The month of May was approaching and my husband had asked me what I wanted for my birthday...and I had requested a small rice cooker. Thinking he would forget, he found the Cuisinart CRC-400. This is a small, efficient, compact rice cooker/steamer. Since our family had downsized (my eldest going off to college) I didn't need a large rice cooker in the home.

I haven't used the steamer portion of the cooker yet, so I can't comment on that benefit, but I use the rice cooker frequently. Being of Asian descent (second generation), we know our rice! The rice cooker does a fine job of automatically cooking and transferring to the warmer setting.

The only two downfalls I can think of in regards to this cooker is that when you take out the steamer basket to cook the rice, the lid doesn't fit properly. It wobbles around a little. The other would be, I would like if it had a retractable power cord. I like the spatula that is provided with the setup. It's surface...
...

i have owned this rice cooker for 10 years, and make rice in it at least 4 times a week. it still works just the same way it did in the very beginning, and is completely relible. i use a special california rice that tastes good, even when it is cold, so that may make quite a difference in the final product. i know it's called a fuzzy logic rice cooker, but i'm not sure what that means, and i have a feeling it's just a marketing gimmick. b

however, the resulting rice is fantastic, and i recommend this prodoct to people, as long as they can find it. it might be a little hard to come by. i had to go all the way to japan to buy this particular model. it keeps the rice warm, but sometimes the percipitation in the inside leaks onto the rice and makes it a little mushy around the edges. also, since there is a little spout that lets out steam, make sure not to put it under wooden cabinets. it can water damage the underside of your cabinets.
...

brandywilson says "This appliance is only second to my blender!" about Cuisinart Cuisinart 8-cup Rice Cooker (CRC-800)

It appears I like expensive products. Not really, but I like the ones that are durable and will stand the test of time and produce great food quality.

After buying this rice cooker, I have almost forgotten how to make rice on the stove! I don't just use the cooker for plain white rice... I also create other rices in there (some favorites include: chopped veggie rice, spanish rice...) by just throwing in all the ingredients and pushing the "cook" button. It's a timed machine based on weight and water density that automatically turns the red (cook button) to green (warm buttom) when it's done. You can hear the "click" and should notice it's complete as well.

I use this a few times a week and it cooks rice faster than it would on the stove, it's never burnt, and always consistent. It cooks up to 8 cups too! And you can cook your veggies on the top!

A few pieces of advice:

1. Even if you aren't steaming veggies, keep the insert in during a cook session. This is because (with practice, I've...
...

I received my aroma 10 cup rice cooker and steamer as a christmas gift and I'am thrilled with it's versatility. It is really easy to use and super simple to clean and store. I really like that it doubles as a steamer. Since I recived my rice cooker and steamer I find myself eating vegetables with every meal. As a rice cooker it works really well. The rice always comes out perfect. Not just white rice either it makes wonderful brown rice to. I had always used the stove top to cook rice and found brown rice to be either tough or rubbery not appealing at all. It is not just for rice and vegetablesit makes perfect asian dumplings. I love being in my kitchen cooking and baking and can honestly tell you that this is a product that is worth purchasing. If your looking for an easy healthy way to start eating this is the appliance for you. this is one of the sides my whole family likes even the kids. If you steam the veggies then put them in a bowl with a little parmasan cheese a...
...

I love my pampered chef rice maker - haven't used recently - but when i do use it the rice is perfect everytime. I am one of those people who really cares about saving money and providing for my family! This is a product that will help you do that. You don't have to have a family either to appreciate this product. It is readily found at most local stores, sometime on ebay, and you can order from most retail locations. It would silly not to enjoy the savings and convience of this item! Definitely a must for every home, apartment, condo, etc. I have been using this product for years. I was not always cost concious - however, it was the best price and the time and continues to be the best price today. Especially with our economy where it is, everyone needs to find products that can save them money and remain dependable. Because i have a family i am always concerned with how my purchases affect them in the long run - this is a great item.
...

Works just fine. It's simple and basic, and good for cooking small quantities of rice. Just right for 2, or maybe up to 4, people. The non-stick coating makes for easy cleanup. And since it doesn't have a "warm" feature, there's even less chance of rice sticking to the bottom. The warm feature isn't really needed, since one is likely to use up what's been cooked during one's meal, before the rice gets cold.
Sometimes, while cooking, the rice water will foam up and sputter out the side.
Well, some varieties of rice DO create more foam than others.
I don't think foaming is the fault of the rice cooker; rice just tends to foam while cooking. Try rinsing the rice several times before cooking. That usually reduces the amount of foam. Some people even soak the rice for a while before cooking, but this can be a nuisance if time is an issue.
This IS a rather small cooker, so cooking 2 or more cups of uncooked rice will be more likely to cause some sputtering, although, once again, the variety of rice...
...

