Recently my washing machine of 11 years went out (two weeks ago) It was a Sears Kenmore (or to those who know, a Whirlpool). So I found myself out shopping for a new washing machine at our local Sear Hardware and Appliance store. I like the Kenmaore brand since they are made for Sears by Whirlpool and my first one lasted 13 years and I had now had the one I was replacing for 11 years you might say I have had very good luck with this brand. I always purchase the heavy duty model, so that I can wash whatever I want to. I am a firm believer that if I have my own washer I should not have to go to the laundry mat for anything. Upon arriving at Sears I looked over the Kenmores they had to offer along with the Whirlpool brand names. I really did not like any of the ones they had, but was willing to settle for one that was on sale. The salesman told me it was a heavy duty as it did not state it on the machine, but he had a problem. The recent storm had taken out their computers and he could not...
...

magicalmerlin13 says "Horrible Do not buy it you will regret it. " about Bosch Nexxt Washer - 500 Front Load

This is the worst washer ever do not buy it, you will regret it. The collar holds water and does not drain which causes mold to form. This mold is next to impossible to remove. With this " high efficiency" washer I have to run four cycles for each load of laundry. I have to run a bleach load first to try to get rid of the stink (never really goes away) then wash, then spin and then drain cycles and repeat for each load. This washer has ruined my handmade baby blankets and many articles of my and my childrens clothes with streaks of mold that does not come out. When you call Bosch they tell you to leave the door open. Thanks, you do not think I have been doing that. They basically said unless there is a lawsuit they will not do anything. Do not buy this washer you will regret it.
...

pcm says "Class action suit against Whirlpool for mold and mildew w/ Duets" about Whirlpool Duet Washer/Dryer Machines

Whirlpool Duet, Duet Sport and Duet HT front loaders all have a terrible mold and mildew smell during the wash that consumers have brought a class action suit against the company. I thought I was going crazy and it was my septic.I have had to throw out towels because the dishcloth or dish towel would smell coming out of the dryer! I couldn't understand it. I thought it was the kind of towel (microfiber ones). I had the technician come out and he said it was from my 2x concentrate detergent but my washer was fine. The clothes do not clean well and I would never buy Whirlpool again because my dishwasher also does not do a good job cleaning my dishes. I use to love Whirlpool products 15 years ago but after having this washer for only 3 years, I will never buy any Whirlpool item again. Since I just found out about the class action suit and what other consumers have gone through, I now have to go buy another machine because I can not expose my family to mold and mildew on their clothes....
...

I am currently taking Sears Canada to Small Claims Court. I purchased an AC unit from Sears about 2 years ago. I only used it for 2 summers, which is a total of 6 months maximum. This year I turned it on and it was not cooling, this was on April 26th, 2009. It is now July 3rd and EXTREMELY humid and hot in Montreal, Quebec and I am 6 months pregnant and Sears has yet to repair my AC unit!! This is a nightmare, I have called the customer service department at least 30 times and i am not exagerating. I have had 2 service calls where the repairman could not figure out the problem and then on the 3rd service call they told me that the whole evaporator was cracked. They then scheduled me for 2 other appointments and they never showed up. I have spent hours working on case against them to get back my $5000 that I paid them. I have a 6 year warranty for parts and labour that is absolutely worthless! Please i urge you DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SEARS!!!! I wish I never purchased...
...

I've gone thru THREE of these new units (Fridgidaire FDL50) in the past month. My units (all of them) turn on and run for 30 seconds to 3 minutes (after the humidity was reduced to the set point..45%). From that point on, I could here it turn on and run for a minute or so.. turn off for 3-5 minutes, turn back on for 20 seconds, turn off.. The same thing happening over and over. I took the first unit back to the store and received a new one.. It did the exact same thing, so replaced again after talking to Fridgidaire. The THIRD one is now doing the same thing. Either there's a bad batch of them, or they are incredibly inefficient!! If you buy one, be sure to monitor what it's doing after a few days when the humidy is stabilized in your basement.

