I recieved my Rival Fondue Pot as a wedding gift about 3 years ago and I LOVE IT!!! It's easy to use, easy to clean and comes with it's own recipes. The power cord attaches to the heating element with magnets so you can wash it in the dishwasher. (don't forget to pull the heating element out before washing). Washing in the dishwasher will make the bottom part kind of white and cloudy but you don't see the bottom when it's sitting on your table. The cord is VERY short and it says not to use an extension cord but unless you're going to have everyone standing around your kitchen counter to eat it you need to use an extension cord. I've used one and had no problems. Most recently I made a cheese fondue with it and got raving reviews from my guests. You make it right in the fondue pot. No cooking it on the stove or microwave then putting in the pot to stay warm. I was suprised at how quickly it was made too. I would say it took less than 5 minutes to make the cheese fondue. ...
...

Daquan13 says "Top-of-the-line Model! Shouldn't Have Any ProblemsWith It! " about Food Saver Vacuum sealer V3840

This unit is in FoodSaver's top-of-the-line model line.

After several years of dealing with the cheaper FooSaver units breaking down too often too soon, I decided to give the FoodSaver line one more try by buying one of their top models!

The cheapers ones seem to constantly break down too prematurely. The units would vacuum suck the air out, but they wouldn't seal the bags - an indication that the heat-seal strip had died too early! This is very aggravating, since the units aren't reall cheap pricewise, but I think they are very cheaply made!

In order to try to combat this annoying problem with the heater strip failing so blasted soon, I figured that if I buy one of their top models, that it would last longer.

This unit has it all! You no longer have to manually lock the bags down in the unit, you no longer have to aim the open end of the bag down into the vacuum chamber, and for most vacuum sealing, you don't even have to press the Seal button! It might look pretty complicated, but I...
...

I do lot of cooking. To fillet fish or cut raw meat, you need a sharp knife, otherwise you'll hack it to pieces. However... I don't have the money to invest in super sharp professional knives. I have I guess you would say, low to moderately priced knives in a block. They always need sharpening before cutting anything with precision. What came with the knife block was a textured, long, metal cylindrical thing with a wood handle. This was the knife sharpener. I also have one of these things which is a flat rectangle. They should call those knife ruiners. Unless you get the angle of the knife right and swipe it in one fluid motion keeping that same angle, you will make the knife dull, or end up getting pits in the blade. And you'd better watch yourself with butcher knives. Getting too focused on getting the angle right can make you miss the fact that you are about to slice your hand open. I don't know how anyone uses those things correctly.

How about electric can openers with the supposed...
...

arlenevlz says "Great slow cooker" about Rival Rival Electric Crockpot

There are many of you who may never have heard of a slow cooker like a Rival Electric Crockpot. It is very easy to use and requires you to only plug in the electric cord. The downside of this product is that you cannot or should not emerse it in water. It can only be wiped down with a sponge. I have had the Rival crockpot for more than ten years and it still can do what it always has done. It's perfect for stews, soups and chili con carne. Great for cooking a pack of fresh beans. When I make a stew, it take me from 1 hour to 2 to have the meal totally ready to enjoy. My soups take 1 1/2 hours and the chili 2 hours. It keeps the flavor inside. I know that on a conventional oven it would be less time cooking. What I love about Rival Electric Crockpot is that you can leave it alone, of course checking it from time to time, and do other chores in your home. Every vegetable or meat placed in the crockpot retains it flavor and it taste great.
...

