leo0731 says "Eureka Boss; A very affordable, better alternative to the Dyson " about Eureka Boss 4D Pet Fresh Vacuum

After only 4 years, we were looking for another vacuum. And - right after I bought a replacement for the one I had just replaced. I had and loved a Dyson. But it lost suction, even though guaranteed not to, and my husband and I decided to research a better replacement.

Consumer reports placed the Eureka Boss number one in bagless vacuums. Advertised as having greater suction than Dyson, and for $199 less, we decided to try it. We vacuumed the house with the Dyson 2 hours prior to our decision and realized that we weren't happy with the updates that the manufacturer had made. Set up the Eureka, and vacuumed again - A LOT of unseen debris and particles in the canister.

The Eureka Boss quickly impressed us with great suction, a very bright headlight and a longer cord. Very helpful to finish up three rooms without the need to unplug and plug in somewhere else.

All but the hepa filter can be rinsed in the sink to ensure that you don't get any clogs.

Three very helpful attachments...
...

stephmd1 says "Great Whirlpool Dryer" about Whirlpool Heavy Duty Super Capacity Washer/Dryer

This Whirlpool dryer was given to us as a wedding shower gift and my husband and I love it! The dryer is quiet, which was very important to us living in an apartment. In fact, the dryer is so quiet that we are sure to use the "End of Cycle" buzzer so we know when it is finished! The lint trap is a little different than other models, but is very simple to pull out of its crescent shaped holder and very easy to clean. The dryer offers many different cycle options, including Energy Preferred, which is the setting we use. This setting will adjust the drying time to stop the dryer when the clothes are dry. The door opens top to bottom which is convenient for removing clothes because the clothes to not drop to the floor. The capacity is very good. There is enough room to fit more than a full load from the washer. It is also an Energy Star appliance. Overall, I highly recommend this dyer as a quiet, large capacity, easy to use dryer!
...

My husband and I recently received this washer as a wedding shower gift and we love it! The washer has a very large capacity and runs very quietly. It has many options for wash settings (including using cold water to save on energy bills). There are many options, but not so many that it is difficult or overwhelming to use. The washer has a very nice appearance. We have already received many compliments on it. We live in an apartment so having a washer that is quiet and does not vibrate much is very important to us. The washer is located in a laundry closet, and when the door to the closet is closed, we can hardly hear the washer. This model was a little more expensive than some of the other models we looked at in the store, however, being a Whirlpool we knew we would get a quality appliance. I would recommend this washer to anyone looking for a quiet, attractive, large capacity washer with just enough features!
...

This is a great air purifier with a sensor that will automatically adjust the speed based on air quality. You can change modes to be quiet or for pollen. It covers a lot of area and works great for my allergies. It comes with like 5 different filters to really clean the air. Plus it looks really cool! The moodlight changes colors depending on what mode it's in.

Their customer service is also very responsive. I ordered the air purifier online and when it came it was DOA. They offered to ship out a replacement immediately after going through some diagnostics on the phone with me. Since their warehouse isn't terribly far from where I live, I ended up going and picking it up instead (so I could get it faster). There were no hassles and everyone was very helpful!
...

jbbj0104 says "I LOVE MY RICCAR RADIANCE VACUUM!" about Riccar Radiance Vacuum

I have had my Riccar Radiance for about three weeks now and I absolutely LOVE it! I had my mind set on a Dyson and told this to the salesman. He informed me that Dyson has a "limited" 5 yr warranty and after 2 years, they do not cover the belt, etc. I was a little sceptical, so when I got home, I called the Dyson's 800 number. Turns out, he was right!!!

So, I marched back to Jones Sew and Vac and bought this vacuum cleaner. When I first got it home, I vacuumed with my old one I mostly used, Dirt Devil, and I vacuumed very slowly to give this vac a run for it's money. As I vacuumed with my Radiance, I could FEEL the cleaner carpet on my feet! When I finished the entire house, I checked the bag (which I love having a bag vacuum again) and it was half full of dirt the other vacuum missed! YUCK! I was impressed! My carpets looked so much better, too. Even my husband noticed the cleaner capets!

