SheCat2008 says "The pictures were very "Twlight" for my teen." about Sears Potrait Studio - - McHenry, IL

The photographer listened to my teen and I, then asssited my daughter in picking backgrounds that expressed her personality. The photograhper took the time get to know her a bit to bring out the best in the pictures, unlike most who just do a general run through of assigned poses. She choose poses that worked with the backgrounds and my child's style. My daughter is very into the vampire scence and Twlight, I was afraid of the images being Halloweenie but the results were perfect for both my daughter and my tastes. I not only would use them again but would recommend them to all....

Nahiku says "STILL waiting for our 2007 photo package (quality 4/10)." about Leo Pilak Photography - - Milwaukee, WI

Leo Pilak photographed our wedding over a year ago. After giving him plenty of time to complete other wedding photo packages, we submitted our 100 pictures for the album (plus a few other preferences included in our package - that we later had to remind him of). He said that we would have the album (plus all the other items we purchased in the package) within a reasonable amount of time (a couple of months, according to Leo). We are still waiting. In fact, he said he isn't even sure that he started putting our album together. Bottom line: If you don't care too much about the quality of your wedding photos AND you don't mind waiting, waiting, waiting, then you are ok with selecting Leo Pilak. If you want the style of wedding photos that you ask for and you want them in a truly reasonable amount of time, then select another photographer. Our attorney has been contacted about this situation. CCAP - several other law suits.
...

Leo Pilak Photography. don't do it!

We wish we had found these reviews before we hired him!

Had a horrible experience with him after we hired him to do our wedding. I don't even know where to begin. I SUGGEST THAT EVERYONE LOOK HIM UP ON THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND ALSO LOOK AT HIS COURT RECORDS ON CCAP before deciding to give him your money. He has a track record.

Good luck getting any straight answers out of him. His contract is awfully long and leaves out any important details such as the cost of prints, etc... He does not even let you look at the contract on your own. You can look at it in his 'studio' but not take it with you or decide later. Very high pressure tactics as someone else mentioned. He also uses flashy sales pages during his sales meeting but later you will find out that his contract supercedes any sales pages. (also, his business address is a P.O. Box.)

He is very condescending. If you contact him at all after he has your money be prepared...
...

I found Leo Pilak Photography at a wedding show in Milwaukee. Very impressed with his photos, I convinced my fiance (now my husband) that we had to have Leo even though his price was pretty steep. We too got the free engagement photos and really when I look back, they were nothing to be excited about. Half the picture our eyes where closed and there is a significant height difference between the two of us that just plan looked goofy. But I was excited for the wedding and really thrilled about his other photos that I still didn't care.

On the wedding day itself, Leo showed up late. There were about 5 pictures taken of us before the ceremony, if even that. After the ceremony was over we were all set to meet Leo at another location. He was an hour late and left my wedding party a little frustrated not to mention that we were on a time crunch. He didn't even have his cell phone on so we couldn't contact him. Even more aggravating!

At the reception, he didn't take any pictures of the people...
...

My husband and I were married at the Monterey Peninsula Country Club only two months ago and we were really lucky to have had Amie and her assistant shoot our wedding. To be honest, I was a little suspect at first since they were not on the MPCC's "preferred vendor" list. However, this worry turned out to not be an issue even in the slightest.

In fact, realizing it's somewhat strange to admit this, but our photos both on our wedding day as well as the day before were really quite fun. Both my husband and I really did have a blast working with with Amie. I'm painfully shy (and my husband is actually worse) but somehow they really were able to get both of us to come out of our shell.

Regardless, we had a blast and our photographs are awesome!
...

My sister used the services of Fallon Photos for her wedding in 2007. She chose them because the quality of their work was the best she found and thought even though they were expensive they were worth the quality they provided in photos and video. my sister had to continuously make follow up calls to Fallon Photos because they did not meet the time frame in providing the proofs nor the wedding video. when my sister received the video she was disappointed because Fallon videos played music over the shot of my sister reading a letter from the groom and then played no music where there was silence and nothing of great significance occurring. As of today, 10 months later, she still has not received her wedding album. Fallon Photos has good intentions, but are a husband wife team that cannot keep up with what they've taken on. Its almost greedy....

I couldn't believe how smooth, easy and comfortable my photo session for my twins went. We had 45 minutes and finished in 30 minutes. Normally, I am trying to do so many things to get them to smile or fix their hair or whatever and I am sweating more then if I were outside on a hot 99 degree day. But Lara caught their natural beauty. It was very relaxing and easy! I can't say enough about how well the session went that I couldn't believe we were finished. The ordering session also was awesome because I got to see the pictures on an LCD screen.

