ninjasherrie says "OK in a pinch if money is tight; otherwise try another brand" about Dirt Devil Dynamite

I bought this vacuum (Dirt Devil Dynamite) after moving to a location that had wall to wall carpet upstairs after having all hardwood floors. I didn't want to spend a lot, so i picked up the Dirt Devil Dynamite at Wal Mart for like $29.00.

This vacuum is very basic; there are no attachements, no bells and whistles, but it does have HEPA fltration which i thought was good, since i live in dusty Arizona and have a cat. It was simple to assemble and the cord is very long, although it does not have auto rewind for the cord. You must wind and unwind it as needed. Annoying, but for $29.00 what should i expect?

This vacuum is LOUD! Not only is the motor loud enough to make your ears ring, it also emits a high pitched squeal that is grating on the nerves. Sometimes i notice a weird odor but i've checked and can find no belts rubbing or hot parts or smoke, so i guess this is the norm?

Bottom line, this vacuum does a decent job of picking up dirt and pet hair, but it lacks an adjustable...
...

opusanna says "The Kenmore Progressive vacuum reliably cleans thoroughly" about kenmore progressive (with bag) Vacuum

The Kenmore Progressive vacuum so far is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. This is in comparison to Dirt Devil, Hoover, and Eureka uprights. I've had it over two years now and it still cleans just as well as it did when I first bought it. It's never required any maintenance aside from removing hair from the main rotating brush. It picks up most debris on the first pass and gives professional looking results. I especially like the dirt sensor feature.

On the down side, it is a somewhat bulky machine, but the attachments allow reach into smaller spaces. It is a little annoying to move the machine around while using the attachments because it is a somewhat heavy and bulky machine, but overall, I've been very pleased with it. When the time comes to buy another vacuum, I would buy another Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner. However, I would buy a bagless one, because not many stores carry bags for Kenmore upright vacuums.
...

I bought this little vacuum cleaner at Wal-mart on sale for $48.00. What a deal!!! It is fantastic for cleaning up pet hair from my two little white papillons and a white cat who shed constantly on my dark green carpet. I do have to keep the little sponge filter cleaned. I sometimes do this by rinsing and drying it. Sometimes, I have another little canister vacuum cleaner and I vacuum it clean. I try to do this every time or two that I use it and it works great! The hepa filter (the thing that looks like an accordian folded white paper fan in the black plastic) also needs replaced or cleaned. My husband has taken it out and has blown air through it the opposite way with his air compresser because we haven't ordered any new ones. It has worked amazingly well for over a year. I am finally breaking down and ordering some new hepa filters. Over all a great vacuum that gets up pet hair better than my upright bag vacuum.
...

jesbrown says "Lightweight, easy to store, perfect for smaller spaces." about Eureka Optima Optima Vacuum

I got the Eureka Optima Lightweight vaccuum when I moved into my first apartment. I like that it is lightweight since I live in a townhome and have stairs. Also the attachments make it easy to clean tight spaces, like the crevices of the stairs. The brush roll on/off option makes going from carpet to hard woods floors simple. It is easy store and takes up very little space as the handle can be slid down into the unit for a more compact fit. I also like that the handle has a circular shape on top which makes carrying the Optima up and down the stairs a breeze. Not to mention it only weighs 12 pounds, so I don't have to worry about pulling a muscle or tripping over it when going up and down the stairs. The Optima is a great deal and can be found at common retail stores like Target or Wal Mart and is quite affordable. The filters are also easily found at many local stores. I love Eureka's products and feel they are a brand I can trust.
...

I wanted to buy a quality vacuum cleaner after having a crappy, loud bagless Drit Devel for two years. I still had my Panosonic upright but it was old (22 years) and not as powerful as it had been but still worked better than the Dirt Devel which broke after two years of light use. I went to Sears after checking with Consumer Reports and learning that Kenmore was rated at the top. I tried several brands of uprights then for some odd reason I tried the Sears Kenmore Intuition canister vacuum. C.R. rated the canisters better at picking up pet hair, etc. So after testing the Dyson and the different Kenmores, I finally decided that the Intuition canister vac was the best all-around, multi-purpose vacuum. It was on sale too. The bags are not expensive which was very important for me. The bagless vacs aren't as dust free as the bag type vacs, so I am VERY happy with my choice of buying a bagged vac. I never thought I would ever go back to a canister vac but it is much easier to...
...