Hamilton Beach Can opener, is a good investment. I got mine over 4 years ago for a wedding gift and still works as good as the first time I used it. The top of the can opener is magnetic so that you don't have the lid dropping into your can when you open it. It also has a bottle opener on the back, which cannot see from the picture. It work great as well. Mine is black and stainless steel and matches my kitchen decor. I think it was about $20 when it was bought for our wedding gift. If I had to buy it all over again, I would buy this same one. It is great quality and I could see it lasting for alot longer. The value for your money is definately worth it. You get those hand held ones and they just break after a few years and they get rusted. You don't have to worry about this with the this can opener. Oh by the way mine was bought at Target, if you are interested in buying one.
...

momsense says "A lifesaver for a busy mom and avid tea drinker!" about Braun 7 cup electric tea kettle

The Braun 7 Cup Electric Tea Kettle is a kitchen appliance that I can't believe that I ever lived without. It can boil water for tea from seconds to a few minutes depending on the amount of water you put into it. It can boil from 1 cup to 7 cups. It is more versatile than just making tea too. I use it to boil water for recipes requiring hot water (like jello). My husband got so tired of me burning up tea pots. I would put on the water to boil and then be called to do something someplace other than the kitchen. The pot would boil dry and then it would burn up. My hubby said I was lucky I didn't start a fire in the house. I even tried a number of whistling tea kettles, but when I was out of hearing range then the same thing would happen. This is an excellent solution. It turns off automatically when the water is boiling. If I am there, I make the tea and if I'm not...oh well. This is actually my second electric tea kettle. My first one was also a Braun but it was the 2 cup. This is much more...
...

Well lets how many nice things I can say about the GT Express 101 Cooker Grill. This appliance is amazing especially for someone like me who is busy and has four growing very hungry kiddos. My Children are very active so we don't always time to sit down to eat and the Gt Express helps them to have a variety of wonderful warm foods. It is so esasy to use that have started letting me eight year old son use it. The fact that all my kids can go in the kitchen and pull out a few simple ingredients and put together almost whatever they want is awesome. It helps me out so much cause they don't need me for everything . They can make snacks, breakfast, lunch and I have used it for dinner. It also make wonderful tasting quick desserts. Really the possibilities with this handy appliance are almost endless. My Husband who doesn't even like to step foot in the kitchen tries to find new things he can make with it. And just to add icing on the cake it is a breeze to clean up, most things you just simply...
...

I got the T-Fal BF6520004 1.7 L Electric Kettle as a wedding gift last year and I absolutely love it! It was purchased at Target for about $35 and was a great gift idea since I'm a tea lover. My favorite feature is that it has a dial to choose the water temperature, ranging from warm to boiling and I use it for everything from making tea to boiling eggs, to heating water for cooking. It holds enough water that I usually only need to fill it in the morning and it lasts all day. With it's built-in filter inside the spout it keeps any impurities out of the water as you pour it out, and since it doesn't have the heating coils inside the chamber it doesn't leave little flakes in the water. It might be a bit worse if you don't use filtered water, but I'm not sure since that's all I use. It's fairly small so it desn't take up much room on the counter, is easy to clean, heats water quickly, and shuts itself off once the water temperature desired is reached. I absolutely love it!
...

We have now owned the Brita Ultramax Water Dispenser for over 5 years and have never had one complaint about it! We decided to spend our money on the Water Dispenser rather then to keep spending money on bottled water. Great decision on our part. You can get the filters for a reasonable price and they do last for awhile. It is very easy to clean and change the filter...as well as easy to refill. I like how it has the digital filter replacement thing that lets you know when you should change the filter...we always have fresh tasting water that way. It came in quite handy too when I was diluteing my sons juice. My uncle raves about how goo our water tastes and he still can't believe that it is a Brita Water dispenser that gives us such great water...but it is. And I wouldn't go back to drinking regular tap water or buying bottled water again. The Brita Ultramax Water Dispenser is here to stay!
...

I went into a store I had never been to. Shame on my neighbor for telling me about Home Goods. Out of curiosity I went in and was looking around actually for anything that would go into our bathroom as our shower had just been redone. Well I didn't find anything for the bathroom, but started my way to the other side of the store. I think some of you women can relate to this you go in looking for one thing, but come out with another item.

