We bought our new Durabrand Model YD-298 blender about 3 months ago when our old one stopped working. We had some criteria in mind when selecting our new blender. First and foremost we wanted a glass blender. Next, we wanted it to have more than 8 speeds and over 400 watts. I love making fruit smoothies and purreed foods as well so those two speeds were required. I knew that I would need a durable blender that could stand up to repeated and regular use. Finally, this time around I did not want to spend $60 as I did before at Target and then have the blender stop work mysteriously after only 3 months (90 days) of usage. Well, we were out shopping at Walmart one afternoon and I was nervous, but decided to glance in their blender section. There I saw a nice selection of glass blenders at various price points. We really had our hearts set on this $50 dollar blender, but after talking to the manager learned it was sold out. I then took a long and hard look at the Durabrand blender...
...

BlendtexThe total blender is very powerful. This blender is three horse power strong. It's great to have in every kitchen. When first time i used blender,i didn't like.i even was thinking to return back, even call company and complaint, that is powerful, but if you put not enough ingredient into the blender,it will not blends smoothly. But after trying more and more,i started like it.only one thing is missing for me,is that if you put 4 cups of ingredients and not enough liquid,so it blends only in the bottom, another words saying, creates an air pocket ,and you have to turn off, mixe it and turn on again.Sometimes i have to repeat time and time again. But this is a little problem if you preparing raw vegan foods.I am raw vegan, and i like to prepare raw vegan cakes, like chocolate mousse.so that's then i have problem for geting blended smoothly without too much liquid. But overall i am giving 4 stars. It's the most powerful home blender, that i know.I have been using for almost 3 years.i use almost every...
...

Tlaws32837 says "The Cuisinart blender is not much better than most blenders." about Cuisinart Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor

The Cuisinart blender is the first blender that I have ever owned. I bought this blender when I first got married four years ago because of it's nice features. It was a bit pricier than most other blenders, but I am a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" so I did not mind the price. It had a lot of power and several different settings. I thought it would be a good investment and expected it to last me a long time. I was a bit disappointed at how quickly the blender broke in a way that was not repairable. I love smoothies and this blender claimed to have the power to handle ice and a lot of heavy duty use. So I was surprised when I discovered it only lasted a couple of years before it stopped working. I may have expected such a life span from an average priced blender, but not this one. I spent extra money with the intent that this appliance would last me a long time and that did not work out.
...

lenny22 says "Disapointing" about Oster 12-Speed Blender - 6802

We bought this as a temporary replacement until my wife could decide on whether she would like a food processor, juicer..etc.

I should have known that might take a while and spent a little more money on our temp blender. This blender does not blend uniformly, refuses to start up at times and is downright scary. Even when you hold it down it moves sideways...all over the place!!!

On a positive note, it comes apart rather easily for cleaning and is plastic instead of glass so it doesn't weigh as much as our old one. I've dropped it, personally, several times and gave thanks that it wasn't made of glass.

As a whole, I wish we would have opted for something a little more substantial. If you only use it occasionally, I'm sure this will work just fine but we have our granddaughter here for the summer and she loves smoothies. It just can't hold up to that kind of use ( or, rather, abuse).

brittmcclure says "Worth the money!" about Magic Bullet

I bought the magic bullet hoping it was worth the money....and it was! I have used it almost every day since I recieved it. It came with all pieces including, the blender itself, 4 mugs, tall and short cup, lids for mugs, blender attachment, and juicer. It works great! I have made smoothies, frozen drinks, sauces, almost anything. My entire family uses it. It can process anything in 3- seconds....so no worries about the motor burning up. There is a lock in mode and a pulse mode. I find that the pulse mode seems to work best because it flings the food back down to the blades to get blended. If you put it in the lock in mode, I would advise not to leave it in very long because the motor could potentially burn....and you really don't need it. I have had it leak a couple times, but making sure the plastic gasket it still in there (it comes with replacements) and the blade is screwed on tight has always fixed the problem. I highly recommend this blender...it is the best!
...

toddcan says "Broken after 4 months. Cheap. Would not recommend. " about Black & Decker 10-Speed Cyclone Blender

The Black and Decker Cyclone blender has a nice heavy glass container.

That's about all I liked about this thing.

The MOST irritating thing: The lid does not come off very easily! There is a clear plastic insert in the middle of the lid that comes off to add items while blending.. but when you try to remove the lid with this handle/insert, then the insert comes off, leaving the lid firmly in place. I cannot believe the designers even tried to remove the lid when they built prototypes.

The second irritating thing: It's noisy as all get out, and vibrates like a son of a gun.

And finally.. it's CHEAP.. after ~4 months of light use, the bottom plastic gear on the bottom of the glass container (the one that meshes with the base gears, and turns the blades to blend) shattered! It's in 6-7 pieces, rendering the blender useless....

