gatorbayou says "These are the REAL THING! The finest Kosher Pickles around!" about Pickleville Kosher style pickles

For several years I searched the area for a good pickle. I searched the web and phone directories. I asked anyone when the subject came up "Where can I get a real Kosher pickle in Charlotte?" One day I was driving past a farmers market in South End off of Park Rd and heard the sound of someone shouting "Pickles! Get your pickles here! Garlics and dills and pickled green tomatoes!" It was very strange to here so far south of NYC's lower east side but there it was.
I parked the car out of curiousity not really expecting to fine any pickles worthy of praise since the Carolinas are notorious for pickling everything in vinegar.
The market, though small seemed to be filled with people very interested in their health and living a "green" lifestyle. They had ostrich meat, goat cheese, the freshest produce grown locally, and a pickleman offering sample of his product to everyone and anyone who even look at him, and he was hard to avoid since he was very loud and entertaining. I don't know if it......

amosnanne says "Hamburger helper as great as it is does not make a great lasagna" about Hamburger Helper Lasagna

Most hamburger helper meals are great for me and my family. They are fast, taste great, and my 1yr old can eat without choking on it. It comes in a neatly packed box and all you have to do is add water and hamburger meat (or milk depending on the meal). However, the hamburger helper lasagna was not good. The only one who finished it was my 1yr old. It left a very bad after taste in your mouth kind of like it had too much of one kind of seasoning and not enough of the another. I was not at all pleased with the lasagna. Not to say anything bad about hamburger helper because we still purchase some of the other flavors and they taste great. As a note to hamburger helper "you fell short of my expectations on the lasagna". To anyone who was thinking about buying the lasagna hamburger helper here is a suggestion just buy one box to taste no point in wasting an additional box if you are like me and my family. We actually threw out our food and decided to make grilled chicken...
...

mmtermite says "Panko Bread crumbs were surprisingly light and flavorful!" about Progresso Panko bread crumbs

I recently purchased a box of the plain Panko Bread Crumbs by Progresso. There was enough in the box for me to try it with two different recipes. The first was for some fresh fish we just caught. I mixed some seasoned salt with the bread crumbs for frying. The result was absolutely delicious! The bread crumbs are very light textured yet crunchy and kept the moisture in the fish. The second recipe I tried was oven "fried" chicken. For that I mixed in some lemon pepper seasoning. The end result was obvious: NO LEFTOVERS!!! My husband and boys asked when we could try the "new" recipe again. The Panko Bread Crumbs have an incredibly light texture that made my old recipes seem like new. Panko Bread Crumbs will now always have a spot in my pantry. I am looking forward to trying it with more of my recipes that seemed "old" to us. I will be trying their seasoned varities next. We had company the night we had the chicken and everyone asked if I had made my own bread...
...

angmarbro says "Rich taste - could be a dessert!" about Yoplait Yoplait Delight

Yoplait Delights Parfait low fat yogurt in Caramel is amazing! The flavor is rich, and it has a creamy texture. Not only could it be eaten as breakfast, or a supplement to a meal, but it could be served as a dessert, as well! I was astrounded to learn it was only 100 calories!

Sometimes low fat yogurt items have a terrible sugar-substitute type aftertaste, but the Yoplait Delights Parfait in caramel does not have an aftertaste at all. I think this is partially the reason I was so shocked to find it was low in calories. I would definitely buy this again, and I'd love to taste-test the other flavors, as well. I'm thinking this would be a good snack for kids, as its a good source of calcium and is low in calories, but has a good "snack factor."

I have not tried the other flavors, but the caramel flavor is good by itself, or even with Post Grape Nuts, or granola, sprinkled over the top for some added fiber and texture.
...

Now as a parent I always wanted the best for my kids, as a grandparent I have to have the best for my grandkids. So what's better than ice cream...nothing. Now they are too small to really enjoy ice cream, yet I feel it's my job to research the many kinds and flavors to allow me to find the best of the best for them...ok...it's all for me. I love Blue Bunny Moose Track ice cream...it's not to do research...it's to put a smile on grandpa's face. Oh I will share it with them when they get older...but until then I will continue to eat my share. To do the necessary research to protect them from bad ice cream....did you buy it that time...no...ok...I will keep buying it because it takes great, is always available at the stores I shop at and I always have a coupon to add more value to the pleasure that comes in that little box of joy. I can only hope that the grandkids grow up to love another flavor so my Moose Tracks is never invaded...or I'll just buy two!!!
...

I am hooked on Rockstar Sugar Free Energy drinks. I probably drink one every two or three days. I used to drink the other popular one but it was becoming too expensive so I thought I would try Rockstar. Once I tasted Rockstar, I never went back. I love the taste of it and it's sugar free. Can't beat that! it has B vitamins, ginseng and taurine. And it's only 10 calories per serving and there are 2 servings in this drink!! I am a very busy person and can slow down during the day. Once I drink one of these I get an even energy boost that last pretty long. Unlike the other drinks that made me crash, ROckstar doesn't do that to me. It is lightly carbonated so you are not burping all day either. I suggest keeping it pretty cold though because as it sits out it doesn't taste as good but that is like other drinks as well. I know that energy drinks can be expensive but this one is the cheaper one that taste better. I get mine for $1.99 usually. I have seen them more expensive but I am always looking...
...

