awareness says "an addictive substance you'll crave fortnightly" about Post Alpha-Bits

If you occasionally enjoy sweetened breakfast cereal in milk, Alpha-Bits are for you.

I swear, Alpha-Bits are ten times more delicious than the last time I tried them several decades ago. Once the silly little sugar-coated letters of oat and corn hit the milk and then your tongue, it's like a seratonin drip straight into the pleasure centers of your brain.

Buy two boxes instead of one; you'll need them. Why? Because Alpha-Bits are ridiculously delicious in milk yet not filling. What that means is, once the flavor hits your tongue, you'll scarf down a bowl and find yourself filling the next bowl before you know what's happening. If you're fast enough, you may down a third bowl yet before you discover that your stomach is entirely full, mostly of milk.

Just about everything which might be counted against Alpha-Bits as a disadvantage can also be counted as an advantage. They're the prototypical two-edged sword of the breakfast cereal world.

The only reason I docked Alpha-Bits a star is because...
...

These are great for on the go or just a quick at home snack, or for breakfast. These can be eaten in the car at school snacks also. My son has to carry healthy snacks to school now so this is great, I can put a few in a baggy and a carton of shelf life milk and he is good to go. Sometimes he has eaten them in the car on the way to a function or errands i have to run before going home after i pick him up from school. If i know i will not be gong home right away i will pack a few and some milk and these will hold him til we do get home WITHOUT having to stop at a fast food place spending time and money. These can be a perect snack or 4 breakfast!
...

When Kashi Go Lean first came out it was all the rage. I saw the commercials and heard great reviews from friends. After all the hype I was interested in getting a taste of Kashi Go lean. I love the fact that kashi is made with whole grains. However, Kashi is full of sugar! I couldn't believe how much sugar was in once serving of the go lean I bought the cereal anyway and it tasted awful. Kashi Go-Lean has no flavor and gets soggy very easily in milk. I was very disappointed in my purchase, especially when Kashi is one to two dollars more expensive than other brands with whole grains. In addition to the sugar content, the protein source of this cereal is from soy! I would not recommend eating Kashi Go Lean just because of the sugar content and soy. Soy is known to mimic hormones in women and cause weight gain! Not only that but the soy is most likely genetically modified. Shame on Kashi for marketing such an un healthy cereal.
...

A couple months ago when Total cereal started to publically chastize Kashi Go lean specifically, Kashi gave free samples to anyone who wanted them. I think the offer is over by now. The Kashi company is based on making food fast and healthy which goes against America today. I expected this crereal to taste like cardboard because it looks health ,like grapenuts. Anyway, I was very surprised because rthis healthy cereal full of vitamins and minerals taste reallt really tasty. I am giving it a rave review from a cereal connisieur. After tasting the cereal I wonder what Total was taking about, even though Total made yoy take a test to compare your cereal to thiers. The Kashi Go Lean cereal has many aspects of crunchy and it looks very appitizing at the same time. After eating it just for cereal I discovered you could use the Kashi Go Lean on top os salads, ice cream sundaes maybe in a soup. So there you go Kashi Go Lean won!
...

This cereal has the best flavor that I have tasted in a long time. I and everyone in my family eat cereal everyday. We have tried brands that we didn't even know existed. This cereal stays crunchie. I did not leave it in the milk for an extended period of time so I can't say if it stays crunchie if it sits long. The flavor of the fruit flavored clusters was very satisfying. I would recommend this cereal to all walks of life. It also has 100% nutrition so if someone was dieting it would be a nice starter to a day. Full of flavor and good for you. The flakes were just the right size for a regular spoon. I don't like mush or really large flakes in cereal and this is just right. I believe that children will also like this cereal because of its fruit flavor clusters.
...

During the week I leave the house fairly early, so most mornings I don’t eat breakfast until I get to work. And then I want something filling, but quick, and oh it has to taste good and be good for me. A tall order indeed and Quaker Simple Harvest Instant Oatmeal – Maple Brown Sugar with Pecan certainly fit the bill.

Sold in 11.8oz boxes with eight 42g packages per box, Quaker Simple Harvest Instant Oatmeal – Maple Brown Sugar with Pecan is cost-effective winner. Checking in at $2.99 box, (at my local Super Target) one box can last a week (two packages per day)more than pays for itself.

Quaker, worry not it looks as though you have a hit on your collective corporate hands; the Simple Harvest/maple brown sugar with pecans instant multigrain hot oatmeal is a hit with me. According to Quaker Simple Harvest Instant Oatmeal – Maple Brown Sugar with Pecan "is a great tasting breakfast option you can feel good about.

