I recently used Nexcare Waterproof Bandages to cover a small red patch on my arm. They really are waterproof and if that's your main concern, and you don't mind pain, then these are for you. When I removed a Nexcare Waterproof Bandage, the adhesive literally pulled the skin off my arm. It was very painful, but it's even more painful now, and I'm left with a scab and swollen lump where the bandage adhered to my skin. Further, even where the adhesive did not pull my skin off, my arm is red and raw where the bandage adhered to my skin. Unless you want to lose a layer of dermis, don't use these.
...

chiobiker2011 says "Worked great on my blister" about Band-Aid Advanced Healing Gel Strips

These new bandaids with the gel healing surface have become a lifesaver for me in helping to gently heal blisters that I always seem to acquire from new shoes! These bandaids seem to be much more resistant to water, sweat, or other disturbances that might cause them to fall off or come out of place in places where bandaids typically do not stay well, such as the back of the foot. The gel is placed in the middle of the bandaid, and I have really found that it does improve healing times, whether it be because of the medication in the gel or just because a covering is secure over the wound. I am a big advocate of quick healing for little scrapes because the rate of infections is high in open wounds, and getting it quickly healed can make all of the difference! The product is a little more expensive than regular bandaids, but these are great for any size wound as they come in multiple sizes, and are definitely going to be a healthier alternative that will keep bacteria and infection...
...

CherylBarrel says "An indispensable item for your first aid kit." about New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage

I recently cut my hand on a pair of sharp scissors, which is an area in that normal bandages are hard to apply let alone stay put. I placed a few drops of the liquid bandages on both cuts, and I was pleased with how well it worked. It did sting a little, but not much. I have used liquid bandages in the past for finger cuts, however, did not appreciate the awkwardness of unwrapping the paper and using a stick. This product comes in a bottle with the wand to apply the liquid skin. You don't need to open a new paper to get the wand or squeeze out the product from a bottle onto a wand. There is also quite a bit of liquid skin in the bottle compared to the products in the past where you got a teeny, tiny bottle. I believe this product is well worth stocking in your medicine cabinet for those little wounds like paper cuts or small scratches, especially on those areas of the skin which cannot be covered with the traditional band aids.
...

JovialCougar says "Mild blisters melted away with Dr Scholl's" about Dr Scholl's Blister Treatment

I got a good size blister on my foot recently after doing a lot of walking. At first I just let it go - figuring it would heal on its own. However, it got worse! That's when I went out and bought Dr Scholl's Blister Treatment in an attempt to get the blister healed.

Dr Scholl's Blister Treatment contains sterile cushions (they call them cushions) which are like a very thin Band Aide. Each one is oval shaped, individually wrapped, and sterile. After washing the blistered area just place the bandage on and it will adhere quickly.

The first day I wore one of these blister bandages it didn't do much. However, I replaced the bandage each day with a fresh one and within 3-4 days the blister was greatly reduced and soon disappeared. Wow - it really worked.

The blister bandages are so thin I could not feel it once it was in place and I had my socks on. Also, it doesn't budge. Actually, the adhesive was a bit hard to wash off when I removed the bandage at nighttime.

j9j says "Works great to hold on non-stick pads or gauze pads" about HEB 2" Tender Tape

HEB 2" Tender Tape works great to hold on non-stick pads or gauze pads. I also really like the 1" tape for smaller jobs (like toes). This stuff sticks to itself and not the hair. Unlike regular tape, it doesn't leave residue. It's latex free (good because I'm allergic to latex).

Not only is this stuff much cheeper than the namebrands (Johnson and Johnson, Nexcare, etc.) it works better. The J&J one doesn't work well at all. It doesn't "stick" to itself very well and tends to unravel easily. The HEB version doesn't have the same problem. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. My only complaint is that there isn't a great deal on each roll, so you go through it fairly quickly (although it has as much as the name brands).

I also like the fact that this is atleast somewhat "flesh" tone in colour. It's the only one i could find that came in a colour other than white. I like the flesh tone because it makes it a little less obvious that you have a wound wrapped up.
...

