kt047 says "I love it on a sandwich, and in my hair...Seriously!" about Hellman's Mayonaise

Hellman's Mayonaise is simply the best mayo for my sandwich. Recently, a hair stylist told me how great mayo is for you hair. I didn't believe it at first, but one night while hanging out at home I decided to try it.

It definitely sounds odd at first, but if you've got a shower cap and a jar of mayo, try it! I just used about a handful of mayo (and yes, it sounds really gross), put it on my hair, and then put the shower cap on. I left it in for about 20 minutes since mayo is apparently a great conditioner for hair. After 20 minutes, I washed the mayo out with shampoo and conditioner.

I seriously could not believe the results. My hair was shiny, smooth, and I could actually comb it out after a shower. I don't think it really matters what brand you use, but I did use Hellman's Mayonaise and was happy with the results.

Therefore, I would recommend Hellman's Mayo for your sandwich and hair at least once a week lol. This is definitely an odd post, but one that I wanted to share with everyone...
...

njchicaa says "Emeril's Essense Seasoning is a wonderful addition to your meals" about Emeril Original Essence Seasoning

When I was growing up, my mother made hamburgers out of plain ground beef and occasionally topped them with a slice of cheese. They never had much flavor and I wasn't a huge fan of burgers... until I met my husband. When we would hang out on weekends, he'd make these delicious hamburgers that he made with various spices/seasonings, A1 steak sauce, and a dash of worcestershire sauce. I was introduced to the whole wide world of flavored ground beef!

I've been using Emeril's Original Essence Seasoning for several years now to add flavor to the meals that I prepare. I add it to ground beef to add flavor to burgers, meatloaf, and savory meatballs. I've also sprinkled it on roasting potatoes and even grilled corn on the cob to add a bit of spice. You can buy a regular-sized bottle in your local grocery store for like $5, but I picked up a large 21 ounce bottle for about $8 at the local BJ's Wholesale Club.

A little goes a long way with this seasoning blend that contains ingredients...
...

I learned about Penzeys spices on a WW message board about 3 years ago. Penzey's has several stores, but non where I live here in Georgia. seasonally they send repeat customers a lovely magazine with every spice available as well as several excellent tried and true recipes submitted by other readers. My first online order was for a 16oz bottle of Pure Vanilla Single Strength extract. I had no idea how large 16oz was!!! I thought that I would NEVER have to order vanilla again. I was WRONG!! I went through that bottle in a year. When you first crack it open the overwhelming vanilla smell is intoxicating!! I grabbed a bottle of my usual vanilla extract and yuck! I didnt realize how horrible the stuff I had been using since I was a child was so horrible! Just smelling it inspired me to start baking. From cookies to waffles, I use Penzeys Single Strength Pure Vanilla Extract in every single dessert that I make. I even find myself splashing in a little extra all the...
...

I am a major foodie and a passionate cook, so I love having a cupboard filled with different spices and seasonings for all my cooking needs. My husband and I both love spicy food, so Cajun's Choice Blackened Seasoning is used pretty frequently in my home.

Even though this seasoning is called a "blackened" seasoning, you don't have to use it for that purpose. Although it does make great blackened fish and chicken, it could also be used as a spicy, more flavorful alternative to cayenne pepper.

Cajun's Choice Blackened Seasoning contains: all natural spices (including paprika, red, black and white peppers, oregano), salt, onion and garlic.

The flavor of this seasoning is nice and spicy and kind of dry in the sense that it isn't very salty. When I use this product I generously season my chicken with it and then cook it on a high heat to create a good Cajun "crust" of seasonings, and then lower the temperature to cook through out. I then chop up the blackened chicken and throw it...
...

njchicaa says "Weber Gourmet Burger Seasoning adds lots of flavor!" about Weber Grind-n-Grill Gourmet Burger Seasoning

We love to try different seasonings and spices, so when my husband saw a giant 8 ounce grinder jar of Weber Grind N Grill Gourmet Burger Seasoning at the local wholesale club last year, he immediately decided to add it to the cart. We were hosting our annual 4th of July barbeque, so he figured that this would be the perfect seasoning to add to our homemade burgers.

