JKD says "Quiet and clean" about KitchenAid Whisper Quiet Dishwasher

We bought this dishwasher during a kitchen remodel last year. It was the one appliance my husband really wanted and the one that he picked out. He got it completedly right.

Our old dishwasher was noisy and required a lot of presoaking and prewashing - not this one. We pop plates, cups and pots and pans from the table and stove right on in, and they are taken care of.

One of my favorite features is that the dishwasher senses how much water is needed for the load, and then it adjusts accordingly so as to not waste water. It also like that the top racks is adjustable. You can change the height as needed. The wine stem holders on the top rack are also a handy feature.

There is a removeable silverware basket on the bottom. I do wish the manufacturer had thought to make the first basket, the one for odds and end items, a slightly larger size. Once I've fit a couple large serving items or sippy cup tops in there, it's out of room.
...

My husband and I purchased this dishwasher 5 years ago. We trusted the brand and the price for it was fair. It was our first dishwasher so we didn't want to buy something that we didn't that was good quality. For the first two years, it worked like a charm. It was quite and cleaned very well. The only thing I didn't care for at that time, it was easy for the kids to just push a button and start it without me knowing. When you have small children, they tend to copy you and when you aren't looking... Anyway, after two years, it started to leak. My husband had it fixed and soon after, it started to leak again. He again had it fixed. Now, after any store warranties are expired, it is making an awful sound when in use. I am not sure what but it seems to be an extremely loud continuous buzz. It doesn't happen right away but when it does, it won't stop. The end result is, I am the new dishwasher because we cannot afford to get it fixed or to buy a new one. I am a bit...
...

inaun says "Much worse than our old washer" about Whirlpool Dishwasher - "Quiet Partner 2" Built-in

I wish I had read some review before buying this pice of junk! Whirlpool has done well in the past for us, so when we needed a new dishwasher we didn't hesitate to get the Quiet Partner II.

It is quieter than our old Maytag, but that is all I can say positive about it! Dishes often do not come out clean, especially if you put too much in ("too much" means not leaving lots of empty space). Soap is left on the glasses -- fill them up with water and we can see the bubbles floating on top! We have even tried different deteregents. Now we are in the habit of just rinsing out the "clean" glasses before using them.

Racks are basic at best, and do not accomodate any tall cookware (for example, there is no way to fit our pizza pan).

Utinsil basket needs rework -- badly placed (you have to be careful no to put anything too tall in the right side or it will block the soap door from opening). Little slots designed to keep silverware seperate are too small. What is worse, the thing...
...

halikias says "delay start feature does not work with these dishwashers" about Whirlpool Gold Quiet Partner III

i've had my gu2300xtv model for a month now.

everything was great for the first 2 weeks. i loved the ample size, the silverware in the door and the cleaning ability. it wasn't extremely quiet, but still acceptable.

suddenly, all my dishes had a white powdery film. the tech came out and told me how these units operate in order to maintain their energy star rating.

the internal heater does not kick in until the main wash. so, you have to run the tap water to the ideal temp before the unit starts. this is why the delayed timer is not useful unless you're willing to install a mini water heater at your sink. note - bosch units' heaters kick on immediately so i should have bought a bosh since this feature was extremely important to me.

fixing the problem was not a simple as it sounded. here are the steps i had to take to get rid of the film in the tub.

1. run washer magic through a cycle when the unit was empty

2. ditch my "green" phosphorus free detergent and buy cascade with dawn...
...

We purchased the single dish drawer for our new home build. This dishwasher holds full service for approximately 6 at one time (plates, saucers, glassware, flatware, and bowls), I run a wash cycle every two days or so and it has performed perfectly in the two and a half years we have had it. It has a removable screen to filter out any bits of food that are cleaned off the plates, which is easy to get to compared to a regular dishwasher. No bending over either. It also has a setting selection and can reduce the cycle to be eco-friendly. Its Energy Star rated too.
...

This KitchenAid dishwasher has a stainless steel tub with a potscrubber on the bottom rack in the back. I use liquid dishwasher soap or the small gel tabs and JET DRY and the dishes come out very clean and dry. Dishwasher comes in black, which matches my decor and white as well. It has many features and it runs pretty quiet. Top rack is adjustable meaning it can be lowered to accomodate larger pans. I have not used this feature, because my top rack usually fills up with cups, glasses, small bowls and dishes. Top rack has another feature that tilts the cups/glasses when placed in upside down. This way rinse water does not sit on top of glasses that have an indent on the bottoms. Also, we got a great deal on dishwasher at Lowes for 25%off plus no tax. MA usually has a NO Tax weekend, but it was voted NO this year. Lowes had their own sale and gave Lowe's customers an extra 6.25% off (no tax). Needless to say, we got a great deal and are very happy with dishwasher. ...
...

