Evilcookie says "Nice clothes but too pricey." about abercrombie and fitch - Augusta, GA

Recently, I've went shopping a lot and I decided to look around in some of the stores I usually never go to. Abercrombie and Fitch was one of them. I liked the clothes, but I think the "A&F" and "1892" were way overrated. Also, considering the mediocre quality of their clothing, their prices are higher than need be. I knew beforehand that this store is one of the current "top" teen clothing stores, so I presume that this is the reason for their high prices. Sometimes the effects of supply and demand are quite astounding. I liked the A&F sweatshirts though, and bought one. So soft....

TheresaS says "Not Impressed Any More" about Costco - Chicago, IL

Costco has seen better days when it comes to providing value to its members. They tried all sort gimmicks over the last few years to try to hide the fact that they are generally the most expensive and inconvenient of the warehouse chains. They seem to be competing against retail chains, eventhough they are charging a memebership to shop there. If the items-often in short supply-where only available there and quality was special, then that could be taken into consideration. That certainaly is not th case. Yes, Kirkland is only available there since its their brand, but my experience has been its hit or miss with it. For the most part, everything besides food stuffs can be found cheaper of equal or greater quality. Food items can be bought at lesser prices at times, but with supermarket chains promoting loss leaders, you may as well be throwing money away.
The customer service is average and their return policy is no longer as good as its main competitor. Expect more often than not, a...

In a 2 year gut rehab project that tried my patience, budget and relationship, I can say that Grand Appliance & TV is the ONLY vendor I can wholeheartedly recommend now that the whole process is fully over and done. — — We bought our major appliances a few months into the project, and spent a ton of initial time researching online, and then spent countless hours at Abt, and even shopped at Direct Buy (we were members) but weren't overwhelmed with any of the options. And then a friend recommended Michael at Grand. — — I can't tell you how nice it was to work with someone who KNOWS THEIR PRODUCTS, who can answer all of those little questions that are specific to your project, to interact with the same person every time you came back, and generally work with someone who is nice, personable, and actually remembers you and your situation when you return. — — That alone is very worthwhile to me, but even better, we got better pricing than...

Aldi's is a wonderful grocery store. It is clean, cheap and now has a much greater variety of things to chose from. The one and only complaint I have is that they do not provide electric wheel chairs for the disabled, like other stores in the area do.
OldHippie says "Living Off Their Past Reputation" about South Side Cyclery - Saint Louis, MO

South Side Cyclery is probably the oldest bike shop in St. Louis, started about 1933. They expanded & moved, and expanded again & moved again. In fact, they now have two locations. One at 6925 Gravois and another at 9985 Lin Ferry in South St. Louis County. The Lin Ferry location is the only location to still carry Schwinn bicycles. And they don't stock very many. (Two on the showroom floor at last visit.) I believe their #1 seller to be Trek bikes. And they are HIGH PRICED. Other brands include GT, Giant, Lightspeed and Haro. What gets under my skin is the attitude found here. It's like they're saying, "We're St. Louis' Number One Bike Store...always have been, always will be." In other words...stuck up. The sales help I got when looking for a quality bike wasn't as knowledgeable or forthcoming as expected. In contrast, Ed at Big Shark (see separate review) gladly pointed out...

Although many in St. Louis and Kansas City, MO. would like to disagree...they can't. It's a proven fact that Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO. is Missouri's #1 tourist attraction. The phenomenon started years ago, when John L. Morris asked his father if he could set up an eight-foot display in his liquor store. Since then, the commitment has stayed the same; to sell quality fishing, camping and hunting equipment at a fair price. — So you don't fish, hunt or go camping? Think you'll be bored? Think again. My "EX" wife thought the same way. I COULDN'T DRAG HER OUT OF THE STORE! We were there for hours. She found women's clothes, kid's clothes, shoes, etc. She and my son thought the wildlife exhibits were great. "We're going camping next year." she said, half stating, half asking or pleading. I remember at least one restaurant (full service) and a McDonald's inside. — Across the street is...

We recently purchased a new home and decided to replace all of the appliances - washer and dryer, microwave, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. — After getting quotes from several retailers, we selected HH Gregg, primarily based on pricing, and their delivery and installation service. — We paid for delivery and installation, and on the much-anticipated day of arrival, the delivery team arrived, and did not have our stove on the truck, and told us it was on back order and would arrive in 10 days, had the incorrect dryer and then refused to install the appliances. — We called the service center and they sent out another team who arrived, with the correct dryer, and installed some of the appliances, and then claimed that they could not install the washer and dryer because the venting was incorrect. — We called the store again, and this time they sent out another crew, who at least explained that there was actually an issue with our...

jmdobies says "Fresh, Hot, Delicious Cookies Delivered to Your Door - Genius!" about Tiff's Treats - Austin, TX

Tiff's Treats was started in 1999 by a couple of University of Texas students, who came up with the brilliant idea of a cookie delivery service. With a built-in audience at UT, they provided an alternative to the same old pizza, catering to both the students who needed something to dunk in their coffee as they studied, and the stoners who praised Jah that they'd finally found a cure for their munchies. — Originally, the students ran the business in the evening while attending classes during the day. Tiff's Treats went full time in June 2001 to serve office workers and Austin residents, as well the aforementioned core clientele. — Tiff's delivers to the downtown Austin area, from 1st to 29th between I-35 & MOPAC and from 29th to 51st between I-35 & Lamar. If you live outside of the delivery area, like me, simply call ahead, and your cookies will be baked to order and ready for pick-up in about an hour's time. — It's a genius concept, and one...

With two kids, we knew we needed a way to cut down spending hundreds a month for both kids and ourselves. With milk at over $4.00/gallon and Formula at over $25 for a 20-oz container, we were told that Costco was the way to go. — First impressions are everything. When we were there to sign up, employees were just plain rude. We didn't know where we were going, so when we went through the Member's-Only entrance, we didn't expect to be threatened with a call to the police! — We chose the lesser $50 decision. We could fit that into our budget. — Now, I should explain the store a bit. Everything is in bulk, which can be good or bad.
