ecw2000 says "I was very pleased with this product" about Presto Microwave Popcorn Popper - PowerPop Multi-Popper

I was/am very pleased with Presto's PowerPop Microwave Popcorn Popper. It is easy to use; easy to clean; can be used with or without oil, with or without salt and with or without butter. I have been able to reuse the popping cardboard/paper inserts several times each and find they are worth the money in the long run.

I really like that you can just pop, remove from the microwave and start eating without dirtying any more dishes. The resulting popcorn is healthier that microwave popcorn popped in bags with the additives and artificial ingrediants. I can control how much oil, butter and salt (if any) that is used.

Clean up is a breeze and it is dishwasher safe. The product is worth the price and I have recommended this popper to many friends. Because I don't have to worry about the lack of an on/off switch or the outside heating up (as with the electric oil-heater popcorn machines), I find this to be one of the most family/child-friendly popcorn poppers.
...

ecw2000 says "Sadly, it didn't meet my expectations..." about West Bend Stir Crazy - Popcorn Popper

Sadly, the West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Maker 82306 didn't live up to my expectations. I was so excited because it made me remember the nostalgic taste and experience of popping popcorn with a little bit of oil, butter and salt and watching the butter melt down onto the kernals. I was not impressed with the lack of an on/off switch. I was disappointed when the non-stick coating started flaking after the second use.

On a positive note, I did like the top's ability to double as the bowl. It was relatively easy to clean up and my daughter really enjoyed watching it stir and pop. (I did too!) This did pop more kernals than some of the other poppers I have used.

I feel the one from my youth was built better and performed better than this one and that it isn't worth the price I paid. However, I would still recommend it to my friends/family if they are looking for an electric hot-oil popper with a warning that the outside gets very hot so caution is needed - especially around children...
...

ecw2000 says "Love it!" about Presto Presto Hot Air Popper

I really like Presto's Hot Air Popcorn Popper. This is the 3rd one I have purchased. One was from a yard sale and after several years, I decided to replace with a new one. They have always been very good and I have no complaints. I love the fact that the top of the popper (little round tray) is removable to measure and pour in the popcorn kernals and/or used for melting the butter, if you choose to have butter on your popcorn. This works great for those that want popcorn without the additives that are found within the numerous microwave popcorn bags/products.

I have forgotten and placed the yellow "shield" and butter melter/cup in the dishwasher - top rack - and haven't had any problems, though the manufacturer advises against placing them in the dishwasher.

If I had one thing I would like to change or add to this product, it would be adding an on/off switch. I do not like having the machine automatically start as soon as I plug it in. Nor do I like the fact that I have...
...

This popcorn maker has made life so much easier! No more burnt bags of popcorn. The taste this popper offers and its easy use and setup are qualities that drew me to the product originally. Basically you use the kernals, oil, pouring both together into the popper before placing in the mirowave. It is nice because you are not forced to turn on the stove to pop the kernals. Our microwave pops a full popper in under 2 minutes, and this fresh air popped popcorn is an entire family hit. Plus, the heath benefits from this popcorn make microwave popcorn a thing of the past in our family. Look for low fat oil to make this air popped treat even healthier! You do have to buy liners for the popcorn maker, but they are fairly inexpensive, and one package has lasted us over a year, even with frequent use. The popper is easy to clean, just pop out the liner and run soap and water in the bowl...I believe it even might be dishwasher safe!
...

When I originally saw the Stir Crazy Popcorn Maker, it was in a Black Friday ad for about $20. My husband kept telling me that "we didn't need it" and "where would we put it once we bought it"? I was adamant, however; memories of my grandmother's popcorn maker and all the times she'd used it to make popcorn for us while watching t.v or a movie in the livingroom were too strong for me to ignore. It had been years since that time, but I still remembered just how good that popcorn tasted and I wanted to be able to make some of my own. I had to work that day but I left money and instructions with my step-father, who graciously agreed to do the shopping for my mother and me, to pick one of the stir crazy popcorn makers up for me.

When I got to my parent's house after work, I found that he'd gotten one of the first ones. I was thrilled! I looked forward to this so much that when I got home, I opened it right up and read the instructions so I could make myself some of those childhood...
...

A popcorn lover my entire life, I was given the Gourmet Chef air popper as a birthday gift last year by my youngest daughter. Ever since then, it is a snack of choice several evenings a week. It's great to have the choice of plain or butter popcorn for a snack. Many hockey nights include the making of a popcorn snack. The warm kernels allow seasoning to be added and stick to the kernels for added taste. Even our family dogs, line up when they hear the popcorn kernels pouring into the well of the popper. As it starts up, errant popped corn may find it's way outside of the large bowl. Those that land on the floor, are quickly gobbled up by our largest dog, Tank. As for Bailey, he is a connoseur of popcorn, preferring to wait patiently for the butter to be added. He sits at my feet, waiting for his sad, begging eyes to guilt me into tossing butter kernels his way. Therefore, it is important to make enough for all.
...

fluxmaster says "Great gift for popcorn lovers" about Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper

I bought this for my husband, who is a popcorn freak! I'm not kidding. That man LOVES his popcorn and so I did some research and figured that the old fashioned popcorn maker would beat any of the electric machines. So, I bought him the whirlypop popcorn popper that you use on the stove.

