The Honeywell air purifier is perfect for any small room.My husband smokes, and we have a dog and a cat.My husband the dog and the cat all hang out in the same room. The family room.Between the cigarette smoke, and the cat and dog dander, lets just say the air in this room is not exactly ideal for my allergies.thats where the Honeywell air purifier 16200 HEPA COMES IN.I bought this air purifier to put in the family room to help with the allergens and the odor.I was impressed. The honeywell 16200 HEPA air purifier cleared the air of dust, allergens, and more importantly the odors. It really seemed to help my allergies by removing from the air cat and dog dander, and mold spores.I used the Ionizer for extra cleaning power to help freshen the air even more. The Honeywell 16200 HEPA air purifier uses ODOR-LOCK filter technology to help remove common household odors. The air purifier fits great on a tabletop and is designed to fit in even small spaces.
...

Cost more than most but a good unit, except for the water tank design. Must turn tank upside down to fill. The tank is about 18 inches tall and has a large capacity (3 gallons), and it has a POINTED TOP. So to fill it, you turn it upside down and hold it steady in a bathtub... there is no real easy way to do this. I was filling it up in a wet bathtup and (no surprise) the pointed tip slipped on the bottom of the tub... the tank fell over and then cracked. Very sad to see such a fatal/poor design in an otherwise nice unit.
...

karriskylakeely says "It does work, kinda. " about Ionic Pro Ionic Purifier

I bought the Ionic Pro a few years ago hoping that it would help with my dust problem. We have two dogs and three children, so the dust is a never-ending battle. It does work, to a point. Let me explain. When I pick up the "rods" that collect the dust, they always have dust on them. The instructions say to wash it off with soapy water, but I find it more conveint and works just as good if you use a baby wipe or antibacterial wipe. My problem with it, even though it does clean, is that it does not clean enough. I can tell it collects dust, but you can not tell the difference in my house that it is here. Granted, yes I have dust, but I am always cleaning so it is not that my house it dirty. In fact, I bought the Ionic Pro to help keep in more clean.

Plus, when it needs cleaning, it has this annoying staticy sound. While I am glad I know it needs cleaning, I'd rather see a flashing light than a sound.
...

Tiramisu says "Leaves an odor in room" about Honeywell True Hepa Air Purifier

The Honeywell True Hepa Air Purifier seems to work well but it leaves an odor in the room. I have not been able to identify the odor (not sure if it is carbon). I've run the filter a few hours a day for many days. The odor is bothering me so much that I find that I don't want to use the air purifier, making it a waste of money for me. Also, the noise is too loud to run at night, even on the low setting.

Honeywell states that the True Hepa Air Purifier has an activated carbon pre filter to capture large particles and help reduce odor. The True Hepa filter captures particles as small as 0.3 microns, Surroundseal technology to help minimize air leaks, and a powerful fan motor to draw in room air and release cleaner air 360 degrees.

I recommend that you run the air purifier all day for 1 week after you buy it and if you find that there is still a noticeable odor, return the purifier for a refund.
...

I am not a winter lover so here in the Pacific Northwest when it comes November/December time, I am living in fear! The cold air does not sit well in my lungs and last year I had a cough for over 3 months! After purchasing this humidifier my cough was gone within days! And this year when I started to get the achy, scratchy throat symptoms, the humidifier came out of hibernation mode and healed me once again.

It is a little noisy, and it confuses me sometimes because I feel like its raining cats and dogs outside, but its actually the machine! But it can also be taken as a soothing sound, like a bubbling brook - the kind of sounds some people even buy on CD to help them sleep! I personally like it dead quiet and pitch black, but I also prefer not to have a cough, so I had to take the noisiness of this machine over coughing out a lung.

I also take issue with how big it is and how often it needs to be cleaned. Other than that it has served me well...
...