I recieved this vacuum from my grandmother and when I looked at it I thought there was no way it could do what I needed. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and there are three adults living in the house. Also we have frequent visitors and a large house. We have hard wood floors, carpet, berber carpet and linoleum. I did not believe this could clean my house. I was wrong. I abosolutly love this vacuum. It says it is as powerful as a full upright and it is. The suction on this is the best I have ever had. It gets up everything even stuff my other vacuums left behind. It also works on the hard floors as well. I love that it is bagless and the filters do a great job. And it is so small it is easy to store and so light weight it is easy to use. I would recommend this to everyone.
...

I have owned a few vacuum cleaners before I bought a Dyson. I have two dogs that shed a lot and had never found a vacuum that could handle cleaning up all of their hair without clogging or breaking. The Dyson vacuums are much more expensive that most other vacuums, but made claims about never loosing suction and came with a warranty so I decided to try one out. I bought the Dyson DC 07 and I am so glad that I did. I found that the claims made by the company about never loosing suction to be absolutely true. It does such a great job at cleaning my house ( even all the dog hair ) and doesn't leave anything behind. It also has a washable hepa filter which I love. It never has to be replaced. You just wash it every six months. I have now owned this vacuum for three years and it still performs as well as it did when I first bought it. I am so pleased with my Dyson and will certainly buy another one, assuming I ever need a new one.
...

I was in desperate need of a vacuum. My old one died, and I knew I could not stand to get a bag vacuum. I had to have a bagless. My place is almost always dirty, having little ones who like to eat everywhere. So I also really needed a strong suction as well. From the first time I used it, I knew I just loved it. I don't have to keep changing bags; what a relief! Time saver and money saver. The suction is great, so I don't have to go over and over one spot. I also do not have to clean it out over and over again, also waisting more time waiting for it to dry. I am s very happy with my lightweight, heavy suction Eureka bagless vacuum.
...

It seems I'm always on the lookout for a new product to clean my Pergo floors. Sweeping works marginally well and is always an okay standby, but with the amount of dog hair that accumulates, all that seems to do is make it airborne. I first saw the Swivel Sweeper here on Viewpoints, so for me it's not As Seen On TV, but As Seen On Viewpoints, and reading the reviews, it looked like a must for me. It has now become my favorite new thing.

Like most As Seen On TV products, it's also available at Walgreens, so I purchased it there, instead of online or over the phone, for $40, the same price I would pay online, but saving me the shipping cost. I could buy one, get one free at the website, but pay double the exorbitant shipping charges, so it didn't seem worth it to me.

The one thing I didn't get on this Swivel Sweeper that I would have gotten by buying the one, getting the one free, on the website is the elbow joint on the sweeper that allows you to bend it to get under furniture. It seems it's...
...

I purchased my Dyson vacuum after reading a review by a television actress that I trusted and I have never been sorry. It is a little pricier than some but so worth it. I don't have to purchase bags for it and it is extremely easy to empty the dirt which is visible through the see through container. The attachment is right there if I want to convert to another cleaning tool for corners or whatever. One slide of a button and I can convert to hardwood floors. I have enjoyed it so much that we purchased another Dyson for downstairs and I would really like to purchase the roller ball version that came out. These are the last vacuums that I will have to purchase as I like everything about them. If I had a pet I would be purchasing the purple Dyson for cleaning up pet hair. I even enjoy the commercials that are on tv about the Dyson.
...

We are a household of pet lovers. We have two dogs and a cat, and I am constantly struggling with pet hair. I had a great vacuum, but it died recently, so I had to shop for a new affordable vacuum that would help with the pet hair in our home.

