We have a family of 6 and were much in need of an upright freezer. We shopped around at Sears, Lowes, HH Gregg, Best Buy and Menards. We found the best price at Lowes. The freezer we picked was a Frigidaire Upright Frost Free Freezer. It was the largest you could buy at over 20 cubic feet. It has 2 pull out drawers and shelves in the door. I felt it was important to have a frost free freezer since I am a busy mom who does not have the time to defrost a freezer. I also felt it was important to me to have an upright freezer. I have a small chest freezer and find that it is very difficult to find frozen items when they are all piled on top of each other. Another feature I like about this Frigidaire is that is has an electric panel on the front that displays the temperature inside the freezer. If the door is left open for even a short period of time and the temperature inside the freezer begins to rise, the freezer sounds an alarm. I have recommended this product to a...
...

dthoe5 says "The best little freezer for small spaces." about Kenmore Chest Freezer

After doing much research on chest freezers, the Sears Kenmore 7.2 cu.ft. is outstanding. Many other brands did not come close to the Kenmore. The added feature of having a lock on the lid is very appealing and is a big help to keep children out of it. That is a big plus for a safety feature. Sears Kenmore speaks for itself. Kenmore brands has the reputation of being a very sturdy appliance in many ways. The freezer holds up to 225 lbs. of meat. That will last us the winter. It seems small until you see just how much you can store in it. Another great feature is the purchasing of the extended three year warranty. It not only will cover parts and labor, but a bonus is if the freezer malfunctions and you should lose your food the warranty will pay up to $250 to replenish what you may have lost. My husband and I went to many different stores and Sears had the best deal for this freezer. Some others that were comparible did not have such a good warranty and they were as much as $30 higher....
...

KaciOhio says "HOLIDAY 7.0 Cu.Ft. Chest Freezer is more than enough for us. " about HOLIDAY Chest Freezer LCM070LC

In February of this year (2009) we purchased this Holiday Chest Freezer Model Number LCM070LC for $140.00 at Appliance Smart. These usually run about $150-190.00 so when we seen this one for a cheaper price we grabbed it. Its white and tall about 33 inches high not very wide 37 inches and about 22 inches deep. It has a handy basket on the top of the inside for easy access to smaller things, vegetables, small packages of meat..etc. Its deep to me, I have to stand on my tippy toes just to reach the bottom. Every month it defrosts itself but never thaws my food out, Ive noticed a tiny bit of frost on the inside but nothing major. It has never freezerburnt my food, it works properly as it should. I can go to the grocery store and fill up a cart full of frozen stuff and bring it home and put it in the deep freeze and I still have room for all kinds of stuff. It's the perfect size.
Some features about this freezer: Space saving flat back design, Convenient adjustable thermostat, Removable basket,...
...

I bought my Haier chest freezer a little less than a year ago. I think it was one of the best investments that I've made for my kitchen. It is just the right size for my family of three. My refrigerator is small and doesn't have near enough freezer space so buying the Haier chest freezer was the best option for us. It was a lot less expensive than getting a different refrigerator. It really saves us a lot of money each month because we can buy in bulk, re-wrap the food and freeze it for later. I like the basket for storing bags of vegetables and very small items that can get lost easily such as individually wrapped corn dogs, burritos and freeze pops. It is very easy to clean inside and out and it even comes with a small plastic scraper to keep the ice off of the seal area. Another good thing about it is that it is not very heavy so when I want to move it to clean under it, I don't have to get my husband to do it for me.
...

The Kenmore Chest Freezer is a wonderful freezer. I used to have a oversized older model freezer and was seeking to find something newer and more modern. It fits conviently in the corner of my dining room. I can easily find anything ive placed in there as well. I use this daily! A great thing about having a chest freezer is you can make bigger batches of your dinner and store them for a later date. You can also buy bulk amounts of meat and store them which saves you money! The freezer is a good purchase for anyone who has a large family or just someone who loves to cook at home! Here's a great hint for moms who have newborns, Its great to store that extra breastmilk that you cannot fit into your normal fridge! Keeps everything frozen until im ready to use it! I hope you enjoy it!
...

As a busy, working mother, I am always looking for a deal on clothing, shoes, food, etc. Our family has a glutten and dairy intolerance, so...this makes a deal even MORE important. Our diet is extrememly expensive, so if I can purchase items in bulk...it helps us save money. This freezer allows us me to purchase different food items such as: gluten free waffles, different types of seafood, meats, poultry, vegetables, and foods I've made and frozen. I like to make much more than we need and freeze the rest. This helps when I'm too busy to cook. I can just look in my upstairs refridgerator/freezer, pull out what I want to reheat and pop it in the microwave. Since I can keep all the meats, poultry, and vegetables downstairs, this leaves all the room I need for my entrees. I also like the fact that the freezer is frost free. I don't have to worry about defrosting it. I remember the dryers in the past would cake up with lots of ice that you would have to defrost with a hand...
...

Just bought the Frigidaire 14.8 cubic feet chest freezer model FFN15M5H chest freezer at a great price of $318 plus tax ( 20% off sale at Lowes). My old freezer over 20 cubic feet could no longer hold the low temperature needed to keep my frozen food at the right temperature. This is a nice little freezer that is energy star qualified. It has 4 plastic baskets on 2 levels. It is evident that the freezer walls are thick compared to the freezer that I had. It has a run light on the center handle to let you know that it is on. Just plugged it in and in 6 hours the temperature was down to - 5. It also has a temperature control so you can turn it down even more. After a day or so I needed to turn it down a little to keep the temperature at zero. So far so good.
...

