I try many kinds of frozen meals in-between the frozen meals that I KNOW I like. My office is far from any fast food joints by a 10 minute car ride, so I eat at work a lot...and sometimes frozen is just simpler than making a sandwich.

Healthy Choice Fire Roasted Tomato Chicken will not be making an appearance in my cart again. The name - even the "Apple Cranberry Crisp" dessert sounded FLAVORFUL.

Not so much. The apple dessert is more tart in another brands turkey and stuffing meal than in this one that has CRANBERRIES in it. A total disappoinment.

If you are expecting flavor - pass by this option.

The chicken chunks were very meaty though!
...

this2shallpass19 says "These tasty, ready-made sandwiches are a major convenience!" about Smucker's Uncrustables

I wanted to bring some convenient, easy-to-make snacks and meals for my recent vacation, and I thought Smucker's Uncrustables would be perfect for my toddler, and they were! My son absolutely loves them, and I love how convenient they are!

A Smucker's Uncrustable is a frozen, round, peanut butter and jelly sandwich that has no crust. What makes these sandwiches so neat is that they are pre-made and frozen, so you can defrost them as needed, and have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich ready anytime you want. They only take 30-60 minutes to defrost, so I take one out before my son's nap so it is ready to eat when he wakes up.

I bought my son the strawberry flavor and he loved it. I took a bite to see how they tasted and I liked it too. The bread was nice and soft, not soggy like I was expecting. There was a good amount of peanut butter and jelly inside too. Although they might seem expensive because you don't get very many in a box, the time they save is worth it to me. I...
...

this2shallpass19 says "I'm sure I'll be breathing garlic for five days!!" about Trader Joe's Garlic Fries

Making my way through all the delicious products at Trader Joe's, I decided to try something new - Trader Joe's Garlic Fries. I have liked just about everything I have purchased at Trader Joe's, so I didn't even hesitate when I threw these fries in my cart. Unfortunately, these are one of the few products at Trader Joe's that I'm just not crazy about.

I did like how easy these fries were to make. Just bake them in the oven until they are crunchy and then mix them with a packet of garlic sauce. Unfortunately, the end result is a soggy french fry with an extremely strong flavor of raw garlic. Don't get me wrong, I love garlic - even a strong garlic flavor, but these are way too strong to enjoy. They have that spicy bite that raw garlic gives, but worse because you are getting so much of it. After eating a couple of fries, I just couldn't eat anymore. Thank goodness my husband ate them too, or I'm sure he wouldn't come near me for a while!

The packet of garlic sauce includes:...
...

There are a lot of excellent frozen veggies and side dishes out there but one of the best is Green Giant and Green Giant Immunity Blend is perhaps the best they have come up with so far. This medley of broccoli florets, julienne carrots and red and yellow sweet peppers is delightful. The garlic-herb extra virgin oil coating it all is flavorful without being too overpowering. It is called "Immunity Blend" because it is (according to the package information) "naturally rich in antioxidants Vitamins A & C to help support a healthy immune system."

STATS:

The contents of this 7 oz. box is considered to add up to two 2/3 cup servings, each containing 50 calories with 25 calories from fat. There are 3 grams Total Fat, zero each Saturated Fat, Trans Fat, and Cholesterol, 115 mg.

Not normally being a big ice cream eater, I only understood how people can LOOOOVE ice cream after trying Haagen Dasz Five Ginger Ice Cream. At that point, I became a convert, but only to the Haagen Dasz Five line. Since they're not cheap, I picked up two more flavors during a sale 2/$5 at Kroger and grabbed their coffee and brown sugar flavors.

Haagen Dasz Five Brown Sugar Ice Cream is the simplest concoction: sugar, cream, milk, brown sugar, and eggs. No preservatives, no coloring, no unpronounceable ingredients...just a natural, delicious, simple combination of flavors. Because it's not cluttered with extra and unnecessary other ingredients, this ice cream is just amazing. You can taste each individual component, and the brown sugar flavor stands out beautifully. Haagen Dasz describes it as "a rich brown sugar flavor, with light caramelized notes." It's sweet but not overpowering. Like their other flavors, I can only eat a little at a time. Each container is about...
...

