This dehumidifier works very well. My house doesn't feel nearly as humid since we have been using it. My only complaint is that the tank is very small and we dump it twice a day. But it was $50 cheaper than the bigger one and worth the...

allisonmud says "Efficient, but heats up the room!" about GoldStar GHD 30-pint Dehumidifier

This was the cheapest dehumidifier we could get at Home Depot. We have a finished basement in our small house so we thought it was good enough. — While it does the job, and frankly is powerful enough for our size house, it kicks out so much hot air that in the hot summer months, I really feel my AC has to make up for it. I figure my energy costs are twice what the dehumidifier consumes as a result. — Dehumidifiers can get expensive, so if the hot air isn't an issue, this is a decent unit to buy. It's dependable and I don't think it needs to be emptied too often. — I do wish it would shut off a little easier. It seems when I turn it on it runs until it's full. I guess our place is that humid! —...

I was in need of a dehumidifier because of my other one had failed to work. We had a tremendous amount of rain and a lot of humidity in the air, this thing works like a champ. It is a bit noisier than my other one, but the performance is much better than my original one. Very worth the amount of money it retailed...

Our old dehumidifier "poofed" and died... — We use the dehumidifier in our basement of a colonial. The GoldStar is doing a great job. It is a bit noisy, but since it's in the basement, I really don't care. We use a hose to drain it into our sump, so the basket is not a problem at all. — Overall, it is great for the $139 it cost at Home Depot....

Krazylady says "This great appliance dried my basement up in a jiffy." about Comfort-Aire Dehumidifier Model #BHD-301

In January of this year, our town experienced the worst flood ever. I was one of the lucky ones and had only 5 feet of water in my basement. Many people had that much in their living areas. However, when the water went down, I was left with an inch of mud and everything was wet and nasty. I bought this dehumidifier and hooked it up to a hose to my floor drain. It was important to get it dried out as fast as possible to eliminate the possibility of mold and mildew. This ran day and night and in less than a week, my mud had dried up and could be shoveled out. There is no musty smell and everything is dry to the touch. It runs occasionally, so I know it's keeping everything dry. It's not noisy and not too heavy for this lady to move around. It has wheels and the dials are easy to read and understand. I highly recommend this appliance to anyone who has a humidity...

Ednsherry71 says "Excellent product for the money" about Kenmore 54701 Dehumidifier

I have seen the dehumidifiers at other stores that may be a little cheaper but smaller, and it doesn't even have a recommended name brand standing behind it. I would pay a little more for a brand that I trust than a little less for a brand I don't know anything about. This Kenmore Dehumidifier has really been a name that I can trust and...

Jo says "It's working day and night so I don't sneeze" about GoldStar GHD 30-pint Dehumidifier

To the Point — — We had two dehumidifiers in our basement. That area tends to be damp. Over a year ago we bought a GoldStar Model Number GHD30. — — A Closer View — We bought this one basically for two reasons: it was small and it was inexpensive. The cost was around $140. We wanted it small because it sits on top of a file cabinet. At 15 inches wide by about 13 inches deep and 21 inches tall this fit the bill. — When we came home from vacation our house was musty especially the basement. The GoldStar has been working day and night and it's doing a great job. It's in one finished room; the others are in the unfinished area. — It's easy to use. All that is on the unit is the speed fan which gives me two speeds, an auto shut-off light and a humidity control knob. It holds 30 pints of water which are easily emptied by removing the water bucket which is in the front of the unit. It has a handle so it's easy to carry to the downstairs bathroom....

ducktight says "Problems within 2 months" about GoldStar DH504ELY7 Dehumidifier

Before I bought this dehumidifier I was talking to a salesman and I asked him if the one he carried was quiet. He replied that it was only quiet while the unit was off! I thanked him for his honesty and realized that a quiet dehumidifier is probably an unrealistic expectation. Given that, this one is noisy but probably no noisier than any other. — I bought Goldstar DH50 and it seemed to work OK for the first two months. But then it started cycling every three minutes after it reached the humidity level that I set. On/Off/on/off/on/off etc…….. — Thinking that this might not be healthy for the unit and my electric bill I called Goldstar and asked if this was normal. Phone number (800) 243.0000 — The nice guy in India/Pakistan went through all the normal stuff that didn’t answer my question and we finally came to finding a repair place. All the places that he suggested were too far away. I was thinking that I might just take it back to the...

bkovacs says "The first one died, so I got another... and it blows backward!" about GoldStar GHD 30-pint Dehumidifier

I bought a new house in 2000 and quickly learned that the basement smelled damp and musty. The cure was a dehumidifier and I bought an inexpensive GoldStar DH3010B, a model that is now obsolete. The DH3010B worked fine for about six years, then the unit's fan seized. I fixed it without too much trouble but it seized again in a few months. Time to get a new dehumidifier. I have another dehumidifier (in another house), and it's been working fine for 15 years -- and continues to work. I thought six years was an unexpectedly short life for a dehumidifier. — — I looked at several stores but the best deal was on another GoldStar model, the GHD30. This is GoldStar's bottom-of-the-line unit with the capacity to remove 30 pints of water per day. That's all I need in my basement, so I bought the GHD30 for $140 at Home Depot. — — I show the control panel in the pictures above. The round knob is a humidistat, which switches the GHD30 on and off depending on the ambient...