That's what happened to me, went for bathroom decor, came out with a Kitchen item. This Farberware Commercial Stainless Steel Food Chopper is the next best thing since sliced bread. I love garlic but dreaded chopping it. This chops vegetables, cheeses, fruits herbs, nuts (great when I make Banana Bread), chocolate, really just about anything.

It includes a covered container for storage for the chopped food, so you can do it ahead of time or if you do not use it all. With the self-contained unit you do all the chopping without a cutting board. And the food chopper...
...

TunefulGal says "Hang this Xmas-red apple/potato Peeler very low on your tree! " about Back To Basics, a Brand of Focus Electric, LLC Peel Away Peeler

I'm not a cook. And I'm certainly not a peeler. One time hand-peeling a half dozen apples for a go at microwave-chunky applesauce pooped me out. Unfortunately, the homemade applesauce (I used Granny Smith apples) emerged so warm and delicious that I was trapped. To peel? Or not to peel?

My answer, after a little research, turned out to be the Back to Basics Peel Away Peeler which, if you're comparison shopping varies widely through the $20+ dollar range online and in stores. I liked the fact that it this was a cast iron gadget just like the one Grandma used to use. (She didn't know nothing from the aluminum options also available now.)

After choosing the Back to Basics brand, I decided on the vacuum grip model that sticks to the counter with a mere turn of the handle on the suction device. Clamping, I believed, would create difficulties, but there is that option if you're working at a table.

Of course, you can't turn on an apple peeler and leisurely watch it work. Uh-huh. ...
...

theladyiscrazy says "Bake without heating the house with Rival 18 Qt Roaster Oven" about Rival RO188BR 18 Quart Roaster Oven

This is a great addition to every kitchen. The Rival 18 QT Roaster Oven is small enough to set on a counter, table or even the back porch yet big enough to cook large batches of food. You can use it like an oven to bake things like chicken. You can put in three whole roaster chickens at once. You can even bake a 20 lb turkey for Thanksgiving in less time than one traditionally does in the oven. The secret, with the roaster lid, it helps steam the turkey. The same happens with a ham; less time from start of cooking to having it on the table ready to eat.

This can also be utilize like a crock pot, at lower temps to cook up large batches of soups and/or chilis. You can then just serve it in the container at a party. If you would like to keep three separate things (like potatoes, veggies, etc) warm for a party, you can put in the three single trays in the roaster oven over top of water and keep the items warm.

Please make sure you use pot holders though, as this does get hot. ...
...

A few years back I bought this roaster from QVC. I was doing a lot of entertaining and needed something to fix a large amount of meat in. This one has a fan which makes it a convection oven as well. It has a non stick removable pan that you can pull out and wash separately. My first meal in it was a turkey for Thanksgiving. We put it our in the garage to save on space. The neighborhood dogs were sitting at the garage door waiting, you could smell it! Our turkey was moist and delicious. I do regret not ordering the buffet serving service because it would have given me 3 individual serving pans. I don't hesitate to use this for anything. I have baked a cake in it, a pie, potatoes, etc. I have taken it back and forth to work for potlucks because everyone knew I had the big pan to cook in. Even if I only use this 4 times a year, it was worth the price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one for someone who cooks a lot, this is one thing that can give you space on your counter,...
...

A do-it-yourself replacement. The Kenmore Food Waste Disposer is a huge improvement over what we had before. It is so much quieter and grinds quickly and completely. Even the drain stopper is different. Easier for the food to go down and the stopper fits snugly so you can fill the sink with water for food projects. My husband did a self-installation and was not difficult but did take a little time, but mainly because our old one was not wired correctly when we had the house built way back in 1988. Took us a while to figure that one out. There was an always on plug that we mistakenly used for the disposer but found out that that plug was for the instant hot water dispenser. Makes sense! Just in case something falls into the opening, it is large enough to get your hand down in there to search around and find the object before it clangs or stops the action. one thing I did find out.....it will not dispose of a dishrag.
A Nice upgrade after all these years .
...

