My PGM365 has had numerous gas explosions. No Dacor service technician would look at it because of liability concerns and Dacor would not do anything to help repair it. Every service company that I spoke with to book an appointment stated that it is a flawed and dangerous product and that it can't be fixed. One stated that that cooktop would burn down my house if I kept it. I replaced it with a GE cooktop which has worked flawlessly. I wrote to Dacor about this problem and they never called or wrote back.
...

sissfrancis says "It's Been Nothing But A Headache" about GE Builtin Cooktop Model JP626

I had a GE built-in cooktop that I'd used for over 30 years, and I'd found it very serviceable. The burners started to short out, and I decided that I should have something newer and more up-to-date. I wish I'd stuck with the one that looked out-of-date and gone on having the burner wiring patched. I had GE service it three times and finally gave up. It was a headache to make service appointments and then find that the promised help did not appear. I wasted a lot of time from work waiting for the "no-shows." When I nagged until they did appear, the repair would only last a short period of time. It is a very pretty stove, but it has only one burner than works at present. The top is easy to clean, and the drip pans under the burners lift out easily for cleaning. Putting them back after cleaning is not nearly as easy as they have to be plugged back into sockets. They method of improving and reinstalling them is just too difficult. I will have to replace it, and the new...
...

I absolutely love my Kitchen Aide stove top. My old stove top had open-coil elements and was a pain to keep clean but my Kitchen Aide is a breeze to clean. If I spill something on it all I have to do is wipe it clean with a little bit of baking soda and presto - it is clean! Even cleaning the knobs are easy. The dual-size surface units are also definitely a plus. I only use the amount of heat that I need. Another plus is the hot surface indicator light. When I see the red light I know that the surface is too hot to touch yet. I would definitely buy another Kitchen Aide appliance!
...

notfornothing58 says "Makes My Life Easier" about Maytag oven and stove.

We have a white Maytag stove that is very easy to operate and just as easy to clean. I have never owned a stove that clean up is this easy. It's self cleaning and after you pull the lever you just relax and it cleans itself in about an hour like most stoves do. This one, however, leaves little residue to clean up afterwards. I take a sponge and wipe it down a couple of times and in minutes it's sparkling. My stoves in the past had to be re-cleaned because everything didn't come off of them and then when it came time to wiping it down there was particle's all over the place. With this stove everything is done just once and the final result is amazing. the only thing I have a problem with is that the outside of the stove scratches very easily. When cleaning the burner areas the paint will scratch very easily so I have to be extra careful with that regard. But, other than that I would highly recommend!
...

AdventureQueen says "It boils, broils and bakes; must be a Whirlpool electric range!" about Whirlpool WFE301LVS Electric Range

The eco-friendly Schott Ceran CleanTop ceramic glass cook top cooking system on this electric range excited me, until I used it. There are two six inch burners and two six/eight inch burners with two dials so you can choose to use it to heat as a six or eight inch burner (this feature works well and is my favorite). In theory, the smooth top is supposed to be designed for easy cleanup; however I discovered I must use special cleaners or pads to cleanse it. The top has not gotten scratched, yet it gets pan smudges which are time consuming to buff out, and this frustrates me. The oven has a 4.8 cubic foot capacity and two adjustable oven racks; plenty of room for baking (I enjoy this), and an extra-large window so I can do a quick peek without opening the door (and there is an oven light I can turn on). It does not seem to keep an accurate temperature though (I have not had the thermostat looked at by a repair person).
...

VR says "disapointing, uneven cooking temps, difficult to keep clean look" about GE Profile

we purchased the electric GE profile Cooktop to replace our propane one that came with our brand new house. The propane one did not get hot enough for us and took far too long to heat up a simple large pot of water. we did this when we also did some minor upgrades to our "builders" kitchen like adding granite countertops, molding on the cabinets, new knobs on the cabinet doors and adding in a wet bar. We also replaced both sinks and all the hadware. The point of the new cooktop was to make the upgrade all on par. Unfortunately, the expectation of the stove did not meet ours.

the heat is uneven, takes forever at times to heat large pots of water or soup for instance, and if you dare spill, which of course in a big busy family does happen all the time, you must wait for the surface to completly cool down before you can clean it properly. Also, we now have a slight crack in one of the burners that appeared mysteriously.

