babsw17 says "Be Careful" about Nexium Nexium 40 mg

I was on Nexium for 8 years and it cured my heartburn but there are severe side effects. Over 2 years ago, I started developing muscle weakness and numbness in my feet and legs. I work out, so this really baffled me. I went to several doctors and had several tests. No one could find a solution. I started doing research on my own and found out this is one of the side effects of Nexium, also it has been known to cause osteoarthrithis in women. There is only a small percentage of risk of these side effects, but since over 115 million prescriptions are sold annually, a small percentage is not so small. Do your homework on this drug! I have stopped taking it and take zantac before bed and eat healthy and guess what no problems. Side effects are going away. Just be careful!
...

bamafan4life says "This is almost a miracle drug!" about Prevacid Acid Reflux Medicine

Prevacid, the pink and black miracle pill really does what it is advertised to do. For me, one Prevacid a day almost completely elminated my pain and suffering with atypical GERD. I had been suffering for many years with this disease, and had done all the typical things doctors told me to do for treating my GERD. Raising the head of my bed, avoiding certain foods, not eating late at night, and taking a prescription drug were the major modifications that I made in order to alleviate my problems. Those problems were chest and back pain, burning, hoarseness, and difficulty swallowing. I am a teacher, and one day I left school and went straight to my doctor's office, because the pain was so bad and so debilitating, I thought I was having cardiac problems! After a round of tests, GERD was identified as the culprit (yet again) and my doctor changed my medcine to Prevacid. Within days, I felt like a new woman! It worked quickly, and effectively, and I really could tell the difference...
...

msjones1 says "Prevacid is a great treatment for acid reflux." about Prevacid Acid Reflux Medicine

Prevacid is a great medicine for treating acid reflux disease. I used to get horrible, gut-wrenching abdominal pains that would leave me curled up in the fetal position without any relief. I used to take Ibuprofen tablets to get relief from the pains. It was the worst! My doctor suspected I had acid reflux disease and instructed me to follow the "reflux diet": no tomatoes, no chocolate, not fatty or fried foods, no onions, no coffee, no tea, no soda, no spices - awful to a person like me who loves to eat and loves spicy foods! Even though I followed the reflux diet, I still had burning pains in my chest. My doctor prescribed Prevacid to combat the excess acid my stomach was producing. Prevacid provided quick relief for me. The doctor also said that it would heal the damage to my esophagus caused by the excess stomach acid. Prevacid was truly a life saver. I only took it for two months, but it had a tremendous result in stopping the horrible stomach pains.
...

Irishkenzohottie says "This drug has allowed me to life a normal life!" about Prevacid Acid Reflux Medicine

Prevacid was first prescribed to my mother for the treatment of her recurring acid reflux . At times she would suffer from heartburn so severely it was painfull to even eat a piece of white bread. After months of suffering this way the stomach acid caused painful mouth and throat sores, Finally when she could not deal with this any more we were referred to an ear, nose, and throat doctor. The first visit was just a preliminary appointment, we were given many options including surgery. The most reasonable one seemed to be a daily dose of antacids. Aciphex was the first prescription she was given, although it subsided the pain , it did not stop the acid reflux or heal the erosions in the esophagus . After a week or two of trying this medicine my mother realized it was not helping to the extent she needed it to. So with that conclusion we headed back to the Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor to see what our next step would be. By this time I realized I suffer from the same condition as my mother....
...

My seven year old son had something wrong with him, and we didn't know what it was. He had begun vomiting during the night, and complaining of stomach pain. But he would be fine by morning. He would be extremely pale during the time he felt ill, but would be completely fine once the episode was over. At first I thought it was a virus, or something he ate, but it began happening more and more frequently. Concerned, I took him to his Pediatrician.