The Weber Gourmet Burger Seasoning contains ingredients like sea salt, "spices", sugar, dehydrated onion, dehydrated grlic, brown sugar, dehydrated red/green bell pepper, dehydrated tomato, parsley, and natural smoke flavor. To use it you simply remove the top, invert the bottle, and then twist the bottom part to grind the seasonings and apply them to your burgers, steaks, meatloaf mix, etc. The grinder has a little lever that you can move to supposedly change the grind setting from coarse to fine, but ours has never worked and the grinder seems to be stuck on "coarse".

Despite the permanently-coarse grind setting, we still...
...

njchicaa says "Eh, McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning is just okay." about McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning

I'm a sucker for trying new spices and seasonings. In all honesty, I have three full shelves in one of my cabinets completely filled with spices, herbs, and various blends. When I saw the McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning in the local grocery store, I had to toss it into the cart and give it a whirl.

According to the label, McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning "gives your chicken a slow-roasted flavor and golden appearance without using a rotisserie." The ingredients listing is vague with salt, onion, "spices", paprika, garlic, citric acid, and silicon dioxide. My guess is that it also contains some kind of chicken broth powder to give food that "slow roasted chicken" flavor. McCormick suggests using this stuff on whole chickens, chicken parts, turkey burgers, and even in breading for fried chicken.

I've used McCormick Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning on both Purdue Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs and a skinless turkey "london broil". It did add flavor to the poultry,...
...

lilmisssunshine says "Very good. You can barely sense a difference" about Kikkoman Less Sodium Soy Sauce, 15 oz.

I would like to begin by letting readers know I am addicted to sodium. It's a bad thing, I know, but anything that is high in sodium content means I will probably like it! Making any attempt at limiting my sodium intake is why I bought a bottle of Kikkoman's Naturally Brewed Less Sodium Soy Sauce.

I have used this in several different recipes now and I have yet to be disappointed. This soy sauce has 37% less sodium in it than their regular variety, but I can't tell the difference. It offers the same amount of flavoring and doesn't have any unnatural taste to it that I sometimes find when purchasing Low in anything foods (low fat, low sodium, low calorie, etc.)

I have used this product in stir-fry, on burgers and on steaks and no one I've cooked for has been able to tell the difference. In fact, I've surprised most when I tell them of the switch I've made. If I can trick myself into limiting even just a little sodium, I'll continue to do so!
...

LauraBelle says "Fruit Juice Breaks Down the Meat" about Lawry's 30-Minute Marinade, Teriyaki with Pineapple Juice

It wasn't a conventional Thanksgiving dinner, but it was a good Thanksgiving dinner. Of course, we all know that what makes the best Thanksgiving dinner isn't the turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie. It's the family and friends we spend it with. We had that part of the equation already set, and decided to forgo having turkey again this year. My sister-in-law cooked a pork loin, and my husband cooked a sirloin tip roast. What really made the beef was the marinade injection of Lawry's 30-Minute Marinade, Teriyaki with Pineapple Juice.

My husband got a meat injector for Christmas a few years ago and started branching out with it. He stopped using the injecting juice and just started using regular marinades. He does that more with roasts than he does regular marinading. When you inject the marinade far into the meat, the flavor seems to sink in much better and make it more tender than regular marinading. He prefers the Lawry's brand as they tend to have more fruit juices than others and that...
...

My husband loves to try different seasonings and rubs that he finds in the spice section of the local grocery store which is how we wound up with the McCormick Steakhouse Seasoning Grinder. It is sold in a 1.3 ounce glass bottle with a grinding apparatus at the top.

This McCormick Steakhouse Seasoning Grinder contains a blend of spices and herbs including black/pink/green peppercorns, red pepper, sea salt, garlic, onion, parsley, and paprika. I've always liked the various McCormick steak and burger seasonings that I've tried in the past, so I figured that I'd like this Steakhouse Seasoning as well... and I was correct.

