ElizabethAnnR says "Airborne helped me avoid colds." about Airborne

Airborne is a blessing. When I am going to be around people with colds, I just take Airborne. It helps me avoid being sick with the same cold.

I have a habit of taking Airborne when flying. There are many people in a confined area and you never know what sort of germs you are going to encounter. This is a preventive measure.

Taking Airborne when going to a movie or attending a concert is also a wonderful way to protect yourself from unknown germs. The more people you are around, the more germs ther are.

This would also be a good to take when you are going to be around children. They are exposed to so many germs when in school or just playing with their friends. Wash their hands often but protect yourself by taking Airborne.

I also take Airborne when visiting a hospital or nursing facility. I always say that if you aren't sick when you become a patient in a hospital, just wait. You will be. Hospitals simply have more germs than our bodies can manage.

Airborne is a self-defense product and...
...

I'll never forget those days as a child when I was sick. My mother would bundle me up in what seemed like a thousand blankets, then rub Vick's all over my chest and my nose. I would squirm like I hated it but what a relief it was to be able to breathe once again. I suffered fron chronic bronchitis for years and Vick's was always there. Now that i'm older I appreciate all my mother and Vick's did for me. I still keep it in my home but now I have a broader range of products. I absolutely can't live without the old Vick's and I have yet to try one of their products I'm not happy with. You'll find a Vick's product in each of the medicine cabinets in my home and I'm still just as appreciative for the relief.
...

KaciOhio says "This didn't really do anything....." about Mucinex For Kids Mini Melts

Mucinex Cough mini melts for kids. Orange Creme flavor. 12 granule packets that control cough and thins and loosens mucus. Expectorant and cough suppressant.

Okay I thought this was such a cute product, they are little packets of tiny balls that you just tip back and swallow or chew up. They taste great and they are fun for kids to eat. My 8 and 6 year old had these before bed and in the morning before school and they still coughed their heads off all night. It's suppost to loosen all that mucus up inside and the little ones cough it up but it just didn't work for us. They had this product continuously for about 5 days and they could not stop coughing. For Children ages 4 and up. Contains Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin. It's suppost to Temporarily relieve: Cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with the common cold or inhaled irritants. The intensity of coughing, and the impulse to cough to help you get to sleep at night. It doesn't do any of that....atleast not...
...

savnzplan says "MOM was right this will make you feel better" about Vicks VapoRub

I think my mom would laugh to hear me recommend Vicks Vapor Rub so highly. As I child I remember that when I has a cold it made me feel warm and cozy and cleared my head, and soothed my chest so i could sleep. We all know sleeping well is the best thing when you are sick, but that is hard to do when you have a cold.

Vicks Vapor Rub opens up your stuffy head without the dryness of a cold medicine. It warms your chest so that the tight heavy feeling is gone allowing you to breathe deeper and sleep better without any side effects. As a cold remedy this may be the least expensive of all but whatever the price it would be worth it. I never use Vicks Vapor Rub on myself without thinking of my Mom, or rub it on my children without feeling I have just done the perfecet MOM thing. The warm vapors just feel so nice you know as soon as they start that this is good medicine and you will feel better in the morning.

As an extra bonus I have found other great things the Vicks Vapor Rub will help relieve,...
...

I go to school full-time, work full-time and am married with a dog... as well as actively involved within my church, so I have absolutely no time to take off for an illness. I work in a retirement home for senior citizen and see many types of germs on a daily basis. At the beginning of the flu season, this year, I started taking Airborne (as well as a flu shot) and have not gotten sick yet. I continue to take airborne at least three times a week to help prevent any illnesses I may come in contact with on a regular basis.
...

I am 25 years old and I remember clearly when I was a kid that my mom would put some kind of a cream on my chest and it used to help a lot. I also remember the smell of it as the smell was very specific. I am one of these people that no matter how they cover themselves of how many clothes they wear during cold weather they somehow always manage to catch a cold. There is no winter with me not caughting any bad cold. I always tried some kind of a syrop or kitchen sing approach to help with it. I don't even know if it helped or now. One day I went to Walgreens and as I was passing aisle with products for colds and such I notice small blue tupe and I was like WOW this is it. That's the same one my mom used to put on my chest and I would get well by the next day or couple days at most. I bought it opened it put it on my chest and day after I was like new!!! no kidding!! I don't know gow that works and why it works so damn well but it does and I am living proof of it. I love vicorub...
...

soberlady says "Vick's Vabor Rub... helps when nothing else does" about Vicks VapoRub

I have used Vick's vabor Rub since I was a child. I think it was my Mom's remedy for us when she could not think of anything else to use. I have now found that if I will rub it on my chest it will releive the chest congestions.

If it is applied to my upper back it will help with the chest congestion. I also rub a bit right under my nose, do not put in your nose it will help with nasal congestion too.

