anb says "You'll never be disappointed at Jody Did It!" about Jody Did It - Marblehead, OH

Jody Did It is a jewelry and home accessories store in Marblehead, OH. Jody, the owner, is an artist with a funky flair. She is always coming up with something fun and different. She scours estate sales and flea markets, finding unusual items and adding her own touch. One time, she found a hanging candleholder in the shape of an anchor. She wire wrapped the entire thing with beads & charms, creating a beautiful, eye-catching piece that we get lots of compliments on. She works in glass - we have a beautiful decorative glass panel and I have a fused dichroic necklace by her. She also paints and comes up with creative combinations of materials and items. She is open most of the year, but sometimes closes in Jan-Feb, so be sure to call before you go. In the off season, she is usually open Fri-Sun. You can be assured that there will always be something you can't live without when you visit Jody Did It!
...

elswithp says "This is definitely worth looking into - again and again!" about Paddington Station - Albion, MI

Paddington Station - This little store next to the Hardware Store in Albion has a great mix of goods. Starting with clothes for men, women and children, to jewelry, - both fashion and "real" - to school supplies, home deco articles and practical items, Paddington Station presents itself as an upscale flea market store.

There are many different styles of decorator items from all over the world, and even the odd antique or two can be found here. According to owner Nancy, everything is for sale, even the furniture.

Booths are for rent at agreeable prices by the day, week or month for those who want to try out having a :"flea market" space themselves. And it is recommended that you come at least once a week to browse since items on display change constantly.

Looking for candles? Perhaps missing a piece of a special pattern of your dinner service? Need a new claspon your necklace repaired? You once saw a special decorator item but did not get it and now you decided you would like to have it...
...

mumphra says "all about the sale no warrenty or customer service help" about Sleepy's - Plymouth, MA

Sleepys is the worst store in the universe.

I bought a 2000 mattress and box-spring set about 6 months ago. It was for a spare room in my house and never really slept on it. Well one day i was laying in it and i noticed a really hard spot at the foot of the bed that went from one side to the other. I mean this had almost no give what so ever. Clearly a factory default. I thought nothing about it and called 1800sleepys figuring that this would be a simple problem that would be corrected.

WAS I EVER WRONG. I talked to the service department and they said that it sounded like a comfort issue and they couldnt do anything about it. At this point i assumed that they just didnt understand what i was saying. So i repeated what i said added a few more details, and the lady on the other side of the phone started to get annoyed with me. She aggressivly told me there was nothing they could do. She said that if the inspector came there and with out touching the set couldnt see anything wrong that...
...

I love shopping at The Great Indoors. Unfortunately I'm usually browsing and saying "oooh, ahhh! That is so cool!" Their prices are too high in my opinion, and I usually end up buying a cheaper version at another store. However, mostly I just go without. In addition, this store is not in my usual shopping area, so it's quite a bit out of my way to go. I only get to go there if I have some other errands to run out in that area. It's such a large store I can understand why they don't have more of them. It's a great place to buy a wedding gift, or shower gift, and especially great to find items to put on my own wish list!

I am attracted to the bright lighting, the spaciousness of the isles (you're not bumping in to other customers), the high vaulted ceilings, and they have superb customer service. It seems there's always an employee close by to help direct you to the right location. And they usually even smile at you! Amazing!

...

Candlelover says "I love Wickit Good!!!!" about WickIt Good Candles - Manasquan, NJ

I think Wickit Good candles are the BEST candles I have ever found. And by my name, you can tell that I am a candle lover!

There is no black walls and no black smoke. The candles are very strongly fragranced and smell just as strong the last inch of wax as they do when you first open the jar. I never have any leftover wax in the jar either. That's how I know I am getting my money's worth.

The store in Point Pleasant is where the candles are made for this location and the one in Chester, NJ. They are handmade in the back of the candle store. The shop itself is REALLY cool! It has alot of gift items besides just the candles. Alot of the stuff in the store is handmade by local artists. I go there for all my gifts. It's like a "one stop shop" at Christmas time!! I have always been helped by the staff. They are very good with the gift ideas. Sometimes I would go in and say, I need a give for $40.00 and within minutes, they have helped me choose the perfect gift for my friend.

My only complaint...
...