Overall, no one in our home is happy with this major appliance...
...

The Whirlpool flat top cook top is excellent. We went from and circa nineteen sixties pink coil type cook top to this and wow what a difference. Our old one was quite a sight. THis one is nice. It looks really good. The cook top is white, solid white not the speckled type, which is something to specifically mention when shopping because what the stores call white is actually black with white speckles. You have to specifically ask for solid white - white. The cook top heat quickly for an electric cook top. The burner are easy to clean if you do it right. We use barkeeper's friend brand cleaner which is specifically for glass cook tops. Comet and other types will scratch the glass. If you keep on top of cleaning it, it is easy to do. Our kids often clean it. It does not scratch very easily, however we do have two small scratches on ours. We opted for the variable burners where you can chose large or small on the same burner - its a nice feature.
...

The Kenmore stoves are great looking stoves. They are modern and nice to look at. They are also very easy to clean, but the ovens go out in a year or less. I know others who own the same Kenmore stoves. We all agree! These stoves are good looking and easy to deal with. They just don't last very long. We were all left ovenless after a year or so using Kenmore's nice to look at stoves. One more good thing about these stoves are the top last!! So if you don't bake or use the oven much these are great stoves to use!!
...

Hi, I am writing to you about the stoves that are coming out in this world. There are electrical stoves and the gas stoves. I like the gas stoves because I can see what I am doing. I do not like the electrical ones because you cannot see the temperature adjustment of the stove and what to do with the adjustment. The gas stoves are nice. You can adjust the temperature of the stove and at any length and you can enjoy your food cooking and looking at the temperature. I like that of the stoves. Because of the value that the gas stoves brings I can cook better and be a better mom unto my children. I do not think the manufacturers understand the way the stove should be made anyway for cooking with the God. I like the way things should be done by the God. The electrical stoves shows and light upon it and I even hurt myself real bad one day. But anyway I had a good time with it somewhat getting ready to eat and all but no knowin what the temperature is. Amen.
...

sailspinner says "The flat top cook surface is wonderful" about GE BP65G

I've been cooking for more than sixty years. The self-cleaning oven on this GE range is a pleasant, labor saving device that eliminates a very unpleasant task. The best feature, however, of this range is the flat surface cook top. I'd seen them advertised but, skeptic that I am, I didn't believe all the raves - that is, until I tried it. The units heat quickly and the light that warns of a hot unit stays lit until the unit is cool to touch. Spill clean up quickly and easily - no more scouring yucky drip pans or searching for the right size replacement when a drip pan rusts out. The flat surface is a safe and level place to rest hot pans from the oven without concern about tipping and spilling hot liquid all over the stove or floor. Yes, the oven bakes well and temperatures are on target. The oven is roomy - large enough on one shelf for two cookie sheets at a time. All in all, I like this range better than any I've used in all my years of cooking.
...

dadofgandg says "Expensive, but a nice oven" about Jenn-Air Jenn-Air Electric Smoothtop Downdraft Slide In Range

I needed a downdraft range and Jenn-Air has one of the few models on the market. I altered the cabinet to fit and hired an electrician to add a 220 outlet to the inside of the cabinet and put a pigtail on the stove so that the range could be easily moved if I redo the cabinets. My only two complaint is that attaching the vent pipe to the vent outlet (for side venting) was awkward and difficult. It was a somewhat challenging project but well worth it because, even after a year, I still often tell my husband how much I enjoy cooking on it. Also, the knobs that work the burners are flimsy. After a year, we had one break off and found that the top part was only held on with two tiny dabs of glue. We wonder how long till the other three knobs break! We were able to find a replacement part at a local stove dealer, but they are pricey! Fast heating, convection for speed and evenness of temperature, easy clean, it's all good.
...

nettiemae says "Hotpoint stove. Easy to use & clean. looks brand new (10 y/o)" about Hot Point cook top stove

I bought my Hotpoint ceramic cooktop about 10 years ago. It has a self cleaning oven. Now I don't have to worry about using harsh chemicals to clean my oven.