AngiBowman says "Creative Band-Aid Alternative Falls Flat" about New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage

On the surface, New Skin sounds like an excellent idea - instead of reaching for a pesky, wasteful band-aid, pull out New Skin! Simply paint it on, let it dry and you're good to go and protected from infection and further pain.

Right?

We all have those random cuts - paper cuts, accidents, etc. It's not unusual to think, "how the heck am I going to get a band-aid to stay on here?" You know the cuts I'm talking about.

Unfortunately, while New Skin does offer an attractive alternative, it also falls very flat.

How It Works

Directions are straightforward -

1) Clean area
2) Apply small amount to affect area 1-3 times daily
3) Let dry
4) Apply a second coat as necessary

Basically, it's a plastic-like liquid bandage that is painted on to your injury instead of applying a band-aid.

The Good

For one, it's easy to apply. It feels like nail polish going on and has a very nail polish-esque smell. It's also nice for hang nails and protects the nail bed from further injury. It's waterproof and really does...
...

seeker1964 says "Convenient but Stings" about New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage

At first I thought that I could replace some of the bandages in my first aid kit with the New Skin liquid bandage. It is an antiseptic and bandage all in one. However, it is somewhat difficult to use because it does not work on bleeding wounds. It is washed away by blood. It also does not work on large wound. It stings when it is applied and stinks like fingernail polish. It is applied with a brush just like nail polish and needs a few minutes to dry. New Skin does, however, work on smaller wounds and has the advantage of being breathable. It claims to last more than a day, but I have found that re-applications are required every few hours, depending on how often the affected area is washed or rubbed. For small wounds like paper cuts or scratches it is OK, however, I would probably not buy it again because of the lack of versatility. I think that the concept of new skin is a good, but the implementation falls short of the expectations.
...

THEY ARE OVER THE COUNTER SO THAT MEANS YOU PAY FOR THEM YOURSLEF AS INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER UNLESS YOU GET A NOTE FROM YOUR DOCTOR AND THEN SOME INSURANCE WILL COVER, MINE WILL NOT!!! I HAVE BEEN USING THEM REGULARLY FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS AND THEY ARE WONDERFUL. MY DOCTOR DISMISSED ME TO TAKE CARE OF THEM MYSELF AND SAID I WAS DOING A GREAT JOB TAKING CARE OF THEM..I TAKE VITAMIN C AND ZINC TO HELP WITH THE HEALING, THE ULCERS WERE HUGE WHEN I STARTED NOW DOWN TO QUARTER AND DIME SIZE.. THESE BANDAGES WILL EVENTUALLY HEAL THEM..
...

jazzybean01 says "Self adering bandage sticks with the best" about Walgreens 3" Self-Adhering Bandage

My dog likes to rip his nails off if they get to long. Okay so maybe he doesn't do it on purpose, but he's prone to this injury. When I discovered I had no first aid supplies (after moving) I went out and got the Walgreens Self-Adhering Bandage to wrap up his foot until I could get to the vets office.

When I applied the Walgreens Self-Adhering Bandage, I found that the self-adhering part of it worked like it's supposed to. I always add tape at the end because dogs like to chew and it could snag on something. The best part about this bandage (especially because I used it on my dog) is there were no clips or pins to use which I find fall off or get stuck on things.

The Walgreens Self-Adhering Bandage says that it tears easily (although I used the whole thing), it's reusable (for humans as your dog will rip it off), is breathable (no complaints from the dog here), and maintains grip in water (okay if you have a bandage on you might not want to go in water). I think the Walgreens...
...

Katrena says "Assured colored bandages--fun colors at lower price" about Assured Colored Bandages

Assured colored bandages come in boxes of 40 and sell for $1 at our local Dollar Tree. My daughters love the bandages with various characters on them, but those bandages sell for a lot more, and we had a disastrous time with the more expensive Disney Princess bandages.

