b0xb33z says "Rewards for what you normally do" about Citi Bank - Chicago, IL

Citi Thankyou points are the icing on the cake. There is a lot of things that people do that thank you points will reward you for. Checking accounts, savings, online bill pay and the list goes on and on. Just go to their site and read about the thankyou rewards there and you will see that you can passivley get a lot of points. If you use the these services then you will get points and they can get prizes or gift cards. If you use their debit card then you get more points.

Citi also has ATM's in almost all 7-11's and you will will get one and then there are a lot of promotions so you can get money to open an account. I do not live within 300 miles within a branch and I can get most everything I need online as well and that gets me thankyou points as well. Great bank and so I hope that people will consider it because all that means more points and more stimulus for our economy in a good way
...

I use to be with Chase years ago. I received an offer in the mail at deposited 100.00 free money into my account. I went to the bank to see what was going on. I immediately signed up. The only thing was it was not told in the fine print you had to match 100.00. I did it anyway. I have been very happy with the service I have regeived from Chase. Keep up the good work and great customer service. Chase has locations in just about every area you can find. Their banking hours are very convenient.
...

bsgini says "JP MORGAN CHASE IS STEALING MONEY FROM THEIR CUSTOMERS" about JP Morgan Chase - Chicago, IL

I recently discovered several unauthorized charges on my WAMU-Chase checking accounts. Immediately, I contacted the claim department to report these charges as unauthorized and fraud. The customer service told me that there was nothing could be done. At that time, I asked them to block any further internet charges from my account.

One week later, there were 25 more charges from multiple unrecognized processors appearing on my account. I then again contacted the claim department. They again told me that there was nothing could be done except filing an affidavit form to dispute these charges. I once again asked them to block my account and patiently waited for the affidavit form to be mailed to me.

Two days later, there were ten more charges appeared on my account. Over the course of 2 weeks, approximately $7,000 plus overdraft fees and service fees were withdrawn from my account. I, then went to local branch of WAMU-Chase bank to see help.

bpfeuffer says "Solid Interest Rate and Easy to Do Business With" about ING DIRECT - Wilmington, DE

We have had an ING Direct account since 2005. We have been impressed with the interest rate and the ease of doing business with an internet only company. One who is used to dealing with a brick and mortar bank, I was a little hesitant when I first signed up and only deposited the minimum. After handling a few transactions and seeing the interest piling up in my account, I started switching all of our savings accounts to ING. While it does take a few days to transfer money from the ING account to another bank, roughly 3 business days, I have not had the need to access the money any faster than that.

ING is extremely convenient. Now, I have not tried their other accounts, such as checking or mortgage loans, but I imagine they would be great as well. Personally, I enjoy checking the account and see how much interest I have earned month-to-date. This is a great options for emergency savings accounts!
...

AKMEDIA2 says "Pretty much every branch I visited gave outstanding service" about Bank of Hawaii - Honolulu, HI

Now this is a bank that reminds me of the old neighborhood banks where tellers are friendly and try to help you the most they can. They think on their feet and are very efficient in servicing their clients' needs. Whenever I've had any type of banking problem or issue, it was always resolved quickly and efficiently. Questions are answered right on the spot and there's efficient online supplemental services.

Their 24-hour customer support line is great. I've never had more than a wait of a couple of minutes to hold for any representative. This type of service I often took for granted until I had to deal with other banks. Then, I realized how great Bank of Hawaii really was.

The old stereotype here in Hawaii was that Bank of Hawaii was the "expensive" bank and it's true, their fees if you overdraw are probably much higher than other banks. But if you keep your account in good standing, their checking account is free and they have many other multiple services that they're well equipped to...
...

china-cat84 says "Worst online banking I have ever dealt with!" about HigherOne - New Haven, CT

HigherOne is a strictly online bank which caters soley to colleges. Basically, it offers the college an easy way to disperse loan refunds to its' students faster and easier so that they don't have to process a whole bunch of checks. The students also get their money faster, which is great. Sounds like a good idea, huh?

Well, it's not. At least with this institution.

First of all, the debit card they send you is horribly ugly. At least mine was. The background on my card is a close up of our school mascot - which is a "Reiver" - whatever the heck that is. Apparently, it's some kind of deranged pirate. (see photo). They also added my photo on the top of the card - which I normally wouldn't mind, sounds like a great security feature. However, the photo is the one from my student ID which is probably the worst photo I've ever taken! I was sick that day and about to fall asleep - so I look like a stoned Rudolf-the-red-nosed-reindeer. Lovely. But that's only the tip of the iceberg!

Chase Manhattan Bank took over Washington Mutual in Florida. They wanted new depositors, so they had an offer where a person received a $100 bonus if they began a new account with direct deposit.

I already had two other checking accounts, but I liked this idea, and decided to use the Chase account only for my mortgage. So I arranged to have my direct deposit changed; half would go to my main credit union account, the other half would go to Chase, and on the 15th of every month. my mortgage would be right there. Sounds easy, right?

This is what actually happened: I called Chase to find out when the $100 bonus would post, and was told it would post ten days after my first direct deposit. That meant it would post on August 31.

On September 1, I called again to make sure it had posted. I called the main number, who didn't even see anything pending, but they transferred me to the branch. The branch informed me they are using two different systems, not everybody can see everything,...
...

In August of 1995, I was an incoming freshman at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. At that time, Bank One, which later became Chase, had a branch on campus. I opened a checking account, and I kept that account until today. In the 14 years I had that checking account, I never bounced a check, was never overdrawn on the account, and never paid a penalty of any kind, until. . .