I love my Aroma rice cooker. I have had mine now for probably about 3 years, and it replaced a older 3 cup Aroma rice cooker model that got left behind in a move. This is extreamly easy to use, basically add in up to 3 cups rice, and fill to the 1, 2 or 3 mark on the inside of the cooker. press the button and in about proably 15 mins you have yourself perfectly cooked rice, no hard crunchy rice!!!!!

Once finished the cooker automatically puts itself into "warm" mode to keep your rice hot and ready for you. I usually start mine when i start dinner and then i dont even have to worry about it again. It also comes with a nifty rice paddle to scoop it out.

My only sugguestion is for you to lightly spray the inside of the cooker prior to adding in rice with a non stick spray, that way clean up is even easier. The size is perfect for 2-4 people, if you are feeding any more than that you probably want to get a bigger cooker. Mine also came with a recipe book that had some nice......

The Aroma 10 cup rice cooker/vegetable steamer is nothing short of amazing! I am a very busy mom of 5 kids and I love to cook, but some evenings there is just not enough time for me to make a full course meal from scratch, but we don't eat frozen foods. So when time is tight, I love to get out the rice cooker. We throw in some rice, water, salt and sometimes some garlic seasoning or soy sauce, put in the veggie steaming tray and throw in some broccoli and cauliflower or carrots, hit the cook button and it is good to go.

The cooker has a timer on it so I don't have to watch it. It takes roughly 15 minutes to cook a batch. When time is up, it automatically switches to warm. The rice turns out perfect every time. It can be some nice long grain rice, or sticky rice if you prefer. The veggies also turn out nicely.

Not only do the rice and veggies turn out perfect every time, but it is so easy to clean! The pot comes right out and practically wipes clean. (It has a non stick surface. We have...
...

My cousin's husband works for Black & Decker. I knew I was getting something B & D for my wedding present. I was right. It was the Black & Decker Flavor Scenter handy steamer and rice cooker. I used that for almost every meal that I cooked for nine long years, until all the water started coming out of the bottom all over the counter. I was devastated when he died. How could I cook vegetables, meat, seafood, and rice in a healthy manner anymore? There is no other way to cook spinach or turnip greens!

I went on a hard target search of any store that sold small appliances in the city of Colorado Springs. Yes, I found the exact same one that I got for my wedding! Bliss!

This is a large-capacity food steamer and rice cooker.

I bought the Rice Maker last year and use it all the time! It is our first rice maker and one of the best purchases I have made. I actually got it for free at Bed Bath n Beyond as a part of a gift card promotion they were running. I believe it retails for about $20-25. I use to prepare rice on the stovetop, but it was a hassle and never quite came out very well. After using this rice cooker for the first time, we could tell a complete difference in rice cooked on a stovetop and rice steamed in a rice cooker. It is the most delicious rice you will taste! I follow the recipe guide in the product manual for the type of rice I am making to know how much water to dry rice ration to add. I mainly make Jasime rice, but have made plain white rice as well. It comes out moist, flavorful, and "sticky" every time. It takes about 20 minutes to cook a bowl of this rice and feeds my husband and I with leftovers. It is a jiff to clean, just remove the removable non-stick bowl and wash by hand of place...
...

I had never owned a rice cooker before this one, and I purchased it last year during a 'Black Friday' sale at Elder-Beerman. The Oster Rice Cooker 4722 performed well for the price point (less than $15 on sale with rebate). However, the rice on the bottom would get overcooked, sometimes to the point of turning brown or burning. To counteract this problem you must stir it often, which takes away one of the reasons why I purchased a rice cooker in the first place. I bought it so that I could easily cook rice without worrying about stirring it or having it boil over and make a mess. Relating to the mess, another problem with this cooker is that it spews hot sticky water out of the lid and onto the kitchen floor, counter and cabinets. This was easily fixed by placing the unit on a kitchen towel. The major issue I have with this rice cooker is that it broke after only using it about once a week for a year.
...

I love the fact that I can throw everything in & walk away. I hate the measurements. It practically requires a degree in rocket science. It refers to "measures of rice" & tells you that you must use the cup they send with it, but the fill line on the cup doesn't actually equal a "measure" of rice, it's one of the many lines that are shown, but isn't marked. I have to read the directions several times every time I use it (I don't use it often enough to remember all that's involved). If it were easier to use I probably would use it more often. My favorite part is that when it's finished cooking it pops over to "warm". You don't have to watch timers & worry about burning.
...