I suffer from severe asthma, and this purifier really helped. It clears the air very quickly and the filters arent that expensive. The filter lasts about one month and then is done. It offer three different settings so that if you dont like loud noise you can turn it down. It is relativily cheap compared to other filters and does a great job. It is very small and can be hidden very well as it stands up. Changing the filter is very easy and allows for easy access to determine if it is still working. The filters price is very nice because all other filters i have had are very expensive and do the exact same thing. The filters cost around 14 dollars and are easy to find in your local walmart or target. The hamilton beach comes in multiple sizes. I am currently using their medium size and it works great. There are much larger ones and i would think about getting one for bigger rooms through out the house. Over all it is a great product for its price and i would reccomend it.
...

I have Seasonal Allergies. In this house lives two dogs, one cat, one ferret and one rabbit. (I also own a horse but he doesn't live in the house although sometimes when he gets loose I see him looking longingly into the window.)

None of the above caused me to consider buying an air purifier but my husband smokes over a pack of cigarettes a day. That sent me to a home improvement store to buy an air purifier.

The first one I saw was priced at $899.00. That almost sent me out the door. Then I went to the Honeywell aisle, the company that had provided me with so many other home appliances. One of the first air purifiers I saw was the HFD 20 Oscillating Tower Air Purifier. A quick look proved that this was a product that would suit my needs. I got a shock when I saw the price tag - $128.00.

It was very easy for me to set up and after 24 hours of use I found that I had made a perfect choice.

There were benefits I could see right away. It was quiet, it got rid of that awful odor of smoke that...
...

Rainbow is a company that sells some of the best vaccuums I have ever known of, so when I heard that they also made air purifiers I had to get one and try it out. The Rainbow Rainmate was the best purchase I think I have ever made for my home. It is small and quiet. All you need is some water and an outlet. You can tell an enormous difference in just an hours time. We smoke in my home and with the Rainbow Rainmate, it helps with the smoke and odor of smoking in our home. You can tell its working also by the way the water will turn a yucky color. It pulls all the nasty things out of the air and throws it into the water so it can not escape like it may with other purifiers that have filters. Another plus to having a air purifier that filters through water is getting to put scents into the water. You can get concentrated liquid potpourri and place a few drops in the water. The room just fills with the scent! The Rainbow Rainmate is just amazing. We now have two and are thinking...
...

We bought the Bionaire Humidifier after our baby was born since we heard a humidifier was best for newborns. Although I think a humidifier for everybody is a good idea! There were so many humidifiers to choose from that it was really hard to choose! But my husband actually chose this one after reading the pros and cons about it. If you care about the quality and the performance of your humidifier, it's best to do some research and test it out before you make a purchase.

We liked it in the beginning and it worked really well, but afater a few times, the filter had to be cleaned right away! So we cleaned it (it was a very painstaking job!) and then after a few more uses, the filter needed to be cleaned again! So, if you use your humidifier every day, then this one will need to have its filter cleaned on a regular basis.

The motor is quite loud, but we liked it because it made good white noise for our baby to help him sleep. It's also pretty big but it covers a pretty big area unlike the...
...

I have an ionic pro that I would not want to live without. It runs very quite and when you walk in the house you can tell it has been running. You can actually feel the "clean" air. When I turned my furnace on this year, I had the ionic pro running and I didn't even smell the "first turned on furnace" smell that I usually smell (dusty smell) . My home seems to stay less dusty and all smells (cooking, etc) are eliminated quickly when the ionic breeze is running. I set it in my living room and it really does help my entire home. (apprx 1200 sq ft) I like the option on it that tells me when I need to clean it. It is so simple. A blue light comes on to tell me its time to clean off the metal strips inside. It is very easy to clean also. Just pull out the metal strips by the handles, wipe and replace into the unit. I have recommended it to all my friends. I have actually taken it with me before to stay at a motel. Just to keep the nice clean air smell to sleep better....
...

I rarely write comments, but I use them for most every purchase from Amazon. Since there wasn't much here, I wanted to let everyone know my experiences with the Oreck XL air purifier.