And another BIG negative is that they are NOT repairable. I found this out after talking with Fridgidaire. "The are too expensive to repair, so we just replace them".. Wow.. Talk about NOT a GREEN company!!! What a waste...
...

ninjasherrie says "OK in a pinch if money is tight; otherwise try another brand" about Dirt Devil Dynamite

I bought this vacuum (Dirt Devil Dynamite) after moving to a location that had wall to wall carpet upstairs after having all hardwood floors. I didn't want to spend a lot, so i picked up the Dirt Devil Dynamite at Wal Mart for like $29.00.

This vacuum is very basic; there are no attachements, no bells and whistles, but it does have HEPA fltration which i thought was good, since i live in dusty Arizona and have a cat. It was simple to assemble and the cord is very long, although it does not have auto rewind for the cord. You must wind and unwind it as needed. Annoying, but for $29.00 what should i expect?

This vacuum is LOUD! Not only is the motor loud enough to make your ears ring, it also emits a high pitched squeal that is grating on the nerves. Sometimes i notice a weird odor but i've checked and can find no belts rubbing or hot parts or smoke, so i guess this is the norm?

Bottom line, this vacuum does a decent job of picking up dirt and pet hair, but it lacks an adjustable...
...

RoobyBegonia says "Civilized professional-quality machine" about Janome Memory Craft 6600 Professional

If you are serious about garment sewing, crazy for quilting, a hard-core heavy fabric sewist, or you want to make delicate heirloom baby clothes - this machine will do it all. Janome scored bigtime when they designed this machine - as evidenced by selling the same machine for the last five years without modifying it.

Wth a maximum speed of 1000 stitches per minute (on a straight stitch) means you'll power through long straight seams. (The average home sewing machine stitches 600 spm.) With adjustable speed you can slow it down for detail work - or teaching folks how to sew without scaring the heck out of them.

Janome added a feature to this machine called the Accu-Feed system - essentially a built-in walking foot that feeds both the top and bottom layer of fabric through the machine at the same rate, eliminating seam puckering on even the most slippery fabrics.

It also handles different threads with ease - including specialty decorative threads that are often more delicate. If...
...

opusanna says "The Kenmore Progressive vacuum reliably cleans thoroughly" about kenmore progressive (with bag) Vacuum

The Kenmore Progressive vacuum so far is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. This is in comparison to Dirt Devil, Hoover, and Eureka uprights. I've had it over two years now and it still cleans just as well as it did when I first bought it. It's never required any maintenance aside from removing hair from the main rotating brush. It picks up most debris on the first pass and gives professional looking results. I especially like the dirt sensor feature.

On the down side, it is a somewhat bulky machine, but the attachments allow reach into smaller spaces. It is a little annoying to move the machine around while using the attachments because it is a somewhat heavy and bulky machine, but overall, I've been very pleased with it. When the time comes to buy another vacuum, I would buy another Kenmore upright vacuum cleaner. However, I would buy a bagless one, because not many stores carry bags for Kenmore upright vacuums.
...

choff3 says "The Oreck Tabletop Air Purifier keeps our home clean and fresh" about Oreck Oreck Tabletop Air Purifier

We purchased two of the Oreck Tabletop Air Purifiers and are loving them. My son constanlty had breathing problems and trouble sleeping at night, but once we put the air purifier in his room he has slept perfectly and the air seems to be so much cooler and cleaner.

We also placed an Oreck Tabletop Air Purifier in our general living area, which it has a little more difficult time keeping up in such a larger area, but still does fairly well.

One downfall is that it constantly needs cleaning, if they are not cleaned at least every couple of weeks or so, it emits a very loud clicking noise, which is difficult to sleep through if it starts in the middle of the night

It has different settings so that it can run more powerfully or nearly silent if you would like to put it in a baby's room.

The functionality of the product works exactly as advertized, it was a little costly and requires an above average amount of cleaning, but overall has been very much worth the money and time spent cleaning...
...