If I have a cold that is accompanied by a cough. I take and rub it on my feet, especially under the toe area, put on some socks (so that it doesn't get greasey on the sheets) and the coughing will stop. Almost as soon as you get the socks on. I am not sure what it is that causes that, I do know that I have used different essential oils for the same thing and it has worked, I think there are pressure points or reflexology points located there. So that is probably the reason.

Either way, I would not be without Vick's in the house.
...

Vicks VapoRub is not only good for colds, but also for nail fungus removal. When I was younger, my Mother would use it all the time for colds, sore throat and the flu. Now I found that it will heal nail fungus too. I had a nail fungus under my thumb nail for a long time and saw in the articles by Dr. Gott, to use Vicks every night for several weeks and it would clear up the fungus. I had taken many prescription drugs to try to clear up this mess on my fingernails. Nothing worked, so I tried the Vicks and it worked. I put it right under the thumb nail and covered with a bandade and within several weeks, it was gone. I always have a jar of Vicks in my bathroom now. Glad to see they have it in a creme now, however, the Vicks goes a long way and I haven't tried the creme yet, as I still have a big jar. I don't mind the smell and if you do have allergies, it helps the running nose and coughing.
...

tornadol says "Vicks VaporRub: The scent of healing." about Vicks VapoRub

Vicks Vaporub has been around a long time. My grandmother always used it. I use it for colds, burns, athletes feet, toe fungus. sores, sinus problems and skin irritations. It works great on whatever I have used it for.

To kill out fungus on toenails, cut your toenails short and apply Vicks every day to a clean toe nail. Apply generously and on both sides. Wthin days as your toenail grows out you can see the differance. Keep your toenails cut back and keep applying. Soon you will see a healthy toenail without the yellow hardness that the fungus causes

Some say they don't like the scent but I do not mind it. To me it is the scent of healing..

When my nose gets dry in the winter I apply Vicks just below each nostril at night. In the morning the dryness has gone.I also use it on skin rashes, burns and other irritations. It heals quickly and it stops the itching.

When I have a cold I put it on my feet and then put my socks on. I also apply to my chest. Usually by the next morning I am...
...

I suffer from colds periodically, in addition to allergies. I'm always eager to try something new to get rid of my symptoms. I started coming down with a cold recently. I received a sample of this product; I tried it and I noticed that my congestion was noticably reduced after about an hour. My cold then went away within a couple of days, which is a lot shorter than many colds I've had in the past. I've noticed that natural remedies can work better at preventing and reducing symptoms more effectively than other OTC products, without any side effects like feeling groggy or woozy.
...

I received a Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier as a gift for my child and have been very pleased with the results after using it when needed for about six months. With this humidifier, you will need to purchase the Vick's liquid medicine to add to the water when you fill the humidifier up each time. I found that for my 20 month old child, the recommended dose on the bottle of Vick's seemed a little bit too strong, so I use about half of the recommended dose each time. It really does work and help clear his breathing when he is lying in his crib at night. My husband has even used this when he is sick, so it is not just for children alone! I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a humidifier to help with breathing when sick from a cold or virus. In the case of my son, I know that I sleep better when using this humidifier whenever he is sick because of how much easier it is for him to breathe!
...

I caught a nasty cold last month and I'd have to say that Mucinex DM was a lifesaver. The first day I woke up with a sore throat and I knew that I was getting sick. I headed straight over to my local Walmart and picked up a pack for this year's round of sickness. Last year the product came in a bottle and this year i was able to buy it in blister packs. The blister packs fit so much better in my medicine cabinet too. I took two pills (the maximum dose) every twelve hours for the first four days and wow the difference it made. I had a terrible flem filled cough and severe sinus congestion. within an hour of taking the pills, I felt a thousand times better. It cleared out my head and the sinus pressure ceased to exist. My coughs were so much more productive and when I blew my nose I really got a lot of the snot and gunk out. I was able to go to work, granted with a couple of tissues on hand for the occasional sneeze, life was pretty much normal again. I would highly recommend this product...
...

I have really enjoyed the funny mucinex commercials although they remind me of the fungus nail guys and decided to try the mucinex sprays and then the medicines - amazing so many medicine for so many combination of symptons but I have tried several decongestant mucinex and have been please with the dosage and the way they do work without making the usualy sleepy, overly dry symptions that other products cause. Even if the price is high I think it is worth it when you find something that works for you, your children and the ease of swalloing the pills is a consideration too with no after taste, burping, etc.
...

I can recall that my grandmother used Vicks for everything - even , amazingly , for burns ! She swore by it and it has been a staple in my medicine cabinet for years.

When I had a bad sinus infection recently, nothing really helped so I reached for the old faithful Vicks. I had tried Sinutab , Mucinex, etc and had some relief but Vicks did the trick .

I boiled a spoonful in water and inhaled the fumes, much like a vaporizer . I smeared a little on my chest and a dab under my nose to open my poor sweollen nasal passages . I know some people have a sensitivity to the camphor so I say a word of caution here but it has never bothered my sensitive , Irish skin so ....