I have gone to this Sears portrait studio since my first child was born over 8 years ago. I keep going, so it must be tolerable. : ) Over the years they have changed policies a few times, and changed photographs many more times. The "photographers" don't seem to have any experience, and are sometimes even rude. And lately, they don't seem to know what's going on with all the coupons and deals and packages available. It's never consistent. And they always pressure you to spend a lot of money. I understand it's their job, but it gets really old. After me insisting on them not trying things that I KNOW I don't like (busy backgrounds, tilted poses), they usually get some great shots, and I often have difficulty choosing. After the session you have to wait quite a long time while the photographer spends time on the computer setting up the photos for you to view--adding embellsihments, etc. to encourage you to spend lots of money. This annoys me because I just want the plain......

My husband and I had our wedding photos taken by Leo 5 yrs. ago before digital became popular. He is truly a wonderful photographer to be able to capture the pictures he did without a digital camera. We had so many beautiful shots to choose from we ended up buying all the proofs and negatives! He is a little avant garde and so is his location, however he is an artist. If you are looking for wedding photos that are truly unique and don't look like the same old boring posed pictures he is the perfect person to have. He was also very friendly, prompt and our pictures were ready very soon. Not only that, but we had expressed interest in black and white and sepia prints and he took the time to have all the proofs printed up in black & white and sepia so we could truly see what they looked like. Remember this was before digital so he had to have them all printed. I would recommend him to anyone. I can't even tell you how many people comment that our photos look like they should be in a magazine....
...

For anyone like me who is unfamiliar with the Monterey Bay area and planning to have a destination wedding there, finding a local photographer who actually knew the geography (as opposed to the San Francisco based photographers of similar caliber who are simply ignorant of the local in's-and-out's) was the best thing that could have ever happened.

Trust me, when you Google around looking for local Carmel or Monterey based photographers you'll notice one glaring problem: not only does their work simply reek of tacky style and a business model based in the stone age,......

The pictures on display at the studio seems to be quite impressive but trust me with a digi cam anyone can take pictures better than the ones taken in the studios.
We purchased a package from Mr. Pilak for a wedding in Aug. of 06. We finally got our album, after numerous emails and threatening letters, in Oct. of 07, yes, I said 07. We paid in June of 06 all that was due and should have received our pictures sooner. After losts of coercing we got a really nice album. He tok very mediocre pictures...maybe trying to be artsy but all they were is fartsy. We did not see our proofs for almost 3 weeks after the wedding. He did not even ever get all of them up and the photo lab he was using dropped him, maybe he has someone better now. Take your chance if you are daring....

My fiance and I won a free engagement session with Leo Pilak, complete with $300 worth of free photos. In summary, after seeing the proofs we didn't even bother asking how to collect the prints.

When we arrived we had to call the studio to verify we were in the correct location. It's an old wearhouse, and the only visible hint of a photography studio is a small sign that cannot be read from inside a vehicle. Once inside, there is a lone picture at the top of a stairway along with a handwritten sign pointing toward the left.

Upstairs and out of sight from the door there is an entryway lined with gothic style photographs of ladies in formalwear, along with a display of old cameras. We rang the doorbell, waited for a while (wondering if we were about to die) and were let into the studio.

Inside was actually pretty nice, and we started to relax. Leo Pilak set us up in front of a backdrop and started taking pictures. He got around 30 pictures taken in a very short amount of time, then proceeded...
...

I recently hired the Romano's of All Star Imaging to photograph my wedding. I can not say enough about how wonderful they were. They were totally professional and knew all the questions to ask in advance so that they helped make our day perfect! Not only, were they completely prepared to deal with everything that came up but they were an absolute pleasure to have around. They are truly wonderful people! Their fees were also quite fair. If I could give them 10 stars I would have!...

I know that, because I remember who I write the checks to every year. They've always done well with my kids' portraits, and I was never unhappy. This year they added a little something to their service to make it even more attractive.

The Old Service
I don't know if the basic business of getting your picture taken at school has changed at all over the years. It seems to be the same as it was thirty, thirty-five years ago when I was getting my school portrait done. Believe it or not, they still hand out the same black combs. The same thing they did to me, bothers me about what they do to my daughter. They never seemed to like the way I did my hair, and would always try to "fix it," pushing it all behind my back. They now do the same thing to my daughter, which kills......