We've had our Black & Decker HS2776 Double-Decker Flavor-Scenter Steamer Deluxe for many years now and it still works wonderfully. I prefer rice steamed in this unit over cooking rice on the stovetop since cooked rice is clumpy and stuck together, yet when steamed it stays fluffy. This steamer deluxe is easy to use (there is a timer to set and it turns itself off when completed). I prefer to hand wash the cover, steaming bowls, rice bowl and drip tray, however they are top rack dish washer safe. Calcium and other minerals do build up on the heater element in the water reservoir, however these are easily removed by covering the element with white vinegar and heating until the deposits fall off. You do have to be sure to rinse the water reservoir thoroughly so that your food doesn't taste like vinegar later. It steams fresh and frozen fruit, vegetables, seafood, fish and meats. I either use a spray on oil or wipe oil onto the bottom and sides of the steamer bowls before adding the food so...
...

The Oster 12-Cup rice cooker is a multi-use cooker made by Sunbeam that also doubles as a vegetable steamer. With its non-stick coated pot you don't have to worry about rice sticking to a stovetop pot. There is a convenient condensation cup holder that hold the rice water when the lid is opened. Once you put the water and rice in the cooker you press the button down where a red light comes on meaning it is cooking, When the rice is done it will automatically click up to the warm setting. It's a great feature if you are multi-tasking or if you aren't watching the time so the rice won't burn. There is a paddle that comes with the product for easy serving and also a paddle holder on the side. This rice cooker also has a steamer basket for vegetables. It's great to have a rice cooker and steamer combo. A recipe book is also included, which makes the best rice pudding ever! It's very easy to use, clean, and store. It may be big but well worth the investment. I've had...
...

"Yah needa getta wrice cookah"

I looked up at the solemn expression of the Asian woman standing in front of me. I asked what a rice cooker would do for me and she began to embark on a long diatribe of why a person could not LIVE without possessing a rice cooker.

For years I never could find one. I looked, but none of the stores had one. Over the years I forgot about it.

One day I was wandering through the Dollar General store and found a PROCTOR SILEX 10 CUP RICE COOKER in their appliance section. The price was not too bad, so I decided to buy it for my family for Christmas. After all, NO FAMILY could survive without one, right?

WHAT IS THE PROCTOR SILEX 10 CUP RICE COOKER LIKE?

The PROCTOR SILEX 10 CUP RICE COOKER is a nifty little gizmo. It has a plastic housing that sits on the counter on three legs. It is quite sturdy despite the three vs four legs it stands upon.

A teflon coated aluminum pan sits on the container, which has large disc inside. In the center of the...
...

The Sanyo ECJ-B35 3.5 Rice Cooker is one of the best investments I've purchased in a long long time! IT is practical and has a modern design. It gives you a traditional taste with very little effort. Durable Titanium coated and even has an extra thick inner pot which is 5 mm thick! Very thick by todays standards! Makes a great housewarming gift as well as an engagement or Christmas gift for a couple or coworker, though I don't think a spouse would appreciate a gift for the kitchen unless it was something that she actually asked for! With this extra thick bottom for even distribution for even cooking it makes this rice cooker a great deal. It even has 3 cooking sections for cooking white or mixed rices. And even has a warming function! I love to make rice without a lot of cleanup and this one definately fits the bill. It's also priced right for under $50 at most Target, Walmart, and Best Buy stores.
...

elvisdo says "The Proctor Silex Rice Cooker Makes Me Feel Like a Great Chef" about proctor silex MODEL 37533 RICE COOKER

One thing every Asian family has (or I would assume they would have) is a rice cooker of some sort. My parents gave one to me when I moved to the United States but it was one that could feed an army. I didn't need such a huge rice cooker unless I was planning on becoming a sumo wrestler or opening a Chinese restaurant. So while I have that saved away for dinner parties I knew I needed a smaller one for everyday use. The Proctor Silex Rice Cooker is the perfect foil to its big brother.

My wife always said it was hard to cook rice since she tried it a few times using a pot over the stove. To me, doing it that way was absolutely foreign to me. Why go through that trouble when a rice cooker will do all the work for you? But to her, a rice cooker was just a foreign. I showed her just how wrong that notion was.

The Proctor Silex Rice Cooker (Model #37533) makes ten cups of cooked rice. Keep in mind this is ten cups of the plastic measuring cup that is included with the rice cooker. I was actually...
...