This KitchenAid blender is absolutely amazing! I received it as a wedding present, and I wanted shaved ice for a coctail that I was making. I put the cubes of ice in there and hit the puree button and in 15 seconds I had shaved ice! I was so excited, I've owned several kinds of blenders, but none that actually chopped the ice down that fine! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a high quality blender and buy another if this one should go out. I use it almost every day and I've had it for three years now. I got it from walmart and it is in the upper middle of the price range for blenders, but in this instance you definitely get what you pay for. Spend a little more to get quality and you will not regret it. It doesn't have any model numbers written on it that I can see, but it has a plastic mixing container and the bottom is white. It is heavy, and it has pads on the bottom that grip well. I haven't been able to knock it over like some other brands that I have purchased.
...

We wanted to be able to make our own baby food so that it would be healthier and fresher. We got a Magic Bullet so that we would be able to quickly blend up baby food for our son without having to have a big blender on the counter. Since our purchase, we have been able to do that and a whole lot more!

It has worked great for quickly pureeing all kinds of foods for our son. Additionally, we routinely chop garlic, blend frozen fruit smoothies, whip cream, make milkshakes and puree soups. The blending containers are microwave and dishwasher safe which just makes them more convenient. The containers to not retain odors even though they are plastic.

The things that I wish were different:

I do wish that it were quieter but we just take it into the garage if the baby is sleeping and we need to use it - which just shows you how quick and easy it is to move!

Essentially it purees whatever you put into it so if you want something chunky (like salsa) then you are out of luck.

I love this small portable blender called the Hamilton Beach single serve blender with travel lid, I have made my sofrito kinda like a pesto but using hispanic ingredients, milk shakes, fruit juices, I press the button to pulsate and it is good just like the big blenders this little one is pretty practical, does not take up too much space, and my milk shakes and sofrito comes out nicely, not too watery but in a paste consistency, although small but very convinient. the down side to this it gets a bit too warm but after allowing the blender to cool down a bit, hey, I like it, it works like the big ones, and washing the blending jar/ cup is easy, after preparing the smoothy or milkshake I use the blending jar as a portable cup, the top seals in tighty, the blades are pretty strong because have put some ice and have the machine crush the ice for me, I like the fact the cable can be wrapped underneath the pulsate button. In conclusion, it is portable, convinient, easy to store, use and...
...

The Breville Ikon five-speed juicer has been well worth the money spent. For the first time ever, I found a way that I like to eat carrots. My favorite kind of juice is carrot-apple-celery-ginger juice, with a drop of hot pepper oil for extra bite.

The juicer is sturdy and well-designed. The chute where you put the fruit or vegetables is wide enough to take a whole uncut apple. Very convenient to not have to spend a lot of time preparing the fruits and vegetables before juicing.

The juicer is easy to clean up after use. The most difficult part of cleaning up is the spinning mesh basket that strains the juice from the pulp. A scrub brush is included for this purpose, which actually works really well.

The fact that the juicer has five speeds is a nice feature that I couldn't find on any other juicers when I was researching which one to buy. The idea is that you want to use the lowest speed possible for highest juice yield.

Best of all, the juice is yummy.

I love my magic bullet. I got it as a present last Christmas (one con is that it is a little spendy, especially if you don't make smoothies often). I love it because it is so convenient and quick. I live in a dorm, so having a bulky blender that would make way too much for just one person would be ridiculuos. That's where the magic bullet comes in. I can make one serving for myself- a splash of juice and milk, a small carton of yogurt, and some frozen fruit, then put the lid on a blend! It is also easy for if I have friends over who want one, it is so easy and quick and people can customize. I've also made milkshakes with it. My next task-is to try to make purees with it. I haven't tried it yet, but I am sure it will turn out great. The only bad thing I have to say about the magic bullet is that sometimes the lid will leak while blending-just a little. And when you try to tighten the lid-it really gets tight and therefore difficult to come off. Overall, though I love it and would recommend...
...

After my bad experience with the Mustang Mixer Deluxe, I purchased my Black & Decker Cyclone 10-Speed Blender on a desperate whim. Basically, it was on sale and I needed a blender. In hindsight, I wish that I would have done some research or dug a little deeper into my wallet because I am not very happy with this blender.

To be fair, I'll start with the pros:

* I like that the 48 ounce blending jar is made of glass and not cheap plastic like my previous blender.

* There are 10 speed controls and a pulse function, which I use on a daily basis. Ice chopping is a breeze with this blender and the stainless steel blade shows no signs of wear and tear.

* This blender is sized just right and fits in my dishwasher for easy cleaning. I can also store the electrical cord under the base to make my kitchen look tidy in a jiffy.

I only have two cons but one of them is a biggie:

I just love my new Hamilton Beach Blender mode! I saw one at the store, looked at the reasonable price and said, "hey we need this!" The price was under thirty bucks, and it has ten speeds! So far we have made milkshakes, chopped veggies and blended ingredients together all in a quick flash. It really does a great job. The blending jar is very durable as I found out after dropping it on the floor by mistake. It was empty at the time or I would have to write about clean up products! This blender is pleasant to look at and doesn't take up a lot of my counter space either. My blender is white and goes well with everything. Because it is easy to use and clean, my whole family is enjoying it and we all wish that we had bought it sooner. This is the first new blender that we have ever had. We are having fun creating new drinks too! My boyfriend and I like to make frozen adult drinks with ice. So great after a long, hot day. Check one out!
...

