A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided that we couldn't wait much longer to have our wooden French Doors leading out to the deck in our backyard replaced. Time and the elements had taken its toll and we had quite a leak when it rained due to the rotting wood at the bottom of the door. We pretty much had an idea of what we wanted to replace the door with but didn't really know where to go to get it. We narrowed it down to either Lowes or The Home Depot.

Lowes is fairly new in our area so we thought we would give it a try first. We headed to the back of the store where the doors and windows were located. And browsed the items that were similar to what we had in mind. We were not approached by a salesperson but we did see someone sitting at the desk in that department. It happened so suddenly. One day the garage door worked, and the next day it wouldn't open at all. At first, we thought that the door had simply gotten knocked off of its track, but after closer examination we knew we would need a professional to identify and fix the problem. My husband called several companies and quickly settled on Innovative Garage Door because of their competitive pricing and quick availability.

The serviceman arrived promptly at 10:00 a.m on a Tuesday. although I wasn't expecting him until 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Somehow, there was a mix-up in the appointment date, but no matter. I was home, he was ready to work, and we had a garage door that needed fixing. The repair man was professional and courteous. As soon as I opened the door to the garage he could see what the problem was. We had a busted spring.

Tarrytown Woodworks is an old fashioned craft shop. The owner specializes in authentic, meticulous restoration of fine antiques. Nice guy. Prices are much lower than in the city. I did his website for him and just loved going to his shop. His work really is beautiful.

only recently we've been experiencing problems with our door. we searched online and found douglas door repair co. in the yellow pages. the guys came in and took a look. right away travis knew what the problem was, it was a hydrolic issue. the hydrolic fluid was leaking, and so they fixed it right on the spot. they provided great service for our door repair needs. thanks guys! you win the door prize.

I called W L Payne roofing for a small leak over our living room. He called back immediately and schedule to come by the following day. When he arrived he came prepared with an estimate and ready to do the job. While his helper working on the repair he pointed out a few other areas that may need some touching up and worked on that as well while he was there. He pointed ot other areas around the house and yard that he could help us with and gave reasonable estimates as well....

My Bissell Steam Cleaner hose to the upholstery cleaning attachment on the hose to the unit. It is to spray a mist and then suck up the wetness & dirt. I did my kitchen floor & use the attachment to do the basement stairs. Each stair was flooded & the attachment was not sucking up any of the liquid, just pushing down to then next stair.

So phoned Bissell to inquire & the hose passed the test of holes in it by me [putting the attachment to my cheek & no suction. Then I mention that the suction from carpet shampooer is filled with carpet fuzz & dirt. She stated t sounds like the diverter was bad & I should take it to Parma Vacuum, for warranty repair. So I did. 1 hour later they phoned that it is fixed. AMAZING for free repair!

So I took my sewing machine that my late brother bought me when I was 16 making clothes for famous rockers & me. He told me this was a professional model that does writing & etching in thread. I had all the attachments for it too. I stated...

I had an antique base rocker repaired by Guy's; the chair was my grandfather's and he gave it to me some years before he died. The bottom had fallen out after 60-plus years of use, and I took it to Guy's to be repaired and possibly reupholtered. Their decorating consultant worked with me to select the best way to proceed, and quoted me a fair price. The turnaround was a couple of weeks. They offered to repair, reupholster, and refinish, or any combination of the three; we elected to get it simply repaired for now and put off the reupholstering for later. They were able to do this and save the original fabric, which was pleasing. The only (minor) complaint I have is that they were a few days getting back to me with a quote, and they initially didn't quote me a la carte pricing for the three services as I asked. But these are quibbles; we'll be taking the chair back to get it reupholstered soon....

I use to have a good opinion of Time Warner cable actually use to telemarket for this company and when I did so they appeared to be reputable. Although after my dealings with this company over the past couple of years I have no good opinion of them. There are to many places to start the customer service is at the least rude and disrespective at the worst they do not honor special prices and packages offered. This has happened to me each and every time I have taken one of there specials over the past three years. Every time I take a special I clarify more than once the terms of each deal and they either have untraineed staff or flatly do not honor what they offer. When you call them to confront the price difference the rudeness is astounding to say the least. They claim such a savings in their packages above all the rest but if you split the package apart you are actually spending anywhere from 20-50 above the others. Another big problem I would have is each and every moth after......

My husband called Masterguard because we wanted an awning built over our deck. We should have never used this company after the first thing they did. We received a quote to build the awning over the deck and trelice over our patio at $5000. 3 weeks later a few days before the contract date to be finished the owner of the company came out and said that quote was way off. He got down to $12000 just for the awning. We really wanted this done so went with it. The contract date to be completed was still 4 days away. They never obtained a permit so 2 days into the job they had to walk away when the city inspector showed up. A few weeks later we finally had a completed awning. A couple days after that it rained-The awning leaks really bad. I called and called and they broke appointments to come out and I finally got the repairmans personal cell number. He came out that day and set an appointment for 2 weeks later to fix the problem. They came out and when they finished...

