LoveisJoy says "Rush Copley Hospital: Committed to Care and Comfort" about Rush Copley Medical Center - Aurora, IL

When you are a member of an HMO and you need medical care that requires a hospital stay, your options are going to be limited to the facilities and physicians who are in your network. Even though I wasn't given any real choice as to where my surgery would take place, I was pleased with the care and attention that I received at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois.
Scheduling surgery was a very straightforward process (once I was able to get my physician's office to complete the necessary paperwork) and everything was explained to me thoroughly and courteously. When I arrived for surgery, the nursing staff was efficient and helpful, and took great pains to make sure that I was comfortable. I was switched from a tiny room with just a recliner in it, to a room with more space and a bed to complete the pre-surgery process.

I was always kept apprised of how the surgical process would unfold, and questions were encouraged and answered fully and honestly. The nurses were especially...
...

khouser55 says "Small hospital with attentive staff and good nurses." about Holy Family Hospital Maternity - Spokane, WA

I had my first baby at Holy Family and plan to have the next one (coming soon) there as well. Many of my family members have also had children at this maternity ward. Holy Family is a smaller hospital compared to Deaconess and Sacred Heart downtown. It maybe only have 10-15 birthing rooms. Which is why I like it, because it feels more intimate and less like a hospital. The nursing station is never far away. When I went to visit a friend at one of the big ones downtown I wandered forever trying to find the maternity ward, and then the nursing station, and her room was really far away.

Holy Family maternity nurses are very considerate and helpful. They can be forceful if needed (herding family out of the room, etc) but mostly they are attentive and try to fulfill your wishes. It being my first baby, I had lots of questions and they were always willing to answer each one as detailed as I needed.

I happened to be there on a day when there weren't a lot of births happening,...
...

The following is my opinion based on the care I have had and have personally seen.

I have been a patient at Frederick Memorial Hospital. My first child was born here. I have had to take relatives here at least a dozen times. It is by far the WORST hospital I have been in ANYWHERE!

The ER is NOT staffed by the hospital, but by another group. I have NEVER been there when they have enough staff on duty. They will not call more staff unless they are behind at least two hours - FOR THE EMERGENCY ROOM! If you go to the ER, expect to be there for AT LEAST 8 hours. If you are going to be admitted, 12-14 before you will be in your room. If you arrive by ambulance, that only means you will be on a gurney in the hall waiting rather than in the waiting room.

Parking. What's that? If I wanted to open up a 2,500 square foot shop across the street, I would be required by law to have more shopping than what they have.

Construction. It is ALWAYS under construction, but nothing is improving...
...

This hospital has been here many years many names..but I still use it. It is within walking distance of my house. The doctors there seem to care more for the patients. There is always time for one on one with your doctor. They dont care if you are rich or poor they seem to cater to the not so rich in this town. If they cant help you they refer you to a specialist that will also cater to you, More people should think about this small hospital and clinic when in need of a doctor....

jadess916 says "Definately one of the worst hospitals in Oakland, CA" about Highland Hospital - Oakland, CA

This hospital is filled to the gills with low income families, people on the states medi cal program, people with no insurance and the regular everyday joe. There's nothing wrong with that except this increases waiting periods to an unacceptable time.

Even for those with appointments, you still have to wait. I had an ultrasound appointment at 11am and was told to come in with a full bladder and then I'd be hurried through the process ofthe waiting room. Well I arrived at 10:40am, and they were right I got the rush treatment, I was rushed from the counter where there was a line to a set in the waiting room. Yeah, from there I waited for over an hour and a half, when I told the receptionist that I was suppose to get in an see a tech immediately, she said all she could do was have me wait since there were other people in front of me. Eventually I had to use the bathroom 3 times before I was seen by a tech. It was 3:30pm by the time I left. This happened each of the 3 times I had an appointment...
...

A woman wearing scrubs pointed a loaded gun at my head on the 3rd floor of Charleston General and forced me to beg and pray for my life in front of witnesses. The hospital did not believe me when I reported the crime, and did not inform my grandmother's medical team until weeks later. Fortunately I text messaged a US Secret Service Agent on L ST NW in The District of Columbia because I had his phone number in my cell and had spoken with him earlier in the week about the process for obtaining a press pass. The hospital made every effort to cover up the attempt on my life.