The cooktop is the easiest there is to clean. Mine has the "speckeld" top. Foods don't stick to it as easy as other cooktops. And after you clean it, it never looks greasy as some do.

When I say it's the easiest to clean, I mean no matter what you may spill or boil over onto the burners, they always come clean as new. You just use the liquid ceramic cleaner that comes with your stove or use a fine powdered cleaner called "barkeepers Friend" The class top sparkles like new.

The burners are instantly red when you turn them on, so your pans start heating right away. Also a nice feature is the heat indicator lights that are on when you're done & turn the burners off. The indicator lights stay on so you know there is surface heat, and won't inadvertantly set your hand or something on the burner.

Debj1951 says "I Like this stove" about Premier Electric Stove

Having used a gas range for most of my life, I moved into an apartment that has a Premier electric stove. I thought it would take a lot of burned dinners before I could get used to the change of cooking with the electric stove.

I have had no problems making the adjustment from a gas stove to electric, and with no burned dinners. The stove s easy to clean, with the removeable burners & drip pans beneath are easy to remove & clean. Also, the top of the stove lifts up making it easy to clean any spills or 'boil overs'.

If I had known that cooking on electric was this easy, I would have switched from gas to electric a long time ago.

I feel it is an energy saver as well, because I can turn the burner off when the food is nearly completed cooking & just let it set on the burner & the remaining heat will finish the cooking process.

The stove top itself is easy to clean, usually with just hot soapy water or if it is a stubborn spill over, a bit of Soft Scrub will do the trick.
...

I absolutely love my george forman grill. From cooking chicken to sandwiches, it does it all. I love that it cooks off a sigificant amount of fat and that it saves time in the kitchen. I have used my grill to cook for myself up to a group of 8. By simply adding water after the food has been cooking for a few minutes, I created a steam grill which has worked amazing for fish. Hamburgers taste moist and juicy rather than dried out or covered in grease as often my experience with pan frying. This is also great for grilling vegetables. There is no temperature control on my older model, but I have learned the timing. Mine includes the bun warmer at the top. This has bee great for hotdog buns as well as heating slices of bread to make garlic bread for a small number of people. The one downside is cleaning the grill. I have learned tricks to clean it, but that is the one thing I dislike about the george forman grill.
...

premose says "My glass cooktop has lightened my load." about GE 49-80413-1

After cleaning gas and electric stovetops for 30 plus years, I was tired of scraping and scrubbing metal and enamel surfaces. I bought a GE Radiant Surface Glass Cooktop and my nail polish now stays intact - until I have to clean my oven. A quick wipe of the surface removes grease and grime like magic. My stove shines like new every day and makes me look good even though I"m less than fastidious about my housekeeping. Since I love a bargain, I'm winning two ways. I save money on scouring pads and, perhaps more importantly, I recapture the time I used to spend cleaning. In addition, my cooktop has a wonderful variety of heating options from warm to scorching hot. It also has circles of heat for small to large cooking utensils. The selector knobs are easy to view, since they are...
...

chuleta says "My Maytag Gemini Gas Range is a dream" about Maytag GEMINI

When my last gas range stopped working I went shopping for a new one with some specific nedds in mind. I had a price range and was limited to a gas range, which I prefer anyway.

I found the Maytag Gemini 5 Burner Gas Range at a discounted price. I was overjoyed at my good luck. I knew Maytag as a trusted name brand. This range met all my needs and more.

The 5 burner top was new to me. And the double oven feature sold me!

The advantages of having the double oven outweighed the minimized space between the burners.

You learn to adapt to the 5 burners. The luxury of having the double oven feature in the Maytag Gemini is worth it. I can turn on the upper oven alone if neeing to bake only one pizza. And then I can turn on the lower oven if I need to bake three at a time!!

It is easy to clean and the closed burners are a blessing. No mess to clean up underneath the range top.

You would be very pleased with this Maytag Gemini Gas Range if you are lucky enough to get one!
...
