I got this stick blender because I have a 4 year old smoothie addict and I got tired of cleaning out the big blender a couple of times a day. This thing is great - it makes a perfect smoothie in no time. It's plenty powerful and handles any fruits (even apples) with ease. I haven't used it for sauces and soups as the other reviewers do because I don't know how to make any, but it makes a killer smoothie. The bottom part (the business end) is all stainless steel and detaches easily for cleaning. I don't do this. I just run it in a cup of warm, sudsy water without detaching. The handle is plastic (I wish it had been metal) but it has a nice ergonomic shape and the power button is well placed. One caution: this is not for kids to use! Unlike those hand held beverage "whippers" that look similar, the blades on this thing are wicked SHARP! Really! Also, read the instructions before you use it. Be sure NOT to turn it on until the blades are well submerged into the food or you'll be cleaning food...
...

soccerstaralways says "This blender did not meet my expectations at all" about Oster Oster 10 Speed Blender White

I have this same blender in a clear red plastic base. The bottom tends to leak liquid and the plastic container doesn't rest very securely in the motorized base. Mechanical failures aside, the plastic pitcher doesn't clean well- I mostly used this blender for smoothies and found that, no matter how much I scrubbed, the pitcher always had gross fruit bits stuck to the plastic. Don't waste your time or money on this thing. I'm throwing mine out and buying a model with a glass pitcher and more reliability. It was not what i expected, and i would not reccomend it at all. Another complaint is that the lid of the blender is very poorly made and warped in the dishwasher. Also, the middle part of the lid fell into the blender and was pureed into my soup while I was blending it. That's a major design flaw.

It finally died after about 4 years of fairly heavy usage. The motor still works, but the stem that spins snapped off. Instead of replacing it though, i am going to go buy a better one, that will...
...

cn1017 says "Great blender- easy to use" about Waring Pro PBB

The blender is one of the best I've ever had, surpasses other plastic blenders. I previously had a plastic blender which cracked when I tried to blend a soup-- the blender cracked under the heat and exploded all over my kitchen. The container is made of glass, which means you can use it to blend soups/hot foods without the worry of cracking.

The blender design itself is very nice, and it's available in many colors/finishes.

The blender is great for smoothies and crushes ice very well. No need to buy separate margarita blenders, etc.

It's easy to use.. the blade is within the glass, so you can stick it in the dishwasher without taking off the blades, which is also good from a safety standpoint.

This is a very good brand, even if you dont get the PBB series, Waring is a trusted brand for blenders and recommended by many. I also have their meat slicer and we've had no problems with it.
...

This is the best blender ever!!! I was hesitant to even buy a blender because my friends' blenders were always breaking. So I decided I'd get the blender that I saw all the TV cooks using. The all had the Kitchen Aid blender. It was something $99, and this was back in 2003, and I had a rebate, so I it was like 89, with the tax (they still do the rebate! I did the rebate last year on another kitchen aid item) Well worth it. I abuse this thing like crazy, I've ground oats into flour (which I probably shoudln't have done), made the best smoothies and sorbets, and hummus, and it still works after all these years. It is important to have enough liquid or it all accumulates on the sides, but you can also push down with a spatula.
...

The Cuisinart smartpower duet Blender/ food processor is an excellent product and well worth the money. After buying and using cheaper blenders that would not even mix up a dip or crush ice, this has been a dream to have and use. The blender pitcher is made of Heavy glass and has measurements on the side up to 5 cups and 40 oz. , 1 1/4 L or 1250 ml. The lid is plastic with a removable center for pouring in ingredients while running the blender. The pitcher also has a handle and stainless still blade. The bottom base of the blender/ food processor has 9 buttons which include: stir, chop, mix, ice crush, on, off, pulse, food processor and pur'ee. The power cord stores inside of the base as well. The food processor part is see through plastic and holds 3 cups. The lid is plastic also with a top chute and a plastic pusher to push foods through the chute. It is very powerful for mixing dips, sauces, and for chopping and food processing. I use it to make baby food for my child and it works great....
...

cshoema says "Mixer great, blender not so" about Bosch Universal mixer and blender

I bought the Bosch mixer primarily for bread making and have used it (and the blender attachment for 2 years 2 months). I felt confident about spending so much because there was a 3 year warranty. The mixer still works great, but during a recent smoothie-making, the blender blades broke and I was surprised to learn that they only have a one year warranty.

To replace the plastic base blades (which they aren't making any more) costs $22.99; to replace them with the currently used metal base version (which isn't dishwasher safe) costs $29.99. I would have expected that if the company realized the plastic based blades are breaking too often, they would have offered a free replacement, as I have already paid a high price for "high quality" merchandise, but without paying even more, the blender is worthless.
...

The Vita-Mix 5000 is AMAZING!

