I purchased the Crane Thomas the Train humidifier for my kids mostly becuase it has Thomas. How wouldn't feel better seeing thomas blow "smoke" from his smkokestack. My son is a huge Thomas fan. Drugstore.com had this on an amazing sale last year for $9.99. It usually retails for around $40 so that was a great price. I scooped it up and didn't even use it the first winter we recived it.

The follwoing winter and this fall we started to use it. It is easy to clean, and sits flat on the floor. It is of course the shape of a Thmoas Train which is one of the reasons the kids love it. Since kid's like it, they don't be afraid of it if it were to make noise, but since it is almost silent that shouldnt be a problem with this product.

I know familes who have to force their kids to sleep with it on, or the kids want to sleep in their parents bed if they have to turn the humidifer. Since I'm not having any of that, lol, this works perfect.

I get a little annoyed with humidifiers that state they are "care free". I don't think there is such a thing. Even if you don't have to replace or clean a filter, anything that has water standing in it I believe will get water buildup deposits that should be cleaned.

Which is what I found with this Hunter "Care Free" Humidifier Plus. Yes, I don't have to replace filters which is nice, but the slimy deposits left by the water in the tank and tray still have to be clean out. I usually end up having to do this weekly, and the thing is so big that I usually end up doing it in the bathtub so I don't make a mess.

However, I do like the size just because of the capacity to hold enough water to not have to constantly replace the water daily. We only use ours at night in the kids room. It is a bit noisier than some, so we keep it on low (3 settings total) which is more than ample for the size of bedroom they are in, and its actually nice that way because it doubles as a fan noise which...

My parents used a vaporizer all the time when I was younger, so when my son got congested, we bought this Vicks Warm Mist Vaporizer to help him breathe. We also have a cool mist humidifier. The doctor said that usually those are best to use, but in some cases, the warm mist works best, so we have and use both. I like to use the warm one particularly when its colder outside, as it keeps his room warmer during the night. I also like the features of this one where you can add Vicks liquid to the water or put some in the little tray on top.

However, the biggest problem we've had with this vaporizer is that it seems to struggle a bit with getting the water warmed up and producing steam. The instructions say that if it doesn't work at first, to try adding a little salt to the water. We've had a use it almost every time, and keep adding salt. I assume this may be something having to do wiht our water, but its a bit annoying. Once it does get going however, its amazing how little...

The Honeywell 2 Gallon Moisturizer/Humidifier is a godsend.

It gives me natural relief from dry air. It fills the whole room and I sleep better and I feel better when I'm awake.

The two moisture output settings lets me easily control the amount of moisture I want released.

It has a clear tank so that I can easily momitor the water level. It has the unique Protec Antimicrobial treated filter so that I know that there's no danger of the growth on algae, fungus, mold or bacteria. I find that very reassuring.

It has an easy grip handle that makes it easy to carry and easy to refill. The base is even dish washer safe.

The Honeywell 2 Gallon Moisturizer/Humidifier comes with a limited five year warrantee. The owner's manual isn't too technical. I found it easy to understand and use.

I can't tell you what a difference this product has made in my life. Even if you feel that you might need a big humidifier, you'll find that this will give you all you need.

Picked these up on a clearance rack at Target near the end of the season - paid approximately $5 for a double pack. While they aren't the hottest in home decor, they get the job done, and are remarkably easy to clean and refill. The tank is small enough that it is not heavy when 100% full, yet large enough that it can go a few days (on the lowest setting) without being refilled. Even while constantly on, the filters have lasted a good three-six months, and are available just about everywhere for $3-5 each.

The Crane Adorable Humidifiers are really cute. My kids love them. It makes having a cold a little more tolerable. They are easy to fill and clean and they run for a long time on one fill. They are reasonably priced and seem to last quite a while. We've had the Hello Kitty model, the frog model, the cow model and the frog model. The hello kitty model stopped working after a year or so, but we used it EVERY night during that year. The cow one bit the dust as well, but that is after my husband dropped the water tank on accident. Even then, I'm surprised that it broke. The plastic seems very hard and durable. The adjustment range for the humidity output is great. It has a wide range. It claims to be able to humidify a 500 square foot space. While I've not tried it in a space this large, I imagine that this is true. When I go into my kids rooms after these have been running, it is very, very "foggy".

My husband and I were in the market for a humidifier after mistakenly thinking we didn't need one living so close to Lake Michigan and leaving our ancient (but wonderful) Sears model behind. We found ourselves in the humidifier aisle at Bed Bath & Beyond, and the nice styling and ultrasonic features sold us immediately. The nearly $200 price tag is what held us back, but we eventually decided that the 10 year warranty and no-need-to clean features were worth it.