I have to give this a low rating because I found the noise this unit made to be entirely unacceptable. I bought this as supplemental AC for our living room (the big unit is in the next room over). The plan was to trial it in that window, and if it ended up being quieter than the 5000BTU LG in the bedroom, to swap the two. Unfortunately this unit makes an incredibly annoying buzz. It's much more than the normal fan/compressor sound. It sounded like there might be a mount loose on the compressor or the fan was hitting something, though I didn't open to find out. Definately way to loud to watch TV with. After one day's use, I brought it back to the store and returned it for a more expensive unit.

Because of it's price, I'd still use this unit in a garage or another place where noise is irrelevant but I find it way to loud for general household use.
...

Bosch Nexxt 500 plus. I would NEVER buy a Bosch front loader again. Bought this Bosch Washer and Dryer in May 2008. Had a repairman out because on the refresh cycle the clothes came out sopping wet, wasn't spinning the water out. The repairman couldn't find anything wrong and called the company to be told that I was using too much or improper detergent. I use HE detergent and used only what the bottle told me. Company said to use 2 tbsps. I have done that and still at times clogs up again. I started using 1 tsps HE detergent and today it wouldn't spin the clothes thoroughly again. I wish I had bought a top loader or a different brand. Bought on the recommendation of Consumer Reports and the representative at the store. Would not recommend to anyone. For the price, you could buy a top of the line top loader.

When we converted our garage into a combination workshop/design studio a couple of years ago we probably didn't give enough consideration for the air-conditioning needs of the project. Since the air handler for our central air system is located in the garage we had always assumed that tapping into the central system was going to be the answer.

But as the project was nearing completion a couple of air-conditioning technicians cautioned us from taking this route. They argued that too much air-conditioning power would be drawn away from the living areas of the house. No, we wouldn't want that.

I have had the w/d pair of LG Tromm for about 2 years. The dryer is fine, but the washer is not. The washer always cleaned well enough, that was never the problem, although the length of wash time, even on short wash, and the amount of vibration was interesting. The first easily noticable thing was how on opening the door after washing, clean clothes would fall out onto the floor. I don't like FL just for that reason alone. As well, bleach can be a real problem. I wondered why some of my clothes were becoming bleach damaged when no bleach had been added to the wash, I realized the liquid bleach container still had traces of bleach in it which came out in future loads. BE CAREFUL ABOUT USING BLEACH, YOU WILL RUIN THE CLOTHES IN THE NEXT LOAD. About a month ago the washer began smelling of mildew. I had never had a problem with that in all the time beforehand. It is a real problem, the gasket is sludgy, there is slime on the underside of the drum that I can't reach in...
...

Kenmore Elite HE 5t Steam clothing washer:

Sears has come out to repair a leak due to a faulty rubber boot twice. The rubber boot is a large gasket sealing the door to the drum. It is held on with a metal ring. It fell off twice. If we had to pay it would be $200 a pop.

I bought this little vacuum cleaner at Wal-mart on sale for $48.00. What a deal!!! It is fantastic for cleaning up pet hair from my two little white papillons and a white cat who shed constantly on my dark green carpet. I do have to keep the little sponge filter cleaned. I sometimes do this by rinsing and drying it. Sometimes, I have another little canister vacuum cleaner and I vacuum it clean. I try to do this every time or two that I use it and it works great! The hepa filter (the thing that looks like an accordian folded white paper fan in the black plastic) also needs replaced or cleaned. My husband has taken it out and has blown air through it the opposite way with his air compresser because we haven't ordered any new ones. It has worked amazingly well for over a year. I am finally breaking down and ordering some new hepa filters. Over all a great vacuum that gets up pet hair better than my upright bag vacuum.
...