I currently live in FL and am going to be moving to the Atlanta, GA area very soon.

We are looking at a home in Buford, GA, but know that it needs a new roof and new siding installed. After calling a lot of contracters, siding companies, and roofers, I found Russell's Advantage Home Remodeling on yellowpages.com.

Russell called me back the same day that I left a message for him. He gave me a free estimate on a new roof and new siding, and went out of his way to tell me the pros and cons of not only the materials he would be using, but the house we were considering. (My husband has seen it but I haven't.) Russell spent almost 20 minutes with me on the phone, showing me that he really valued me as a customer.

I currently live in Florida, but am preparing to move near Atlanta, GA.

I found this company on yellowpages.com and they looked good on their website. I've called the office for a week asking if someone could please give me an estimate on roofing and siding. I've been told that the guy has gone out and inspected the house, but no one will call, email, or fax me any information about how much it will cost to fix up the house.

If you want a company that values it's customers, don't use A1 Construction.

I can't say enough about SW Roofing and Construction. They have done several jobs for us, and I won't hesitate to have them come out for more.

The first job consisted of them *repairing* work done by another contractor; their price was more than fair for that job, and they completed it in one day.

The second two jobs consisted of barn roofs--SW brought out a team of 15-20 men and had an entire barn done in one day. Considering the barn roof is about 35,000 sq ft, that's quite an accomplishment! The second barn was also done quickly and efficiently.

I received a letter from them in the mail the other day stating that they have expanded their business to include siding, windows, and other exterior work. I smiled as soon as I read that, knowing I will be calling them for more work as we live in a 102 year old home that hasn't been remodeled exteriorly since 1940 and before.

The owner, Ralph, is delightful. He takes the time to talk with me each time he comes out, so I fully understand...

We recently added storm doors to our house. We used Doors Are Us because he was recommended by a friend. I am so glad we used him. He came to the house told us exactly what we needed and why. He knew his business. He was able to explain why we needed the doors he suggested, what the benefits were and why other types would not work. We ordered the storm doors and less than 2 weeks later he had them installed. We thought they were great but he wasn't happy with a few things and came out a few weeks later to tweak them until he was happy. He did a super job. I am writing to inform everyone of the very poor customer service that I have received from the Dwyer Concrete Lifting company. I contacted the company in mid-May to get information and pricing on having the concrete for my driveway and sidewalk lifted. A salesman very promptly came to give me a price quote on the 18th of May. I thought about it and decided to go ahead and have the work done. On Monday, the 21st of May, I faxed the signed contract into the office. The following week I received a post card in the mail from the company saying my fax was received and someone would be calling me soon to schedule a time for the work to be done. Well, I never heard from anyone so, on the 10th of July I called to see when the work would be done. I was scheduled for the 20th of July. On the 20th of July I took the day off work. The workers showed up as scheduled but informed me they could not do the work that day because I needed more lifted than the salesman had contracted. ...

My fiance and I had to transfer the phone/internet/satellite services into my name. Unbeknownst to us, this entails a complete deactivation of all services and access to internet. For approximately three weeks, we had no internet; which is detrimental to the work I do, since its primarily done via internet/email. Each week, ATT/SBC yahoo promised our orders would be completed from hours to a few days later. To which, each time the said time was upon us, none of our service was reinstated. In this age of technology, how difficicult is it to 'backspace" one's name and add another? Apparently, they have to deactivate everything, and then reactivate it thus resulting in a simple removal of his name. It has been almost a month, and we are still having internet connection problems, and when we call them, are on the phone for hours at a time. We have spent literally days on the phone with these people. When asked what will be done for us, the consumer who are paying for services for which......

Elizabeth Taylor Fence Company (funny name, huh?) installed a 270 ft board on board wooden fence in my backyard. It took a little over a week for the actual installation and they have two very responsible guys build the fence onsite.

Overall excellent service, beautiful work. This is a company with integrity that delivers what they promise. Very professional (both office staff and fence installation team).

I am very happy with my new fence and I highly recommended them.

My air conditioning wasn't working, and the company I had a service contract with told me I would need a new heat pump (at a price of $8,000 - 10,000!). I called Aero to get a quote on a new heat pump, and when Dennis Barton came out to give me an estimate, he took the time to look at the old heat pump that was malfunctioning. In the space of ten minutes, he diagnosed and repaired the problem, and my air conditioning has been working great ever since. He took time to explain the problem to me, suggest things I can do to prolong the life of the heat pump, and educate me about my options for a new heat pump. I was very impressed by his knowledge and skill, and also his honesty. Needless to say, I'm dumping the old company and giving all my future business to Aero....
