myavonmary says "A Cost Effective Alternative to the More Expensive SSRI'S WTG " about xanax xanax

Hello again.

I thought I would follow up my last review on lexapro with This review on Xanax.

Old verses New, Tried and True! You better believe it.

Xanax is water soluable, does NOT stay in your system very long and is NOT addictive like the Doctors would like you to believe.

An overall alternative to an older drug Valium, which is "said" to possibly cause liver damage, xanax is a safe alternative to that one as well, and is prescribed in a fraction of the valium dosage.

While the SSRI'S take 10 days to 2 weeks to begin working, what do you do in the meantime when we are panic stricken?

Xanax works in what seems like 5 minutes and one dose is often all you will need for days.

Taken for Accute Anxiety Disorder please ask your Professionals FIRST before taking the Life Long Daily Drug Dependency you will need if taking Prozac, Lexapro, Welbutrin or other like drugs.

Have you noticed how they now have a "kicker-companion" drug to take along with what was once Originally only one drug ...
...

myavonmary says "While This Medication is Excellent for its Intentions, Be Warn.." about Lexapro Lexapro SSRI

Hi Everyone,

This is the first medication review I am doing. As I have the need to take multiple (9) medications for medial conditions I feel like an expert. While I am not an expert in any sense of the word, I do feel qualified to voice a concern as I have been on multiple medications of almost ten years now.

While I was told by the Dr. that the medication Lexapro is THE Safest in the class of SSRI's for my health condition, I was NOT told the interactions that could occur when mixing with other meds.

The first "go-round" with Lexapro lasted 8 months, with side effects ranging from deeper depression, to extreme weight gain and lethargy. Needless to say, I ended this medication, "dealt with" the withdrawl and that was that.

Unfortunately one year later, I found myself needing the Lexapro AGAIN, as my "symptoms" of anxiety were returning. This was the MAIN reason for taking the medication to begin with.

As with most medications, the dosage begins small, at only 10mg daily. Then...
...

auntcathy says "keeps involuntary movement at bay" about mirapex prescription drug

I am a personal caregiver for a long term patient diagnosed with Parkinsons which is now in the latter stages of the disease. What the person experiences is an excess of involuntary movements such as rocking, circling, even sometime to the extent of kicking up and down in extreme situations. The doctor prescribed several medications which were keeping the disease under control but it always seemed to persist and the involuntary movement periods would arise from time to time. By no means are they of the norm and it is even distressing to witness the patient when they are experiencing their symptoms. The doctor then prescribed mirapex which is one of the newest drugs on the market for parkinsons and involuntary movement and we have found it to be very effective. I now don't know where she would be without it it has helped a great deal. The drawbacks is it is a costly med and still under patent so there are no generic forms available. But definitely worth the results.
...

I am a personal caregiver for a parkinsons patient who since having this condition for some ten years now as the symptoms progressed and the disease is moving on began adding another problem to her list of growing ones. As she has become stiff and less mobile and has more and more trouble getting up and around with a walker the next problem occurring was blood pressure dropping upon rising which rendered her unspeakable and faint and at times provoked the onset of seizures. We immediately took her to the neurologist to discuss the problem. Our doctor prescribed depakote which is a medication used to keep blood pressure on an even keel and prevent rapid drops such as those and may I say it has done its job very well. It is now one of her several medications she can't do without and has kept her seizures and what we call "episodes" at bay as much as possible. We think it has been very helpful and effective. She rarely experiences this problem. It is being take 3x daily. She...
...

My mother has been suffering from Parkinsons disease for about 10 years now. As with the disease time moves on and the disease does progess in stages. She is in the latter stages of the disease and has been on unbelievable amounts of monthly prescriptions which keep her condition under control and of course are absolutely keeping her alive. She takes several major parkinsons medications which were keeping her stable but a short time ago began to experience evening and nighttime extreme tremors and shaking which kept her and of course me up all night. They were very strong and the doctor diagnosed this as end of medication dyskinesia which means that the medicines eventually have an overdosal effect which brings on syndromes and then prescribed additional to her agenda amantadine which is another form of tremor medication. We had our doubts as she is moving on but we were miraculously impressed as almost immediately after administration her shaking subsided and eventually fully...
...

