I started smoking when I was 11 years old, yeah, I know, so young. Long story there, but anyway, I enjoyed smoking. It helped to relax me, it was my crunch to lean on during a argument or heavy discussion on topics I didn't want to talk about. For over 8 years I continued to smoke, but it start to become not worth it, Cigarettes were going up, I was breathing heavier and I was now older and starting to think of starting a family...I tried a couple of times to stop, but couldn't do it. Another year later, I did quit....Sadly, only to start back up again 9 months later. With each pregnancy, I felt guilty and tried and tried. NO, success at all. I tried everything except hypnois, which one of our best friends did do the hypnois and it worked for 5 years and he started up again. 45 years later, was still puffing away, when I was diagnoised with Breast Cancer. I begged the doctor's to help me quit, but they wouldn't help me as they stated my body was going through to much to...
...

SpunkyJunky says "Here's hoping......." about CHANTIX

I have smoked for 28 years. Have tried gum, lozenges, nictone patches, lozenges and patches together, Cold turkey (lasted maybe 1-2 hours) and now Chantix. I have tried Chantix once before but because of the nausea i stopped after 1 week. It probably didn't help that I did not read the directions about taking with food and a glass of water. Well, anyway I am on day 3 of my second round with the Chantix. As long as I take it with food and water I have had no nausea at all. I am only 43 but I had a little problem with my heart over the summer and I feel like this is my last shot at quitting smoking for good. I have read many of the reviews and I appreciate people sharing their experience, it is why I decided to give this a try again. My quit date is Saturday and I will keep you posted. I'm nervous but hopeful. Wish my luck.
...

chall50 says "GREEN SMOKE's have Saved My Life, Order 0mg-16mg! No TAR" about e-cigarettes GREEN SMOKE E-Cigarettes

I am writing this Review because I would like to recommend the GREEN SMOKE E-Cigarette. I am a 52 year old smoker that has been smoking for the last 35 years. The doctors have all recommended that I quit smoking, and they have all prescribed me stop smoking aids. That did not work may I add. I am on a breathing inhaler and a breathing machine. I also have COPD and Chronic Bronchitis. I found this product online an decided to order it. It said it had no Tar or any bad Carcinogenics that could get into my lungs. It also said that I could order from 0mg to 16mg of nicotine. Which I am highly addicted to. So I started out with the 16mg since I smoke 3packs a day of regular cigarettes. To my surprise I found that it truely works. I am now down to the 2mg. I am not having to use my inhalers nearly as much. It has drastically improved my life. I can now walk a flight of stairs with out getting winded. I give GREEN SMOKE 2 thumbs up!!!

I am a military member. I smoked when I woke, ate, and slept, and every moment in between. I married a woman who smoked, and our life was scheduled around smoking. We recently decided to attempt pregnancy. Our first step was to quit smoking. The base where I am stationed offered a smoking cessation program with Chantix. They provided every side effect up front and released the medication the first day. We smoked for the first week, the first pack of Chantix. By day four, cigarettes were tasting stale and cravings were minimal. We were able to quit on day seven. Irritablility, increased dreaming, and nausea are our primary side effects. All are worth quitting smoking.
...

nanarules says "chantix is an amazing help" about CHANTIX

I have smoked most of my life. I decided once and for all to stop this nasty, expensive habit. I got chantix and I have been so impressed. It immediately took away the pleasure of the drag. I was ready to give them up on my quit day. The only side effects were some nausea and the vivid dreams. I found that if I took them right after a meal and drank plenty of water, the nausea went away. It has been three weeks now and I feel better already. My clothes don't stink anymore and my hair doesn't either. I no longer have a greenish tongue. And I am not spending money to be burnt up. My husband is next. I truly hope he has the wonderful results I have had.
...

apple123 says "I only needed to take it for 45 days...smoke free now for a year" about CHANTIX

I was so afraid that I wouldn't be able to quit, but the cost of smoking was going up and I figured there were plenty of things I'd rather do with the $$. Since my husband was also going to quit, I felt like I finally had the support I'd missed all the other times I'd tried to quit and failed...

My health insurance paid for Chantix. I had to go get the prescription from my doctor first, though. It worked very well for me. I started off with .5mg twice a day for 21 days. Then I went to 1mg twice a day--I had a 30 day supply with 1 refill, but I only took it for about 3 weeks. The only side effect I had was sleeplessness, and I didn't like that so I quit taking it. No problem--I had no desire to smoke anymore. I have been smoke free for a year now, and I had smoked for 39 years (since I was 16.) Occasionally I will think to myself--boy, if I still smoked I'd have a cigarette right now. But then I think--well, I'm not a smoker, so that's not an option. Then I forget about...
...