I was visiting my 97yoa grandmother at CAMC Charleston General Hospital in Oct 07and spent the night in her semi private room. The next morning I walked into the hall on the 3rd floor and had a gun pointed at my face and placed on the skin of my cheek by a woman in scrubs. She forced me to beg and pray for my life at one point turning the gun on a RN in the hall. Eventually she was disarmed, taken to a small room...
...

My wife went to the emerency department with chest pains and a migrane. She was quickly fast tracked due to having chest pains. She went in the back only to wait 3 hours to see a doctor. The doctor performed an EKG, and some other tests only to wait another 4 hours to tell my wife the results. If this is the fast track, I would hate to be on the slow track. I finally had to track down the nurse who only saw my wife 3 times in that 7 hours to find out what was going on and she finally called the doctor to get him to come down. The doctor finally said it was nothing and that it was just stress. The next week we went to another hospital and found out that she had a severe sinus infection. Mabye if the doctor actually examined my wife or looked at the test results he would have discovered this! I would never let anyone I know go to this hospital again. I cannot beleive this is a magnet hospital. ...

I came to the ER during an asthma attack and had to wait in the waiting room an HOUR before before they would even let me back into the ER. By this point, my husband and I were so distraught we told them we're leaving and driving the 1/2 hour to Lake Forrest hospital (which is a wonderful hospital). I find that totally unacceptable and even criminal considering my dire situation.
...

Wow! I have been to other hospitals in the area so I have a great reference point. This hospital is organized and run like a well oiled machine! We hadn't even reached the point of waiting in line and someone was telling us they could help us and called us over. Every single person knew what their job was and did it well. We were on the short stay unit and every patient was assigned 2 nurses plus a floater nurse. Each patient has a tracking device on their IV unit so at any given point and time you can find out where they are. (especially comforting when they stay in recovery longer than expected). I do not believe if given a choice I would go to any other hospital in the Portland Metropolitan area. Outstanding job!! *Just to let you know-this hospital is HUGE....

My oldest daughter was treated at this hospital, several time. This last time she just has open brain surgery. They had to go through her skull. The doctoros are wonderful here, Dr. Thompson is wonderful. He is a man of true wisdom and very thoughfull and understanding. The after care is pretty great too. Though you do need to be aware of whats going and ask questions because these doctors and nurses are overwhelmed with other patients.

The first time my daughter stayed here they overlooked something and it turned out to be real bad, but they fixed it, quickley...Having someone with you is best, someone that can speak for you. Sometimes you have to help the people who are helping you. But it is still a great hospital. Its almost as if they work at a different level, a different standard. Right down to the people who clean the place...This is just my opinion of this one hospital. It really is a great place.

Thanks for reading...
...

This will be a negative review of this hospital. Not only do you wait for hours to be seen by a doctor when they finally do see you they are rude and dismissive. I spent over 12 hours in the er only to be told that nothing was wrong with me. Since I still felt ill I then went to another hospital in Abilene TX where they quickly diagnosed my inflamed appendix.
I've been getting the run around from them for months on what might be cancer. I have to wait days and days to get test results. It was 10 days to get a cat scan result and the doctor was looking at it for the first time as we were sitting in the office. He didn't know what I was even being seen for. What test? What body part? Which side? They didn't send test orders from one dapartment to the other. I had to tell them where to Ultra sound because they couldn't find the order. I had to tell them where to run the cat scan because they never got the order for that either. Test results don't make it over to the doctor in a timely mannor. the MRI had to be located before the doctor in another office could give me the results....

Once my doctor called Orthopedic Associates they got me in the next morning. When I went in the receptionist was very polite and explained everything I needed to do.Once I got in the wait wasn't good on that one occasion but every other time I have gone I have gotten right in.The Hand Specialist I got was great with my hand and did surgery the same day.Which was great b/c I was already freaking out that I had to have surgery so it was good they did it the same day so I couldn't back out.I am a chicken and the nurses that preped me for surgery were so great.I have to give those ladies the most credit b/c I was so scared and they talked to me and made me feel so much better so when I finally had surgery I wasn't so upset anymore.I have to say it was VERY clean there and as a place I was having surgery at that was important. They also called me at home to check on me and make sure I was doing ok.The only......