Before deciding on Silestone Countertops I went back and forthe between Corian, the new laminate from Lowes(I have forgotten the name of it) and Silestone. I decided to go with silestone because one of Home Depot's selling points was that all of their products have hight customer ratings and they do not put anything in their store that does not have a high rating. I am trying to figure out now where they get their reviews from because their craftmanship and service was awful. First of all it took 2 months to get my countertops installed, the lady handling my order forgot to submit the measurements to Stone Made Products before a specific deadline to have an installation before Thanksgiving of last year. She had my measurements 5 days before the deadline, and sent them in the day after. When they finally came to install them (at 8 o'clock at night mind you, I settled for that because they forgot to come that morning), the installers intentionally cut off the lip to my counterop's......

in the past, i have turned to ikea to purchase some inexpensive accessories and pieces of furniture. it's 5 years later and i still have all the accessories and furniture...all are durable and still intact.

we went to this ikea location to pick up a couple of things (a tv stand and some svepa glasses in particular). ok, so the quality of some of the products aren't the best, but they do have sturdier quality items. you've got to look and choose the right ones. if you see something that you might be interested in purchasing, you might want to check it out thoroughly first (lay on it, lean on it, pick it up, press on it, pull it, push it, sit on it, stand on it). you can't expect to get something like a $17 tv stand to last a few years - unless you're buying it to set your 10" portable dvd player on it, then it might have a chance.

i've never bought anything from ikea's food court before. my past visit, i decided to get an ice cream cone, which i didn't really care for. mind......

We had a huge remodeling job on our hands and were approved for a high credit limit at the Home Deopt so we did all of our shopping there. What a mistake!! There was NO customer service and if someone didi help us the had no idea how to answer our questions. For example, we order the materials for a deck with the help of a "Deck Designer". When the materials arrived shorted us almost a quater of the lumber we needed and no deck spindles!...

I bought all my appliances there and asked for a service contract on each one. It took three hours of indecipherable paperwork to do it all. I was told I would get the rebates and contracts in the mail. They never came. After months of fighting, I found out that I never was provided with the service contract on my refrigerator and I could not buy one now as it was 5 months past the date of purchase for this. A month later, my refrigerator broke down and it cost me $400 to fix.....all because the Home Depot messed up my order!...

When we did a complete remodel on our kitchen, we has Home Depot resurface our cupboards. The representative came to our home and was very helpful, not at all pushy. However, when the contractorsthat Home Depot used came and did the work, one of the guys in particular did VERY sloppy work. We had to keep pointing out things that were crooked, and after looking more closely to the work, we found even more shabby workmanship. The two workers had to come back twice after they had completed the job to fix, and or replace veneer and crown molding. In several places, for instance, the one guy had shot nails completely through the crown molding, then pulled SOME of the nails back out and renailed it. Holes were not fixed, and some of the nails were still sticking out where they could be seen in plain sight. I guess I would not recommend Home Depot resurfacing anyone's kitchen cabinets.
...

On a recent expedition to have carpet installed in my whole house, I compared Lowe's against Home Depot and found out that Lowe's raises it's carpet prices in order to offer lower installation prices and then falsely advertises that it is the lowest price around. Home Depot offered 199.00 installation for the whole house, and the installers did a great job. My measure was done within 48 hours and the install set up for 3 days later. One week was all it took to make my house look like a beautiful new home. I would highly recommend their services!...

When I goto Lowe's I am welcomed buy every emplohyee & the Management. Toded, the Manager even escorts me to departments to assist with getting me what I need but have no idea what it is called or who makes it. Every item he has given me work, does te best, and husband is amazed that I can buy stuff.

Last year my husband bought me a MTD/Troy Built snow blower that is power driven since I cannot push it with my broken neck, and the first time I use it it blows its engine. Obvious not a new unit sold to us for $600 at Brooklyn Tractor in Cleveland OH. So we phone them to come & get it, we are told they no longer sell MTD & Troy Built is their product. I TOLD THEM THEY HAVE MY MONEY FOR CRAP. They said sorry, but not theiir problem. So I got the Attorney General of State of Ohio to get our money back. SO now we are shopping for a new one. I have seen plenty of reviews for Toro & Ariens.

Lowes is #1 stop but guess what, they have MTD & Troy Built, NO WAY! So over to Home...
...

I hear the same thing every time I walk into our Home Depot "Hello Did you find what you were looking for" So many in fact it gets to be repetitive sometimes. It is refreshing as opposed to their biggest competitor though, you know the big "L".

The Service

Sometimes when I need help their is no one in the department I am in, but a short walk to a main isle always brings an able bodied person. If they are not from that department or not familiar with the product they call someone to help me. Most times the wait is very short and if not the person tries to help anyway. I appreciate that as I go there for a lot of projects I do around the house.

I have had them go out of their way to help me at times as well. Once I was looking for fence boards and one guy stayed with me the whole time helping me with my measurements and counting the boards as I went along. He even reminded me about screws and showed me the selection and helped me pick the right screw for my project.

When I was ready......
