pickles64 says "Be afraid of this range !" about Frigidaire FEF352FWA

We bought this range less than 4 years ago - during the time I have been using it to cook for the 2 of us, two of the top element controls have had to be replaced, as they failed suddenly, going from the "simmer" setting to glowing red-hot, without warning. Last evening, I set the oven to preheat to 325 degrees - luckily I was doing dishes, when I noticed an extremely bright light coming from the oven door window - when I investigated, there appeared to be bubbles all along the heating element, and it was glowing white and red. I shut the oven off - thank God the controls worked ! - and the element broke, collapsed onto the oven floor and fused to the bottom of the oven.

We have contacted Frigidaire, not really sure what the company can do with our claim yet - they asked us to have a service man come out, and call them while he was here - but I feel this is a dangerously defective model. Here is a shot of the damage - the white marks occurred while the element was burning - probably...
...

kkmays says "Beautiful and functional." about Kenmore Gas Range 78769

This Kenmore gas range is beautiful (you can get it in white or black), it has every function that you could ever need (as long as you are not a gourmet chef) and it is very easy to clean. I got mine a few months ago when we bought our new house (I got the white one) and it still looks like it did the day we brought it home. I love to cook and I have used this stove 2 or 3 times a day nearly every day to cook for my family. There is plenty of room on the cooktop to use all 4 burners at once. I have not had to clean the oven with oven cleaner at all because it is easy to wipe clean without it. I love the fact that it has the built in clock and timer and beeps loud enough for you to be able to hear it in the other room. It also will beep once the oven gets to the temperature that you set it for to let you know that it is heated to the appropriate temperature. It also has a very nice broiler. I would highly recommend this range.
...

I wanted gas but the reviews for the Frigidare Range changed my mind and I am happy with the product. The cooktop heats up quickly and has been easy to keep clean. The oven also heats quickly and seems to cook faster even without the use of the convection unit. I have not had to use the self-cleaning feature yet, but plan to this weekend - I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I love the middle rack that automatically comes out when you open the door - what a great feature that saves me from burnign my hands! The middle rack also offers a feature where half the rack comes off so you can cook tall dishes on the bottom rack and still have full use of the top rack and both halves of the bottm and middle racks. It sure offers plenty of space for cooking for large meals.
...

rjwysong1954 says "Kenmore 30 inch electric range - great!!!" about Kenmore Range - Electric

I got my new Kenmore 30 inch range in late April 2009 and I absolutely love it. The delivery was right on time and they had some difficulty getting it to fit into the spot alloted by the builder but with some ingenuity on the delivery man's part it was a perfect fit. It fits snuggly in the alloted space. The only problem I have had is with the reflector/drip pans becoming discolored so quickly but that's no big deal for me. The stove top heats quickly and evenly. The oven temperature is totally accurate. It takes about 15 minutes to preheat. I love that the oven is digital so some of the newer recipes calling for 360 degree ovens are easily accommodated with this stove. I've never ever used the warming drawer on any range I've had - never think about them. I like that there are several options for the oven rack adjustment not just one. Overall I just love it and would highly recommend it to others.
...

Bought this electric range on the 16th of September, got it home and the paint was rubbed off on top of drawer at bottom of oven and there was black adhesive from glueing down the glass top all over the white surfaces of the oven top. Have cooked on it twice, turned it on today (the 21st of September-5 days later) and now the front left burner went out. The burner doesn't come on at all, but the hot cooktop light stays on all the time. This is one of the worst products I've purchased in a long time. Can't believe they couldn't build something that would last one week! Can't wait to see what the GE Cares hotline says tomorrow. I wish I would've bought something else.
...

I really loved this Frigidaire ceramic top range until I discovered it was a fire hazard.!!!!! It has a white ceramic top that looks nice and is very easy to clean with cleaner. I love the 4 dual elements for using all sizes of pans, however it would be nice if they were staggered to allow more space for more than two large pans and two small pans all at one time. I am not crazy about the convection and don't use it much. I don't really like the double oven. It is more like a warmer than anything. I tried baking in the bottom oven once and it didn't do well at all. Took longer than in a regular oven and didn't bake evenly. I use it like a drawer now. I just found out after 4 incidences and going to the Frigidaire website that it is on voluntary recall. The elements have turned on by themselves twice now. Once after a storm when the power went out (the knobs were in off position) and once while I was cleaning it and the knobs weren't even on the control panel. I had taken them off to...
...