We've had it for years now. And boy! this little thing gets used several times a week.

It really does a fantastic job of leaving very few unpopped kernels. The clever handle and turning device makes it distribute the kernels while you cook and the lid shuts airtight so that there's enough pressure built up inside for the popcorn to pop well without burning.

You just put a tiny bit of oil in with the kernels, turn on the stove and crank!

We actually gave away our air pop popcorn maker and use this to make popcorn (although we still use the microwave popcorn so my husband can have some at work, too -- told you he was a popcorn freak!).

I think it'd be fun for your kids, too, if you have them.
...

This popcorn maker is awesome! I received it as a gift from my mother-in-law for Christmas two years ago and have used it a lot since then. I've also gotten my mom hooked on it, and she's bought a number of these Whirley Pop Stovetop Popcorn poppers to give as gifts since then.

I love the fact that in nearly the same amount of time it takes to nuke a bag of microwave popcorn, you can have popcorn that tastes so much better. And of course you can then control how much oil, butter, seasoning, etc. goes onto your popcorn. You can make it as healthy or unhealthy as you like.

It takes about 2-5 minutes to pop a 6-quart batch. My favorite snack using this popper is kettle korn. Every time I serve this at events, I get rave reviews. The recipe for the kettle korn comes in the whirley pop booklet that accompanies the popper.

The only downsides are that the metal clip that holds the lid on may become bent or loose. My mom had to bend hers with a pair of pliers so that the lid would stay on. Also,...
...

It is better than an air popper machine and light-years better than microwave popcorn.

It is very easy to use, just pour the appropriate measurement of oil and popcorn on the popping surface, cover (add butter to the butter dish if you wish) and plug it in! A few minutes later, wala! you have great popcorn. I usually don't put butter on mine. The vegetable oil gives it a nice taste, with the addition of salt of course, but that is simply my low fat preference.

There is a nice butter dish that is on the top of the bowl (when it is popping) and allows the butter to melt and drip down on the popcorn. A really nice feature!

Due to the nature of this popcorn machine, with its very hot exposed surface, I highly recommend you do not let children use this machine. They could be easily burned. Also make sure you use it where it won't fall off a counter and burn someone or something. So it can be a safety hazard, please be careful with it.

Cleaning is somewhat of a pain but not too bad, just...
...

I am a popcorn lover, and it has great childhood memories of Mom popping up big kettle for all of us around the TV, or sitting around the campfire popping corn in the basket... so I just DO NOT LIKE microwave popcorn, can't abide hot air, and am not thrilled with the poppers I've been gifted with in the past... until my sister, who feels the same, gave me this fantastic stove top popper (Take note- GREAT Christmas gift, dorm gift etc for popcorn purists!) The Whirley Pop Stovetop Popper pops up a great, generous bowl of popcorn with that true old fashioned taste. It requires very little oil, the handle crank keeps the kernels rotating nicely and avoids burning without having to shake the pan, which is no good for your electric burners! And with the Whirley Pop, your Mom will NOT have fits when you burn the bottom of her good Revereware (ahhh, the memories!). The lid latch prevents burning if you overdue the amount of kernels, and this cleans up very easily, unlike larger "automatic" poppers...
...

My family loves popcorn! We used to eat the microwave popcorn until I started reading labels. The junk that goes into microwave popcorn is appalling! So we looked at the alternatives and chose a Presto PopLite Popcorn Maker. This popcorn maker is an air-popper! We love it! It keeps a healthy snack healthy! You can eat as-is or add your own toppings. So for people who want a healthy alternative to microwave popcorn, here it is. It is almost as fast as microwaving and the popcorn just tastes better. Popcorn is such a great lowfat snack too. I love watching a good movie and enjoy snacking on popcorn with the family. We have had several hot air popcorn makers and this is one of the best performing products. If you want to spend time with family and make memories - I recommend spending time with family and watching a good movie and having popcorn too. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as my family has.
...

In 1990 I bought my first West Bend stir crazy popcorn maker for five dollars at a garage sale. It was only a 4 quart and the cover/bowl was a transulent yellow (our current one is a six quart, and the lid is clear), and worked great until around 1998 when the plate just wouldn't heat anymore. After that I couldn't find one until 2007! Boy was I happy when I saw it in the Christmas isle, and even more pleased when Santa left it for me under the tree! I like to watch the popcorn pop through the cover (which becomes the serving bowl when turned upside down by clasping the heat resistant handles). It reminds me of when I was a kid and the day care I attended would pop popcorn in a large popper minus the lid and each of us kids would run around the kitchen with our own small Styrofoam cup to catch the popcorn in. I prefer my popcorn crisp and unbuttered so I do not melt butter through the butter well. Because the stir crazy has a non-stick heating surface I wipe it clean with a paper towel...
...