The big selling point of this Steakhouse Seasoning is the fact that the jar has a built-in grinder so you can add freshly-ground spices to your beef, chicken, etc. To dispense them, you simply remove the top, turn the jar upside-down, and then twist the "base" to grind and sprinkle the seasonings onto the food.

We take so many things for granted and this is no exception. I have herbs and spices in my pantry and never give them a thought. It's just keep the pantry stocked.

Lawry's Seasoned Salt gives food that extra flavor. I want my food to have flavor and a little heat. Lawry's Seasoned Salt accomplishes just that.

I love to add Lawry's Seasoned Salt to scrambled eggs, chicken dishes, and use on baked potatoes. It's always nice to have a different flavor for those baked potatoes.

When preparing French fried potatoes, prepare them then fry until done then place on a mesh rack to drain. Then fry for a second time. This gives the French fries that extra crispy texture that I love. When the fries are a nice golden color remove and place on the mesh rack to drain. Apply Lawry's Seasoned Salt and enjoy.

Scrambled eggs: crack the eggs into a dish then add a small amount of water. The water helps create a nice fluffy scramble. Then add Lawry's Seasoned Salt along with fresh ground pepper. Spray a non-stick...
...

We love flavorful foods, and having married into a Polish family, dill plays a big role in many Polish and Eastern European dishes. Pampered Chef has created a delicious blend of several herbs that works for many types of food preparation.

Pampered Chef All-Purpose Dill Mix is a 1.25 oz. spice jar filled with a wonderful-smelling dill weed, onion, garlic, and other herb and spice mixture. Each jar sells for $5.75. The label is in English and Spanish. Each Pampered Chef item comes with a recipe for a jumping off point...my Polish cookbook gave me plenty of other ideas as well. This particular blend is exclusive to Pampered Chef, so you won't find it anywhere but online or through a PC representative.

What I like about it: The blend of spices and herbs is fantastic. While there are two other heavy hitters (onion and garlic) in the mix, they don't overpower the dill aroma and flavor. I love that this blend can be used in cooking or just as a seasoning sprinkled over your...
...

Yeah, that's right, Old Bay. They make a seafood seasoning and a dry coating mix so why not a batter mix? They do and it is great. A 9 ounce can is only $1.99 at my local store. Old Bay Better Batter is a Seasoned Batter mix that comes in dry form and is supposed to be mixed with water. You are then to dip the food in the batter and pan or deep fry it. It is really easy and turns out well, regardless which food you use.

The yellow packet is called Splenda. It's a zero calorie sweetner that tastes just like sugar. My husband has switched to Splenda also. It can be used in baking, drinks and anything else that needs a sweetner. Splenda is also great in hot tea and iced tea. I haven't found anything that Splenda doesn't sweeten just like sugar. I really recomend this zero calorie sweetner instead of sugar or other zero calorie sweetners. There is no aftertaste. Splenda comes in other convienant forms also.

Knorr MiniCube Seasonings are small cubes of concentrated flavor. There are garlic, onion, chipotle and cilantro flavored cubes. There may be others that haven't gotten to my area yet. Though these are all vegetable flavors, the cubes themselves are likened to bouillon cubes as in their richly intense flavors and the fact that they contain salt. Adding these cubes to your dishes such as soups, sauces, rice dishes and stews drastically cuts down on the amount of time spent chopping onions, garlic, cilantro and chipotle peppers while adding the same flavor. For example, one onion cube equals one teaspoon of chopped onion and one chipotle cube equals one small chipotle pepper.

anb says "Dean Jacobs Bread Dipping Seasoning-an instant gourmet appetizer" about Dean Jacobs Bread Dipping Seasoning

Dean Jacob's Bread Dipping Seasonings offers four different seasoning blends in one container. Just add to olive oil and you've got a delicious dip for fresh bread in seconds. I served it at a party and people couldn't decide which flavor they liked best! It's best with a soft bread so as to better absorb the delicious flavors in the seasonings. A cheese bread is delicious, and I've used different flavors as well (pepperoni, etc). Also, add a dab of balsamic vinegar to the Tuscany blend for an entirely different taste treat. If you don't use all the oil, store in an air-tight container and it lasts for quite a while, especially if you've used high-quality olive oil. You don't need a lot of seasoning to create a delicious flavor, and mixing different types together also creates interesting options. Dean Jacob's Bread Dipping Seasonings are fresh, delicious, and guaranteed to be a huge hit!
...