There's only one review on here so far. The guy says he had to clean his machine every day? I've had mine, for awhile now. I've gone a couple weeks to a month and a half without cleaning the cell. Actually after a little more than a month, I just cleaned it last night. All I did was run it under the faucet and it did the job. I will need to clean it with soap and water soon though.

The only reason I can see this machine getting so dirty so fast like the other person says, is if it was in an oil based enviroment where the dirt would pile on and need to be scrubbed off.

Just an example here: My allergies got real bad last night after I had my water heater replaced.
msum865048 says "Eliminates smoke odors." about Holmes Products Holmes HAP424-U Hepa-Type Tower Air Purifier

I gave up smoking awhile back, but when I did smoke, I tried a series of air purifiers and/or ionizers, most of which really did nothing except move around the air in their immediate vicinity.

The one I ended up using for several years was a Holmes tower model. I had several of them, actually. They each lasted about a year and a half if run constantly. The original units cost about $69 at Walmart, and the filters have to be replaced every couple of months to keep them functioning at peak level.

My last one was called a Holmes HAP424-U Hepa-Type Tower Air Purifier. I can recommend it highly for removing smoke odors. It has three speeds and an optional ionizer. I must also caution you that if the ionizer isn't running, then it won't get rid of the smoke smell. I could always tell when someone in my house had turned off the ionizer because then you could smell the cigarette odor again. But as long as that was running, you really couldn't tell any smokers lived there.
...

darharley says "I only wish that I could still buy more ionic breeze air machine" about Ionic Pro quadra

I bought my ionic quadra when I developed breathing problems. When I bought the machine I also received an additional one at half price. I have had many people come in to my home and say they have bought others because they did not think the ionic breeze would circulate the air and were very surprised how you could set by one and feel the air moving and not feel a thing. The other great things is how easy it is to clean. I live on a very busy main road and had to dust every other day and after I bought my machines I dust once every two weeks. I only wish I could buy another one and was shocked to hear that they were going under. I was also shocked that no other company picked up the products. The one I have in my truck also is great. And always makes the air smell so fresh and new. I have had my ionic pro for over eight years and they are still working as well as the I bought them. I recommended this product to all of my family and friends and few did buy them and were as pleased as I was....
...

Honeybee123 says "Works well" about Bionaire BAP1500-U Air Purifier

I am a big believer in air purifiers and the health benefits they have. All my life I have grown up with an air purifier in my house, my brother is an asthma sufferer so my mom always had one to keep the air clean in the house. Since I grew up seeing the benefits to having one, I definitely have one in my home. My oldest boy is an asthma sufferer just like my brother was. I have one of the Bionaire purifiers in his room along with one in my room also. When you open his bedroom door you can tell his air in his room is cleaner and fresher than the air outside of his room. He doesn't have as many asthma flare-ups since using the Bionaire BAP 1500 in his room as he did before. It has been a definite blessing in our home to have this product. Less time at the doctors means more money in my pocket and a healthier happier child. This purifier is not cheap, it was around $170.00. In the long run though it is definitely worth having, especially if you have an asthma sufferer.
...

dianimal says "Like EdenPure's heater, this product is the wave of the future!" about EdenPURE Air Purifier with Ionizer HAP424

EdenPure already makes the best area heater that uses little electricity, and that is why I chose their air purifier. It is absolutely amazing! It was originally purchased when we aquired our second cat (and second poo box). It has also eliminated cigarette smoke, and cooking odors quickly and thoroughly. I specifically like the UV mode which I use when frying fish or baking jerky. The auto feature is very helpful so you don't have to remember when to turn it on. If you leave it on auto feature it can be set for two, four or eight hours and it automatically goes on and off at its set time. I always remember to turn it on, but I frequently forget to turn it off. I only use the UV bulb when there are definite and intruding odors present, and this way you can extend the life of the bulb, which is a tad costly to replace. The filter is non-replaceable, but I take mine apart and wash it under the faucet often. You have to remember to no replace it until it is thoroughly dry, but all-in-all...
...