I love popcorn and I love the ease and convenience of making it in the microwave. But, I don't like all the added butter and salt, even the light versions can be too salty or buttery for my taste. With the Presto Powerpop microwave popcorn popper, I can make popcorn to suit my taste-for a lot less too! The popper looks similar to a bowl with a lid, but it has a special disk that screws onto the bottom of the bowl and then you stick a paper disk inside the bowl. I use two tablespoons of popcorn kernals, put it inside the bowl and put the lid on. I put it in the microwave (1000w) on high for 2 1/2-3 minutes. It doesn't take long before the kernals start popping and the kitchen is filled with the scent of fresh popped popcorn. When it is done, remove it from the microwave, remove the lid carefully to avoid steam burns, and removed the disk on the bottom of the bowl. I eat the popcorn directly from the bowl, plain, no butter, no salt-just the way I like it. And it is cheaper than buying the...
...

Dear readers today the review is about the chef popcorn maker and all popcorn makers. Do you know the popcorn goes everywhere and on the floor and on the counter? I tried the chef one and popcorn went everywhere. The other popcorn makers do the same unless someone has a technique. I do not care for popcorn makers that spills food everywhere. I use a old fashion pot and I put oil in it and then the corn and then I pop it unitl is good and fresh. I pray that anything sown in dishonor will be raised in dishonor regarding the way we eat our food for the house. And the house guest waiting for the popcorn they would be astonished. Well, I wanted to let you know to be choosy about what you purchase out of the store and to take it home to family. You know the young siblings do be watching to see if you are doing things right for the family and I want to make a good impression. I pray I do now with my grandchildren.
...

ApriBambino says "DELICIOUS popping good fun for the family !!" about Whirley Pop Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper

Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper

My family's not a big fan of microwave popcorn so I often made it on the stove in one of my big heavy pots. This was fine but not very practical as the stainless steel pot was too heavy to lift and shake properly to keep the corn from burning, ok so I'm a weakling lol.

I'd often complain about this and finally one day gave in and took a trip to Target to check out corn poppers. The hot air poppers in my opinion are too noisy so I didn't consider those. I wasn't comfortable with the grill style poppers so left them in the breeze. The dome style electric poppers were just too expensive. I know I'm picky about my popcorn but I finally made my eye to the Whirley-Pop Stovetop Popcorn Popper.

The perfectly sized steam vented ( lid) six quart aluminum pot has a built in crank style stirring mechanism /handle that helps you easily keep the corn moving while it pops so it doesn't burn, yahoo finally!

I add about a tablespoon of canola oil to the pot as its heating,...
...

westy says "Beats out all of the gourmet poppers!" about West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn maker

If you're looking for a popcorn maker that makes superb popcorn then look no farther than the Westbend Stir Crazy Popcorn Popper. A simple non-stick product that has only one removable moving part. Uses very little oil (peanut oil is preferred) and the unit heats evenly so there are very few if any unpopped kernels. Non greasy kernels provide a very special and tasty treat. If you prefer you can also add butter/margarine that cascades and drizzles overtop the popped corn. The dome that protects your kitchen from errant kernels also serves as a serving bowl. Clean up is a snap. The bowl and cover are diswasher safe, while the heating unit cleans up easily with a soft wet sponge. You will not be disappointed with this product. It's also very well priced at approximately $35 dollars.
...

irving01 says "It's the best one I've tried!" about Presto Microwave Popcorn Popper - PowerPop Multi-Popper

I've tried a few microwave popcorn poppers that were even less expensive and they always ended up cracking after a few weeks of daily use. (I like my popcorn, OK?) I hesitated to try the Presto Microwave popcorn popper because of the paper insert (the "concentrator") that you place in the bottom. It seemed like just another thing that would make the process more complicated than it needs to be. I mean, microwave popcorn in the pre-filled bags is so easy! Except for the sodium and chemicals involved. Anyway, I finally bought this when a friend told me that her sister loves hers. I have been pleasantly surprised! The first few times you use it most of the kernels pop, which is very satisfying for some reason. If you don't use salt or oil you can re-use the concentrator many times, although I find that I don't get as many uses from it as the reviewers on another website seem to. I probably replace the concentrator after every 10 uses. I have used it daily for about four...
...

rose23986 says "Great healthy snack" about Orville Redenbacher gormet hot air popper

The Orville Redenbacher Gormet Hot Air Popper makes a fast healthy snack with little mess and cleanup. It is very economical as well. It costs much less to buy a container of kernels than it does to buy individual microwave bags. Air popped popcorn alone has little flavor, but add a little i can't believe it's not butter spray and you are good to go! My only complaint is that the opening is too large and the popcorn and kernels start to fly out if you don't hold the container close enough.
...