When I had my little girl my doctors prescribed this to me to help with the pain. After having a child all natural you need as much help as you can possibly get. When I ran out of my prescription I tried tylenol and Motrin but neihter seemed to help me. But I got another prescription and the pain went away quick.

I kind of have problems swollowing pills and these are kind of large but I do believe it is well worth it. To top it off most insurance companies help pay for it or pay for it all. I didnt have insurance at the time but with Walgreens it didnt cost very much.

Also I didnt use all of my second prescription so I had a few left. When I began to get a tooth ache I would take one and take my orajel and within an hour my toothache was gone and I was back to my happy go lucky self again. So note to all of you who have major pain problems but do not like the major narcatics this is perfect for you!
...

Approximately 3 years ago I began to experience symptoms of depression that became severe to the point of seeking help therapy and medication. I began isolating myself and dissassociating with my family and peers and just wanted to be left alone to wallow in my sorrows. I began seeing a psychiatrist who prescribed the generic of zoloft which is sertraline. Within a short amount of time possibly even less than a week I began to mellow out and along with my therapy began to feel better and confront and resolve my issues. I felt back to my old self again not wanting to shut off and became involved because I felt better about myself again. I definitely credit the medication it did help my symptoms a great deal. I have been taking the medication now for three years and have lowered the dosage at this point and am almost ready to stop taking them. They have helped me a great deal through difficult times. The generic of zoloft is also very cheap.
...

Three years ago I experienced a traumatic period of becoming depressed to the point of isolating myself and no longer taking part in social activities or associating with my friends and family. My condition went from mild depression to severe psychiatric condition. My doctor prescribed risperdal which is a psychiatric medication. Along with therapy I felt relief and began to respond within a week or two. I mellowed out alot it was a very tranquil feeling. One thing I did experience was a disappearance of menstruation which was associated with taking this mediction. Another effect that I experienced on this medication was heavy and frequent intense dreaming but I really enjoyed it. I dreamt on for hours every night but they all were comforting interesting and exciting dreams. I am now off the medication but I do credit it for controlling my depression. The draw back is that it is very expensive.
...

Nexium Stops Acid Reflux. I used to suffer from acid reflux every day. I was miserable. Everything I ate or drank gave me acid reflux. I have tried other reflux medications, Prevacid and Prilosec and all of the over the counter antacids. Nothing I have ever tried worked as well as Nexium does for me. It is proven to be the only Acid Reflux medication that actually helps heal the damage done to your stomach and esophagus by acid. Before taking Nexium, I was throwing up blood, I had a stomach full of ulcers and damage to my esophagus. I couldn't eat any food with tomatoes, Such as Mexican Food, or Italian Food, and those are some of my favorite things to eat. And Chili was the worst, I was always burning and throwing up stomach acid after eating those types of things. Fruit such as lemons or oranges and any other acidic foods. Now I can drink orange juice, eat pizza or chili and any of those other "tabu" food for people suffering from acid relux disease. I would and very often I do,......

My husband has very high cholesterol's and was prescribed by the doctor to get Zetia to take to lower his cholesterol. When we went to pick up the prescription, it was over $400.00 if you didn't have insurance (Part D RX coverage) and was on Tier 3 and was over $100.00 with insurance. This is ridiculous and you can get a generic brand at Walmart for $10.00 for a 90 day supply. I checked into this matter and was advised that they charge so much because they spend so much money on advertising and also sending sales people to doctor's office to get the doctor to prescribe the drug. There is no way that the Zetia can cost so much more than the generic brand. I have heard so many different reports about cholesterol levels and wonder if we really need to take any pills, just eat healthy and I know your cholesterol will go down. The drug company is making a lot of money on this one. We can't afford to pay the amount that Zetia charges.
...