I found the Eureka Boss 4D Pet Fresh Bagless Upright Vacuum at Walmart, and was impressed with the features that it offered. These features include:

Wide cleaning path

Settings for carpet height and/or bare floors

When I brought my vacuum home, it had to be assembled, but I did it myself and it took less than five minutes. I simply snapped the handle in place and then screwed two screws into place. Then, I had to attach the Telescopic self-cleaning duster. All the packaging was recyclable,...
...

gettoracer says "Easier to use a regular vaccume" about iRobot 400 Vacuum

Well I purchased the irobot 400 a couple of years after it came out, at Sears on black Friday. The idea of a robotic vaccume fascinated me, and I thought that if it actually worked, it would be worth the money. I lived in an 1100 square foot two bedroom apartment, and had one cat. The vaccume work pretty well at first. My carpets were very clean. However, here is a list of the MANY downsides to this robotic vaccume:

1. You have to pick absolutely evrything up off the floor so that it does not get caught in the vaccume (not good for when you're short on time)

2. It fills up very quickly, so you have to dump it frequently.

3. It gets stuck ging over thresholds.

4. It moves in a strange zig-zag patttern, which causes it to miss some spots

5. You have to replace the parts VERY often in order for it to work properly, and the parts are very expensive!

6. Works slowly

7. No attatchments

8. Unable to do stairs

Whether you're a busy DIYer or just the typical homeowner, this is one of those "must have" tools.

Throughout the year I'm usually engaged in one project or another around the house. I'm not complaining mind you; I get a lot of satisfaction from my DIY projects. But I'd be lying if I said I look forward to clean-up. Nope, that's just not me.

And, as much as the lovely Mrs. Xeno appreciates the fruits of my labor, coming home to a mid-project mess plays to none of her strengths. It wasn't too hard to convince her that we needed a Shop Vac Wet/Dry Vacuum.

Shop Vac Wet/Dry Vacuum 930-06-11

As the name suggests, this is a vacuum suitable for wet or dry conditions. It has a 6 gallon capacity and is powered by a 3HP motor. Accessories include three extension wands, a 7' plastic hose, a 10" general purpose head as well as a crevice tool and brush. This is a cannister model that rolls on three casters.

The Kenmore Magic Blue vacuum is an amazing little guy. I bought this vacuum 2 years ago. I have owned some top of the line canister vacuums including an Oreck and a Miele, but my budget was a bit tight so I chose the Kenmore Magic Blue. It surpassed all my expectations. In truth, I like it as well, if not better, then those far more expensive brands.

Positives: It is a very reasonably priced, small canister vacuum. It is light and easy to use, but it has plenty of power. My favorite feature is the power slide on the handle. You can turn the vacuum on or off without bending down to the canister. This is particularly helpful when you are up on a latter doing drapes or a ceiling fan. The bags are easy to change. The hard floor and carpet attachments are great. The extendable handle is easy to use.

Negatives: The crevice tool/dusting brush isn't fantastic, and the power cord could be a little longer. Also, the button you have to press in to change the attachments is small and stiff;...
...

Nathso says "Powerful vacuum " about Bissell Momentum Vacuum

The Bissell Cyclonic Momentum vacuum is amazing! It picks up the dirt from deep down the carpet. When I just got it I had vacuumed my living room 2 days ago and it the Bissell momentum pick up so much dirt I was so surprised, you can see the tiniest dust like sand that tells you the vacuum cleans deep down. I looked online so many affordable vacuums and this one got a lot of good reviews and I wasn't disappointed with it. It cleans very close to the ground, there is a setting also if you want to vacuum on bare floors, like hardwood floors. The other cool part is that there is a clean container that collects the dust and you can dump dirt from the container after you vacuum or until it is full to the top line, it is so easy to remove the container that I dump the dirt every time I vaccum. I bought it a B'J's for 80$ while it is 109$ at Target.

