My son had the best results using this medicine as far as controlling his lack of concentration. His symptoms from the medicine included lack of appetite and loss of energy. He wanted to sleep every afternoon after school. The one thing I did not like is the control issues with the drug....

stayceek says "This drug makes such a big difference!" about Adderall XR

I headed back to school 13 years after graduating from high school. I was so psyched, but found I couldn't concentrate, I couldn't remember anything after reading it, and I couldn't force myself to do my homework. Major procrastination. I went to my doc, and he had me fill out a questionaire about ADHD. I fit every one of the criteria, so he had my try Adderall XR. OMG, what a difference! I could read, I coudl study, I got my homework and my housework done and my bills paid and everything! All the things I wouldn't start, or would stop and start, I was doing without pause. I loved it! I did not have any negastive side effects, the only thing is since it is a controlled sustance, I had to go to the clinic to pick up the prescription every month. That was minor. The down side is that I also have Seasonal affective, and that I had to go back on my wellbutrin, which means that the doc took me off the adderall due to it upping risk of seizures when used together. So I have tried to...

My son had failed 7th grade and since before that time he had been complaining about school and wanted to quit. After a while he began treatment for depression. When I would help him with his homework he would get so frustrated and just give up, saying that he did not understand. After his father was diagnosed with dyslexia and other problems I began to wonder if this was my son's problem also. I began trying to get him tested. His school refused to test him because he scored too high on the Iowa tests. Later, the psychiatrist who had been treating his depression diagnosed him as having ADD and put him on Adderall. He began improving almost immediately and once they found the correct dosage he did great. He began getting A's in school, taking correspondence classes from the college to make up the credits he would be missing from graduating due to his past failure of some classes. His senior year he was taking 3...

I really love this medication for my 15 yr old who was diagnosed with ADD when she was in the 1st grade. She had so much trouble with concentrating and sitting still. Her teachers even said that "she was a distraction to herself". After talking to different doctors she was given the Adderall. She has been on it ever since and is now an average kid who does well in school and social...

My daughet was on this medication for almost a year. Over time, she became increasingly aggressive, argumentative, and mean. I thought these were all symptoms of her ADD, but when I talked to some other moms, I decided to take her off the medication and see what happened. The first day, my daughter was so cheerful and happy. She actually told me she liked that day better than the days she took her medicine. She was a completely different child, the sweet girl I remembered. Just beware of these side effects and know it could be the medication and not your...

My five year old son has ADD,ADHD,and Bipolar disorder. He started using Tenex four months ago.And needless to say that it does not work at all,and he has become addicted to it one to of everything else.So if he has to go without his Tenex his blood pressure will go through the roof, and he will become VERY aggitated, which is not a good thing for a five year old to go...

When my son started using this medication he seemed okay for a few days, but it wasn't long till he began refusing any meal placed before him. He cried un controllably and it was hard to comfort him. A week with this medication sent him into a rage at everyone, and he didn't know why. His refusal to eat ended up with a child who didn't have the energy to do anything, he was a bag of bones. — I stopped all use of this drug and went for a more natural medication instead. —...

Kywelder74 says "Can be great for ADHD in Adults" about Adderall XR

I have 2 different views on Adderall XR. The first is on my son. My son was on Adderall and then he was switched to Adderall XR. Once on the Adderall XR he said his brain was talking to him and telling him to do bad stuff, he also said he saw Ghost that were trying to take him under the ground with them. I call and got him in to see the Psychiatrist who stated that the Adderall XR was causing him to have Hallucenations because his system wasn't getting rid of all the medicine like it should. My son was then switched to Concerta. Although it is a rare side effect of the Adderall XR it is something to keep in mind if you child is taking the medicine. — Besides the hallucenations it is really great for ADHD and helped my son's Hyperactivity and concentration. The Adderall XR also helped my son to slow his rate of speaking down so that you could actually understand him when he was talking. Both of us talk very fast and a time it is...

yeni6898 says "Excellent treatment for my ADD" about Adderall XR

This medication is the only thing I've found to help me focus. It also helps me calm down. It starts my day to direction and focus (like I said) and without it I feel like I'm spinning my wheels and going in circles. It's expensive and hard to get filled because you have to physically get the refill in your hand on paper and deliver to a pharmacy. But without it, I feel like I am so scattered and get nothing done. I recommend this medication for the treatment of ADD. — — —...

angel says "Beware, can cause aggression." about Daytrana

For those children who already tend to be aggressive, I would not recommend this product and I don't think that doctors are ready to tell all of the negatives with some medications, especially when they are newer. This medication in particular turned my child into somewhat of a nightmare, and that is putting it lightly. After he had been on the medication I read the package insert and was amazed that after my complaints to the doctor they had not taken him off of this medication. I did learn a lesson, always read package inserts thoroughly and watch for those signs and symptoms that should not be present. Don't always assume that the doctor knows best, they are human just like the rest of us! —...

Tenex was prescribed for my son after several trials of stimulant medication induced high anxiety and tics in my son. It has been a blessing. Tenex has the added bonus of lowering aggression levels too. It has been used for years as an alternative med for kids who do not tolerate stimulant meds. It is a blood pressure med, so it may lower the child's blood pressure. Overall, this medicine has worked wonderfully for my son for over 7...