Kashia Go Lean Crunch Cereal is outstanding. It's great for and taste great. I tried the honey almond flax flavor. For me it is like a grown up version of the Honey Smacks cereal. A serving of it keeps you full until your next meal, since it has a good bit of your daily fiber intake in it. Some people may worry about the cost of this cereal, but they are always giving out great coupons for it, we're talking $2-$3 bucks off, so you can get it for as low as .49 a box sometimes! Eating healthy has never tasted so good or cheap!
...

Kashi Go Lean crunch cereal is by far my favorite cereal. I eat this cereal minimally five days a week. It has just the right amount of sweetness and just the right amount of crunch. Even when I am rushing out of the house in the morning I will fill a small bag with my Kashi Go Lean crunch and munch on it while driving to work. This cereal has the added benefit of being high in fiber which means it really stays with you throughout the morning. I never even think about food for at least four hours after eating my Kashi Go Lean crunch cereal. There are two varieties of this cereal. The second variety is made with almonds and is just as delicious as the first. In addition, I have sprinkled this cereal over ice cream as it adds a special crunchiness. I will sometimes mix two different Kashi cereals together for a little variety as there are many types of Kashi cereals, They are all among my favorites.
...

I was at a website for free samples recently and noticed that Bear Naked was offering free samples of a few products. I really like banana nut bread so decided to go with the Bear Naked 100% Pure and Natural Cereal - Banana Nut. There is also a Cranberry Raisin cereal too.

In 2002 Kelly Flatley began making the first Bear Naked products. Not long after, her high school friend, Brendan Synnott, joined in the business too. Bear Naked produces high quality natural food. What started as a business in Kelly's parents' home in Connecticut is now a booming company providing Bear Naked products to people across the country.

The day after I received my free sample, I ate it for breakfast. The banana nut cereal is made with whole grain flakes, banana chips, rolled oats, oat clusters, dried apples and walnuts. The website says the ingredients are, " all-natural, bearly processed and utterly naked ingredients...that you can pronounce!" And it's true, I can pronounce everything and I know exactly...
...

This cereal is awesome! I am a huge cereal fan; I just love it! I used to eat too much of it, though, and the wrong kinds, like sugar cereals. But lately I've been on a health kick (which I plan to continue forever), and am so glad I found this! I've lost five pounds in the last three weeks and attribute part of that to Kashi cereal. What I love about it is that it has 9 grams of protein, 8 grams of fiber, and 7 whole grains per serving. If you know about losing weight and being healthy, you'll realize that is very good! Protien is necessary to keep your muscles strong, and fiber and whole grains take longer than other foods to digest, which helps you feel fuller longer and therefore, eat less. They are also very good for you and you need them every day.

That is the main reason I love the cereal. Maximize those calories! The first time I tried it, I was a little taken aback by the natural taste to it. After all, there's not a lot of sugar in it like most cereals. But I actually really like...
...

The commercial advertises that "with ice cold milk," it satisfies a chocolate craving. The brown 'chocolate' nuggets don't satisfy anything, taste very little of cocoa, and especially with ice cold milk, flavorless, unmelty, WAXY and greasy around the mouth. I've picked them all out to salvage a box of otherwise palatable cereal. What a waste.

I'm tired of things of poor quality (carnauba wax... palm kernel oil...) being advertised as "chocolate" when clearly, if i was quality and tasted good, it would have more real milk and cocoa butter, although more calories. Can't have it both ways!

Also, Why didn't they just put cocoa powder into the frosting? That might have actually worked.
...

The Kashi Sunshine cereal that I got in the mail from Viewpoints was okay, but I'm not a huge fan. The cereal was good and fresh in the box, and tasted good, but it just doesn't have a lot of sugary taste to it. I strongly recommend this cereal for children, if you want to control the amount of sugar they get. Kudos' to Kashi for coming out with these all natural products, especially in a day and age where we have so many over weight people. I applaud a company that takes responsibility in helping to control the populations weight problems, by offering good quality, all natural products. More companies need to follow their lead. I will find a product or products by Kashi that I really like, and will stick to eating this healthy alternative. As for the Kashi Sunshine cereal, it tastes similar to Captain Crunch. If you like Captain Crunch cereal, you will love this Kashi Sunshine cereal.
...

I'm not a big cereal eater, but my local supermarket recently had a sale on Kashi Go Lean Crunch and I decided I'd try it. I've had other Kashi products before and enjoyed many of them, so I had high hopes for this cereal.

I wasn't disappointed!

While a bit on the pricey side if you don't happen to catch it on sale, Kashi Go Lean tastes great. I added a handful of raspberries to my bowl for an even sweeter kick, and I imagine other berries would work just as well. Even without the added sweetness of the fruit, however, this cereal packs a pretty tasty punch. In fact, the only reason I'm giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's a wee bit high in sugar.

