My doctor prescribed ambien (zolpidem for generic) as I developed insomnia after a year of have my son. I have always been a very active, healthy. About a year in I started developing neck pain. Thought nothing of it. I thought it was from stress or the fact that I'm not getting any younger......2 years passed and the pain was getting extreme. I was having cervial injections, several addictive narcotics prescribed to me, even trips to the E.R!!!!!! This pain made me so depressed and I knew that I needed to stop taking all the pain meds. So after 3 years of chronic pain my husband and I wanted to start for another child. I thought it was crazzzzy at the time because of my pain. But instead it was a blessing. My O.B. instructed to discontinue the ambien, but I could take vicodin as needed, which I did. It wasn't until about 3 days of stopping the Ambiem that I was almost pain-free!!! Could it be?? I couldn't belive it! Sure enough a week went by and I could get out of...

For over a year now I have been watching my diet to combat high cholesterol and 4 months ago I got the thumbs up from my Dr. that I had succeeded in bringing it down to a comfortable level. Other situations in my life however had me depressed and my weight continued to go down because my appetite was less than normal. Last month I was down to 180lbs. and my Dr. was a little concerned about it.

I won't go into details about why, lets just say he felt my depression was not a good thing. I had planned on a 3 week vacation anyway to get my mind on track and after my Dr. visit it turned out to be a good time to test this new medication.

Trazodone (pronounced Tray-zoe-dohn)

The most common use of Trazodone is for Depression but it is also used for Insomnia as well as pain. I am on it for depression which in turn caused me to loose too much weight. It is also used to help the effects of Fibromyalgia so I am getting help in that area as well.

Trazodone really works. It has other uses but I use it for insomnia. I have tried over the counter drugs, homeopathic route none of them worked for me. My doctor put me on Trazodone and my goodness it works , no side effects, no drowsiness in the morning, no hallucinations or sleep walking just a perfect night sleep whether it is four hours or six to eight hours it works. It is a prescriptive drug but it does work... It has different dosages your doctor will be able to determine which is right for you...Try Trazodone it works!

My husband takes this as a sleeping pill and so far we have seen more reasons to STAY AWAY from it than to USE it. First, the 5mg or 10 mg did not make a difference in sleeping. Now, the 15mg dose is giving nasty side effects. My husband is essentially functioning through the night with NO MEMORY OF IT! He cooks, holds conversations, etc as if he were awake. He calls people and starts nasty fights for no reason. More than once I have caught him trying to take MORE PILLS because he thinks he has no idea what he is doing and has no memory of the events in the morning. Luckily he does not live alone- how many people are dying from accidental overdoses?!?!...

I have been taking this medicine for about 6 weeks. I also have been suffering for a severe headache all day and night. Finally I put this together and thought, Hmmmm, just maybe it is the Ambien causing the headache. The last 2 nights I have not taken the Ambien and guess what, no headache.. Coincidence? I'm going to take a pill again tonight just to see if this is what is causing the headaches. I will add my findings when I can....

Lunesta is one of the new class f sleep aids such as Ambien or Rozarem. I suffer from sleeping problems, and my doctor suggested Ambien. It does help in sleeping, but I gave it a 3 out of 5 for two reasons. The first is that I noticed I had to increase the dosage each week to have the same effect (tolerance building). Secondly, the cost of the medicine is very high. If you do not have any health insurance, this is probably not the right medication for you. I think overall the medicine is great for the short term, but if you are going to use long term, Lunesta is probably not the right choice....

Ambien is a good medication for those that are suffering from insommina. It works quickly, let you have a good nights rest, and dose not have that bad hangover effect that many other sleep aids have. However, this medication does not work for everyone, and a physician still needs to be consulted on if this is the proper medication for you....

My friend, John told me that his doctor once give him Ambien Zolpidem tartrate after he worked too much and too tired to fall in sleep. It worked well and help him fall sleep. He also felt refreshed next morning. From then he would take one pill when he couldn't sleep well at night. With time he got used to take one pill before going to bed, which makes his wife worried a little bit and asked him to stop. The problem showed up when he tried to stop taking the pill and found it became even harder for him to fall sleep. Sleeping pill can be addictive. I always suggest my friends to take a walk outdoors if they were inside too much and can't sleep well. Regular exercise or Yoga help much better for their overall sleep and behaviors. Don't overlook the side effects of drugs!...