I'm usually the person who invites people over and makes all of the food (appetizers, main course, side dishes, bread, etc) from scratch. I was recently served several varieties of Pillsbury Savorings Frozen Appetizers including these Mozzerella and Pepperoni Pastry Bites.

As the name implies, these frozen appetizers are bite-sized pieces of pastry filled with mozzerella cheese and bits of pepperoni. They go straight from the freezer to a 400 degree preheated oven for 17-19 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. You can find Pillsbury Mozzerella and Pepperoni Pastry Bites in grocery stores and even in the "frozen food" sections of Walmart and Target. They are very easy to find and reasonably priced at about $5 per box.

These Pillsbury Savorings Pastry Bites have been big hits the few times thus far that I've served them to guests. They are very tasty and, well, I guess a more elegant version of pepperoni pizza rolls. I am the kind of person who tends to make all of my...
...

grenmse says "Tasty filling inside a bland paper crust!" about Amy's Country Vegetable Pie

I love pot pies so I picked this up when it was on closeout at my local grocery store. Amy's has two vegetable pot pies; this one and a plain veggie pot pie with more peas and carrots. This one has mushrooms and parmesan and brocolli and better flavor if it were not for the dry crust. I put it in the microwave for just under the maximum time and the crust was so hard and tough I could hardly cut it with a knife. I ended up picking it up and tearing it into pieces and barely had to use a fork. The bottom did not seem well cooked either, dispite the condition of the top and sides. Maybe that was why it was on closeout! I don't remember their other style of veggie pot pie being that hard to eat. I would try it again, though if they improved the crust. I like their brand because it is organic and they care about their customers. There are no GMO's or genetically modified ingredients and all organic, vegan ingredients in their meals.

One pot pie is 370 calories. I know, yipes, anything tasty...
...

One of the good things about being retired is that you don't have to go racing off to catch the bus or train every day. Except for occasional errands, appointments or shopping, there is no more commuting for you. That's the GOOD news. The BAD news is that you may be getting less exercise than you used to when your daily routine included rushing up the El steps to catch a train.

Don't get me wrong, I love being retired but I have also been trying to find light, lean options for lunch to accommodate my less active lifestyle. Here is one of the good things out there -- the collection of Green Giant healthier entrees and side dishes, especially Green Giant Healthy Heart. This blend of "pearled barley, sugar snap peas and Julienne carrots in an herb-infused extra virgin olive oil sauce" is something I would not have thought of on my own and it was delicious. I especially enjoyed the wonderful snap peas which are one of my favorite vegetables. This dish has earned its moniker...
...

If you are someone who takes their lunch to work every day, you should consider adding these to your menu. These individual servings of frozen peas and carrots are very tasty. The butter and basil sauce had quite a bit of flavor so much so that it was almost too much as I took my last bites. The portion size was perfect for a side dish. Add to it that it earned a Weight Watchers endorsement and it's a big winner for being a healthy option as well.

As with most frozen meals, the heating was uneven in spots and the sauce outlasted the vegis, but overall this is a great addition to my lunch box.
...

Reprobate that I am, I probably never will give up meat and become a serious vegetarian. However, I am also a realist and so am trying to reduce my meat consumption even at dinner as painlessly as possible. If you feel as i do (or if you really are a vegetarian) then you might enjoy this delightful Green Giant Rice Medley which is a mixture of "gold standard" rice, peas and mushrooms combined in a delightful, albeit meatless brown sauce which tastes like beef stew without the beef. Savory flavor, luscious textures and satisfaction we have here in abundance -- enough to rival any steak.