About a month ago, I deposited a check that was written to me. Several days later, I saw online that the check had bounced. I was upset at that moment, but I got even more upset a couple of days later when a "returned check" fee of $10 appeared on my account. Think about this for a minute; someone else made a mistake, and I had to pay for it. I decided to send an e-mail to customer service, and if that didn't work, I was going to go to my local branch and speak to them in person. Here is the e-mail I sent to customer service:

So, we needed new tires and thought the best way to go about this was to get a car title loan.. We were comfortable with the payment plan that they offer us at TExas Car Title and Payday loan but once we went to go pay a payment for our 600 dollar loan... We go in and pay 200 and get one paper with tolat of 525 after taxes and their added fees... So then my car gets totaled and we go in there to pay off our loan to get our title back and we are being charged 778 dollars... So this was only about a two weeks later that my total went to a greater amount than I was aware of and they said it was 15 dollars added every day you did not come in and pay off the loan... Lots of getting you in and making you never get rid of this loan... All i can say is watch out and ask questions, ask questions.... I for one will never ever use this place again... Use caution when appling... Dont listen to her say so all you have to pay will be this and this and then you are done, it is not true...
...

I wish no stars was an option. Fifth Third Bank is by far the worst bank I have ever used. They will do ANYTHING to collect ridiculous bank fees. I know a lot of people would say, well balance your checkbook and that won't happen, but I balance my checkbook and it still kept happening. They are downright fraudulent. And rude. Their customer service is horrible. Their system of having to go to the bank you opened your account for any issue besides a deposit is inconvenient. Their bill pay is slow. They take forever to post things, yet show it in the available balance. They will not refund your money when they screw up. They actually charged me NSF fees when my account was thousands in the positive, saying it was a bank error. Refunded two, but said they could not refund three because they had already refunded two. Completely psychotic system. Kiss your money good bye if you bank here.
...

No matter what you need, from loans to deposit accounts to investments, the credit union will take care of you. Everyone is always so nice and helpful! They try not to charge you fees- they tell you exactly how not to get fees- they even have accounts that prevent overdraft fees!
Had a free checking account with National City for years. I tried using their online banking but it was unreliable. They maintain their ATMs when during my drive to work because they are always temporarily offline. Their branches near me are not open past 6pm so I haven't used the account for over 6 months.

They only send statements every 3 months and the last one said they charged me $10 a month dormant account fee ($30). I went into the nearest branch on Saturday, stood in line for 22 minutes and they said their computers were down and they couldn't look up my account. I took a half hour off work today to go in today and they said they charged me another $10 dormant fee and closed my account. If you value your money, time or convenience avoid National City at all cost....

I went to the office, I liked "the guy" very much, but felt robbed. I paid $240 for a joint return. And my case couldn't be simpler - one W-2 and one sale of shares.

BTW, "the guy" also said he's a big believer in filing your own taxes, so next year I'm on my own. As I always was, btw, before I moved to US where everybody's making a big deal out of taxes.

I guess that's due to companies like HR block who advertise and push their products so much and make you feel you're uncapable of doing what your government thinks is your job - filing you taxes.

mschante1979 says "Terrible to do business with." about JP Morgan Chase - Chicago, IL

I have my car financed through J.P. Morgan and Chase. My car payments are due on the 20th of every month. If my payment isn't there on the 20th they call me the next day. I understand I owe them and I'm suppose to pay my bill but geeess...can I get a break? They call me at least 6 times a day. I thought you are suppose to get a 10 days grace period. There is no need for the hassles. They have someone from their call centers calling and someone from a local office near me calling. The lady who calls me from the local office is a very rude and demanding individual. She went as far as telling me what form of payment to use.

Another problem I have with Chase is the communicating with their reps. A lot of them barely speak or understand English. It is very frustrating speaking with someone who doesn't understand you. Would it hurt for them to hire people who speak the same language as their customers????
...

director59 says "Great Customer Service" about Ashleys Furniture - Orlando, FL

I purchased a Leather Love Seat and couch from Ashley Furniture in February of 2008 and also purchased the 5 year warranty. The dye started comng off both pieces about 5 days past the 1 year manufacturers warranty. I called Guardsman and they advised that this should be covered under the defective workmanship warranty and not the accidental damage warranty. I then called the Ashley Home store where I purchased the items and they transferred me to their main office in Ky. I spoke to Flo, who told me to send pictures of the damage and she would see if they could replace the furniture. I sent in the pictures and within 2 business days she called me back and advised they would replace both the love seat and couch. I received the new items within a week. Grat customer service!!!
...

Jackson Hewitt tax professionals are far from it. I made an appointment for a specific day and time. I showed up 20 minutes early for my appt. No one was there. I called the number that I used to make the appt and told them that no one was there to open the door. They called back 10 minutes later and said that the store was closed. I told them, I made the appt which they could obviously see on their computer screen. I told them I wanted to someone to come and meet me there. 15 minutes go by and person shows up with a teenager and a todler. i go in, the person is dressed casual and unprofessional, cell phone ringing and todler running in and out of room. The person messes up on my taxes, I have them fix it, they throw the mistaken copy in a box with other papers. They fix the problem, leaving the room to get the new printouts leaving me with all the papers from other tax payers sitting in the room. They charge me $500 for 2 returns. Not a professional place. Do...
...