We brought the thermador range model (pg304bs/01) in Oct 2004 from Gems Applance rt 10 w , Whippany New Jersey . It was installed in November 2004. The oven has been broken more times than it has worked . Thermador has given us the run around from the day go . The screw on the botton of the oven would work there way out time after time. Thermador solution was to put in a bigger screw . and it still worked it way out. and the oven would ping and make all kinds of diffrent sounds the broiler came broken .

Thermador has replace one part after the other, the broiler the oven box ,electrical boards blowers the fans the ingitner and a new oven door .Just about everthing has been replace at one time . Thermador has stoped making this model but did they tell us that, no way . The oven door fell off due to the screw falling out after they were put on 3x by a repair man Thermador sent to our home. .It...
...

mrsbeano says "Very nice stove but the top can be hard to clean." about GE Electric Kitchen Range, Model JBS55

I do enjoy my new GE Electric Range. It is much easier to clean than the standard electric ranges with the burners. My burners would always burn out and food would drop down the crevice. But this new ceramic top is so much nicer. This is a very nice and modern looking range at a very moderate price. I chose the white color to match my refrigerator and it looks awesome. The range has a ceramic top with 4 radiant burners, 2 large ones and 2 small ones. The oven is large with plenty of room to cook a Thanksgiving turkey or multiple dishes. Under the oven is a pull out drawer where you can store pots, pans or other items.

I like the hot burner surface feature also. The red light stays on until the range has cooled. I just wish the surface was a bit easier to clean. The top does not look new anymore. But other than that I would recommend this range to anyone. I enjoy mine very much.
...

This GE Dual Fuel arrived almost dead. The control panel mostly didn't work, and after 2 days did not work at all. That eliminates my ability to use most of the functions of the stove. The stove top is still available to me, but it is barely working. Two of the burners are unusable and the others are not working properly. I have to wait 2 1/2 weeks before Sears can come out to fix it. When they get here, I'm sending it back. I do not want a stove that has such bad quality control in the factory. Consumer Reports was wrong. I am back to researching what stove to buy next.
...

Danvilleman says "electrolux icon, poor quality construction for the money" about Electrolux E30GF74HPS1

Electrolux Icon series range is poorly made. If you can believe, I went thru 3 in less than a year and over half a dozen service calls. The first one didn't have the easy glide racks. They were so hard to pull out once heated that food fell off the back of the rack. Brackets were replaced twice, nothing worked. 3 Service calls.

The second one, the convection oven didn't work. Upon inspecting it further, the repairman said it was very poor made inside and recommended it be returned. It appeared to have been almost dropped, though it didn't exhibit any signs on the exterior. 1 Service call

The third, the sensor for when it reaches its desired temperature doesn't work and the door to the range doesn't sit straight. After they attempted to replace hinges, and still couldn't get it to look straight, they were going to replace it again. 2 Service calls.

They offered a 4th range, but said FORGET IT.

All this took a YEAR, and I finally gave up. Moving on to a better manufacturer. ...
...

I got the Kenmore Range. Before I had a double oven and a range which you can take out the different burners and put in new burners. Did not like that wanted a Range with the burners on the top of the oven. I received this Kenmore Range and it goes so nice with my new kitchen. I love it. The only thing that I find is a problem is that it sometimes it hard to clean until I went to the store to get top cleaner and now it is always stay clean. The burners heat up fast and it lets me know when the burners are still hot after I am done cooking. The light stays on and then when the burners cool down then the light goes off. The oven heats up fast it lets me know when the oven it hot by making a beeping sound so I know when I can put my meal in. The oven is very easy to clean and take care of. I would recommend this Kenmore Range for anyone who loves to cook and wants a very stylish kitchen
...

GE Range - Gas on Glass Slide-in white PGS968TEMWW

I am so disappointed with the range and feel stuck with a poorly designed and dangerous product.

The cook-top was described as 1 piece glass, easy to clean. In fact it is 2 pieces with impossible to clean crevices.

The surface becomes dangerously hot after only few minutes of use.

The unit releases so much hot air that it is uncomfortable to stand by when in use and literally heats my entire house.

The surface and vent are not easy to clean. They must be allowed to cool and the debris hardens.