My doctor reccommended for me to quit smoking, but i haven't been able to "kick" the habit yet. so she then reccommended for me to slowly try to cut back 1 step at a time. i started smoking when i was 12 yrs old (i'm 28 now) up to 2 whole packs of filtered smokes a DAY!!!

i recently have been diagnosed with asthma and that i'm at a higher risk for all sorts of breathing problems, (including lung cancer) i've seen that as a serious sign to think really hard about cutting back and quitting.

i've gone for 5 days without any type of nicotine, and just chewing this gum, i did really GREAT!!! the whole week went by without a problem whatsoever...

but on the 2nd--3rd week of quitting, it got really hard for me...i know that a lot of people say the 1st week is the hardest, but it was the opposite for me....i just couldn't deal with the gum nor the cravings anymore and started smoking again

now, i'm trying once more, and i've found that i smoke way more during the day than i do at night-time,...
...

TimothyL says "Chantix is effective in curbing the craving to smoke." about CHANTIX

It is true: Chantix is not meant for everyone. But it is working for me and I find my cravings to smoke cigarettes diminishing with every week. I have tried to quit smoking before and found nicotine patches, nicotine gum, and Wellbutrin (generic: Bupropion) ineffective; or rather, they worked for a short period of time, but did not keep me from starting to smoke again.

A big side effect and deterrent of Chantix is headache. My mother tried it first and after 3 days, quit due to that side effect. However, I started the medication and have been side effect free, except for the bouts of nausea sometimes caused by trying to smoke while on the medication. That means that even though a family member or a friend or someone you know may have experienced a negative side effect, that doesn't mean you will. Everyone is different, and unless you have a contraindicated disease state or precursor, isn't it worth a try? To stop smoking?
...

But I did try Chantix a few months ago (May 2009) to be exact. I heard about it.. My bf kept bugging me to quit I figured i'll give it a shot maybe i'll get lucky and it will help me kick this disgusting habit that I can't seem to handle doing on my own. The first few days were okay.. I was just really happy and proud of myself for taking that huge step. I was still smoking cigs bc you're supposed to smoke for like 7days on it I think it was? But anyways after a few days I became extremely tired and angry all the time.. I did nothing at all but sleep and cry. and i was STILL smoking. It was NOT withdrawls. I couldn't stand being around anyone.. not even my bf who made me (and still does =]) the happiest girl in the world. I had no desire to do anything...at all. except cry and sleep and hate myself. and i have no history of depression at all. it became so bad that i didnt...
...

I have just completed the Chantix program. I only took the pill 4 weeks. I started with the 5 mg. pack and followed it to a "T". But when I started the 1 mg. pack, I took the morning pill every day and I alternated the evening dose to every other day. I was very nervous about taking Chantix because of the potential side effects and reading negative reviews. But as my husband and doctor said, "just take the pill!" I needed to realize that everytime I lit a cigarette I was taking more risks and exposing myself to deadlier side effects! The key for me was to have a support system in place. My husband and my doctor know my personality very well and made me feel confident and comfortable enough to take each day one at a time. If I showed any signs of a serious side effect, we had a back up plan in place. The three side effects that I did experience were nausea, vivid dreams, and mild insomnia. The dreams were not scary. They were more 3D and in real-time. I highly recommend that you eat a...
...

Perhaps my smoking only about 5 cigarettes a day doesn't warrant Chantix. I felt nauseous (all the time) and like my body was being overloaded with nicotine even though I cut the cigarettes down to about 2 a day. It was a horrible feeling, like the my skin at been turned inside out and someone was pouring gasoline on it.. To add insult to injury, my insurance wouldn't pay for it ($110 for a month's supply) and we have pretty good insurance. I hung with Chantix for a week but had to stop and I'm still feeling nauseous even after not having in my system for 2 days. I hope it stops tomorrow. I've quite smoking before and it was never as bad as taking the Chantix. The good news is that I don't want to have to go through this anymore. I quit it all!...

I'm happy to say that I no longer smoke after 30 years. I quit once, cold turkey for 3 ½ years but thought about smoking every day of those 3 ½ years. I've now been of cigarettes for almost 3 years and NEVER think about smoking EVER. Sounds too good to be true? Sure it does, unless you take Chantix.