The weight is the same as a regular vacuum, as well as the noise, but that doesn't bother me as the most important for me is how it cleans.

todlermom says "Little Green Machine is my new best cleaning friend!" about Bissell Little Green Machine Vacuum

This is by far the best little carpet cleaning machine around! I use it to clean my stairs, the covering on my couches, and most importantly of all, the "little" messes my dog occasionally leaves me. It saves me the hassle of dragging out my oversized carpet cleaner. The model I bought does not include a water heater but I just put in hot water prior to using it. The water & cleaning fluid is mixed together and if by chance you don't use it all at one time, it's ok to leave it sitting inside that unit. The only problem with this is that the next time you go to use it, the water will not be hot...minor issue in my opinion. The water that is sucked up is deposited into a small container on the side of the unit...be careful...while I was trying to figure out how to empty the dirty water, I preceeded to dump it all over me....you pour it out through the top of the container. It is money well spent....trust me!
...

jrector86 says "THIS VACCUM TOTALLY SUCKS" about Dyson Ball dyson DC24 Vacuum

...and I mean that in a good way!!! I wanted to purchase this item, because I have seen it so much on television, I thought I would give that guy a chance. I have owned vacuums before, and they always stop working, they loose their suction and before you know it, they don't pick up anything. It picks up baby powder, sand, crushed up crackers, cat hair, you name it, it gets it. I have long hair and I am use to taking vacuums apart, to get my hair off the brushes. This vacuum has a great feature, where if it gets loaded with hair or string, the brushes shut off. I usually spend a good 1/2 hour taking the vacuum apart to get the hair or string out, not with this one, there is a lever on the side that you turn and then the whole brush comes out, pull the hair out and put it back in. I was shocked that I didn't have to get the screwdriver out and spend a lot of time on this. I have to empty out the canister a lot, but it is because it works so well, I am getting everything that my old vacuums...
...

lilabski says "I love my Dyson DC14 Drive Vacuum, it eats all the dirt" about Dyson DC 14 Drive Vacuum

Any Dyson is going to be an investment, but if you are looking for a good investment I suggest the DC14 Drive. It is designed to also clean your car/truck with a couple extra attachments, which I like to use around the house as well. So basically you get a vacuum that you can use inside, and then take into your garage and clean your car out with! I know you could do that with any vacuum right? Well with this one it comes with a bendy crevice tool, which is a tool you will realize your car would never be cleaner without, it WILL reach ever nook and cranny, and it comes with a mini rotator brush for the carpet to effectively get out the crubs out of the fibers. On top of all that, it is also a superb vacuum for inside your home. It has a HEPA filter, and it is bagless (suggestion: empty the canister outside), it "never loses suction" (I quote this because you have to maintain it properly to achieve this 100% of the time, but if you do that then it motto is true). Even though it is an upright,...
...

This is the best vacume I have ever used it is so easy & it picks up everything. I dont have to worry about using those pesky bags. I have owned it for 4 years and the vacume still works like new. I absolutly love it. It works great on carpet & on floors as well. I just love that the Vacume has the hoses that extend too they are great for vacuming hard to reach places. Like air vents & underneath kitchen cabinets I also love the fact that when your done cleaning you can see all of the dust & dirt that you picked up in the see through window tube that holds all of the dirt that you picked up. I also love the look of the vacume it looks like soemthing out of the future. I used to clean office's for a job & I would vacume every day & it was so annoying to use the bags and it didnt clean no where near as well. I would recomend this vacume to anybody in the market to buying a vacume. I give it the highest rating possible.
...

LisaCarey says "Eureka! This Makes Light Work of Sweeping Tile-Hardwood Floors" about Eureka Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner 166F 4 in 1 Vacuum

I am not fickle about sweepers, I just expect a lot in one to make my life easier, especially since I have to sweep at least two times a day because of a busy household, food on the floors and pets. I have used the Swiffer Sweep and Vac, the Rubbermaid Dual Action Sweeper with limited or no success and the As Seen on TV Swivel Sweeper for Floors Vacuum (which I like but didn't survive a fight with pet hair and a dryer sheet). After months of once again using a broom and dust pan my husband came home triumphantly bearing the Eureka Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner 160 Series, hoping to make his housekeeping diva wife happy finally with clean floors.

The Eureka Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner 160 Series takes a whole two minutes to put together. There is also a crevice tool, but no place to store it. To assemble, pull handle, open canister, place in filter, close, plug in and turn on.

What I like about the Eureka Lightweight Vacuum Cleaner 160 Series

lightweight
