WrightLC says "DexCom7 & Hypersensitive Sound Alarm every diabetic must have!" about DexCom DexCom7

The DexCom7 and Hypersensitive Sound Alarm (HSA) are things ever diabetic should own. First, I normally write a recommendation only when something is truly amazing and these products are. So, I feel compelled to tell everyone about their attributes, because they have already saved my life more than once, and I know it could save more lives if people just knew the amazing benefits. I've had diabetes for 30+ years and have never felt so much control over my health and well being as I do today, because of the DexCom7 and HSA. A year ago, my husband and I were forced to live in different cities. It was the first time that I have lived alone in a new city with no resources. As a diabetic, I was terrified that I would die in the middle of the night from a low blood sugar episode. So, I started my search for a continuous blood glucose monitor. I evaluated all the brands and determined the DexCom would be the best choice because it offered: 1) the loudest alarm; 2) the longest time that a sensor...
...

MarytheConsumer says "My doctor thinks I might have Staph. aureus from this" about CVS Pharmacy Brand Self Taking Blood Prssure Monito Model CVSBPSELF

When I developed high blood pressure, my doctor advised me to get a device to check my blood pressure daily.

I chose the CVS Self Taking Blood Pressure Monitor, which consists of a manometer cuff with a permanently attached stethoscope, so that the listening device would always be positioned correctly.

I chose the old fashioned manual type of manometer, since the digital ones may have an electrical malfunction. The manometer and the stethoscope, which operate mechanically, cannot malfunction as long as they are intact.

The instructions say to sit quietly for 5 minutes before taking your blood pressure. I put the stethoscope in my ears for that five minutes, because it is impossible to do so once a manometer is about one's arm. After I did this once or twice, I developed an infection in my ear, even though I had cleaned the earpieces with 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol prior to use. (My doctor said that an item must sit in that alcohol for 6 hours in order to be sterilized.) My doctor...
...

I love this Vicks Humidifer. You put the water in and let it run. It can be a little loud but nothing more than a little back ground noise. We have used this for three years and it has helped each and everyone of our kids. I like that you can put the vicks little strips that omits a nice vicks mentholatum smell. It really helps with colds. It is easy to clean and keep clean. Every once in awhile your suppose to clean it out with some vinegar but worth it to not clean filters and replace them. I tell everyone about it.
...

The One Touch Ultra Smart Diabetes Monitor is so much better than other diabetes monitors I have used. I have been a diabetic for fifteen years. Many times over the years a newly updated version of a meter for testing blood sugar levels comes along and it frankly it isn't much better than its old version. Not true with this model. You use a smaller blood sample to test and you don't have to wait as long for a reading. Plus, I really like the new smaller shape. It fits snuggly in your palm. Takes only moments to get a reuslt and can be tucked quickly and discreetly away. You can take a quick blood sugar reading without it interferring with the flow of whatever else is going on. With the older, bulkier models it took longer to draw enough of a blood sample. Often I had to prick my finger a couple of times to get enough, leaving my finger sore. I am also happy about the color of the case.
...

LoveisJoy says "Take a Lot of Pills? This Weekly Pill Organizer is a Must!" about ICS 7-Day Pill Box Organizer; 4 Compartment White Tray

I am on several medications and each of my pills must be taken 3 or more times per day. A few years ago I found a 7-day pill organizer at the Dollar Store that seemed to work fine. Unfortunately, the compartments weren't large enough to hold all of my MS meds along with my vitamins. I went looking for a replacement and found the perfect solution: The 7-Day Pill Box Organizer 4 Compartment White Tray made in the USA by The Insulin Case Shop.

I found the weekly pill organizer tray at Amazon.com for about $6.60. Each opaque compartment is color coded for each day of the week, and housed in a sturdy white tray. Large black letters on the lid means that anyone with poor vision will have an easier time reading the labels.

Everything fits, yet the entire system is so compact that it doesn't take up much space. For example, the "Morning" compartment is roomy enough to hold a large calcium tablet, a gigantic fish oil capsule, a horse-pill sized potassium tablet, and three other smaller pills....
...

Jo says "Soft Fabric Swivel Seat makes my car mom friendly" about Rose Health Care Soft Fabric Swivel Seat

To the Point

I have been buying my mom every product imaginable to make her life easier. I will be reviewing them because people really need to know what is good and what isn't. The Soft Fabric Swivel Seat is sold by Dynamic Living for $27.00. It can be seen here:

http://www.dynamic-living.com/product/soft-fabric-swivel-seat/FROOGLE/

A Closer View

I got the Soft Fabric Swivel Seat because in the catalog I had and online it looks like it would work. It has two parts which are connected in the center (like a sandwich) by a swiveling piece of plastic.