I had a lot of problems with the other machines where holding larger spools of thread was next near to impossible... the thread would get all tangled and i would get so mad! So far after a year of using my new brother machine, i have not had this problem at all. Also the main reason why I purchased this machine was for all the extra stitching styles. There are many styles of stitches and they are pretty awesome! I was worried when I went to look and picked out this machine that it would be hard to figure out because of the fact that it is computerized, but I will be honest and tell you that there is nothing to it! I will tell you that within a few days, I way like a pro that had been sewing and using this machine for years! The threading is also easy and not to mention the excellent easy button...
...

webbsway says "My Brother PE700II loves getting designs online." about Brother Brother PE700II

The Brother PE700II is my second embroidery machine and I wanted it for three reasons: 1. affordable price 2. the ability to hook to the computer to get designs online and download them for use straight into the embroidery machine without extra software and 3. a larger size embroidery space. I find it has accomplished all of these goals , plus being easy to operate and with a manuel that has good explanations - if you take the time to read them. I did notice in some sites that offered complaints about them - that if they had just throughly read their manuel they would have found the answer to what They were doing wrong, as sometimes a machine is only as good as the operator will let it be. My only "con" would be IF I ever need assistance I do not have a Brother dealship near me and would have to make over an hours travel . In my real life scenerio she does exactly what I hoped for without any problems and I am very proud to own my Brother PE700II embroidery machine. This is a stand...
...

webbsway says "Brother serger 1034D" about Brother Sewing Machine - Serger - 1034D Serger

I love my Brother 1034D serger. When I first fell in love with sergers I did some research and decided I KNEW I wanted a free arm and a differential feed and the ablility to use decorative threads - BUT- I did not have thousands of dollars to learn with. Brother made it possible for me to have it all and it has been 2 years now and I have made LOTS of lounge pants and tee shirts and pillowcases and aprons for my family for Christmas presents. They all have a nice professional finish . I have only had problems two times and it turned out that it was MY fault and I had to research the tension - a machine can only run as good as the OPERATOR lets it. ~smile~ I adore the free arm - working around pants legs and shirt sleeves and with the differential I can work with any fabrics, plus it handles decorative threads like a champ and I can decorate beautiful baby blankets so simply . I have also used the decorative threads to make small bags and they always turn out perfect. My only problem...
...

jesbrown says "Lightweight, easy to store, perfect for smaller spaces." about Eureka Optima Optima Vacuum

I got the Eureka Optima Lightweight vaccuum when I moved into my first apartment. I like that it is lightweight since I live in a townhome and have stairs. Also the attachments make it easy to clean tight spaces, like the crevices of the stairs. The brush roll on/off option makes going from carpet to hard woods floors simple. It is easy store and takes up very little space as the handle can be slid down into the unit for a more compact fit. I also like that the handle has a circular shape on top which makes carrying the Optima up and down the stairs a breeze. Not to mention it only weighs 12 pounds, so I don't have to worry about pulling a muscle or tripping over it when going up and down the stairs. The Optima is a great deal and can be found at common retail stores like Target or Wal Mart and is quite affordable. The filters are also easily found at many local stores. I love Eureka's products and feel they are a brand I can trust.
...

Helens-Picks says "I can't believe I switched to a canister vacuum cleaner." about sears kenmore canister Vacuum

I wanted to buy a quality vacuum cleaner after having a crappy, loud bagless Drit Devel for two years. I still had my Panosonic upright but it was old (22 years) and not as powerful as it had been but still worked better than the Dirt Devel which broke after two years of light use. I went to Sears after checking with Consumer Reports and learning that Kenmore was rated at the top. I tried several brands of uprights then for some odd reason I tried the Sears Kenmore Intuition canister vacuum. C.R. rated the canisters better at picking up pet hair, etc. So after testing the Dyson and the different Kenmores, I finally decided that the Intuition canister vac was the best all-around, multi-purpose vacuum. It was on sale too. The bags are not expensive which was very important for me. The bagless vacs aren't as dust free as the bag type vacs, so I am VERY happy with my choice of buying a bagged vac. I never thought I would ever go back to a canister vac but it is much easier to...
...
