in over 2 years and was more than due.

My sister had mentioned to me that since I had started to run 5ks I should really go to a place that specialized in running shoes and have them fit me for the perfect shoe. After a a few breaks in the awful Chicago weather I was able to go running again outside and was convinced my old shoes had to go.

I had walked by Running Away Multisport many times so I decided to check it out one day after work. I am so glad I did! The woman who helped me was great and not pushy by any means. She had me first run in a neutral shoe on a treadmill so she could see how my feet hit the ground. She then showed me which shoes she recommended and started by pulling two shoes with the same structure and cushion but were different enough that based on which one I liked she would know how to go forward.

I think I tried on about 8 pairs......

this review is for the outlet located at:

100 Citadel Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90040, (323) 724-7723

i'm a big fan of nine west. this outlet store has a good selection of sandals, shoes, and purses. it's self-serve so don't expect a sales associate to ask if you need help, unless you ask them. i don't mind because i don't like being hawked when i'm browsing. their stock is located in the open shelvings and usually somewhat organized.

i usually always walk out with one pair of cute sandals, but this past visit i walked out with four. i'm on cloud nine after shopping at nine west.
...

I can't ever find shoes that fit and are comfortable. Sunday I found a new to me shoe store in Davenport,Ia.

A clerk met me at the door, took me right to the section of the store were the walking shoes were and helped me find my size. Since they were having a buy 1 get 2nd 1/2 off sale I asked about a pair to black flats with an arch support. Sure enough she took me to that section and they had the best selection I had seen anywhere.

I bought 2 pair of shoes in less then 25 minutes. Wow!!!!
...

buton827 says "Great shoes, but not the best shopping experience" about Lori's Shoes - Hinsdale, IL

Lori's has one of the best shoe selections in Chicago, and the prices are reasonable. The service is a little hit-or-miss. I've had saleswomen forget about me when they run to the back and I've had to wait in line to pay for 20 minutes. But sometimes they surprise me - they opened the doors early for me once when I needed to pick up a pair of shoes before a plane flight. But just a warning - never go there on the weekends. You can hardly walk around, let alone find room to try on a pair of shoes....

I love this place because it reminds me of European shoe stores: small, personable, interesting choices and high quality. Owner Shelley is almost always there and is so personable and friendly. Located in the heart of the Gold Coast, I am glad that tiny, quaint stores like PS Accessories still thrive.

The focus seems to be on high heels and swank models, but there is a full range from which to choose and prices are from the medium to high end. Jewelry, purses, and scarves, among other accessories, round out this shoe store and I highly recommend this boutique for something unique! www.ps-accessories.com
...

Lori's Shoes is located next to Charlie Trotters on Armitage (near Halstead). The store boasts designer shoes at a discount rate. While it is true that the store is cluttered with designer shoes the discount rate is minimal. For example, a pair of Juicy Couture shoes that retails for $98 is sold at Lori's for the discount rate of $92. If you are looking for a real deal on shoes, stick with "Off Broadway" or "DSW."...

Russ says "Athletic shoes from people who know about shoes." about Big Peach Running Co. - Atlanta, GA

I have had good success getting knowledgeable sales people for my dress and casual shoes, but been stuck on a limb when it comes to my athletic shoes.

No more! No more big box stores where all they can do is help you find the box. No more mall stores that cater to people who don't tie their shoes. Now I've got Big Peach Running Company.

First, let's get one thing clear; I don't run for recreation. I do, however, walk a LOT and I like to be comfortable. Until four months ago, buying athletic shoes was a crap-shoot. I'd usually buy what was on sale if it felt OK, and hope it worked out. On a couple of occasions, I followed the advice of an 'authority', but to no avail. At Big Peach Running Co. I found people who new what they were doing and worked to make sure I was happy in my new shoes. We talked about my shoe usage, and then they put me on a treadmill with a video camera to analyze my gait. As it turns out, I over-pronate (my foot rolls to the inside) a little, so they set...
...

My feet hurt. Ok now that I got that complaint over with I’ll get on with Walk ‘n Shoes. I am on a never-ending quest to find the perfect shoe/sandal/sneaker/hiking boot.

Last year I bought a pair of Moran sandals in Walk ‘n Shoes which have been very good. My mom and I went to this store at 7036 Palmetto Park Road in Boca Raton, Florida. They have been in business since 1987.

I tried on many pairs of shoes and sandals. Some I walked around in for quite awhile. We were the only customers there with three men. One is Jack, the owner; another Tony a salesperson who was very interested to hear about my feet and what helped; and another young man who has neuropathy as well.

I virtually begged Jack to sell me shoes that would fix my feet. This is his specialty. He has many customers with Diabetes and Neuropathy and hears my complaint often. We had a really nice chat. He told me that he wishes there were a magic fix or that he could sell me the pair of shoes but he couldn’t....
...
