Skempff09 says "Chantix help me quit, TWICE!" about CHANTIX

I started smoking when I was six-teen, and got hooked right away. I had always hated smokers and never wanted to start, but just couldn't seem to find anything that helped me quit once I had started. I smoked about a pack a day for six years, always hating the way I felt. I was always out of breath and just couldn't work out the way I used to.

So I started to try ways of quitting. I used the patches, but they made me feel tired and agitated. I tried the gum, but it made me nauseated and at the end of the day I always wanted a cigarette again. Then one day my mom told me about a new medication called Chantix. She said it was a pill you took everyda that decreased the urge to smoke over time. She told me a woman she worked with who had smoked heavily for forty-five years had just quit using it. I got very excited and talked to my physician right away.

The directions were to continue smoking the first week while taking the medication, and pick a quit date for the following week,......

CindyinSav says "The first day of the rest of my smoke free life!!" about CHANTIX

I was pumping gas...On the side of the gas pump there was a sign that said "Lowest Carton Prices in Town! Marlboro $37.99!". My reaction was "What the hell am I doing?" Not only am I killing myself, slowly, but it's costing a ton of money! I called the pharmacy (who had a prescrition on hold for me for Chantix) and asked what my co-pay was. $15! So for less than I pay a week for smokes, I can not smoke! I said sign me up!

I told my husband and neighbors (who we are really close to and socially smoke with) and got a really crappy reaction. It's almost like they chastised me for wanting to do something good for me. I don't care though!! I just asked a couple of co-workers and my sister to be my encouragers and they're great!

I have been on Chantix for 8 days now and it's working! I'm 13 1/2 hours into my quit date and I'm doing well! No smoking for me and the urges aren't nearly as bad as I expected. I have eaten my weight in gobstoppers (my favorite candy)! It's super cool though that my...
...

Kajw1023 says "Chantix - Absolutely Amazing! " about CHANTIX

I'm 22 years old and began smoking when I was just 15. Smoking was in my family - everyone including my granny smoked ciggerates. Being overweight, I decided that I had to stop smoking in order to begin losing weight the healthy way. I started taking chantix 2 weeks ago. It took me about 3 days to quit after 7 years of smoking. I just couldn't smoke any more after those 3 days. I feel SO much better. I'm breathing better, feeling better, and just overall in a fantastic mood.

Luckily, I haven't experienced any "drastic" side effects - nothing that would make me stop smoking. I did have some strange dreams and slight headaches but nothing over the top. I'm going to continue with the program until I'm comfortable enough to fly alone.

This medicine IS expensive - it was covered by my insurance but I still forked over 50 bucks for the starter pack. However, considering that I bought a cartoon every two weeks, I'm already saving $60.00.

We all know how dangerous ciggerates are to our health...
...

Ok, I honestly didn't think it would work, believe it or not, I liked smoking! I had tried to quit numerous times, but the jittery feelings & cravings made that a disaster. I just thought I could never quit & never wanted to.

Chantix REALLY helps, I quit more than 2 months ago. It changes the cravings so they're more managable. You still have to work at it (their online support program is fantastic) but I honestly thought it would be a lot tougher to quit! After all, I started smoking at age 16, & am now 53. By the way, my husband also quit, by using Chantix. Two non smokers in the house:)! Yay!

Neither one of us had any of the side effects that can worry some people, no depression or anything. My husband said he had some vivid dreams, but I didn't. And I was looking forward to that! And it is expensive, just lucky our insurance paid for most of it.

Still, I would highly recommend Chantix to people looking for a way to break the cigarrette addiction. Their program shows not only how to...
...

Ab12452 says "If you can't quit smoking..these filters are the next best thing" about K.K. International Corp. Magic 25 Cigarette Filters

These mini filters filter out a large percentage of tar and nicotine from cigarettes.

I never smoke a cigarette without one of these filters.

They have improved my wind and my teeth don't stain nearly as much.

You will be amazed at the amount of tar the filter catches...that you then just throw away.

It took me about 3 days to get used to the lower nicotine. I was used to the "nicotine bite" that cigarettes gave me on my tongue. There is no nicotine bite when you use these filters.

I also had a very slight headache from the lowered nicotine level in my body. This also just lasted a few days.

Slightly inconvient, but there is no way around it. One filter lasts for 4 or 5 cigarettes, so you end up slipping filters back into the package, and you have to remember to carry a package with you at all times. Definitely worth the inconvience!

These filters are disposable and reasonably priced. I pay about $1.50 for 10 filters, which last a very long time.

Naturally, they do nothing...
...

I started using Chantix about a month ago. I can honestly say that after the first day or two, I have not smoked a single cigarette. To put it simply, there is no point. You can cheat all you want, but once Chantix is in your bloodstream, you get nothing out of it, so you might as well be inhaling car exhaust fumes.