My twin daughters both have a peanut allergy. We, unfortunately, found out the hard way by giving them peanut butter sandwiches. I needed something that could function like peanut butter but without the allergen component. We searched for a while and tried many different products such as soy butter. It was okay- not something I would select out of our fridge to eat. My one daughter needed all the extra fat and protein she could get. I ran across this sunbutter and I am absolutely content with it! It is so smooth, creamy, great tasting, delicious, and best of all- completely serves and satisfies my need!!! We can pack sunbutter sandwiches, use it on crackers, add it to ice cream, use it in baking, and best of all- it tastes similar to peanut butter (and looks like it too). My husband actually opts to take sunbutter and jelly sandwiches to work periodically! My daughter loves it! And that is saying a lot!!! Way to go!
...

General Mills brand Fiber One Toaster Pastry, finally a pop tart type pastry that you can warm in the toaster that taste great and is good for you!, I love the Fiber One toaster style pastries, they are sold in a box of 6 and are packaged 2 pastires per foil wrapped sleeve. They contain a daily value or 20%of your fiber intake. I purchased the brown sugar cinnamon kind and often see coupons for Fiber one products including this one so that makes them a great value. What I like most about them is that they are good for botht he adults and children in our house. Now the only thing I can say about the package is that since 2 come in a foil packed sleeve it is a bit decieving as the serving size is one and the calories are 180 but again for one not two. They ingridients list the first item as whole grain and that toomakes me feel good eating them as they are not only a good source of fiber but a healthier options to traditional toaster style pastries. I often will eat them for breakfast and......

The more I cook, the more recipes I try, which means the more chicken broth that I need to buy and use in my cooking. I have tried to buy organic foods for the past two years or so, but with the current state of the economy, I've had to cut back in the food budget and switch back to many non-organic products just to save money.

I've been using plain old College Inn Chicken Broth for the past several months, so I was excited to find a 32 ounce cardboard box of their Organic Chicken Broth shoved into the back of a cabinet. It costs about $3.50 per box compared to a same-size box of non-organic chicken broth for $1.79, which is why I had to stop buying it for the time being.

College Inn Organic Chicken Broth is 99% fat free and USDA certified organic. According to the information on the box, it is made by simmering free-range (but no mention of organic) chicken, organic veggies, and spices. A 1-cup serving contains only 15 calories but a whopping 510 milligrams of sodium.

As someone who is interested in cooking and always attempting to improve, I've been cooking more often with extra virgin olive oil. The problem is that it is so expensive at the local grocery store--$20 for a 1 quart bottle. I had been reluctantly buying it and sparingly using it due to the cost. When I saw 1 quart bottles of Trader Joe's Extra Virgin Olive Oil for just $5.99 each during a recent visit to the store, I picked up two and now wish I had bought several more.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is made from the first pressing of the olives which means that it has the most color and flavor of all of the various types of olive oils. EVOO, as it is sometimes called, is full of heart-healthy unsaturated fats and lots of fruity flavor. Due to the strong flavor and expense, Extra Virgin Olive Oil is usually used for sauteeing, marinades, salad dressings, etc. You don't want to use it for baking due to the strong flavor or for frying due to the low smoke point. I use Trader Joe's...
...

Now may be the time to confess all and share a shameful secret with the rest of you -- when I roast a turkey, I cheat a little and use Kraft's Stove Top Stuffing for Turkey. (Three packages is perfect for a 12 to 14 pound bird, with a little left over to bake in a separate pan.) Martha Stewart would probably cringe at the thought of this but that's okay because Martha Stewart I am not. Until yesterday, it never occurred to me that there could be anything of value (aside from sheer convenience and ease of preparation) in Kraft's famous (or infamous, depending on your outlook) product. Then I checked out the ingredient and nutrition information and it is not as disastrous as you may think. If you aren't a threat to Martha Stewart either -- and you just want to get the gol-darned bird in the oven -- then Stove Top Stuffing may be for you.

I love using my crock pot - the food usually comes out so tender. But I hate the clean up. My ceramic pot is so heavy, and I still had to scrub the burnt-on food even after soaking it. I didn't want to use it very often.

That is, until I discovered Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners. What a help! A liner is placed into the crock pot and filled with food. Any leftover mess stays on the liner and is tossed into the garbage. The crock pot itself just needs a couple of quick swipes to clean it.

The box boasts that the Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners fit 3 to 6.5 quart round and oval slow cookers. They are a little large for my crock pot, but who cares? The one-size-fits-all package ensures that you're not stuck with too small liners that can't be used. There are 4 13 inch by 21 inch liners per box. Ever find out that a recipe has so many ingredients that your lid won't close tight? The instructions on the box tell you to pull the top of the liner over the rim of the bowl, but I've successfully pulled...
...

