My grandmother used to make the best BBQ sauce you've ever tasted. She had her own secret recipe and there are only a few of us that have it now that she has gone to be wtih her Lord. The basic ingredients are standard stuff: tomato sauce, ketchup, tomato paste, oregano, mustard, etc. But she had a couple of secret ingredients that made it better than any other. She had a specific type of liquid smoke that she put in it that I thought was it's crowning glory. I make it about once a year and usually give it for Christmas. It's...

I downloaded a recipe from About.com because we were out, and my grocery budget was tight that week. With the exception of the ketchup having high fructose corn syrup in it, and the anchovies in the worchestershire sauce, it would be suitible for vegans and omnivores alike. It tastes almost like A1 sauce, without the price tag. I can't wait to try the next batch with organic ketchup and vegan worchestershire sauce! I also bet it would make for a great...

Telpher says "Not just spice - flavor!" about Kaitaia Fire Chili Pepper Sauce

I lived in New Zealand for 6 years. It's a small country with not alot of variety, in terms of food products. There were a lot of things form home that I really missed. On the other hand, there were a lot of New Zealand products that I grew to love. One of them is Kaitaia Fire Chili Sauce. — Wassat? — Kaitaia Fire. It rhymes, sort of. It's pronounced kigh-TIE-uh Fire. Or, if you're using a Kiwi accent, kuh-DYE-uh Figh-uh. — Yeah, but...wassat???? — Made from chili peppers grown in the northern-most region of New Zealand's North Island, not all that far from the Equator....an area whose fertile soil is rich, in part, due to volcanic activity, Kaitaia Fire is the tastiest chili sauce I've ever had. Where some chili sauces are all about heat, heat and more heat, Kaitaia Fire is about heat and flavor and more flavor. It's hot, but not so hot that it hurts to eat it. And definitely not so hot that it kills a diner's ability to actually taste his or her food....

One of the most interesting discoveries we have made in the last few years has been the PAIN IS GOOD line of mixes and sauces. — — One of the more unique items we have tried from the PAIN IS GOOD line is the Jamaican Bloody Mary Mix. — — This mix combines the traditional Bloody Mary flavorings with the zing and BAM of Jamaican spice and heat. — — Although we tend to make our mixes for drinks fresh, there are times when we have to fall back on cooked and preserved things so PAIN IS GOOD JAMAICAN BLOODY MARY MIX is a nice thing to have on hand. The Jamaican Jerk twist on the Bloody Mary is a really nice change. — — The one thing I am not as fond of as I would like is that it tends to be a bit heavy on the celery seed flavoring which I think competes for the Jamaican twist, but I still like it very much. — — — INGREDIENTS — — Ingredients: Tomato juice, vinegar, worcestershire sauce,...