These bandages are the standard 3 1/4 in X 3 in size, which work well for most wounds, but it would be nice to have an option of a smaller size for small kids, especially when they have a cut on a finger.

These bandages come in five colors:

purple

yellow

blue

green

orange

These are latex-free and we have found them to be easy to apply--my 5-year-old can put these on without any trouble. As a matter of fact, I believe she could put on the whole box if I did not notice that she was awfully quiet in the bathroom. Removing these bandages is easy and simple as well.

The main disadvantage for me is that they are still more expensive than the "ugly" flesh-colored bandages. It would be cool to include some rainbow colored ones or striped...
...

My children LOVE Disney princesses. They can name all of the Disney princesses and even dress up like Snow White and Cinderella on special occasions like a Thursday, going to church, or a visit to the doctor. When I saw these Nexcare Disney princess bandages, I just knew my daughters would be thrilled.

As soon as the girls saw these bandages, they could not wait to injure themselves so that they would have an excuse to use one of these quite expensive 3M waterproof bandages. Before long, an opportunity arose, and my oldest proudly displayed her boo boo while I dutifully doctored the wound.

All was well until it was time to remove the bandage--I'm pretty sure that my daughter said it was beginning to itch. She has a lot of skin sensitivities, but I honestly cannot remember for sure because what happened next kind of overshadowed the whole itching thing. OUCH! OWWW!! THAT HURTS!!! MOM--IT'S NOT COMING OFF!!!! These tattoo bandages stick quite well. So well, in fact, that they seem to...
...

These Scooby-Doo adhesive bandages from Band-Aid are a staple in my home.

My son is very active and has recently started to notice when he gets an owie. For some reason the thought of getting a Scooby-Doo band-aid to cover his cuts and scrapes helps to ease the tears.

The Bandages have a couple different designs. My son isn't even a fan of Scooby-Doo, as we only have one book with Scooby in it, but the bright, colorful cartoons on the band-aid make him happy.

Another great thing about these band-aids is the smaller size. They come in an assortment of sizes, all rectangular, and they fit well on toddler hands and knees. I do with they had a few of the small dot sizes like the ones given with booster shots.

The price is high for only 25 band-aids but I guess that is the price you pay to keep a child happy....

If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm a hand washing fool! I wash my hands probably 50 times OR MORE a day. Because of this, whenever I wear a band-aid, I don't get to keep it on for long. And I go through LOTS of them because I have to keep re-applying them.

So, seeing that Band-Aid had a waterproof bandage, I was willing to pay the price of a little under $ 3.00 for 20 bandages. If they stayed on, I reasoned, I'd actually save money.

Well, let's just say I wont be buying them again. It's not that the band-aid actually came off, because it didn't. It did, however, curl up and kind of pucker around the edges. This made wearing the band-aid uncomfortable, so I ended up removing it and reapplying a new one anyway. And when I tried to not apply a new one, and just "tough it out" the part of the band-aid that had curled up, attracted other material. I actually had lint from my sweater stuck to the band-aid. Not attractive!

I like the fact that the bandages are clear. ...
...

When we were vacationing in FL one year, my daughter, who runs EVERYWHERE, tripped on her towel as we were returning from the pool. She had one of the worst skinned knees I had ever seen. I had a few of the Band-aid Advanced healing band-aids in my purse left over from a burn I suffered on my neck. I put that on her and didn't see a tear or here a cry for the next few days while it was 'healing'-of course the tears flowed before I put it on while I was cleaning her wound! Best thing too, you can't even see it while it's on. When it was time to take it off, the wound had healed enough not to 'seep' or bleed! Perfect!...

We stopped at the drugstore store and picked up a box of 30 for around $3.99.

About Band-Aid Water Block Bandages

These transparent band-aids provide 100% waterproof protection, are flexible, hypoallergenic and have a non-stick pad. They are available in a box of all one size bandages that measure 1in. x 2 1/2 in. or in a box that contains 20 - 1 x 2-1/2 inch and 10 - 3/4 x 2 inch bandages.