I must admit that -- if left to my own devices -- I probably would not have come up with an idea like this but Tastefully Simple Cool 'n Creamy Cucumber Dip Mix is so delicious that now I wonder why someone hasn't thought of this before. At any rate, it probably would have required a lot of work to make this if it were not for this handy mix. Two 0.5 oz. packets come in a package. Combine the contents of a packet with half a cup each sour cream and mayonnaise, chill for a couple hours, and you end up with a beautiful, fluffy whipped light green dip whose taste is the very essence of summer.

STATS:

The nutritional information seems to be for the mix before preparation. One teaspoon is considered to be a serving which contains 10 calories, zero fat, 260 mg. sodium, 2 grams each total carbs and sugars, and zero protein. The addition of the other ingredients will add fat and calories but also thin out the sodium count. Although the instructions call for use of only regular mayonnaise,...
...

ApriBambino says "a perfect no-salt seasoning" about Mrs. Dash Mrs. Dash Original Blend

Mrs. Dash Original Blend

This is one of my and my family's favorites; Mrs. Dash Original Blend is the basic season-er of the now extended line. I've used it in many, many recipes and it never disappoints. The fact that this contains no salt is fabulous, too much sodium is a no no for a lot of us but this makes is easy to flavor otherwise boring food such as potatoes, spinach and so on.

The ingredients are onion and spices of black pepper, parsley, celery seed, basil, bay, marjoram, oregano, savory, thyme, cayenne pepper, coriander, cumin, mustard, rosemary, garlic, carrot, orange peel, tomato, lemon juice powder, citric acid and oil of lemon. This is an awesome blend that compliments so many foods in a tasty and healthy way, it even takes well to soups, sprinkled on salads and added onto meats before grilling or broiling.

I especially like that the mixture is fairly course so you can see what's in it, it can tend to clump up at times but that's really a non issue in the long run....
...

njchicaa says "We enjoy McCormick Crusting Blends." about McCormick Crusting Blends

While replenishing some of my spices last month, I noticed McCormick Crusting Blends sitting there on the shelf. Basically, they are a mixture of panko bread crumbs, herbs, and spices that gives your chicken, fish, or pork a crunchy outside without having to fry it. I usually spend an hour or more preparing complicated dinners with elaborate sauces, so I thought that the Crusting Blends would be nice for those nights when I needed a break.

McCormick Crusting Blends come in three flavors: Garlic, Lemon, & Rosemary, Italian Herb & Cheese, and French Onion, Pepper, & Herb. I use garlic, lemon, and rosemary all the time in my cooking so I decided to try that version. It is really easy to use Crusting Blends. All you have to do is brush your meat lightly with oil, coat it with this bread crumb and seasoning mixture, and then bake in the oven until cooked through.

I've been using this stuff on both chicken breasts and deboned chicken thighs. It is super-easy to use and adds lots of...
...

GrandmawsOpinion says "Good Gravy this is Great Gravy" about Pioneer Brand White Country Gravy Mix

There ain't nothing better than southern cooking! Just ask Paula Deen . . . great southern cooking usually begins with a three of four course meal and of course, gravy. I make my own brown gravy however I haven't mastered the art of white gravy. It's a delicate mix of flour and spices. I never get the same result twice. My family had a hankering for biscuit and gravy and rather than disappoint them with my pasty disaster, I made my own buscuits and bought a couple of packets of Pioneer Brand White Country Gravy Mix, sausage flavor.

It's quick and easy! The blend of spices is so unique I've added Pioneer Brand White Country Gravy Mix to my flour mixture when I fry chicken, bake pork chops and recently to coat my fried green tomatoes. Pioneer Brand White Country Gravy Mix gives crock pot recipes an extra flavor kick. What ever you cook Pioneer Brand White Country Gravy Mix makes you feel like you are eating a down home southern style country breakfast, dinner...
...