The broiler spews an unbelievable amount of grease over the top of the range. (As yet I have only used it for 15 mins. I would not dare roast a turkey)

Last, but certainly not least, while cleaning the glass cook-top last night my finger was slashed on the hidden, sharp bottom edge of the round burner cover.

All of these things are not anything I could possibly know before use.

dartanian says "Quality control is wanting and the cooktop is not durable!" about GE Electric Kitchen Range, Model JBS55

This GE JBS55 is nicely styled and a relative bargain but it takes more than a pretty face and a decent price when it comes to quality control, durability and standing up to the task at hand.

The first one delivered by Lowes had unacceptable cosmetic scalloping in the metal on the top rolled edge. It was covered with lots of white finish but you can't hide poor craftsmanship and weak quality control with paint. The second one was better but still not as good as it should be, so whomever is responsible for letting these pass like this either is looking the other way or has orders from the top that say something like, 'Hey, it's good enough, no one will notice."

That aside, the real troubling issue with this appliance is the ceramic cooktop. The very first time I used one of the burners the finish stuck to the enamel bottomed pan and actually chipped off - just one week after my brand new range had arrived! This is also unacceptable since the owners manual makes no reference to this...
...

ScottRichter says "Read the Viking reviews on consumeraffairs . com" about Viking VGIC366-6B Stainless Steel Gas Range

I've replaced My stove's glo igniters (twice), both gas burners (rusting between holes), both tubes leading from shut off regulator (rusted hole), Spot welds holding the heat shield against oven floor failed, dropping shield onto burners (now held on with wire), Cracked interior door glass (not broken through contact! not replaced) and now being told that the door hinges need replacing because the oven door does not fully close, heating the bottom of the stove's knobs and causing burns. This repair will cost an additional $295, bringing my total to $1100 just for the oven. Viking informs me that these are the same hindges that came with the stove with no improved upgrade. I do offer Viking, however, a big compliment on the quality of the oven's shelving racks. They have remained perfectly flat and the chrome plating looks as good as when I purchased the stove over a decade ago. As you can see, I'm not a satisfied customer... and for good reason. Poor, poor quality and manufacture's support....
...

JovialCougar says "Don't get hot and bothered. Get a Hot Point range." about Hotpoint Range Model# RB757

When I saw my apartment had some new Hot Point appliances I was not too thrilled at first. I always thought this brand was decidedly low-end, no frills, and probably unreliable. It turns out I was wrong since my Hot Point electric range has worked perfectly fine for more than a year.

This is a Hot Point Model #RB757 electric range. It can stand alone, or like mine, be slid in between countertops. Mine is black, which looks nice when clean but easily shows all drips, spills, and dust. At least it matches the rest of the kitchen.

The stove part has four coil burners of various sizes. The control buttons are on a panel that sticks toward the back. In general the burners work fine, although they are a bit slow in heating up. A red light comes on when any of the burners is turned on, which is very helpful.

The oven is self-cleaning and offers 5 cubic feet of space and two adjustable racks. Like the stove, it is a bit slow to heat-up. The temperature is controlled with a series of up/down...
...

claudia21 says "I love my Electrolux 30" Gas Freestanding Range with Wave-Touch " about Electrolux 30" Gas Freestanding Range with Wave-Touch Controls (EW30EF65GS)

I love this range - Electrolux 30" Gas Freestanding Range with Wave-Touch Controls . It is a little pricey but it worth every penny. I love to cook and even I have it for few months did not get the chance to use all the functions - it has bake, broil, convection, turkey mode, bake from top, from bottom, keep warm, etc. It lloks really nice and The wave touch controls are awesome and so intuitive - you don't need to read the manual if you don't want to.

It is also very practical because it has 2 ovens ( I always wanted 2 but did not have room to get 2). You can make cookies in one and roast something in the other one.

Knb4evr95 says "I love this range!" about Tappan TGF351ES (Gas) Range

Although I'm not a gourmet cook like my sister, I would have to say my gas range has gotten me through many a successful dinner! It also is very easy to clean and looks pretty good after 9 years of regular use! The burners come all apart and you can srub them really well and let them soak in the sink. (I like to use S.O.S. pads on them) The oven self cleans and heats evenly and thoroughly. The electronic controls are a bit confusing, but you get the hang of them pretty quickly. I don't know if Tappan is a popular brand, I'm not too familiar with it, but it has proven it's worth to me.
...