We're two guys that want to pretend momis still cleaning up after us, and fortunately this dishwasher does! I laughed when I saw the words 'quiet partner' on the front, because isn't isnt THAt quiet. I guess I've heard louder, but my Kenmore front loading washing machine is realllllly silent. I guess I was surprised to read any negative reviews because this machine was here when we moved in and has been great the whole time! I run an empty load every month or so with vinegar in it to descale....but only because my mom told me so. Maybe some other people would be happier if they did too!
...

We are renting a home in the Austin area. I thought the frigidaire dishwasher we have in the home was broken. If I put a coffee cup in with out rinsing it out it does not come clean. Looking at the website I came across a new owner of the dishwasher and her complaint was everything I had experienced. Having to use the pots and pans cycle to get the dishes somewhat clean. Not a good purchase.

The only pro to this product is that it is a little more quiet than most dishwashers. I would rather have the clean dishes.
...

I brought it without much research. I trusted the GE brand. I was wrong. GE was partially right in naming the product QuietPower3. A better name would have been DEADQuiet3. My dishwasher finally gave up the ghost yesterday. After 3 service calls within 1 and a 1/2 year. Problems I had were: (1) Top tray was difficult to push in. The service guy changed the rollers. It was a Band-Aid fix. (2) Control penal buttons don't work. The plastic inside was warped and buttons can't engage. And (3) the dishwasher is now completely DEAD. I am kind of glad, in that I don't have to deal with the GE anymore. I will be able to spend my hard earn money elsewhere. I hope you see this review before buying this piece of junk. I will be glad to know someone has benefited from my mistake.
...

I am a single person who doesn't cook much so this is perfect! I can fill it up about once a week and it really does a great job cleaning the dishes. I'll admit that I'm not one to rinse as I go and it even gets out stuck on stuff that has been sitting for a few days. Really, that is all you need in a dishwasher and so I'd highly recommend.

A few negative points though. The drain hose is extremely cheap (thin) and it developed a kink in it on the first wash cycle. This means that I have to pull the dishwasher further away from the faucet and stretch the hose for it to actually drain properly.

It does make some amount of noise, which I think any dishwasher would, but it should be considered.

The cycles are extremely long! The rapid one finishes up in 70 minutes, everything else lasts over two hours.

The dishes come out spotty. Now granted, it has a spot for Jet Dry that I haven't filled yet, but my old one never left spots even without the Jet Dry.

JWilson1 says "Does not clean dishes well, even as a brand new machine." about GE Dishwasher Quiet Power 3

The GE Quiet Power 3 was recently installed as a brand new unit in our home, and it has been the worst performing washer I have ever had. Even when sparingly filled, and with only mildly dirty dishes, it does not clean well at all. Consistently our items come out gritty with various food chunks stuck on them AND the interior of the washer. Not only that, but the heat-drying cycle bakes the grit on, so it is even MORE difficult to clean by hand after you take dishes out of the washer. To the unit's credit, it is relatively quiet until it starts to drain into the sink-drainage system, and then it makes an obscene sucking noise. That could just be because of our sink set-up though.

The bottom line is that this dishwasher is a poor performer and it is maddening to know that good money was spent on such a shoddy product. Pay attention to these reviews, it'll save you the anger and frustration.
...

My maytag dishwasher has been fixed over 8 times in 5 years. First the top rack will stop working and then the rest will follow. Even with a warranty that I purchased, it has been a pain. The final straw was when it took 4 service calls before it was fixed right and Service Net the company that I purchased the warranty through, called to say I was over the 800.00 limit for repairs on this dishwasher and refused to send another technician out to fix it right in the middle of waiting for a part to come in. Never again!
...

We are always looking for energy savers, as well as a good quality dishwasher for a reasonable price. When we started looking at the Bosch products, we were quite impressed with the fact that they were recommend by Consumer Report, and that they were supposed to use so much less energy, and were supposed to be extremely quiet. Our salesman pushed it's "green features and we also were swayed by the rebate to have it installed free. We looked at the Kitchenaide, and also Whirlpool, but finally went with the Bosch SHE4AM16UC. It was installed and it is very quiet. One thing you have to get used to with this washer, is there is no drying cycle, and you can NOT open the dishwasher anytime during, or it will not complete the cycle, nor will it dry your dishes. It dries them by forced air drying, and this is where they say they are saving you money. There is not a easy way to determine when your load is finished, as the lights stay on all the time, and you have to manually turn...
...

My husband and I purchased the Maytag Quiet Series 300 in 2003. I was replacing a 1980's Magic Chef unit that came with our house. That old Magic Chef was so powerful that it blew the etching off some of my glassware.

Within the first 2 years we had this unit, the soap dispenser door broke, the control panel was replaced and the door handle broke twice. Just recently, even after we were told the door handle was "improved" with metal reinforcements, it has broken again and so has the soap dispenser door.

