SpokaneMan says "A Nice Personal Fan Built For Your Desktop" about Lasko Platinum Desktop Wind Tower

We went to the store looking to purchase one small desk fan, and liked the display model of the Lasko Platinum Desktop Wind Tower that we ended up buying two of them for our house. The reason we started liking them so much, was that there are two sections to the fan, allowing you to point the fan in two directions at the same time. If you take a look at the product picture, you can see the separation between the top grill and bottom grill to the fan. This allows you to alter the direction that both are facing, and to really get a nice breeze in your room.

This is a really great desktop fan, because it allows you to circulate air around a room faster, and while it is oscillating, you are doubling up just how well the fan is "working the room." The fan comes pre-assembled and you just have to take it out of the box and plug it in, and have front mounted controls that allow you to select which speed you want the fan to work. There are three speeds to this Lasko desktop fan, and...
...

theladyiscrazy says "Brookstone Mighty Max Fan Tower is the only fan you need" about Brookstone Mighty Max Fan Tower

The Brookstone Mighty Max Fan Tower is between three and four feet tall and about six inches wide. It is tall enough to put out air in a higher level than most floor fans, yet slim enough to be put over in a corner, out of the way.

It has three fan speeds, to put forth the desired level air in the room. It also oscillates, if you wish or you can make it stand still in one direction. It does have a timer and you can select different modes. It comes with a remote control, so you can change things from across the room.

I love this as I tend to be hot-natured, whereas the rest of my family tends to be colder. I can set this so it blows directly on me, without it being on top of me. I have it in my living room which is a twenty foot by twenty foot. It is a large room, yet this one fan can cool it down quickly. It is even more effective than my two ceiling fans. It is quiet and it also doesn't scare my cats.

The only downside is it can be a little on the expensive side.
...

I had no idea ceiling fans were so cheap! When I went to Lowes to find a small ceiling fan to fit above my dining table, I was almost certain that it would cost us a bundle. Then I looked up and saw the Harbor Breeze 30" White Breezeway Ceiling Fan and said that is the one! For only around $30, this fan was exactly what I needed.

We don't have a lot of space above my dining table since it is close to a wall, so we couldn't get a very big fan. I had never seen such a small ceiling fan before so I was really excited to find one that was only 30" around. We installed a remote into the fan, even though technically it isn't supposed to use one. It's so small so we did have to manipulate it a bit to fit the remote control in. My dad used double sided sticky tape to hold it inside so it won't hit the fan's motor. It could be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing, so be careful with that! We didn't have much choice since there was no switch hooked to this fan and we...
...

So you think fans are just for summer? No way! The Honeywell High Velocity Turbo Force Table Fan Model HT-800 is better than even its name indicates. And the advance of cooler weather doesn't mean this baby goes in storage.

The Honeywell Turbo Force Fan's a regular little powerhouse when it comes to evacuating smoke from a room. You say you've never had a fireplace fire and forgotten to open the damper? (Lucky you, if not.) But if you do, think twice about opening every window in the house on a cold evening. The Turbo Fan, faced outward in a single window and blasting at the highest of its three speeds, will give you a tremendous head start on clearing the air.

I have a little newer version of the Galaxy box fan than in the picture but same concept. The blades are wider so it blows more air than the older style fans. It is very easy to take apart and clean. It also came with feet that snap on the back so it doesn't tip over when you set it on something or even carpet. You can turn it on the highest speed and it won't fall over. I really like this feature. My old one was always falling over so i would have to turn it off when i wasn't home. I can leave this one on and have no worries. i can get a screwdriver take off the front and back panels clean them and put them right back on with ease. It is lightweight and easy to carry downstairs. I really like this model of fan compared to the old one and with the wider blades it puts out more air. It is also very affordable. I was able to find it at my local Dollar General for $16 when most are $20 and do not have the feet that attach on the back. I would recommend this product to everyone who likes this...
...

I recently bought a home that does not have air conditioning, which I am accustomed to having! Luckily we have only have had a few hot days so far and this Lakewood Kool Operator Junior Fan has helped keep me cool.

First off I chose this Lakewood fan based on experience with the brand - they are usually good products. The Kool Operator fan is a modest size of only about 6'' across. But it packs quite a punch with its features, which are the following:

3 Speeds

Up-Down Pivoting ability

5-bladed fan

Durable construction

The 3 speeds are nice depending on why I'm using the fan. If I'm just sitting still, low is fine. But if I'm working around the house and it's hot the high speed works best. The size of fan is also perfect for sitting in my windows, which the base fits on the ledge.