I love this blender and it is quick and easy to use. It is small so it can stay up on my counter top and the attatchments are easy to use. There is a cup that you blend in and then you don't need to transfer the blended drink to another cup if you do not wish....so it saves you time and it saves you from doing more dishes. There are also lids that go on the cups so if you wish to travel with the cup in the car or put the drink in the refridge there is no worries about spills. I have blended juice smoothies, margaritta's, and also used the blender to make baby food. It comes along with different types of blender/chopping mixers, so you can make a soild into something smooth or chunky. It chops ice well, but I typically use crushed ice when using the mixer. My 2 year old son loves to help "push down" to make it mix, it is that easy to use. There is only one speed of mixing, but for what I use it for (shakes, health drinks, smoothies, etc) I do not need more than one speed. It cleans......

I had seen this prouduct on the TV informercials for a long time and I am usually quite a sucker to buy them off of TV. But this time my fiance was like No I dont think so, those things off of TV rarley work well they are just scams. So I never purchased the product. We got married almost a month ago and even though the Magic Bullet was not on our gift registry we received it has a gift from a cousin of his. I was SO excited! No one understood what the big deal was but I was very excited because i had wanted one for a very long time.

The next day I opened the box and got started!! I have only had it for about two weeks so I have not made too many things yet. But what I have found is that is it amazing for making smoothies or icecream. For breakfast on the go I just toss is whatever fruit I have laying around, strawberries, bananas and a little orange juice and ice and I have a perfect breakfast smoothy that is not only easy but healthy!!!
...

momto4ls says "It was worth every penny!!" about Vitamix 5200

I had to wait quite a while and save up my pennies to buy a Vitamix and I have not been disappointed!

I use my vitamix every day. It blends until literally smooth. It makes ice cream, nut butters, pancake batter, fruit smoothies that are smooth even after I add flax seed (!), chops hard cheeses that just about killed my food processor, makes soups, grinds grains, does awesome salad dressings without having to chop first, and the pesto - YUM.

My sister went through 6 blenders in less than 2 years until she bought her vitamix. She was burning them out making fruit smoothies - even the smoothie makers! She hasn't had to buy a new blender since she bought her vitamix 4 years ago. My mother swears by hers as well. We ALL love them.

I was unable to use things like frozen peaches in my other blender - they just wouldn't come out smooth. With the vitamix it is a breeze.

The recipe book that comes with the machine is to die for - so many recipes made with whole foods! We don't...
...

jewel312b says "Hamilton Beach hand blender has been a life saver" about Hamilton Beach 2-Speed Hand Blender w/case

The Hamilton Beach hand blender with case is great. It comes with three attachments including the drink attachment, whisk attachment, and the blade attachment. When my daughter was drinking powdered formula, I used this EVERY day. I would measure out large quantities of formula and blend for a smooth, non-clumpy bottle. I had tried several others but this was the best by far. The case made clean up and storage very convenient. I never had to hunt down the proper parts, they were all organized in the case. When mixing a liquidy substance, there was no back spray, which was great. I also liked the chart that was included with the owners manual. I taped it to the inside of the case for quick reference. It included blending times and attachments you should use dependant on what you were mixing. The mixer and attachments were fairly easy to clean if you do it right away. I was a little turned off by the fact that it tells you not to chop ice, but ya can't have everything I guess? Would...
...

gabdi979 says "The commercial seems "too good to be true" but is true." about Magic Bullet Blender - High Speed Mixing System

When I first saw the Magic Bullet commercial, I thought "yeah, right", "to good to be true" but the product is really what was advertised. This product worth every penny! My husband doesn't want to even to look up the commercial but when I bought it, he couldn't believe it. I showed him that smoothies can be made in seconds and after smoothies you can chop garlic, he was amazed!

Recipes Booklet is very helpful and the durable material that doesn't keep any odors after dishwashing is great! Let's not forget that is very convenient and easy to clean. Magic Bullet is very compact and you don't have to use too much space of your counter. Product offers a one year warranty and you are able to buy an extended warranty of four years.

If I have to describe the product in a few words, I would say durable, quick and convenient. After use the Magic Bullet, I recommend it to several people and also buy one as a gift for my sister.

Knb4evr95 says "I am completely satisfied with the performance of this blender!" about Oster 6812 / 6813 / 6814 16-Speed Blender

My daughter and I started getting into fruit smoothies, so after retiring our hand-me-down plastic pitcher blender that I got from my brother Steve, I begain pricing blenders at Walmart. After looking week after week for a great bargain, I finally broke down and paid full price for the Oster Blender. It has a glass pitcher which I like. My daughter who is 13 can use it with ease and it blends ice cubes with ease. The only problem I have is getting my daughter to remember to rinse it out after she's done!
...