I love the delay start this unit offers. It is convienient that we can run it at night when we are asleep. However, I do not feel that this unit cleans the dishes as well as I expected. It seems to not be able to remove small pieces of lettuce that may stick on a salad bowl or even a piece of shredded cheese. It just seems to melt the cheese to the container and dries the lettuce to the bowl.

The claissic stainless steel look is absolutely beautiful. With this product you need to make sure that you get any fingerprints or water marks removed because they tend to stay for some reason. i recommend using stainless steel cleaners because they dont leave any smudges or streaks. The controls are on the top of the door so you have to hit start everytime you open and close the door. I guess I was always used to the knob type dishwashers so this was a bit confusing at first.

I love this dishwasher! I searched high and low for one that would perform as well as my old portable one did. So many of the ones we looked at had great owner reviews, but they all talked more about looks than performance. A friend bought this one and fell in love with it. Knowing that we have similar standards, I bought this one too. It is wonderful! No more scrubbing my dishes prior to washing or finding odd bits of food residue left on my dishes. This dishwasher seems to literally BLAST the dishes clean.

The only downside to this, and it's not so extreme that it really bothers me but it might bother some people, is that it isn't the quietest dishwasher I've ever seen. It's not extremely loud like some, but if you're looking for total silence... this might not be for you.
...

We bought the Whirl pool quiet 3 dishwasher. The dishwasher is very quiet. The dishwasher cleans well and it disposes of food well. The dishwasher holds a lot of dishes. It has shelves that are height adjustable and the bottom shelf can flip its racks back and forth to fit big pots and pans or tray into it or flip regular to fit a lot of dishes. The problem we faced was that the motor went out after just two years which put it no longer under warranty. It was expensive to fix. The cost was two hundred dollars and that is just for the parts, we did the installation our selves so we did not pay any service fees or hourly charges. So quite and expensive repair. We have heard of two others going out the same way and having to be repaired. It does have some nice features like the santi rinse cycle which kills all the germs in super hot rinse cycle. The cups only cycle is nice because it is short.
...

AConcernedConsumer says "Kenmore The Appliances Built To Last Less Than 2 Years " about Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher

Less than 2 years ago we remodeled our kitchen, when it came to appliances I did not hesitate to go to Sears and purchase Kenmore. A name and product that I trusted, up until most recently. We purchsed the Elite Brand of Kenmore Stainless Steel Appliances, including a Side by Side Refrigerator/Freezer with builtin Water Filteration; a Stainless Steel Ultra Wash Quiet Guard Deluxe Dishwasher, Kenmore Elite Stainless Steel Microwave and almost a stove. My story began when they delivered the first of 5 five stoves, the bottom drawer of the warming oven would not close properly and they all came with scratches and dents, but they were only on the sides. It actually began to be somewhat commical, even the delivery guys began to say this one isn't right either. After 5 attempts, we cancelled the stove. This should have shook my confidence in the Kenmore name, but I paid no mind, I loved my Kenmore appliances, even though my stove ended up a Professional Series Frigidaire, as Sears could not find...
...

mommio98 says "Don't waste your money!" about Hotpoint Dishwasher

I live in an apartment complex and received a brand new hotpoint dishwasher since the last dishwasher I had kept leaking. Anyway, I figured since it was brand new, it would be better than my old one- so not the case! The hotpoint dishwasher is small, noisy, takes long to complete cycles and does not get the dishes cleaned well. It also takes me twice the time to do the dishes because it does not fit that many in it. The top rack which is usually for cups/glasses, does not hold the cups in well. It has only little humps to place the cups on- which makes the cups fall over and obviously they don't get cleaned well then. The only thing good about it is the color which is an eggshell color. That goes well with the rest of my apppliances. I have had to rewash the dishes again and again. I finally stopped using this dishwasher and started hand washing the dishes. My advice- Don't Waste your money on this product! It is so not worth it! It says it is energy efficient but not if it does not get...
...

Darkwytch says "Great performance at an affordable price." about Admiral dishwasher

This Admiral dishwasher has settings for normal and heavy wash. It also has time delay options, though I have never used them. For normal washing, it is a one-button operation. Just push "start" and it goes. The top rack is roomy and can fits small and large items. Anything from big sports cups to pots and pans can fit in the top rack. We mostly use the top rack for cups, glasses and bowls. The bottom rack has enough space for the biggest cookware. I would like to have a little more space for plates. The baskets for utensils are in the back. It would be nice to have more room for utensils, too. The baskets are a little too small. The most annoying problem with this dishwasher is the tendency for the bottom rack to get off the track when you pull it out. It sometimes takes several tries to slide it back in. This can be especially annoying with a large load of dishes. The cleaning power of this dishwasher is moderate. It gets through surface grime, but we still have to pre-scrub...
...