I think the 5 blades also help propel a lot of air. When it gets cranking this Lakewood fan really creates a nice breeze. I don't use the pivot feature too much, but it's nice to have it available. ...
...

bkovacs says "Works great but tricky to install" about Hampton Bay Midili 44-inch Ceiling Fan

When I added a room to my home a few years ago, I made a couple of mistakes with the ceiling lighting. The room, which is now the dining room, doesn't have enough light and the lights that it has are a little too close to the ceiling fan. Because the lights are a bit too close, it causes some flickering in places where the light from the ceiling fixtures passes through the blades of the ceiling fan.

Another problem I created in this room was the way I wired the ceiling fan. I ran a single-circuit wire to the fan instead of a dual-circuit. This makes it much more difficult to have a fan with an integrated light fixture, as there is no easy way to control the light separately from the fan. One way to fix this is to get a ceiling fan/light combo that has a wireless remote control, so I found myself buying the Hampton Bay Midili 44-inch Ceiling Fan, which comes with a wireless remote control for both the fan speed and light. I paid $110 for the Midili at Home Depot.

This one comes with remote control which is very helpful. This came as a bundle with another small fan. I use both the fans and it works great. Thanks to my friend who bought me this one.
bkovacs says "Is that fan really running?" about Pelonis WFT9 9-Inch Dual Window Fan

Summer days can be scorching where I live, but the nights are often comfortable. If only we had a good fan to draw cool outside air into the bedroom at night, we'd use a lot less air conditioning.

We started looking for a suitable fan and found the Pelonis WFT9 Dual 9-Inch window fan at Home Depot for around $22, which I thought was pretty cheap.

What it is

The Pelonis WFT9 fan is a plastic assembly that holds two 9-inch fans. The case of the fan is molded as one piece with the fan grilles. At the bottom. between the two fans, are controls that include a three-speed switch for each fan, a thermostat and a switch that adjusts the fan to blow in or out.

On one side of the fan case is a snap-on extension to fit wide windows. On the other side is a pull-out barrier that can also be expanded to fit wide windows. The bottom line is that the Pelonis WFT9 will fit windows from 24 to 33 inches wide. The unit needs a vertical window opening of at least 12 inches high.

I am definitelyall about keeping cool! Having a fan or two in my home is a very important part of keeping cool, especially in the hot summer months. My very favorite fan is the LASKO 20 In. Cyclone® Power Circulator with Remote Control. How cool is the remote control? I love that I can adjust the intensity of the fan without getting out of bed. I have a very small air conditioner that really only keeps my living room clean, so having this fan in my bedroom is a must. If you don't want to sleep all night with the fan on, this model has a handy timer feature. It allows you to choose from 2, 4, or 8 hour blocks of time, whichever works for you. The fan is adjustable, and rotates up or down about 90 degrees. A handle on the top allows for easy carrying, and the fan is relatively lightweight. The fan is attractive and small enough to not dominate whichever room it is in, like some of the large box fans do. Don't let that fool you though- the power this thing puts out is intense!
...

The fan works just fine and the remote and timer are nice features. However, this fan is very very loud! The low setting sounds like the high setting on most fans and it is a bit stronger than what low should be. The breeze option is more annoying than anything. It seems to work by turning the fan on and off... I guess because a breeze isn't constant? This would probably be fine - maybe even nice - if the fan wasn't so loud! So the fan gets soft then loud, soft then loud. It is not a feature I wiil ever use because of this.I also purchased a Soleus fan with remote for my roommate. I bring them both up, because they are both terrific fans depending on your likes. The Honeywell is very powerful and moves a lot of air; this fan is louder because of it. The other fan is much quieter, but doesn't push as much air. I am happy with mine because I don't mind it being a little louder- and in my case with my window facing a well travelled road the sound is enough to drown out the traffic noise, while...
...

I bought two of these fans, and they stand at either end of my couch. The same remote works for both of them, so I leave one in the handy slot on the fan and keep one by the couch. They produce only a small amount of white noise, which makes them perfect for when I sleep on the couch. The ionizer is effective, if I burn food in the kitchen I just set them both to High and the smell and smoke clears out pretty quickly. They are better in groups, but I would think a single fan would work well also.

The Honeywell Turbo, High Performance Fan is great overall. It is a small compact design that packs a huge punch and is a great value. My problems are that it does not oscilate (although it is not advertised to do so), and it does not really have a low setting. There are three variable speeds, but I have never turned it past low. If the fan is pointed directly at me, even if it is hot inside, it becomes too much. This is coming from an extremely hot natured person. The fan dies have a little bit of noise issues. For me personally, this is an advantage. I work in a cubical and appreciate the noise to drown out others conversations, but I felt it important because I imagine the majority would hold this as a disadvantage. Another disadventage, at least when I bought it, was the lack of color options. My only choice was black. I would much rather have a tower fan if money were no issue, but for the value, i would make this purchase again.
...