We have always had dogs, so we have gone through our share of vacuums. When the last one broke, we only had one dog inside, so we just went for the cheapest vacuum we could find (budget was a factor in this too). This vacuum was about $40 at WalMart. It is a bag vacuum with auto floor height adjuster. I do not think this vacuum was worth $40...$20 would have been better, for all the good its done. We have had this vacuum for maybe a year, and it has cleaned it's last carpet. I have unclogged the hose about a half dozen times in the last year. We change the bags on a regular basis, but despite the upkeep, the vacuum only has about a 1 year life span (unless you dont have pets, then it may last longer). Yesterday I unclogged it again, put a new bag in, and went to vacuuming. I might as well have been sitting there sweeping dirt down into the carpet. It did not pick up anything. I ended up on my hands and knees picking up everything I could, and then I used my steam cleaner to finish. Do not...
...

bobbomom says "This is the best and last vacuum I will ever own" about Oreck XL21 Vacuum

The Oreck vacuum seemed a little pricey but, I made payments and it was worth every penny I paid. The vacuum is easy to use, easy to push and, the handle is easy on the arms and hands. It has a position for floors and 1 for carpets; both work very well. I have a lot of hard wood floors and the floor position keeps me from having to sweep. Because of the handling, I can vacuum my whole house in a very short time.

The Oreck company has a great reputation. My mother paid the extra amount last year to step up to a better vacuum because of my great luck with the Oreck. One of the great things about the reputation is the warranty. The XL21 has a 21 year warranty! The only requirement is that you return to an Authorized Oreck Service Center and have a yearly tune up. The tune up is free! If you do not live close to an Oreck Center and you can not get the tune up done every year, you still receive a 10 year warranty.

I also appreciate the fact that the Oreck is Made in the USA.

I was so excited when I first purchased the Bissell Flip It. I thought it was a wonderful idea, you vacuum your floor and then turn your vacuum around and use it to mop your floor! I thought this would be a huge time saver. Wrong!! First, the Flip It is quite a bit bulkier than your broom and mop and that means there are several spaces you can't get to without attachments. The problem is that the Bissell Flip It has no attachments. So, while the vacuum does pick up well, without attachments you still feel like you're not getting your floor clean. I have a problem with mine leaking and have read that this is a pretty common issue. While mopping you must make sure that you lower the handle enough when bringing it back towards your body or the suction just doesn't suck. And don't expect this baby to clean a really dirty floor, it won't, this is for light cleaning only. Honestly, I have found that the Bissell Flip It takes too much time and is more of a hassle to use than...
...

We purchased our EdenPURE Gen3 two years ago and it still works as well now as it did then. I would definitely suggest this heater to anyone wishing to keep at least 2 rooms comfortable during the winter or cool months. It's quiet and small size mutes the output range. We heat our living-room, dining room and kitchen with just this one small heater. It only provides heat when you need it via the internal thermostat. There are no burners and is as safe as the rays of the Earth's sun. Low maintenance and low operating cost. The fan motor is the only moving part. The outside stays cool to the touch and is safe around children and pets. It uses a process that virtually prevents wasteful accumulation of hear on the ceiling. This heater will not burn out, or otherwise pollute the air with impurities. It is important that the air quality be of breathable comfort and this little heater provides and protects the humidity level. No messy tanks to fill, wicks to clean, wood to hassle with, ashes to...
...

The Borther LS-1520 is a reliable, inexpensive, portable sewing machine for everyday sewing needs. It is simple to set up and use, so a beginner can easily run it. It has a variety of straight and zig-zag stitches and a button hole option that are displayed on the front of the machine and are chosen by a simple turn of a dial. The machine has a removeable section for easy access to the bobbin as well as to allow the seamstress the possibility to in sew small, tight areas of a garment. Re-winding the bobbin is uncomplicated and takes seconds. The reverse lever is large and placed in a convienient spot on the front of the machine.

On the down-side, this machine is a bit loud and does produce vibrations at any speed over "slow-and-steady". It is not suitable for heavy-duty projects and does not have any of the the fancier stitches.

I first bought one of these space heaters when me and my husband lived in a two bedroom mobile home that also had a slide-out for the living room. Well this area came complete with 4 windows and sliding-glass doors (lol). The entire moblie home had linoleum from one end to the other which made this very chilly. We had put down various sizes of our oriental rugsall over and to save on heating costs is when I bought one of these heaters. It heated the open kitchen- living room area - the small bedroom off the living room and half way down the hall!! Wow! I then went back and bought another one of these wonderful little heaters . It also oscillates- is cool to the touch- has various heat contols- a tip-over feature-and a remote control. The other heater I set in the back hallway by the bathroom - our bedroom- and the back door. We then found out that some of the insulation in back wasn't tacked up properly under the floor so once again our heating problems were solved! Hurray!! There's nothing...
...

