We all enjoyed our Thanksgiving feast today at my friend's house in Brookfield and afterward, as I was chatting with my hostess in her kitchen, I noticed a box of Viactive Calcium Chews sitting on a countertop. I had been curious about this product for a long time and as it just so happened, I had forgotten to take my morning dose of my usual CVS Pharmacy Calcium 600 + D Supplement so I waded right in and asked my friend for one of her Viactiv Calcium Chews.

I won't lie to you and say that these chews are as good as Fannie May caramels. They aren't but they are delicious just the same with no hint of an aftertaste or calamitous digestive side effect. I thought they were QUITE chewy and I suggest -- unless you really have 100% confidence in your teeth and fillings -- that you suck on a Viactive chew to soften it a little instead of chomping right down. I absolutley LOVE this product!! I sit for my nephew and I make him the peach green tea as an iced tea instead of soda or juice boxes and he loves it. It's so much better because there are no calories, sugars or caffeine. HerbaSway also makes a chocolate concentrate that makes the best soy chocolate milk in the world. Yup, no calories or sugar and still caffeine free. I use this as my diet helper. I put this on vanilla yogurt with some granola for my cheat treat. Flintstones Vitamins are very cute and easy to chew up. My kids love these things as I did when I was a kid. Now that I'm grown I don't like the vitamin taste but still chew one every once in awhile. A multivitamin with Vitamin A, C, D, E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin B, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Sodium and Carbs and Sugar. Chew 1 tablet a day adults and children over the age of 2. My 2 year old son LOVES these and wakes up every morning wanting his vitamin which is great! He won't let me forget. I love that the little bottle has a child lock lid so they cannot try to open it and get into them. It is possible for these to hurt your child if they do have more than the recommended amount. CVS brand Vitamin D 1000 units rocks! I often go to CVS to pick up my prescription medications. The prices are good, and I trust the people and pharmacists there. They seem to know exactly what I need to feel better.

The other day I received a call from my doctor regarding my prescription medications he prescribes me. I have hypothyroidism and am taking 2 different medications. According to my doctor, he said that I would need to start a Vitamin D supplement as my calcium levels were borderline abnormal, and my weight has increased considerably in the last 2 years.

I'm not sure if you know this, but Vitamin D helps to regulate calcium levels in your blood and in the tissues. It also has an indirect relationship to weight. If you are at optimum Vitamin D levels, your weight should be about normal for your height. Also, the more fat you have in your body, the less chance that Vitamin D can do its job.

I did some research and like the fact that the vitamins are in liquid form (less damage on your organs to process). Also, with one morning shot of somthing that tastes like orange juice is easy for me, my husband and my 2 year old to take. I've been taking them daily for about 5 months and have felt a lot better. I do notice when I haven't taken them.

Also, not that it's a big deal, but my eyelashes have grown noticably longer and my hair looks better. Yes, it's pricey, but taking good pill vitamins at the store run about $40 a month, so $20 more per month was worth it to actually take them (it's in a container in my fridge and I see it every morning) and they're liquid with 100% of what I need. I like the trace minerals too since that's something left out of a lot of pill vitamins.