When you wake up , you will be able to breathe easier and your sinsues will feel much better .

I recently read that putting Vicks on the soles of your feet , then covering with sicks and sleeping through the night , can bring a world of relief . I personally did not try this yet, but I think I will the next time I get a stuffed...
...

When I got my first cold this season, the nurse at the facility where I work recommended Mucinex DM. To hear her talk, one would have thought that Mucinex DM was the answer to any and every physical ailment ever known to humankind. Since I sleep with a CPAP machine, it is most important to me to be able to breathe as freely as possible. I was willing to try this "wonder drug" and hoped it was quick acting. Well, 6 hours later I still had experienced no relief. I was baffled. Having watched the oh-so-clever commercials, I was sure that Mucinex DM was going to knock the germs right out of my system. Truth be known, the "punch" felt like little more than swatting at germs. I have taken many other cold medicines in the past, and this was the first with which I experienced no improvement. The medicine was a bit pricey, at 7.99 for 24 pills. I have bought generics for half that price that worked twice as well.
...

If you've ever worked with the general public or in the educational field you know that colds are a part of the job. As much as I wash my hands, add extra vitamin C to my diet, I still wind up with a terrible seasonal cold. I work part-time at Biltmore Estate and even on our slow days we have 3000-5000 guest visiting the house; most of which we personally welcome. Verbal communication with our guests is an important part of my job, so I can't afford to be stricken with a sore scratchy throat.

I popped one in my mouth and noticed the refreshing flavor of real lemon mint. I grew lemon mint this summer so I was pleasantly surprised by their real lemon mint flavor. Ricola Sugar Free Lemon Mint Herb Throat Drops instantly soothed my throat without the medicine-like aftertaste many throat drops leave behind. Ricola Sugar Free Lemon Mint Herb Throat Drops are now in my winter remedy first aid bag....
...

I remember mom giving us vicks when we were kids, With a washcloth on our chest under our clothes. And with so many different Vicks products. The Vapor Rub is still the best. Its the smell you never forget that is for sure. It works wonders for cough and congestion. It helps you breath so you can sleep. Another thing I love about Vicks is it works for other things. I was taught about when you have a cough thats persistant and you cant sleep. Rub a little Vicks on the bottom of your feet before bed. Cover with socks and it prevents you from coughing all night long. Amazing! So Its something I pass on to all my friends. Especially when they are sick. And many of them didnt know about that little trick. So Im happy to teach that little bit. The bonus about using it on your feet for a cough is it makes your feet nice and soft. Especially in the winter time when skin dryness is persistant. Vicks fixes a lot and is wonderful for those that really dont like to take medicine. And its easier...
...

I tried this product twice now and both times it has never done anything to help with my symptoms or to make me feel even an ounce better. I have chronic bronchitis and I asked a pharmacist for his recommendation to help with my coughing and chest congestion. He told me to try mucinex dm because it works fast and efficiently. Wow was he wrong as ever! Maybe my body doesn't work with this medication but it did absolutely nothing for me. After I took it, I didn't feel any chest relief and it didn't break up the mucus at all. I would not recommend this product.
...

njchicaa says "My #1 choice in cough drops is Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops." about Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops - Original

As a teacher, I talk A LOT throughout the day and also have to project my voice so that 25-30 students can hear exactly what I'm saying for all 40-minutes of each of the 5 classes. When I started to develop a wickedly sore throat this morning, I had to alter some of my plans simply because I couldn't proceed with the lecture that I had planned.

After work, I picked up some cold medicine (proactive step on my part) and a bag of Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops. I need *something* to soothe the burning and pain that was happening in my throat. After using just 2 of these drops, my mouth and throat were noticeably improved and I wasn't nearly as miserable as I was during the course of the day before I bought them.

The active ingredient in this stuff is menthol which is supposed to work as a cough suppressant. It also contains an herb mixture (elderflower, horehound, hyssop, lemon balm, linden flowers, mallow, peppermint, sage, thyme, wild thyme), peppermint oil, starch syrup, and...
...

TimothyL says "Ricola is the best herbal remedy for coughs." about Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops - Original

Ricola Natural Herb Cough drops have been around since my mother was a child and probably even before. So, it stands to say she's influenced me about the product for a long time, and it's a family approved product.

While my sister was on vacation in Germany, she developed a cough and was afraid she was going to catch a cold. She purchased the Ricola drops at their local pharmacy (yes, it's available worldwide!) and felt much better after a few days of taking them, her near-sickness stopping at a standstill, and it didn't ruin her trip. My mother, once she realized she had the flu, has been taking them non-stop, and hasn't developed the laryngitis that my father had prior (and he only started taking them after he lost his voice).

I believe its taste has improved since I was younger, and now besides Menthol, it also has Vitamin C, which helps (even if it's considered an old wives' tale). When choosing between the cough drops available (e.g. Halls, Cold-EEZE, Nice, etc.), my family...
...