And they were, for the first winter. But alas, during the second winter, the humidifier refused to humidify. The digital sensor just blinked and no mist came out. Once or twice, the machine seemed to reset after being turned off/unplugged/new water, but when it became a problem, a quick Google search enlightened us - the "Maintenance Free Box" needed to be replaced. Another Google search helped us track down the elusive "Maintenance Free Box" - for $30 plus shipping! Heck, we could buy a new cheapie humidifier for that price - but...

Vicks Humidifier - 1.5 Gallon - V150

is a staple in my family. Living in the South the air gets unhelpfully humid and makes it hard to breathe. In a controlled environment, this in addition to Vicks Vapor rub makes the perfect weapon to combat that. Also, any newborn, small child needs a balanced environment. If a room is too dry that dehydrates the child and causes his body to work harder to keep their insides lubricated properly. If an environment is too damp, that causes further congestion and inhibits clear passage ways for breathing.

My only issue is that it spurts water if accidentally overfilled (burn hazard). This is difficult when refilling at 4 a.m. in the dark with a toddler that sleeps lightly at that hour.

This product is great for keeping the balance.

A week ago sunday we adopted a one year old cat at the Humane Society. It's very common for cats who spend time in close quarters with other cats to come down with a virus which is especially triggered by stress. Our adorable playful cat within days was inactive and not eating. Along with a high fever the cat became very congested leaving it no sense of smell, unable to eat. The vet suggested a humidifier to help the cats breathing, treating it just like you would a congested child. We purchased a Vicks Humidifier for two main reasons. I totally trust the Vicks brand when it comes to products for colds and the cost was reasonable, and affordable in these tough economic times. I was surprised because there are so many others out there much more expensive and this little humidifier does a great job. This humidifier was exactly what we needed. It not only helps to create the environment we need for our kids, but also is exceptionally quiet during operation. We placed a hygrometer (available at specialty stores for less than $25) in the "target" room to see if the humidifier was actually working and how long the humidity levels would remain where we desired them. Our results, though only done over a couple of days, showed that this model was exceptional at raising the huimidity level, then keeping it there.

I used to wake up with a dry throat and dry sinuses every morning. Now, thanks to the Crane Humidifier, I don't. I love this humidifier because it is easy to use. Just take the top off, fill with water and replace. There are no filters to clean or change if you don't want to. If you do prefer a filter, you can get one for very little money, I think around eight dollars. This humidifier puts out a nice, steady cool stream of mist which is great for use in the summer. I didn't want a humidifier that would be warm since I hate heat! The only thing someone might have a problem with is the trickling noise the humidifier makes when turned up all the way. The noise isn't very loud and I actually find it soothing, but others might find it annoying. Another great thing about this humidifier is that it is super cute.

Pros: large capacity, easy to use, super cute, no filters to clean or change, doesn't leak

Cons: slight trickling noise when turned on high

The Honeywell 4 gallon Humidifier is highly reliable, and gives needed moisture to rooms. It is very quiet, and requires only low routine maintenance. I have used other brands, and they have broken down in one way or another after using for awhile, but the Honeywell Humidifier is here for the duration. you don't have to worry about it malfunctioning, it runs like a well oiled clock. It's 4 gallon capacity effectively moisturizes a room and you don't have to refill it all the time. I use one in every room in my house, excluding the bathrooms. I have a lotm of allergies and sinus problems in the winter, and dry heat in the winter from the furnace, always used to make them even worse, but with Honeywell Humidifier, I have been able to breathe better in the winter months, and not have to worry about sinus infections from dry furnace heat, or a dry throat and eyes from the furnace heat. The Kaz Relion Warm Moisture Humidifier gets the job done, but should not be your first choice for humidifiers.

The upside: It does a good job of making a room humid. It is fairly easy to fill the tank. It has an automatic shutoff so it does not run when the tank is empty. It is easy to turn on and off (a large knob is used to turn the humidifier on and off). The tank is very well sealed and does not leak.

The downsides: It is extremly hard to clean. You are supposed to wipe it down everyday and run vinegar through it once a week and clean it with bleach once a week. This was a huge downside for me, since I do not have the time to do all that cleaning. If you do not do the cleaning large amounts of scale build up. Also, it does not run for the amount of time that is expected, which is unfortunate. While it is easier to fill than many humidifiers, it can not be filled completly in a normal bathroom sink (it is too tall).

My 13 month old daughter was sick again with a winter cold. My Doctor suggested a cool mist humidifier for her room and said any old kind will do as long as it was cool mist. I knew I did not want to spend a lot of money and I looked around at a few then decided on the Kaz Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier style # V420. It is perfect for kids rooms and It came with a clean air filter.