I was put on this medication a couple of years ago because I could not sleep. It worked great, however, I had a few nasty side effects and got really scared and stopped using it. I would have long memory lapses and would go on the computer and order things and have no knowledge of doing so. I would swear I had gone to bed with my husband and thought he was teasing me when he said I would not come to bed for several hours. When things started showing up that I had ordered and had no memory of doing so I got on the phone with my PCP and she took me off of them. It was a very bad experience for me. Now I just take Tylenol PM if I cannot sleep. be very careful when you use this product....

I have not slept well for some time now and I seen my doctor about my sleep problem so he had me try ambien on a trial. I have not slept this good in a long time! I sleep so much better,I stay a sleep and wake up feeling like I have gotten good sleep and not "Hung Over"

I told a friend about my "Sleepy Pill" and she asked her doctor and as suspected, she too is a fan of better sleep and loves it! I thank the makers of this little pill and my doctor for giving me the prescription. I have not rested so good in so long and it feel GREAT!!

Ambien works very well. I'm authorized to take between 5 to 15 mg depending on how unsleepy I am. I rarely need 15 but when I do take that much it works just that much faster. There is no hangover in the morning. However, I am told that if I talk to someone on the phone 30 minutes after I take them it sounds like I'm drunk. Since I live along I did not realize that--the dog never mentioned it. So I just don't talk on the phone after I take my meds. I also take Melatonin at night which I think helps smooth things out naturally. When I have to take 15 mg a night very many nights in a row I start sleepwalking and don't remember what I've done.For instance I've cleaned the kitchen and also eaten things I did not recall eating. So I try to keep the dosage down to 10 at the most. I've been taking it for 3 years and have not built up a tolerance, needed no increase in dosage. For me, Ambien is my little sandman....

This is a wonderful product. I am taking the CR versoin. The only problem I have is that my insurance company considers it nonformulary which means triple the copayment. It is worth it though for a good nights sleep. We are on a very tight budget but this makes it much easier to function through out the day. I haven't had any side effects. I have been on it for about 6 months and am not dependent on it-- I ran out of it for a couple of weeks and didn't have problems (I get to sleep fine, I don't stay asleep). ...

Lunesta really does help as far as helping sleep, however if I took it and stayed up for longer than 30 minutes I was wide awake all night so it's effectiveness can be overidden. It is fairly expensive and leaves a horrible metallic taste in your mouth that is hard to get rid of...

I was given this medicine to help my insomnia. I took one dose of it and decided it wasn't for me. I was able to sleep after taking it for about three or four hours, then woke up feeling like I had taken speed or something. I wasn't able to get back to sleep for anything, and had to be at work in the morning. Needless to say, I ended up going to work on very little sleep! I really like ambien cr.. I've tried all the prescription sleep drugs and this is the best. There is no weird aftertaste like lunesta. The only problem is the cost and the fact that my insurance company will no longer cover it. I fall asleep quickly and stay asleep all night, whci is wonderful....

This is a pretty good sleeping medicine, The main problem is the aftertaste the next day, it is really annoying, but I've lost weight because I don't want to eat in the morning anymore so I guess that's a good thing. I take this medicine a lot and it does help me fall asleep....

Hi, I have narcolepsy, and am on a "baby" dose of adderal and then at times I take a "baby" dose of provigil, both of which are to keep me awake, I switch because I am in a pulmonary rehab program and the exercise increases my blood pressure worse than when I come in if I take the adderal for it increases it period. I take just 2.5 mg. of adderal and 50 mg of provigil, only one pill or the other, and both keep me awake for 36 hours or more, then I crash and sleep for about the same amount of time. Not very good.
So, for some people like me, be careful about the meds you take, at dr. recommended doses it can be harmful. ...

I have used ambien for many years now. I have also tried lunesta and ambien cr. Out of the three of these types of sleeping medicines ambien is the best. I like it because I don't feel like I can't wake up the next morning. With the other two I have that hung over feeling for several hours.