The top section is 1/2 inch thick. The underneath of the section piece is textured rubber so it doesn't skid on the seat. That's true - it does stay in place.

Neither my mom nor I realized just how easy it was to turn in place using the Soft Fabric Swivel Seat. I've had it for months. Yesterday I was ready to give it a bad rating because my mom said she didn't feel it move. I decided to really test it out and watch her get in my car and move....
...

I have been suffering from RSD/CRPS since 2001. I have been through everything from nerve blocks to simple Occupational Therapy. I have tried tons of pain medication and nerve medications. Nothing has helped me enough to stay on the meds. I felt hopeless and angry. Until my chiropractor told me about the Bio-Mat and suggested I try it. Well, after much research and a lot of fussing around, I purchased it. My distributor said she would loan me hers to try out and see if it helps, but I was so sick of living with this horrible pain that I just bought it. Hoping of course it would work. Needless to say, it is the best item I have purchased in the 8 years I have been living with my RSD. I sleep on it every night and after 2 nights I had noticed the swelling in my ankles from Osteoarthritis has gone down totally. I can finally see my ankle bone again. I can turn over in bed without any pain in my hip from the RSD. It is now 2 1/2 months and the burning and crushing pain is totally gone. I still...
...

Katrena says "Hands Down--Perrry Is Worst Quality Latex Exam Glove I've Used" about Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves

I have worked as a Registered Nurse since 1993, so I have used a LOT of nonsterile latex exam gloves. No other brand comes close to the poor quality of Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves. It seems as if they are getting worse and worse over the years. When the Nurse Aide saw that we had a box of these gloves in the room, she said "Oh no--those aren't good for anything." I would have to agree.

These come in a box and are placed inside of patient rooms on the wall at our facility. They are ambidextrous, meaning that people can wear them on either hand. Nonsterile means that these gloves are clean but cannot be used in sterile procedures.

What I like about Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves:

They must be cheaper since my facility continues to purchase them.

What I do not like about Perry Nonsterile Latex Exam Gloves:

They are VERY poor quality.

I had FOUR gloves in a row to rip, tear, break, or fall apart when I tried to put them on. About 50% of the gloves I pulled out did this throughout...

...

Before I had my baby, I heard some nurse friends discussing this thermometer and thought it sounded like a good idea, so I added it to my registry. We did not receive it as a gift, but when I was in the hospital after giving birth, all the staff there used these types of thermometers. Now that my husband and I had seen them in action, we knew we needed to break down and get one, too.

I'm so glad we did! Before ours arrived in the mail, I tried to take Baby Girl's temperature once or twice with your typical digital thermometer and was afraid I wasn't holding it in the right place and she kept wiggling - it felt like it took forever to beep, indicating her temperature was done. And since I wasn't sure if it was accurate, I had to perform the process all over again just to check! It was enough to make me not want to check her temperature unless I thought she was on death's threshold!

Now, however, I can take her temperature any time I have the slightest inkling that she maybe, possibly,......

The B-D Digital Thermometer Probe Covers fit any brand of digital thermometer and work well for both oral and rectal use. They come packaged 30 to a box so they last a long time.

The covers are sanitary:

I remember the old days when you would have to swab down a thermometer every time it was used with alcohol and pray it killed all of the germs. With B-D Digital Thermometer Probe Covers you don't have to worry anymore. The cover takes the germs to the trash.

The covers are a cinch to use:

Just insert the thermometer into the sheath and peel the outer protective sleeve tab [similar to a band-aid covering] to reveal the new probe cover. The thermometer is ready to use as usual.

The covers are Disposable:

Use each cover once and throw away. That's all there is to it. Grab with a tissue or piece of TP and toss- germs and all.

Summary:

These are a must have item for your first aid kit. The covers help protect other family members from germs, are more sanitary than alcohol swabs and......

This has been a good massager, homedics Percussion Massager PA-200H . We bought it I think about 1 1/2 to 2 years ago. The one thing to always remember is to always unplug it. If you don't it will get very hot, even though its turned off. You can actually here it humming after you turn it off. So please make sure you unplug it. The other thing is its very heavy. If you want something medium or light weight this isn't it. One thing we do like is It has many settings which is great. The heating part I haven't tried much it seems to me like that part isn't all that great.
...