It is quiet so I don't need to worry about waking up my daughter when it runs at night. It lasts up to 12 hours before needing to be refilled. It is really easy to put together and very easy to clean. Also it is easy to fill up with little or no spills. There is no on/off switch- it starts when it is plugged in. You will be saving energy by having to unplug it to turn it off.

Price point: I picked it up for $21.00 and it came with $3.00 worth of coupons for Vicks products. If you are in the market for a cool mist humidifier I would recommend this one.

I received the Air-O-Swiss U7142 1.98 Gallon Humidifier as a gift, after a doctor recommended that I start using a humidifier. I live in a dry environment and have sinus problems.

On first glance, the unit looks like Mercedes of humidifiers; it looks high-tech, sleek, and shiny. It worked well in the beginning, but suddenly stopped working all together. The customer service number provided was laughable. I had to give them a lot of personal information and receipt/ purchase information...and they still could not replace the unit. Luckily, the store at which it bought did take it back, and I was given a replacement humidifier.

When it works, it works well. It is extremely quiet and has a nice stream of moisture. You can choose the level of humidity desired (and displays current humidity level), and it has a useful timer option. It is, however, extremely temperamental, and often needs a new filter, new silver ion stick, and need to be cleaned (with Air-O-Swiss...

We got this Crane humidifier after we continued to have dry skin and dry throats all winter long. I read the reviews on this on many different sites and it got the best reviews. Eventhough it's a kids humidifier, I figured I didn't care, as long as it worked. It definnitely is the best humidifier I've ever had. I did have to return my first one because it started to get loud at night but my replacement is whisper quite and I dont' hear it at night at all! I love it! I also love the cute shape and I don't care if it's for kids. This is definitely a humidifer that you have to put on a night stand or on a dresser but it makes up for it. I haven't had any problems with leaks, etc. and I love that it has an automatic shutoff and doesn't keep running like my last humidifiers did. I also love that it doesnt' require a filter like others. You just need to keep it clean but you can easily clean all parts.

I bought the Sunbeam Health At Home humidifier because my bedroom gets very dry when the heat is on in the winter. It was reasonably priced at $24.99 and has worked very well for the past two winters. The motor is very quiet (which is ideal for use while sleeping) and there is an optional "Nightview" inner tank light which could double as a nightlight in a child's room. The cool mist output can be directed without moving the base unit and the unit is easy to fill with a wide opening for adding water. The box states it will provide up to 27 hours of continuous operation with only one tank fill; however, I've found that I usually need to fill it every other night. Also, there is no way to control the amount of mist output - the unit is either on or off. Still, for the price I paid, the Sunbeam Health At Home humidifier has done an excellent job maintaining a level of moisture in the air and I'm pleased with the purchase.

I love the penguin! Crane's One Gallon Penguin Cool Mist Humidifier waddled into my life as a whimsical gift from my old roommate. We soon discovered, however, that he improved our lives ten-fold!

We lived in an older apartment building constructed circa 1920 and the air was always bone dry. It didn't help that we had to run the radiator most of the year because of the cold Minnesota weather, either. After suffering from dry winter skin and going through gallons of heavy duty lotion, we decided to invest in a humidifier.

One day when I got home from work, I found the penguin on our kitchen table puffing away. His soft, cool mist came right out of his little beak and on the lowest setting, he could go for hours. When we woke up the next morning, there was a marked difference in our skin. Not only that, but when other people were coming down with bronchial infections, coughs and colds, we both felt great!

My husband and I recently moved from Texas to Pennsylvania in the middle of winter. The dry air immediatly dried our skin and sinus. When we went shopping for a cool mist humidifier, it wasn't the first time. We each suffer from seasonal alergies. Our doctor suggested a cool mist humidifier for our two year old son, and my husband uses a humidifier nightly on his sleep apnea machine.

We decided we needed a new cool mist humidifier because our previous machines either had problems with flaking at the water source or mold growth (don't store them under the sink). We agreed on a few things, it had to fill up without removing the tank and it had to be budget friendly. We looked in every local store we could, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Sears, and the other mall stores. It was a nightmare. Winter is here. And one of the worst things to happen is head congestion - the everyday common cold. I've been a believer in Vicks' products since childhood when dear old Mom nursed me back to health.

This Vicks V200 holds 2 full gallons & will definitely last through the night spreading that soothing relief. It has a built in night light, good for young ones or adults who wake up in the middle of the night. Just by itself...the warm air mist helps a cold. Toss in some Vicks VapoRub and Mr. Head Cold is going, going...gone.

Prices may vary, but Walgreens sells a 1.5 gallon model for a mere $19.99. I've had mine now for several years. And, unfortunately, I've also had to use it at least once a year. In my humble opinion...one of the better cold remedy products on the market.
