swimmachic says "The Georgia Aquarium is simply amazing!" about Georgia Aquarium - Atlanta, GA

My husband and I have been to the Georgia Aquarium twice so far, and it is just amazing. From the natural flow of the aquarium, making it easy to navigate to the beauty of each of the displays it is someplace that you want to return to over and over again. Although it can be quite a haul for us, they offer coupons at certain times to make the trip more affordable, not to mention the prices of the year pass arent all that expensive. My 19 month old son was amazed by the displays, lights, colors and activities...and I know he will only become more and more interested in those things the older he gets. It is a fantastic family oriented destination, and it is a great place to take guests that you may have visiting the Atlanta area. Definitly a MUST SEE for everyone and...

The South Austin Museum of Popular Culture was founded in 2004 to celebrate Austin's contributions to pop culture from the '60s to the present. Among the permanent exhibits are an eye-popping collection of concert posters, many from the legendary Austin venues the Armadillo World Headquarters and the Vulcan Gas Comapny, and Ken Featherston's 1974 mural "Peyote Dreams". — The funky little space is just one of the many cultural institutions that help to "Keep Austin Weird." In addtion to the permanent collection on display, there are special exhibitions from Austin artists of all types, ranging from painting to photography to underground comics. — The museum is a nostalgia trip for longtime Austinites, and a feast for the eyes to newbies and out-of-towners eager to soak up the vibe. — If the museum is closed, you can always view the SAMOPC Memorial Wall located next to the driveway, which honors fallen heroes of Texas music and culture, including Janis...

It was my 19 yr olds birthday and I wanted to do something different. The kids suggested bowling. I have one of the Entertainment books and saw Bedroxx Bowling center. There were coupons for half off 4 games of bowling. It looked like there was a lot to do there other then just the bowling too so we could make a whole afternoon of it at one place. So we decided to go there. We had a really good time. — For a Saturday, it was not that busy. We got a lane to ourselves. If you want bumper bowling, you can get it. IN fact, you can set it so the bumpers come up for certain members and not for other members. I have never seen that before. A family near us had the bumpers come up for their 5 yr old and no bumpers for the rest who were more experienced bowlers. The place was very clean. Employees were continually coming by and taking away trash and such. The employees were very friendly. My 12 yr...

jmdobies says "Austin's Original Karaoke Bar Is a Great Place for a Good Time" about The Common Interest - Austin, TX

The Common Interest, located in the Spectrum Shopping Center on Burnet Road three blocks south of Highway 183, is Austin's original karaoke bar. Originally opened in 1974, the bar added karaoke to the mix 20 years later and the place been hoppin' ever since. — When the club won a "Best of Austin" award in 2005, The Austin Chronicle wrote, "Much to the chagrin of music snobs everywhere, the so-called 'fad' that washed upon these shores more than a decade ago is still singing its heart out (if a bit off key). A phenomenon once exclusive to Japan, karaoke is now part of the American office party underbelly with mainstream counterparts in the forms of clubs and special bar nights. Way back in the day, Common Interest said nay to the naysayers and has been going strong, offering the very best of the 'empty orchestra' to regulars and the newbies alike. Long may the parrot croon!" — Unlike Austin Karaoke, which offers classic Japanese-style karaoke with private rooms and cheesy,...

Although I moved away from NE Florida during week one of the 2007 NFL season, I am still a diehard Jacksonville Jaguars fan. I don't get to see them play on TV as much as I'd like, but it's not like I've transferred my allegiance to the Texans. — The Jaguars fit the profile of many of my favorite teams in various pro sports, in that they are a small market franchise. The smallest market in the league, in fact. So the Jags are a bit like my beloved Montreal Expos, except for the fact that they are still in existence. — In the last days of my Florida residency, coach Jack Del Rio made a bold move and named David Garrard the starting quarterback, and gave former #1 draft pick Byron Leftwich his walking papers, putting an end to number 7's disappointing tenure. Leftwich signed with Atlanta in the wake of Michael Vick's dogfighting indictment, and I got to see him play a few series in a mid-season game against Tennessee, and man, he stunk up the joint. Even if Garrard hadn't...

First things first, the Georgia Acquarium is a neat attraction that really doesn't have a comparison. Afterall, it boasts being the world's largest acquarium. There are many things to see and experience there, which definitely makes it, at the very least, interesting. — — I do, however, have several gripes with regard to the acquarium which make me feel like I will never patrionize their business again. For the most part, my complaints about the acquarium fall in line with other popular attractions, but I do not think that they are quite at the level to make it worth the trip. I feel that the cost for everything surrounding the trip to be quite ridiculous. The parking, admission to the acquarium and cost for food/beverages/gifts seem to be quite high. When you visit other popular attractions, you can justify the costs based on the return that you are getting during your visit. The two times that I visited, I spent about 3...

I recently discovered a gem of an amusement park. It's located in Angola, Indiana, and aptly named Fun Spot Amusement Park and Zoo. — My mother and I took five children ages 3,5 and 10 on a quiet Friday afternoon. Parking was plentiful, there was no waiting line to be admitted, and best of all there were rarely any lines for the rides all day. — The admission to get into Fun Spot is fairly priced, especially when compared to those roving carnivals that come and go for a weekend. An all day ride pass is $16 for anyone over 42" tall and is only $8 for those under 42" tall. General admission for those not riding is $4, and children under age two who are not riding are free. We were fortunate to have coupons from the campground that we were staying at so we were able to buy one admission and get the other for half price for everyone in our party. It was a great deal. — The younger...

The New Zoo is a great place to take the day and worry less about the daily stresses in your life! We make the short trip quite a few times a year. It never gets old seeing all of the animals. Our favorite to sit and watch are for sure the otters. It's also fun to feed the Coy and goats. When my parents come down from Michigan, they always make time to go to the New Zoo with us. We just spend the day walking around and taking pictures of the different exhibits. This is also an affordable place for couples and families on a budget. I'd rather spend the day at the New Zoo than a night in a bar any...

I hate the hassle of renting movies form the store. It seems like the fees go on forever with movie rental places. One of the best things about red box is that once the movie has been out for a prolonged time period it just charges your card and it's yours to keep. The downside is remembering to bring the movie back can be tough and since they keep your card number until the movie is returned, there is no way to avoid the charges. All in all I would say this is a great option for those who are responsible and get things done in a timely manner. For the rest of us I would suggest just purchasing the...

A major exhibition has opened at the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian in Santa Fe, New Mexico. — — Entitled, "From the Railroad to Route 66: The Native American Curio Trade in New Mexico," it traces Native American art and craft from the mid-19th Century to today. The exhibition coincides with the release of Jonathan Batkin's new book of a similar name, The Native American Curio Trade in New Mexico. The book and the exhibition follow 20 years of research by Batkin, the current Director of the Wheelwright. The visitor's tour through the time tunnel of Native American curio and craft work starts with the first dealer to open a store in Santa Fe, Aaron Gold and his son, Jake. The owners worked with Native artisans to create crafts that could be sold to visitors and to the world at large. — At the time, the interest in things Indian was explosive. Items were created by the thousands at the direction of trading posts and dealers. Actual Native significance...