My Experience

The next night my son was about to take a shower so I grabbed the box of waterproof band-aid's and began to peel the paper off of each side of the bandage like I do with the regular ones. The paper came off easily but within about a second, the bandage was all stuck together. One down, twenty-nine to go. I unpeeled a second...
...

Meri says "A Better Band-Aid..." about Nexcare Waterproof Clear Bandages

Since the world really didn't want to see the nasty spider bite drama going on near my lips I decided to head over to my local drug store [and look for Patty's Jane Be Pure liquid make-up] to pick up a plain band-aid. It seems I only had Barbie and Spiderman ones in the bathroom. I found a new bandages since I'd last shopped for them and decided on two. One was the Nexcare bandage that was clear and had a different shape that looked like it would fit the chin area better than a traditional bandage. Since oozing was involved I decided on the waterproof ones as well.

After having used them for a few days now I can report that they have been great. First, read the instruction though as they are applied a bit differently than traditional bandages. The unique clear border seals out dirt and water out [because I bought the waterproof ones] yet the clear material also allows breathing. I don't get how it does both but somehow it does.

Made by 3M [which also makes Duct Tape] these bandages......

JovialCougar says "Ace provides quick knee support for minimal cost" about Ace Knee Brace with Side Stabilizers

From time to time I get a dull pain in my knee due to an injury that occurred a number of years ago. It's not a big deal, but I have found that wearing a knee brace offers some support which helps alleviate pain. In my experience the Ace Knee Brace with Side Stabilizers is a good product o help with minor knee pain.

Ace is a well-known brand for braces, supports, and bandages. In my experience most of their products are high-quality items, and this knee brace is no exception. The Ace Knee Brace with Side Stabilizers is about 8" long and made of flexible, breathable materials. It has an opening for the knee cap which allows for easier movement.

This knee brace fits snugly around the knee but should not be too tight. There are two ridges on either side of the brace which help stabilize the knee and also are designed to stimulate the knee ligaments. In my experience the knee brace does provide some comfort and support when I have minor knee pain and helps prevent the pain from worsening....
...

Telpher says "The future of booboo care - Gel Bandages" about Band-Aid Advanced Healing Gel Strips

My partner is a medical professional. As such, our hone first aid kit is ridiculously well stocked. A few days ago, when I got a nasty steam burn, I did what I was supposed to do: run cold water over the wound for ten minutes, make sure the burn was clean and free of bacteria, yadda yadda. I was left with a pretty nasty and painful burn, and I knew the thing to do was cover it, to keep air from irritating it. When I looked for regular, old bandages, I was frustrated by the fancy stuff in our first aid kit. Lots of gauze and triangular bandages and other stuff, but no run-of-the-mill Band Aids. The closest thing I found was a box of Band-Aid brand Advanced Healing Gel Strips.

Remember the Band-Aids your mom put on your cuts when you were a kid? Full of little air holes, they often got ripped up, and full of dirt, and the minue you washed your hands or took a shower, you'd have to change them, because the water soaked in and stayed in and invited all sorts of bacteria to collect around...
...

SpokaneMan says "Band-Aid Clear Adhesives--- Hiding those cuts and scrapes " about Band-Aid Clear Adhesive Bandages

A necessity for nearly every office or home, is to have a ready supply of bandages available for those cuts or scrapes that are sure to come along eventually. It doesn't matter how careful you are, if you work in an office setting, you are going to get a paper cut every now and then. For me, this is something that happens more than I would like to admit, but I am glad that my work actually provides first aid for when it occurs. They have a nice first aid cabinet where there are a bunch of choices to go with, but I like going with the Band-Aid Clear Adhesive Bandages more often than anything else. What they do is allow you to generally hide the cuts that you have, by providing you with a clear adhesive that isn't as visible as your normal bandages. That doesn't mean that you cannot see them, but you have to be looking pretty closely to do so. So, as long as I am moving constantly, the bandages aren't seen from any type of distance. Don't get me wrong, nobody would really care if I had a......