I tried the healthy choice frozen dinner and I really liked it. It only had 330 calories. I got the beef Lo Mein and I was greatly surprised because I did not think that it would have much flavor. I don't particularly buy frozen dinners but I had an incentive coupon of great value and I gave it a try. And I was really pleased. The beef was chunky the sauce was rich with ginger and other spices and the dessert was sweet and tasty. There was only a small concern and that was that the noodles got a little softer than I would like them to be. So, over all the product is great on taste and great on health.
...

AnnaBanana says "A great treat but -- Chocoholics, don't hold your breath!" about Skinny Cow Low Fat Fudge Bars

Just in time for Thanksgiving, I found another "alternate" dessert since one cannot live by Pumpkin Pie alone. If you've eaten a big dinner or it is getting late in the evening and you just want a light sweet snack, you might want to try Skinny Cow Low Fat Fudge Bars which are delicious big hunks of ice cream firmly grounded on a sturdy stick for convenient indulging. These frozen bars don't really taste like a low-fat product -- alas, they do not really taste much like chocolate either! To all the Chocoholics out there, I can save you a lot of time and disappointment by advising you to look somewhere else for your true fudge fix.

STATS:

A 74 gram frozen bar is considered to be a single serving containing 100 calories with 10 calories from fat. There are 1 gram Total Fat, a half a gram Saturated Fat, zero Trans Fat, 3 mg. Cholesterol, 45 mg. Sodium, 22 grams Total Carbs, 4 grams Dietary Fiber, 13 grams Sugars and 4 grams Protein. Also included in each bar are 2% (D.V.) Vitamin A, 4% Iron,...
...

ElizabethAnnR says "Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie is a good as Grandma made." about Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie

How many of us remember the wonderful aromas coming from Grandmas kitchen? I certainly do. Grandma made the most wonderful bread and pies. There are many other things Grandma could make and she never used a recipe. I was always totally amazed at the results. I always needed a recipe. There are many foods I can prepare without a recipt now, but now baking pies.

Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie reminds me of the wonderful applie pies Grandma turned out. The aroma of the apples and cinnamon baking made us want to eat that pie as soon as it came out of the oven. You know we had to wait.

Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie with a slice of Cheddar cheese is one way. Frankly, I prefer Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or aka mode.

Mrs. Smith's Deep Dish Apple Pie is a product using quality ingredients. It bakes up with a beautiful flakey crust and a wonderful filling. If you want to remember the pies your Grandma baked, I highly recommend Mrs. Smith's Deep...
...

HemisphereDance says "Bag Explodes in Microwave Regularly!" about Birdseye Steamfresh Whole Grain Brown Rice

Ease of preparation and taste quality are excellent, but package construction is poor. Yesterday, my failure rate in package explosions in my microwave hit 4 out of 5 of the last packages I prepared. It's getting ridiculous when I add the clean-up time to the prep time to make this product. I have to clean the entire inside of the microwave, and then re-clean again to be sure to get all of the starchy-stuff off the insides. I like this product and the taste of the vegetable varieties but the Brown Rice, and the two times I have tried the White rice and the mixed rice have been clean-up nightmares.
...

njchicaa says "Trader Joe's Spanakopita has yummy filling but mushy filo dough." about Trader Joe's Spanakopita

I'm not usually one for pre-made appetizers or meals, but when I saw Trader Joe's Spanakopita sitting prettily there in the freezer last month, I remembered how good the Barefoot Contessa's version looked when I saw it on Food Network and tossed 2 boxes into my cart. I didn't get around to actually trying them until today...

To prepare Trader Joe's Spanakopita, you simply open up the box, remove the plastic wrapping, and bake the pieces (straight out of the freezer) in their foil pan at 375 degrees F for 20-22 minutes. After they are cooked, you are supposed to let them cool for 10 minutes before serving. I followed the directions while preparing the Spanakopita and was somewhat disappointed. Yes, after 22 minutes the filling of the little pockets was warm, but the phyllo/filo dough was still very soft and doughy. I tried to cook one of the trays for an extra 10 minutes or so, but that just resulted in the phyllo dough cracking, splitting, and otherwise self-destructing rather...
...