I am your typical find the best value out there and go with it kinda girl, but this blender which we got as a gift is amazing and if anything ever happened to it I would happily buy another. It really serves the purpose of many kitchen devices which makes it a win win. This thing is indestructible. It encourages healthier eating b/c you can make so many dishes with fresh fruits and vegetables very quickly. No need to core apples or cut up fruit, just throw the whole thing in there and watch it work. We chop nuts for cooking, make soups, smoothies, pastes, etc. In the past we always bought whatever blender was on sale and I always felt I had to put a little bit in at a time to make sure everything blends well which always took up so much time. This blender saves you time and makes your life easier and honestly who doesn't want that.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as we do!...

Oster Blender is a great product and mine has 12 speeds. It blends, pulses, grates, shreds, grinds, liquefies, crushes ice, mixes, whips, chops, creams, and purees, I use the blend a lot and it does a quick job saving me lots of time. My daughter likes the crushed ice feature, as she uses it often.

This morning I made a strawberry, banana and pineapple drink. Its always better when the drink is fresh, as you know exactly what is in the drink. My husband even uses the blender and he likes things to be easy to use.

I have only had this blender for 3 months and it was on sale $10 off. I'm sure glad we decided to spend a little more for all of these speeds. This one has liters and cups lines and 6 cups fit into the blender. The cover comes on and off easily and the bottom comes off easily to clean the blender. One thing I really like is its not heavy, as two of them I lifted at the store were quite heavy. This is a great blender and I recommend it.

The Vita Mix is the most powerful, awesome blending machine known to man. Okay, maybe that's a slight exageration, but not by much. The Vita Mix is the most supremely awesome blender I have ever owned. It's so powerful that you can even use it to make pudding because the blades spin so fast (or so I have been told.) The only possible drawback that ever will cross your mind is the fact that sometime you don't want to obliterate the food/drink in your blender and it can be difficult to retain some kind of texture. You can circumvent this with careful supervision. The Vita mix can blend anything you can think of, pesto, fruit, soup, smoothies, etc. It's also relatively easy to clean as well, which is a huge bonus. It also comes with a recipe book. Basically, if you love cooking, you should do yourself a huge favor and get a Vita mix. Your stomach and your friends will thank you.
...

oesllc says "I bake more now that I have a Kitchen Aid Mixer" about KitchenAid Mixer/blender

My loving husband gave me a Kitchen Aid mixer over five years ago for Christmas. I had no idea, but he did know I wanted one. It was the only thing I told him I wanted that involved a plug. I can make everything from yummy mashed potatoes, to bread, to cookies. The possibilities are endless. And with the interchangeable attachments, I can make cake AND whip cream in a jiffy. My only added reccommendation is to buy an extra bowl. You need an extra bowl so when you are in the middle of baking, or mixing, or whatever, you don't have to wait and clean it so you can use it again. Especailly when it's sticky cookie or cake batter. It takes a lot longer to clean and is easier to clean when it gets a good soak with soap and water. I probably use my Kitchen Aid Mixer about once a week. Even more so starting around October through December. We are looking forward to baking this season, which we've already started.
...

Starbuck's Barista Bar Blender

I have to give credit where credit is due. I am not a frequenter of Starbuck's for coffee drinks and I actually returned 2 Starbuck's coffee pots that were design nightmares... but the Starbuck's Barista Bar Blender is awesome.

I make a fruit smoothie mid-morning almost everyday. We call it a fruit smoothie because that is a lot more salable but it also has some vegetables too and lots of ice cubes. The ice cubes are key. In the same way that chocolate chip cookies are even better warm, fruit smoothies are even better really cold.

The Starbuck's blender is really simple- pulse, low or high. I put it on low for 10 seconds followed by high for 10 seconds and it is all done. The bananas are creamy, there are no ice chips, the kale is pulverized beyond detection and...
...

I bought this Black and Decker Crush Master blender a few months ago when a national chain store was going out of business and offered discounted prices.

I've always liked the Black and Decker brand so figured it was a good buy. The blender has l6 settings for Hi and Lo, making a total of 12 blending choices. It does a great job mixing everthing I've tried and does a good job mixing things added to the blender later.

The blender parts are easy to wash and assemble. That's always a plus.

One major problem is that it makes a horribly loud gear grinding noise when in use. We put up with it only because there was a no-return policy a the store and the manufacturer didn't offer a replacement guarantee.

The Crush Master has had good reviews so I'm thinking we happened to purchase a defective one. We'll stick with it and continue to use it until it gives up or I find a good deal elsewhere on a better model.
...