aubreyst says "amazing way to grow your own herbs" about Aerogarden Elite 6+

I'm an aerogarden lover. One thing I particularly love about aerogardens is that it is a fairly green product. The nutrient tablets are organic(according to the makers of aerogarden) and the system uses CFL bulbs as opposed to traditional lightbulbs. The makers say it costs under 3 dollars to run an aerogarden per month. Someone who reviewed this one said it smells. Well, it is made of plastic, so anything fresh from the factory may have a plastic-y smell for a couple days, it wears off. Personally, I noticed it getting it out of the box, but never again after that and I do have a particularly sensitive nose.

We love to cook and really enjoy the herb kits most. I kill plants/flowers/veggies otherwise, but I easily figured out the aerogarden and it takes VERY little time to keep it flourishing. Now I realize my review is long, but there were a lot of things to consider for me in picking my new aerogarden and hopefully they will help you in your decision!

I have previously owned an aerogarden...
...

I do know that I would most definitely purchase the Pur Flavor Option Filter. would not replace it with my original Pur Filter. I would purchase the Pur Flavor Option Filter and another Pur Pitcher for the sake of my grandchildren. They need to drink more water and this would be a good way to get them to do it. The Pur Flavor Option Filter is a very good idea for those who drink alot of water like I do. I would like the Pur Flavor Option Filter because sometimes I like to have flavor instead of plain water. I am sure the grandchildren along with my son would enjoy the Pur Flavor Option Filter too. I am happy knowing that I can get this Pur Flavor Option Filter and use the same Pur pitcher that I already have. But I would purchase another Pur pitcher to keep the Pur Flavor Option Filter because I like plain water just as well. I am a fan of most Pur products and this will go with...
...

I received this as a gift from my daughter and use it almost everyday. I fill it in the morning for my tea and after it heats up I have enough hot water for my first and second cup of the morning. The kettle is cordless and sits on a magnetic heater while warming up and then you can take the kettle to the table, outside or wherever you are sitting.

The only disadvantage to this (as with most tea kettles) is in cleaning. Since only water goes in it does not get dirty on the inside but I would like to be able to clean it once in a while as I hope to keep it for a long time.
...

I am on my second Nesco 5 tray food dehydrator. I literally wore out my first one! I've dehydrated vegetables such as tomatoes - I had a garden and canned alot when I ran out of storage room I decided to dehydrate them. It was wonderful! You could put so many tomatoes in a quart jar I was amazed. I also put some of the dehydrated tomatoes in olive oil too. I used them in soups, chilis, stews - any place that I would use tomatoes. If there wasn't alot of liquid in the dish I'd rehydrate the tomatoes before I used them. I also made alot of beef and venison jerky. The excess grease in the meat would settle in the bottom of the dehydrator - all I had to do was wipe out with a paper towel and was ready for the next batch. Mine ran almost constantly for a week solid more than one time. Considering the use it was put through I thought it lasted along time. It was actually still running well when I got the second one, my late husband thought I needed a new one - that's the...
...

I was not familiar with Fit & Fresh products until I noticed a bright orange clearance sticker (my favorite kind of sticker!) slapped on the side of a box of the Fit & Fresh Smart Portion Chill Containers at my local grocery store. I'm not sure why the box was on clearance but I'm still gloating over my big find that day because I love this product!

The Product: The Fit & Fresh Smart Portion Chill Containers is a 10 piece set of four 2 Cup plastic containers, four lids, and two removable ice packs. Each 2 Cup container has measurements listed on the front, which start at 1/2 Cup (4 oz.) and goes up in 1/2 cup increments to the maximum 2 Cup (16 oz.) measurement. The two removable ice packs fit inside any of the four lids.

Material: All of the products are BPA (bisphenol A) free, made of food grade plastics, and the liquid contents of the ice packs are non-toxic. The containers and lids are easy to clean and are top rack dishwasher safe. The ice packs cannot...
...