I'll be as forthright as possible, just so everybody knows what they're getting themselves in to. The first few days were rough - Chantix does not in any way reduce the cravings, so you're basically quitting cold turkey. In addition, my insurance plan does not currently cover Chantix, so I had to pay for the entire prescription out of pocket - about $150 per month for three months. Also, I do have some really crazy dreams - personally, I have always had an active imagination so I find these enjoyable, but I could see this being unsettling for people who aren't used to it. I have not experienced any nausea or irritability, but I have heard that is fairly common....
...

I started smoking when I was 11 years old, yeah, I know, so young. Long story there, but anyway, I enjoyed smoking. It helped to relax me, it was my crunch to lean on during a argument or heavy discussion on topics I didn't want to talk about. For over 8 years I continued to smoke, but it start to become not worth it, Cigarettes were going up, I was breathing heavier and I was now older and starting to think of starting a family...I tried a couple of times to stop, but couldn't do it. Another year later, I did quit....Sadly, only to start back up again 9 months later. With each pregnancy, I felt guilty and tried and tried. NO, success at all. I tried everything except hypnois, which one of our best friends did do the hypnois and it worked for 5 years and he started up again. 45 years later, was still puffing away, when I was diagnoised with Breast Cancer. I begged the doctor's to help me quit, but they wouldn't help me as they stated my body was going through to much to...
...

I have smoked for 28 years. Have tried gum, lozenges, nictone patches, lozenges and patches together, Cold turkey (lasted maybe 1-2 hours) and now Chantix. I have tried Chantix once before but because of the nausea i stopped after 1 week. It probably didn't help that I did not read the directions about taking with food and a glass of water. Well, anyway I am on day 3 of my second round with the Chantix. As long as I take it with food and water I have had no nausea at all. I am only 43 but I had a little problem with my heart over the summer and I feel like this is my last shot at quitting smoking for good. I have read many of the reviews and I appreciate people sharing their experience, it is why I decided to give this a try again. My quit date is Saturday and I will keep you posted. I'm nervous but hopeful. Wish me luck.

I am writing this Review because I would like to recommend the GREEN SMOKE E-Cigarette. I am a 52 year old smoker that has been smoking for the last 35 years. The doctors have all recommended that I quit smoking, and they have all prescribed me stop smoking aids. That did not work may I add. I am on a breathing inhaler and a breathing machine. I also have COPD and Chronic Bronchitis. I found this product online an decided to order it. It said it had no Tar or any bad Carcinogenics that could get into my lungs. It also said that I could order from 0mg to 16mg of nicotine. Which I am highly addicted to. So I started out with the 16mg since I smoke 3packs a day of regular cigarettes. To my surprise I found that it truely works. I am now down to the 2mg. I am not having to use my inhalers nearly as much. It has drastically improved my life. I can now walk a flight of stairs with out getting winded. I give GREEN SMOKE 2 thumbs up!!!

I have smoked most of my life. I decided once and for all to stop this nasty, expensive habit. I got chantix and I have been so impressed. It immediately took away the pleasure of the drag. I was ready to give them up on my quit day. The only side effects were some nausea and the vivid dreams. I found that if I took them right after a meal and drank plenty of water, the nausea went away. It has been three weeks now and I feel better already. My clothes don't stink anymore and my hair doesn't either. I no longer have a greenish tongue. And I am not spending money to be burnt up. My husband is next. I truly hope he has the wonderful results I have had.
...

I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to quit, but the cost of smoking was going up and I figured there were plenty of things I'd rather do with the $$. Since my husband was also going to quit, I felt like I finally had the support I'd missed all the other times I'd tried to quit and failed...

My health insurance paid for Chantix. I had to go get the prescription from my doctor first, though. It worked very well for me. I started off with .5mg twice a day for 21 days. Then I went to 1mg twice a day--I had a 30 day supply with 1 refill, but I only took it for about 3 weeks. The only side effect I had was sleeplessness, and I didn't like that so I quit taking it. No problem--I had no desire to smoke anymore. I have been smoke free for a year now, and I had smoked for 39 years (since I was 16.) Occasionally I will think to myself--boy, if I still smoked I'd have a cigarette right now. But then I think--well, I'm not a smoker, so that's not an option. Then I forget about...
...

My doctor reccommended for me to quit smoking, but i haven't been able to "kick" the habit yet. so she then reccommended for me to slowly try to cut back 1 step at a time. i started smoking when i was 12 yrs old (i'm 28 now) up to 2 whole packs of filtered smokes a DAY!!!

i recently have been diagnosed with asthma and that i'm at a higher risk for all sorts of breathing problems, (including lung cancer) i've seen that as a serious sign to think really hard about cutting back and quitting.

i've gone for 5 days without any type of nicotine, and just chewing this gum, i did really GREAT!!! the whole week went by without a problem whatsoever...

but on the 2nd--3rd week of quitting, it got really hard for me...i know that a lot of people say the 1st week is the hardest, but it was the opposite for me....i just couldn't deal with the gum nor the cravings anymore and started smoking again

now, i'm trying once more, and i've found that i smoke way more during the day than i do at night-time,...
...

