I am a Target junkie and love to try pretty much anything that is new in the beauty and health section. When I saw the Boots Strawberry Flavored Detox 5 Day Plan for just $18, I knew that I had to try it out. — This detox kit consists of five 1 fluid ouce vials of strawberry-flavored herbal suspension. According to the package, Boots Detox 5 Day Plan contains grape vine leaf extract, pycnogenol, and schisandra chinersis but there is no information about how/why those ingredients may help in detoxifying your body. Still, I was determined to cleanse my body so I faithfully mixed the 1 fluid ounce bottle of Boots Detox into two 0.5L bottles of spring water. — I drank them fairly quickly and close together (within two hours) without any adverse side effects. The strawberry flavor isn't particularly tasty but it is easy enough to get down. I will say that I was having some mid-back pain associated gall stones in the days before I...

fayrie says "If you have fibromyalgia, try guaifenesin." about Many... look for Guaifenesin Guaifenesin

Guaifenesin is unfortunately unknown to many, even doctors specializing in chronic pain and chronic fatigue. If you have fibromyalgia, it's worth trying (since so few things out there are). Theoretically it gets rid of some deposits that some doctors believe causes fibro and CF. If you have lumps on your arms and legs, regardless of whether these correspond to sensitive spots, the guaifenesin is supposed to reduce those and actually reverse the disease. — I don't know if that's true, but together with pain killers this stuff seems to be helping. I've been taking it for about a year now. I'm not all better, but I have fewer really bad days than I used to, and that's more than I can say for the twenty or fifty other treatments I've tried. — Keep hope - they'll figure it out eventually. —...

GeorgeBounacos says "There is some serious misinformation out there." about Diabetes Books For A Diabetic's Library

So you have diabetes. There is a lot of information on the web, and much of that information is questionable. That is why you need to know the top diabetes books. Diabetes is a life-changing illness. Don't leave your management to chance info you read on someone's blog. — — You, my friend, need some printed material. But beware. Books go out of print fast as medical knowledge changes. To be safe, skip the eBay auctions and private sellers unless you know for sure that you are buying the most current volume and that the most current volume's information is still valid. — — A great example of that is the Joslin Center Guide many doctors and many websites still cite. Unfortunately, the book is more than a decade old, and you need to more current information. — — One other issue: Try to steer clear of the "Reversing Diabetes" or "Miracle Cure" type books. There is no miracle cure short of a pancreas transplant and some other...

Katrena says "Hunter Quiet Flo Air Purifier improved my asthma!" about Hunter Quiet Flo Air Purifier

Hunter Quiet Flo air purifiers allow you to provide cleaner air in your home at the touch of a button. Ours has three settings for the fan speed and the display shows the percentage of filter life left. It contains two filters: the HEPA filter is typically replaced about once a year and the pre-carbon filters are typically replaced every few weeks, depending on the quality of the air being filtered. We tend to buy a cheaper generic pre-carbon filter and cut them to the correct size rather than buying the more expensive Hunter brand pre-filters. — As the name indicates, it is quiet when running, which is a BIG improvement from another brand of air purifier we bought many years before. Another nice newer feature is that you can lock the display, preventing little fingers from changing the settings. — A couple of years ago, we bought two Hunter air purifiers, one larger one and one smaller one. Since I have asthma and take allergy shots, I have a peak flow meter and have...

The Shift3 massage vest did not do very much for me. The vibrations were not as powerful as the "kneading massagers" are. It claims to work on chairs too, but didn't fit some chairs and slipped off of the others. I had it on my desk chair and if I moved my chair at all it got tripped up because the cord was so short. Why make it as a vest if it is going to be corded? Anything you wear should be cordless in my opnion. It completely died after 3 months. It is just sitting on the back of my chair right now....

When certain bodily processes didn't occur as usual, I found that I had the need for a home pregnancy test. I didn't know much about them and wasn't interested in lingering next to the prescription counter, so I just grabbed the e.p.t. +/- Home Pregnancy Test because it was a well-known brand name. The fact that the $19.99 package contained two test sticks for the price of one wasn't something I really cared about at the time. — When I got home, I immediately tore open the box and read the instructions. They are pretty simple: put the test part of the stick into urine stream for no more than 5 seconds (you also can immerse it into a cup of urine if you need to), place the stick onto a stable surface for 2+ minutes, and then read the results (+ = positive and - = negative) in the window. Personally, I think the test should come with a shot of Jack Daniels or a Xanax or something for you to take while you are waiting for the results... but that's...

Many people gathering on holidays using food as a focus of their celebration. There are ways to enjoy informal outings, even barbeques, without hurting yourself. Here are ten suggestions for eating out today, keeping your blood sugar under control and being in a great mood to see the fireworks explode tonight. — — 1. As with every day, testing is today's key. If you use a glucometer, carry your smallest one in a pants pocket or purse. Test in your car before you arrive for a decent baseline and then again before the serious eating begins. When it comes to small meters, One Touch's Ultra Mini is an awesome product. I disliked One Touch's products just two years ago, but the company's Ultra 2 is my favorite meter now. Unfortunately, holidays are days that require multiple finger sticks because you're eating different foods in new settings and have different environmental conditions to deal with. Test pre and post meal, and don't forget any meds you typically take....

Although my family has been eating top of the line healthy for a couple of decades now, I still have had some terrible problems with allergies. Allergies would hit me hard in spring time and after only a few weeks of freedom, I would end up with weeks of hellish suffering that went on for months. — — My eyes would start running and I would sneeze so severely for hours on end that my nose would often run like Niagara Falls for hours. My life in summer was a living hell. I tried EVERYTHING from allergy shots, to vitamins, supplements, and prescriptions for help. Sometimes there was one allergy medicine from Walmart that would work without making me TOO drowsy, but that just was not doing it for me- it wiped me out. — — The asthma attacks were brutal as well. I would often spend hours clutching at a pillow terrified that each labored breath would be my last. Nothing helped that- except one herbal remedy would enable me to breathe enough to sleep.