Honeywell Fresh Breeze tower fan has plenty of really outstanding options to it that make it appear to be very useful. However, none of these options really seem to work! The fan has three different power sets, depending on how cool the room already is and what kind of setting you want to be in. It also has a temperature control setting, which does NOT work at all. You have the option of setting the temperature to whatever you want, but it can't seem to get any lower than 75 in my warm Florida room. It also has the oscolation feature, which is standard on any fan, so it's not that noticeable compared to any other similar product. So let's no go jumping out of our seats about, as it is pretty typical - though the box likes to suggest otherwise. One great thing about it is that it has a remote control for the person in bed or busy doing something at the other end of the room. It has a flashlight on it, but unfortunately, the flashlight only points out at the fan, so you can't actually...
...

shananigan88 says "this fan really works hard and cools you" about Honeywell Fan - Turbo High Performance Fan

My dorm room at school is very tempermental when it comes to temperature. We have our own heating and cooling system and our own thermostat, but it just like any dorm it doesn't work that well and never seems to get to the eact cooling or heating temperature that you want. Therefore, I was looking for a small fan to keep in my room to help with temperature needs. This Honeywell fan works out great. It has three different settings and moves up and down. Plus, I've never had any problems with it working. If anything I sometimes have to turn it down because it does its job too well. The only problem that I have is that it collects dust and the only way to clean it is a Swiffer duster or feather duster of some sort. However, my main problem is the noise. It is very loud and sometimes I even have to turn it off because I cannot hear my computer music. I would recomend this fan to anyone who is looking for a small fan to give them an extra cooldown.
...

reitos says "A little more expensive but this fan is worth it!" about Air King Fans - 9230 Fan

I really do not like the heat... no that is not the right words, I HATE the heat. I think I would be happy retiring to the north pole. But I am also cheap, and I can't be running that air conditioning all the time, so I decided to look for a good fan. I bought several other cheap fans and they all died or broke, or were just not powerful enough to blow a single leaf away, so finally my dad was tired of hearing me complain and bought me this big bad fan. Now I've bought another one and I couldn't be more happy. I set one up at the back door and one up at the front and my house is like a whirlwind, it stays nice a cool at-least compared to outside and they have lasted a lot longer then the cheap generic fans I bought in the past. I recomend this fan to all my friends, and when they are wise enough to listen to me they always come back and thank me for it. I hear my dad has one set up in his brand new shed to keep it cool and it works really well even though it's the only circulation in his...
...

SpokaneMan says "12 inch Lasko Table Fan - A Great fan from a trustworthy company" about Lasko 12 Inch Table Fan

In a house without air conditioning, fans are one of my best friends. Propped up in the bedroom window is one of the 12 inch Lasko Table Fans, which helps bring in a lot of cool air at night. Sure its not the ideal window fan, or the intended use for one of these type of fans, but it gives a unique angle that actually works better than a window box fan. It's not too heavy to maneuver though, coming in under 10 pounds of weight. The total height of the fan is probably around 2 feet, and it will extend off a ledge if you place it there.

The fan itself is made of a thick white plastic, and a nice heavy base to keep it from tipping over (or falling off the windowsill). I waited until the fan was turned as far as it could to the right, and then place it up into the window so that the air was pointed towards the front of the room. The diameter of the fan is 12 inches, giving a nice area of air flow to any place that you decide to use it. On the front of the base is the control switch that is...
...

ChadFitzgerald says "Everyone should use this fan from CD Technology" about CD Technology CDT10, Solar Powered Attic Fan

As more and more of us are doing what we can to lower our cost of living, maybe this is one you havent thought of yet.

My home was built in 1954, it has an unfinshed attic, the attic is well insulated, but has only two small gable vents. When spring and summer rolls around, I could hold my hand up to the ceiling and feel the heat comeing through the drywall.

We wanted to find a way to combat this problem and give our AC unit a bit of a break. We found several solar powered attic fans searching the internet. We found CD Technology offered a 10watt fan that would suit our needs. There are different sizes depending on the square footage of your home.

The CDT10 model is a gable vented fan, that is very easy to install. It has a solar panel that can be fixed to your roof top or you can position the fan unattached. The CD10 model comes with all you will need to connect and start useing the first day.

In indirect light this fan will run at half speed, full sun will bring the fan to max. We found...
...