Kenmore Elite Energy Star Chest Freezer

I enjoy cooking and eating at home the majority of the time. I live 30 minutes from a grocery store so in order to routinely crank out homemade meals, I have to be organized and I have to a lot of food in the freezer.

What is close by to our house are farms that offer organic, grass feed beef, chicken and turkey. When we make a "farm run", we stock up on meats for about six months at a time. We also use the freezer to store homegrown vegetables like okra, tomatoes and peppers. When the weeding, watering and harvesting is all done, it's time for vegetable soup and chilli and what seemed like overkill in the summer is a welcome blessing from the freezer. (Unfortunately I have yet to freeze any homegrown corn but the deer assure me that my corn is quite tasty but should be eaten on the spot and not frozen for later.)

I bought a Frigidaire upright freezer. Less than 1 month later, it stopped working. The repair guy couldn't come out for a week. Naturally all my food was spoiled. He told me it had been repaired several months prior (I bought this as being brand new)! The store would not take it back. The repairman said he had to order a part. He never came back. Never returned calls either. Contacted Frigidaire, and they couldn't care less about me freezer no longer working or the food that was all ruined. No restitution was ever made. They DID offer a settlement for my loss. Are you ready??? They offered to send me a check for $1.00. That's right, one dollar! We had it picked up and hauled to the dump. That cost me money too. This was a very expensive lesson. You could give me a household of their appliances free, and I wouldn't atake a single one!
...

We finally purchased an upright freezer this summer. We decided to go with the Sears Kenmore Upright freezer 13.7 cu. ft. I absolutely love it! I have 4 growing boys and the extra room to store meat, breads, and frozen treats when they go on sale at the supermarket has helped us to save a TON of money! I also liked the idea of being able to see everything inside the freezer once the door is opened and not having to dig through layers of food to see what is inside. The Kenmore freezer runs very quietly. It also has a temperature read on the outside so you don't have to wonder if it is working properly. It also has an alarm if the power goes off or the door is ajar. It also came with a key so we can keep it locked so that our four year old doesn't keep getting in and out of it. I would recommend this product for anybody with a large growing family. We have purchased several Kenmore products from Sears and have been very happy with all of them. If you are in the market...
...

June 26, 2009

My wife and I have had this freezer less than two weeks and now desire to return it. The freezer functioned fine for several days. I loaded the freezer on Father's Day (June 21) with a large shopping supply of fish, pork loin, nuts and frozen fruit from Costco. I checked the food late that night and all food was frozen and appeared normal.

I did not open the freezer again until noon today (June 26) when I returned from another shopping trip.

When I approached the freezer, I detected a strong foul odor and discovered that the freezer was warm inside. The interior was filled with dripping debris from packages that had thawed and putrefied including jumbo shrimp, wild sock-eye salmon, mahi-mahi, corbina sea bass, pork loin, pecans, frozen berries and cans of orange juice concentrate which had exploded.

The Whirlpool upright freezer has plenty of storge on the door for cans and small items which is handy when freezing fresh fruits as you can package them in single use sizes. The shelves are well spaced and wide. This makes it easy to stack meat packages and keep each cut together. It also allows for the storage of large packages of garden produce. The basket will hold a number of odd shaped items so they do not have to take up shelf space. This freezer freezes rapidly making it a pleasure to freeze fresh garden produce. Its exterior dimensions make it easy to fit in the kitchen or a large pantry.
...

It has an alarm on it if it ever stops working for any reason. This is my first freezer and I like it very well. There is storage baskets that pull out on the door and 4 shelves and 2 huge pullout baskets inside the freezer. Nice space to hold a years worth of garden produce. It has lots of space, so you can separate all your different varietys of food. Whirlpool freezers are very spacious and nice looking.
...

This is a space saving freezer that holds more than you would expect. We almost bought the larger one but, we're glad we went with this one because we have more than enough space. It was on sale when we bought it at a little over a hundred and I am sure we have saved at least that amount with the food we have saved from spoiling. We have had it for over a year and we haven't had to defrost yet which is great because I thought we would have to defrost at LEAST once a year. I love that it had a lock and for my husband's birthday I bought him an ice cream cake and locked it in the freezer so he wouldn't peek. What a great feature! When we host parties we keep extra ice in it to make sure we don't run out and it doesn't take up space and clutter the refrigerator freezer....

We got the GE chest freezer a couple years ago and it fits nicely into our laundry room. There is adequate storage, and we've never had any issues with it. I usually keep it pretty full of foods that I get at a great price and stockpile. It's always kept everything nicely frozen, so we've been pretty satisfied. I would definitely recommed it to others. I think it's great to have a freezer to keep things in that won't fit in the regular freezer and for all the extra stuff I get on sale. ...

tinkerbell-momma says "Wonderful freezer, planety of space, enegery efficent" about GE Chest Freezer

This GE Deep Freeze is great. I have used one for about 6 months now. It has plenty of space to keep food for a 5 person family. Is also energy efficent. I keep anywhere from 10 to 75 pounds of meet in this, my husband got a deer this year during hunting season, i was able to fit all of the meet in the freezer with no problems. I have not lost anything due to being freezer burnt. Over all I would say this is a great thing to spend a little extra money on. Hit the meat sales and buy things and keep them in the freezer, you will save money in the end doing it this way. I have saved a bundle....