I have used a LOT of different thermometers in a household with three daughters who used to have frequent sinus infections and a husband who really likes data, if you know what I mean.

Comparing Different Types of Thermometers:

Rectal temperatures are the most accurate, but they involve quite a bit of effort, particularly if I am checking high fevers frequently, which is what we did this past February/March when the flu wreaked havoc in our house. Older rectal thermometers in the home may contain mercury, which is no longer recommended due to safety reasons.

Axillary temperatures are easier, but sometimes it is difficult to keep a little one entertained while holding a thermometer under her arm for what seems like an eternity, and axillary thermometers are not particularly accurate.

Tympanic (ear) thermometers tend to have problems with accuracy.
charlied says "Retain your mobility and freedom with this Stair Lift!" about AmeriGlide Ultra Stair Lift

If you can not easily walk up or down the stairs then a stair lift, then you might greatly benefit from a stair lift. A stair lift is a device that is used to carry someone up and down the stairs. A chair is sent up or down the stairs on a track system that is attached directly to the stairs.

AmeriGlide, a manufacturer of home medical equipment, offers a complete line of stair lifts. The AmeriGlide Ultra Standard is one of my favorites. It can support up to 300 pounds and span distances of up to 32 feet. It has a swivel seat to make it easier to get on and off of the device, and it has built in safety sensors that can detect objects on the stairs.

One of the best things about an AmeriGlide stair lift is that it can be installed easily with only household tools. We were able to install it in about 3 hours and it was a very straightforward process.

It can only be installed on straight staircases though, but there are anchors available for attaching it to concrete. This stair lift is very easy......

tgordon06 says "Identifyyourself.com is so affordable and easy to use." about American Medical ID Personalized Medical ID Jewelry

I have an illness that requires for me to be on oxygen and am also allergic to certain medications so my family doctor suggested that I get a medical ID bracelet or necklace of some kind. Sometimes I get very lightheaded when I am on my own and can pass out so I decided to get a medical ID bracelet in case of an emergency while I am by myself. I am young so I was hesitant to get a bracelet because I thought they would cost a fortune. So I go to the website and place my order for my bracelet then to my surprise, the website offered a large discount if I ordered more. Well, my mother and grandmother are both diabetic so I ordered them bracelets as well. My total cost for 3 bracelets that will not tarnish or turn me green, engraved with our individual information, and shipping was a total of $65.00. There were many options and I chose the stainless steel for all of us but they have sterling silver and gold. I strongly recommend this site because of the options, ease of use, and accessories......

tendernesstour says "The only action to be found here is that of a breakdown!" about Invacare Action MVP

One of the most disappointing experiences I've had in the world of lightweight wheelchairs, The Invacare Action MVP (Model #: MVP) is billed as Invacare's action to Sunrise Medical's "Quickie" line of chairs.

Quite simply, it's not.

Virtually every aspect of the Invacare Action MVP screams out mediocrity, from frame construction, to hardware, to seat upholstery and, finally, Invacare's embarrassingly bad customer service.

In other words, everything that is "right" about a "Quickie" goes wrong when it comes to the "Action" chair. To be sure, the Action MVP is more affordable than the "Quickie" line, a fact that has allowed Invacare to snatch much of the state and Vocational Rehabilitation funding from Sunrise Medical. Rest assured, however, that while Quickie may cost a bit more it will prove more durable and long-lasting than the Action MVP.

What are the pros? The Action MVP is, indeed, a lightweight chair. I climb stairs often, and have to lug my wheelchair beside me. This is a manageable...
...

katlnhat says "This is excellent!" about Medline Bath Bench

This is one of the best things ever invented - pair it with a hand-held shower that attaches right to your own shower head and have a seat and enjoy your shower - without worrying about falling or slipping; maybe even hurting yourself.

I'd recommend this to anyone, old, young, disabled, healthy, it's just that good. I needed something after taking a fall and having a heavy object fall on top of me, which was WHY I fell. As I'm too young for a hip replacement, I use this everytime I take a shower, combined with a hand-held shower head attachment.

It makes taking a shower, non-painful, which is always a good thing and if you know of anyone that's getting out of the hospital, know as well that they'll be very weak for awhile. Great coming-home gift and get one for yourself while you're at it. You won't regret this purchase. We never have, for sure.

...