I was very surprised when the diagnosis came back Acid Reflux. My son is only seven years old, and I wasn't even aware children could have Acid Reflux. His doctor recommended Prevacid SoluTabs. My husband has taken original Prevacid in the past, and it worked great for him, but I had never heard of Solu Tabs. The medication is available through prescription only, and my portion of the amount due (WITH health insurance) was $ 50.00. Pretty pricey, but I knew if it would work for my son like it did for my husband, it would be worth...
...

ht813 says "Prevacid is the best medicine I have ever used for my GERD!" about Prevacid Acid Reflux Medicine

Prevacid works so well for my acid reflux. Before Prevacid I would wake up during the night and not always know why. I would also get "heartburn" so bad that I thought I would die. I never went a day without being nauseated and I always had a nasty taste in my mouth when I woke up in the mornings. Now, with Prevacid, I don't wake up in the middle of the night in pain or for no reason other than having to use the bathroom or having one of my children wake me up. I now wake up in the mornings and do not have a nasty taste in my mouth. I also am confident that when I am nauseated it is not from my GERD but from a virus and I am not nauseated every day like I was before. Prevacid is so easy to take too. I taken one capsule before I go to bed at night and do not have to worry about it again until the next night. I also do not have to worry about having a hard time swallowing it as the capsules are smooth and are small enough that even others who may have trouble swallowing would be able to take......

Katrena says "Have 3 children with GERD--Prevacid is a great product" about Prevacid Acid Reflux Medicine

The good--

I have three beautiful children from 6 years to 9 months. All are on high doses of Prevacid for GERD, but their reflux is controlled well.

I sprinkle the contents of the capsules over applesauce twice a day for each of them. After taking the medicine, the kids can actually eat without pain about 30-60 minutes later. It's been a life-saver for us.

Long-term reflux has risks, not the least of which is an increased risk for cancer of the esophagus. This medication can help reduce the risks of prolonged exposure of acid in the esophagus.

Prevacid is expensive but the company has a rebate program that has helped tremendously to save money. They've improved the rebate program tremendously. You used to have to send in forms for reimbursement. Now you receive a card and the pharmacist can enter the info from the card and you receive the savings instantly.Go to the prevacid website to sign up for the program. Unfortunately, there's a limit of two persons per household on the rebate...
...

Well, we all know what stress does to us. If there are any out there that don't, let me tell you that for most people the stress comes out in our tummys'. Mine is a mild naggine discomfort that tells me I either ate to fast, ate to much or let stress get to me. Well, it used to be the only thing someone would recommend was Kaopectate which I hated. Finally, one day while in CVS, I found the Mylanta plain flavor & tried it & found that it did helped get rid of the pain & coated my tummy.

But, boy was I happy when I seen them come out with Cherry Flavored Mylanta. When I bought it, I thought it can't be bad if it tastes like cherries. And, I was so right. Now, how to take it....if you're like me with the phone ringing & UPS at the door, I keep mine in the fridge & just open the door, open the bottle & take a gulp. I know....Mom always said "Don't drink out of the bottle" but that was millk. Recently my hubby had the tummy flu & I remembered my Cherries in the...
...

LauraBelle says "Makes Me Feel Like Normal" about Protonix Proton Pump Inhibitor

Intro
It's hard for me to take medications for my acid reflux or IBS, because my case it a little more unique. I had surgery to stop my acid reflux and repair a hiatal hernia 20 years ago, and I hadn't had any heartburn since, but did pick up a nasty case IBS somewhere along the line. The IBS has suddenly gotten worse and the heartburn/acid reflux has returned for the first time since that surgery 20 years ago. Typical IBS drugs are not effective, as they make me feel like I'm exploding, but somehow the acid reflux has to be stopped, before I burn out my esophagus yet again. Telling my internist of my woes, he fired off a referral to the gastroenterologist, and also gave me a prescription to a proton pump inhibitor (sounds much worse than it actually is), Protonix.

Usage
My doctor gave me a five day supply of Protonix to try before I buy, knowing I have trouble with some of the more common medications. The great thing about this is that it's just one time a day. It's not something I have to......