My boyfriend and I rent a large studio apartment in Las Vegas Nevada and our landlord provided us with a new space heater. He brought us a small compact one a Feature Comforts model HFG15A. When we first seen this tiny heater we both laughed at first thinking how could this tiny little heater do a good job of heating our apartment? This is now our second season using it and we both love it alot. Even on the low heat setting it heats our apartment so well that sometimes I have to turn it off and we stay nice and warm for about an hour or two. In the summertime I use the fan setting in the kitchen when I'm cooking and the little unit works better than a larger fan that I used to use. It's small enough that I can even set it in the window to blow out the hot air in the kitchen. In the cold weather months we'll take it in the bathroom when showering- plug it in - set it on the floor and it makes it nice and toasty in there so we don't have to get cold getting out of a warm shower.

I bought the Janome 3128 more on less on a rushed impulse--I needed to sew up a garment and needed a machine to do so--I knew my first choice had to be a Singer, but found out that a good Singer would cost me significantly more, or was unavailable. My next choice was the Brother, but again, the ones in my price range seemed to only do "miniature" tasks. I thus grabbed the Janome, on sale for $99.99 and made a break for it. For one, I think the machine is so likeable. It's only 11 lbs. in weight, with a secure handle to carry it from place to place. It also comes with a protective bag, three bobbin spools, a seam ripper, replacement [medium] needles, and metal and plastic feed dogs. The machine has a 13-setting dial for different stitches and whatnot. It also has a dial to adjust the thread tension, and of course, it has an automatic bobbin winder!

Fortunately for me, I did not buy this heater. I inherited it and the big brother to this heater also. I had an elderly uncle who bought them both, and never opened the carton containing the larger one.

I find this heater is no better than the small electric heaters I purchased from Lowe's. I have been using this smaller unit in my home office and yes, it will warm the room, but no faster or warmer than the Lowe's heaters. I have to be within 5 feet or less to even feel the air coming out of it. One thing that would help this unit is a multi-speed fan. Another irritant is the on-off switch is on the front, but the temperature control is on the BACK - why not put it on the front?

Sorry, I would not recommend anyone buying this heater, its WAAAAYYY over-priced and smaller, more convenient heaters are available from stores such as Lowes, Home Depot, and even Wal-Mart.
...

klaf says "The Roomba is a great toy, but not much of a vacuum cleaner." about Roomba 530 Vacuum

Mesmerizing to watch, the Roomba 530 does a good job cleaning under and around chairs. It picks up the dust that attaches to chair legs, which is a nice feature. That's it for the good things I have to say.

The Roomba doesn't do corners well; it inexplicably skips certain portions of rooms; it occasionally drops small clumps of dust in the middle of a room. It ruins all kinds of area rugs, from fine antiques to simple modern styles. Dhurries, rag rugs, Persians -- none are exempt from this rug-killing machine. Somehow the Roomba finds a tiny loose end, a minute bump, a worn edge, and attacks mercilessly until there's a good deal of damage.

The machine has a lot of trouble with hair. Hair gets tangled in the wheels and the brushes quite easily, requiring frequent cleanings and mini-repairs.

But if you have very short hair, and no rugs of any kind, and don't mind hand-cleaning dirty, dusty corners, then you'll love the Roomba 530.

brookedriver says "good quality " about LG 8,000 BTU

I have purchase in the last three years two of the same model of LG 8,000 BTU window air conditioner units. I live in Pennsylvania where our summers tend to only last about 2 months and hardly any of the older houses have whole house air conditioners. I live in a house that is approximately 90 years old and is one of those such houses. I looked into buying window units for two of the bedrooms upstairs in my house. LG seemed to have a good quality and inexpensive buy. I do take them out of the windows after summer is over but so far they have lasted three summers with no signs of stopping. They are extremely quiet though I have noticed that the one that is used most often in the master bedroom has started just this past summer to rattle against the window frame. Which I plan an easy fix of adding foam around the unit to help supress the noise as it is bothersome while sleeping. They both came with a remote control which is helpful to change the temperature or fan speed without leaving the...
...

We purchased the Hamilton Beach air purifier about 3 years ago from Walmart Supercenter and have been very happy with the quality and its ability to clean the air. The air purifier's motor seems to be very powerful despite the small compact size of the air purifier. I was dissapointed with Walmart Supercenter because we tried to buy the replacement filters there for the Hamilton Beach Air purifier and they did not sell the replacement filters for the particular model that we purchased but continued to sell the air purifier in their store. I have to go online through the Hamilton Beach website and order my replacement filters. I would recommend highly that if you decide to purchase an air purifier that you make sure that you can also purchase the replacement filters and make sure it is not a product that they are not outsourcing. Overall, I love the Hamilton Beach air purifier and have plans to purchase a bigger one for the house.
...