Betty Crocker Homestyle Creamy Butter Instant Mashed Potatoes

This mashed potato mix comes in a 3.3 oz pouch. All you have to add is water.

Ready in just 3 minutes in the microwave, and just a few minutes longer to make on the stove, the method I prefer. To make on the stove, you just boil the water, pour the potato flakes in and stir, then remove from heat and let stand for 2 minutes, then whip with a fork.

You aren't going to fool anyone that these are "made from scratch" mashed potatoes, but for a mixture that you only have to add water too, they have a very good flavor. I really like to keep these mixes on hand for the times I am not feeling good and can't eat a lot. These are quick are easy, and it's a nice hot comfort food.

Each pouch makes 4 servings, and each serving is only 80 calories. They are also low in fat, just 1 gram per serving. They are a bit high in sodium, but most packaged foods like this are. Each serving has 460mg of sodium. They also have 10% of the RDA for fiber,...
...

La Choy Rice Noodles are this crispy little thin noodle looking things that you put on top of your chinese food. I LOVE these things! My husband thought they were odd and wouldn't try them for years but now that he finalllyyyyy did he loves them and now I can't keep them in the house! They are a blend of wheat and rice flours quick-cooked to a golden brown. You can buy them from anywhere and they only cost a few dollars. If you love chinese food you'll enjoy a sprinkle of these on top. Pick up a container the next time you go to the grocery, if you have kids they will love these. The only way my kids will eat stir-fry in my house lol.
...

Betty Crockers Bisquick Cheese-Garlic Biscuit mix is excellant! You know when you go to Red Lobster and you get those tasty biscuits before your meal, they taste like that!! Not exactly but close! 7.75 ounce pkg 160 calories 70 from fat, 6 servings per/pkg. Ready in 15 minutes. You just follow the directions on the pkg by adding water and mixing and place in oven for a few minutes and POOOOF done and great tasting! You can make em big or make em tiny but either way they taste great and they are sooo cheap! I buy 3 pkg's for a dollar at Walmart every few weeks and my family loves eating them. They go with just about every dinner and they are so easy even the kids can mix em for me. If you've not tried these and you love Red Lobsters Cheddar biscuits your gonna like these. We fell in love with them years ago and have been a loyal buyer for years now.
...

KaciOhio says "This is the only brand I buy in Broth and Stock. " about Swanson Chicken Broth 100% Natural

My husband started buying this brand to make our homemade chicken and noodles and you could taste a BIG difference! The flavor is better and its very easy to open and use in its nifty container. 100% Natural and 99% Fat Free. No msg added which is great for me because I cannot have msg. The container I buy comes in a 32oz/2lb. Serv. Size is 1 cup, 4 cups per container. 10 Calories 5 from fat. 860mg Sodium!! Thats a lot. I do love that they have the labels for education on the side because I do collect these and try to only buy products with these kinds of labels for education so I can support my local school, they do benefit from the labels and buy many things they need. I recommend Swansons for Broth and Stock. They do a great job and it always has a great flavor. I also make Stuffing with this brand of Chicken Broth but usually use chicken stock, either works and gives it a GREAT taste!!! Just replace your water with broth/stock and your stuffing turns out the same but with better flavor!...
...

pitcherday says "Don't get this expecting a black licorice flavor" about Stash's Licorice Herbal Tea

I really like black licorice once in a while as a treat. It does have a strong flavor which is why I only have a little at a time. I like black licorice ropes, licorice Altoids, and I like things with Anise in them. When I drank liquor, Anisette was a favorite cordial.

So when a co-worker of mine asked if I liked Stash Licorice Tea, I said I had never heard of it and was excited for a new black licorice product! Stash Licorice Tea is made from components from all over the world:

"For our unique Licorice Spice tea we combine the finest licorice root from Europe, cinnamon from Sri Lanka, star anise from China, orange peel from the U.S.and sarsaparilla from South America. The result is a delicious dessert-like tea, good anytime, but especially enjoyable in the evening, as it's caffeine free." (from stashtea.com)

I don't know about you, but those ingredients don't sound like they go together. And from my opinion, they do not. I didn't actually read the box, as I was so excited for a new treat....
...

brigi3 says "Really works!" about Living Essentials 5-Hour Energy Drink

This is the energy product I've been looking for. First of all the price is reasonable if you buy it at BJ's wholesale food club. It comes in a case for less than $2.00 per bottle. If you buy a single bottle at other stores they can sell for as high as $3.99 per bottle. I can stretch my savings also buy only drinking one half of a bottle at a time. Just one half a bottle gets me through a slump in my day. I find that if I drink one half of a bottle before I work out it gives my that extra zip to put in a really good day at the gym too. The flavor isn't bad either. I prefer the berry flavored bottle. I also like that it doesn't give me the jitters like some other products do. I am a very health conscious person and usually don't like taking any kind of performance enhancing supplements but I feel safe with this particular product. I am not a doctor though so please check with yours before using this product because you never know if it may interfere with anything you...
...