You must take the required dosage (3 months when I took it) even after you stop smoking. When I took Chantix, it wasn't covered by insurance, but it was the BEST money I've ever spent and would do it all over again.

Does everybody stop smoking after using Chantix? NO, but you could be one of the many fortunate people it did help to quit. What do you have to loose? YOU must really want to stop smoking for it to work. Don't give in to all the excuses why you don't want to try Chantix.

After taking Chantix for a couple days, my smoking habit had almost disappeared. I didn't want a cigarette, and the thought of having one made me sick, But the journey to get to this point was no easy ride. I'd have to say the nightmares were the worst. I would wake up in the middle of the night, not able to move and scared shitless. The Dreams I had while taking chantix were the most vivid and real I had ever had. These Dreams or more appropriately nightmares, didn't happen once in a while but happened every night I took the PM dosage. Some days I would wake up in the morning and have to make sure that what happened in the nightmare didn't actually happen. On Top of the Night mares, I was tired all the time, and felt like I didn't really sleep at all because of the night tremors. It seemed the whole time I was taking Chantix I was in a deep haze. So my recommendation to you, If you are completely willing to take Chantix than take it, but DO NOT take all the pills for the whole six months,...
...

I had tried several other times to quit with other products on the market i.e gum, patches etc. Then in August of 2007 I read about Chantix. All reviews, medical reports good and bad. I got the prescription and started it in Sept. of 2007. My target date to quit was Sept. 30th. On the Friday before, I lit a cigarette and it tasted so bad I threw it away and never had another one since. Sept. 28, 2009 will be 2 years of freedom from that shackle. People that know me have said they never would have believed it if they hadn't seen it for themselves that I do not smoke any more. In no way did I show any signs of depression because of Chantix. Quite the contrary, it made me feel better about myself knowing I would be free of this addiction. I am now saving over $5,000 a year by not smoking.
...

finallyxsmoker says "If you really want to quit smoking, Chantix is THE way!" about CHANTIX

I smoked for 36 years. Tried every product out there. Zyban, patches, gum, hypnosis, herbal pills, you name it I tried it! Nothing worked. Withdrawal was terrible, headaches and mood swings. Chantix changed all that. I took it for 3 weeks before I quit. I did have very vivid dreams and always took it with food. I continued taking it for 9 weeks after my last cigarette. I did not have any withdrawal at all! The smell of cigarette's did not smell good to me. Others around me smoked and I was not even tempted! I have been smoke free over 2 years now. If you really want to quit then Chantix is for you. Yes,be aware of any side affects as with any medication. I recommend product to everyone I know. It comes as close to a miracle pill for smokers as-anything ever will.

Vocalek says "Whenever I quit smoking, I got sick. Not with e-cigarettes." about e-cigarettes e-cigarettes

I smoked tobacco cigarettes for 45 years. Every time I quit, I would get sick. What a coincidence! When I started doing some research, I learned that nicotine is very effective at warding off depression and anxiety, and also improves attention, concentration, visual memory, and hence performance. No wonder I felt so blue, so confused, like I was literally walking around in a fog when I abstained from nicotine.

I managed to stay totally off nicotine for 6 months, and kept waiting for the recovery that never came. Oh there were a few improvements in some things, but not in my thinking abilities. I kept making mistakes and having to redo my work. When my boss had a chat with my about my lack of productivity, I went back to the doctor and asked for treatment to fix my concentration and memory problems. She told me there was nothing she could do; I told her I had no choice but to start smoking again.

In the years since, as various nicotine replacement products became available,...
...

bhooven says "Chantix brings hope to the hopeless!" about CHANTIX

I have used smokeless tobacco for close to 20 years. There was absolutely no hope for me. i have tried to peel the gorilla off my back several times in the past. Nothing worked; mainly because of the fear of the withdrawl symptoms. Before i would even quit, i would find myself making excuses to slip up. My brother-in-law quit smoking very recently and he told me he did it with Chantix. I was very sceptical because he told me he had hardly any withdrawl symptoms. I have heard that before and tried that before, So..... I went and filled my prescription. I was stoked that i had 7 days after taking my first pill to officially quit. After the third day of taking the pill, i officially quit. I still had thoughts of filling my lip, but mainly just out of habbit, not because of some overwhelming urge. Had I done this alone, i have no doubt that i would be nursing the gorilla again. This product really did work for me. It makes quitting possible for people that had no hope of quitting. Good luck!...
...