It is true: Chantix is not meant for everyone. But it is working for me and I find my cravings to smoke cigarettes diminishing with every week. I have tried to quit smoking before and found nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and Wellbutrin (generic: Bupropion) ineffective; or rather, they worked for a short period of time, but did not keep me from starting to smoke again.

A big side effect and deterrent of Chantix is headache. My mother tried it first and after 3 days, quit due to that side effect. However, I started the medication and have been side effect free, except for the bouts of nausea sometimes caused by trying to smoke while on the medication. That means that even though a family member or a friend or someone you know may have experienced a negative side effect, that doesn't mean you will. Everyone is different, and unless you have a contraindicated disease state or precursor, isn't it worth a try? To stop smoking?
...

My bf kept bugging me to quit I figured i'll give it a shot maybe i'll get lucky and it will help me kick this disgusting habit that I can't seem to handle doing on my own. The first few days were okay.. I was just really happy and proud of myself for taking that huge step. I was still smoking cigs bc you're supposed to smoke for like 7days on it I think it was? But anyways after a few days I became extremely tired and angry all the time.. I did nothing at all but sleep and cry. and i was STILL smoking. It was NOT withdrawls. I couldn't stand being around anyone.. not even my bf who made me (and still does =]) the happiest girl in the world.

I have been a smoker for 15 years. I've tried gum, patches, cold turkey, wellbutrin, you name it and I tried it, and failed. My friend told me how she quit smoking using the drug Chantix. She was a chain smoker so I was very curious and surprised. I asked my doctor about the drug and she prescribed it. At first, I was hesitant because the prescription was expensive but then I realized I spent that much money buying cigarettes so I had no real excuse not to try it. It's amazing. After the third day I realized I had gone all morning and not reached for a cigarette. It completely blocked my urge to smoke. Now, 8 weeks later I haven't had a cigarette and I'm so happy. The only side effects I felt were nausea if I took the pill on an empty stomach and I did have very vivid dreams. Other than that, it's like a magic pill. I told my friend about it and now she's quit too! it's so nice not to be a slave to such a nasty habit and to have clean smelling clothes! It's also nice to have the extra money...
...

tinaprotsman says "Chantix stopped our smoking!" about CHANTIX

I tried the over-the-counter medicine called Chantix. Me and mu husband were both trying to quit smoking, and nothing else was working, so we got this medicine from our doctor. At first you start with only a half a dosage, and still smoke for the first week. No real side effects at that point. After the first week, you have to stop smoking, and then the side effects come to your door. The side effects are kind of hard to deal with, but if you really want, or need to stop smoking they can be well worth it. We have 3 small kids, so it got kinda rough, but in the end, we were able to stop smoking. We had headaches, real bad emotions going off the wall, and neasua pretty badly. But again, if you want to stop smoking bad enough, it is worth it. I was told you should stay on the medicine for at least 6 months, but we stopped after the first month because we didnt want those side effects and longer. Good luck to anyone who needs to stop smoking, this medicine really helps!
...

DarleneKay says "Chantix works, but you have to want it and work it too!" about CHANTIX

I have just completed the Chantix program. I only took the pill 4 weeks. I started with the 5 mg. pack and followed it to a "T". But when I started the 1 mg. pack, I took the morning pill every day and I alternated the evening dose to every other day. I was very nervous about taking Chantix because of the potential side effects and reading negative reviews. But as my husband and doctor said, "just take the pill!" I needed to realize that everytime I lit a cigarette I was taking more risks and exposing myself to deadlier side effects! The key for me was to have a support system in place. My husband and my doctor know my personality very well and made me feel confident and comfortable enough to take each day one at a time. If I showed any signs of a serious side effect, we had a back up plan in place. The three side effects that I did experience were nausea, vivid dreams, and mild insomnia. The dreams were not scary. They were more 3D and in real-time. I highly recommend that you eat a...
...

cyndyc007 says "For me the Chantix cure was way worse than the disease" about CHANTIX

Perhaps my smoking only about 5 cigarettes a day doesn't warrant Chantix. I felt nauseous (all the time) and like my body was being overloaded with nicotine even though I cut the cigarettes down to about 2 a day. It was a horrible feeling, like the my skin at been turned inside out and someone was pouring gasoline on it.. To add insult to injury, my insurance wouldn't pay for it ($110 for a month's supply) and we have pretty good insurance. I hung with Chantix for a week but had to stop and I'm still feeling nauseous even after not having in my system for 2 days. I hope it stops tomorrow. I've quite smoking before and it was never as bad as taking the Chantix. The good news is that I don't want to have to go through this anymore. I quit it all!...