Motrin 800 mg has been a life saver for me twice a day for quite a few years. My arthritis in my finger, toe, spine and shoulders has gotten worse over the years. My doctor wrote a prescription for Motrin 800 mg 3 times a day but I've limited it to two times a day so as not to over do it unless it really gets bad. I had a big test to see how much it really does help me. I had a colonoscopy and had to be off it for at least 3 days. I chose 5 days to be safe. By about day 2 I was in such pain I could barely stand it. Finally on day 3 I dug through the house for something other than and NSAID which was prohibited for the test because of bleeding tendencies. I found Tylenol PM which I took in the middle of the day. Needless to say I got sleepy and that was the end of any activity for the evening but even though it's not prescribed necessarily for joint pain it helped nonetheless. I was so grateful. My husband brought home some regular Tylenol 500 mg which I took until the test. Guess it shows...
...

Lovastatin - Most of you know that Cholestrol in our bodies serves two purposes. The first is to keep blood platelets moving through the arteries so that they don't slow down and build up along our arteries. If we have too high of Bad Cholestrol we can be at double the risk for strokes and Heart Attacks. Some fatal. But if we have low levels of Bad Cholestrol which prevents these attacks from happening, we live healthy long lives. However, too little good Cholestrol will allow bad placque to build up in the arteries. Therefore causing aneurisms and Heart Attacks as well. If we have the right amount of good Cholestrol (good type) and low on the Bad, your body can function normally for many years. However, sometimes, medications like Lovastatin, which is beneficial in removing Bad Cholestrol from the body and helping your heart to also function normally, is also good in helping the body make good Cholestrol to break down Placques.

There are some nasty side effects if this medication is not...
...

There is a downside to using this anti-depressant...which will differ by person:

1. You gain weight...every liquid you drink seems to stay with you forever.

redpsycyhor says "Neurontin is a multipurpose medication." about Neurontin Gabbapentin

There are many medications on the market today that serve dual purposes. Most of these mullt-uses were found by accident. One the of the most versatile medications I have used is Neurtontin also called Gabbapentin.

I intially began taking Neurontin for a condition called "racing thoughts". This is one of many conditions associated with bipolar disease. I had knee replacement performed and one of the medications given to me for pain was Neurtontin. There are other uses for Neurontin but it would take more than a small review to explain in much detail.

The point of my review was to show that many medications have multiple uses. Maybe it's time to review other meditcations that may have several uses. I believe we use an extreme amount of money developing new medications for new diseases or ailments. Many tests done on older meditcations were done before the technology needed was available.

In conclusion I would like to once again stress the point of reviewing...
...

shius36 says "Kaletra is a horse pill not made for horses" about kaletra kaletra

Kaletra is meant to aid in a cocktail to make people better. I know many medications have side effects but the effect of this one is unbelievable. The size of the pill deters some from using this medication almost as much as the side effects. This pill requires one stays out of direct sunlight and it suppresses the appetite. That is a dangerous side effect considering the purpose of the pill. If Glaxo is really concerned about aiding people's health, why cant they devise a liquid form or find another chemical that doesnt cause such drastic side effects? This medication is also difficult to obtain from normal drugstores. There is always a wait or delay on the delivery. Sometimes one has to order through the mail. This is also inconvenient as many users have busy schedules or may cohabitate with people they dont want to be aware of their health status. Oddly enough, I used Kaletra when it was in the test stage and expressed concern then. I guess no one cared.
...

kpkitty says "Citalopram HBR is a clean anti-depressant" about citalopram hbr 20mg anti-depressant

Citalopram HBR (20 Mg) is a very clean anti-depressant. By clean, I mean that there seems to be no bad side effects which can impar digestive health. In other words, no constipation issues and limited bowel movements, which can lead to major problems. I have been taking this drug now for 2 years and have found it to improve my mood swings and depression. It has also has had a positive effect on my anxiety issues, which have decreased over time while taking this drug. I used to take Paxil, but had to discontinue it due to the bad side effects I experienced. Side effects such as weight gain, chronic constipation and mood swings. To date, I have not experienced any of these conditions while taking Citalopram HBR. Although, I do not think my drug is as effective on my mental state as Paxil was, I am happy to be without all the negative health conditions I expericed while on an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety drug long-term.
...