I always make fun of infomercials--don't we all?--and the Magic Bullet was no exception. When my best friend's parents gave me and my husband a Magic Bullet for our wedding, we laughed and wondered if we'd ever even use the thing. Four years later, I can't even tell you *how* many times we use it, every week, for so many things. I've discovered this thing can make just about any fruit-yogurt-juice combination into an excellent smoothie (and a healthy, quick, on-the-go breakfast--which, by the way, I can blend right in the cup I'll drink it out of), milkshakes made at home are way better than what I can get at a drive-thru, and large bulky food processers that take up tons of counter space are no match for this powerful little blender! We leave the base on the kitchen counter for easy access since we use it so often, and it takes up so little space. For us, it's replaced lots of other gadgets we received as wedding gifts--like a fancy smoothie blender that leaked and didn't blend well, a...
...

sausage8046 says "Amazing" about Osterizer Blender

We purchased our Osterizer stainless steel blender quite a few years ago at Best Buy for $60. It was a much more expensive blender than most, but the one we had before was a Hamilton Beach $15 thing and it couldn't even blend a margarita. The Osterizer is so amazing and we've never had any problems with it, I think it's about 5 years old now and it works amazingly. The only thing I find a little annoying is how easily stuff collects under the glass part, not inside the container, but under it. I have to poke my fingers underneath the base to clean out that part. We used to use it a lot more and have made everything from shakes to drinks in it and for only $60 and to have lasted us this long and still be in the kind of condition it's in is unheard of. I would recommend this to anyone who like to entertain because it not only works well, but is also appeasing to the eye. It's especially nice for busy moms who could use a nice drink after the kids have gone to bed.
...

Jo says " I make smoothies with my Wave Station Dispensing Blender" about Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express Dispensing Blender

We are now a 2-blender family. My husband's smoothies have two many calories so I bought the Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express Dispensing Blender for about $20.00.

Pros

The 48-ounce jar is plastic so if it falls it won't break.

Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express Dispensing Blender has a Wave Action system. This actually works. The blender forces the mixture down into the blades. I have made smoothies before in other blenders and have to scrape the sides but I haven't had to this with Hamilton Beach Wave Station Express Dispensing Blender.

It it dishwasher safe.

It is attractive.

It has a dispenser so I can just pull on it and out will come my smoothie. If I use the spout there is a hidden spot under the blender for the cap. If I use the cap then I have to put the spout in a drawer.

It crushes ice really, really well.

It has 4 speeds which are smoothies, juicer, pulse, and milk shake. There is also a dispenser function which the dial should be on when using the dispenser.

AnnaBanana says "A buried treasure, for sure!" about Osterizer 16 speed stand mixer

A couple years ago, someone gave me an Osterizer 16 Speed Blender which thrilled me to death at first. Somehow, I never did get around to trying it right away and eventually I hid it under a protective quilted cover and shoved it to one side on my kitchen counter where it became barricaded or buried under other kitchen trivia and utensils. It wasn't until the other day when I read CountryMama's review about HER blender that I dug my own out and decided to use it.

The Osterizer 16 Speed Blender is a Super-Gizmo for sure, programmed as it is to perform the vital tasks of crushing ice, grating, blending, shredding, grinding, mashing, liquefying, Frappe(ing?), pulsing, stirring, beating, pureeing, chopping, whipping and mixing. There is also another task called "Easy Clean" which is something of a mystery as naturally, I did not store whatever instruction manual may have existed with the machine which means I will have to "play it by ear" for a while.

MY VIEWPOINT:

daboss98 says "Blends everything" about Osterizer Classic Beehive Blender

After destroying my brother's blender trying to make the ultimate smoothie, I decided it might be time for a new blender for him, since his was 4 years old. Of course the first person I called was my mother to see what Consumer Reports said about blenders. And the Osterizer came highly recommended. This blender only has 2 speeds - full throttle and pulse which is what most people use anyway. Its great for crushing ice, frozen fruit, chocolate chips. It looks great and has enough power for most any kitchen project. I advise you to read the manual before operating though as I made a mistake and put all the frozen ingredients in first. It needs liquid at the bottom to pull ingredients down into the blade. I mean this blender is so strong it would probably grind rocks if you put them in their. It completely goes crushes ice in seconds. I can't wait to try some of the recipes in the booklet that came with it!
...

titanium7 says "The absolute best blender/grinder on the market!" about Vita-Mix 5000 Variable Speed Blender

I'd never give up my Vita-Mix 5000. It's great for everything. When I make bread, I grind my own flour from wheat berries, old-fashioned oats, almost any whole grain. I also use it to make fruit smoothies, whole vegetable juices (my favorite is carrot, celery, beet, apple, spinach, orange juice and ice!) , margaritas, gin gimlets, soup, just about anything you can imagine! I have ice cube trays that make huge ice cubes. This machine chews them into slush in less than a minute and it even chops up celery without the strings getting stuck in the blades. The only drawback for me is the noise but I guess that's a tradeoff for the speed and consistency of what you're making. When I do soup, which takes about 4 minutes, I put it outside to run so I don't have to listen to the noise. But, for everything else, it only takes a few seconds to a minute to make whatever it is you want. It's also perfect when I have the grandbabies over, I can blend up whatever we're having so I don't have to buy baby...
...