However, I think the higher sugar content balances out well because it's also jam packed with 8 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein per serving. That's a lot more than most other commercial cereals and it kept me full until lunchtime.

Bottom-Line: Not my first choice, but I am willing to give the oatmeal another try, with coupon in hand of course.

Breakfast. When you keep strange hours like I do-up and out early-eating a nutrition-laden, none-fast-food-restaurant meal can be a challenge, especially when the stomach is grumbling that it wants food! So I usually eat breakfast once I get to work in the form of a couple of boiled eggs and oatmeal, most likely Quaker.

Recently, whilst shopping at my local Super Target, I gathered up coupons for Kashi Heart to Heart Instant Oatmeal (Golden Brown Maple) at a taste test stand, and decided to give it a try.

My Viewpoint

I like Kashi Heart to Heart Instant Oatmeal (Golden Brown Maple). It is not the best instant oatmeal I have eaten, nor is it the worst. Checking in at 160 calories, 5g of fiber, 2g of fat, 4g of protein, and 33g of carbohydrates per packet, Kashi Heart to Heart Instant Oatmeal (Golden Brown Maple) does make for a filling good-for-you breakfast.

I like Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars, but just barely. Checking in at around 120 calories, around 4 grams of fiber, 5 grams of fat, and 5 grams of protein per bar, Kashi TLC Granola Bars do make for a light good-for-you snack, but the bars are somewhat lacking in taste. Unlike some of the varieties I have tasted from Quaker, the Kashi TLC Granola Bars failed to really satisfy my taste buds, or put a smile on my face.

The Kashi TLC Chewy Granola Bars do contain the company's trade mark "seven whole grains on a mission"...
...

I have always been a big fan of wheat cereals and when Fiber One came out with this one, I had to try it and a big WOW! It's not over sweetend with a very fresh wheat taste in every bite. This made me happy so I tried it out on my children and they choose it over the fruity cereals. With or without milk, milk cold and warm, morning, noon, or night, it's a smart and healthy choice especially with a serving of fruit. It's a calming thing knowing that you and your family are making and enjoying the right choices.
...

momswork2 says "Eating right cereals are good and healthy." about eating right sweeetened bran cereal with cranberries &almonds

I am picky about cereal. It has too be healthy and not too sweet. I really like the Eating Right cereals but especially the "sweetened bran with cranberries & almonds". I make my own granola frequently and like to mix it in with other cereals. This one is filled with cranberries and almonds to give it some chewy and crunchy texture. Some cereals claim to be healthy but are too sweet. This ine has 18 grams of sugar but allow a little more for the dried fruit. It is a ggod for you choice. I eat cereal after a run or workout for a nice protein and carb balance. I also have it for dessert! Also in the eating right cereal line is the muesli, which has a lighter flake that is not so crunchy. The corn flake tends to get a little bit soggy though. I like a crunchier flake like the bran flake that is very hearty in milk and does not get soggy. It is a nice mix of flakes in the muesli though with a variety of grains added to give it alot of differing tastes and textures. It has a mix of barley,...
...

brenviewer says "Chocolate Chex Cereal has become a staple in our house." about General Mills chocolate chex cereal

Chocolate Chex is a staple in my household. My wife or I will get 3 boxes at a time (using coupons of course), because they go so fast. My 2-year-old eats hers without milk. Being the health nut she is, she eats the chocolate-covered Chex and crushes the plain ones for floor distribution. At any given time, we've got tiny pieces of Chex cereal on the kitchen floor around her high chair. My two oldest use milk and eat all their Chocolate Chex.

I'm not a chocolate fan, and I don't eat the Chocolate Chex unless there's no other cereal, but I love the Strawberry and Cinnamon Chex. My wife also likes the fact that it's gluten-free, has whole grain, and doesn't have the sugar content of traditional kids cereals like Fruit Loops or CoCoa Puffs.

When I have eaten Chocolate Chex, I'm pleased that I'm not overwhelmed with chocolate. Some of the Chex are flavored and others are plain, giving you a hint of the flavor in each spoonfull. Not like a tease, though; more like moderation. ...
...

brenviewer says "My personal favorite of Chex brand cereals." about General Mills Strawberry Chex Cereal

Strawberry Chex is my favorite flavor in the Chex line of cereals. So far, we've had the Chocolate (which the kids love), Cinnamon, and Honey Chex. Still, I like strawberry in moderation, which makes Strawberry Chex even more attractive to me. There's a hint of strawberry, so you can appreciate it without being overwhelmed by it.

I've often heard about making trail mix with Chex, but not as often with Strawberry Chex. Chex.com has a page with dozens of recipes including Chex sushi??? Not something I'd try, but also not a possibility I was even aware of.

I'm a lazy eater, don't like to spend a long time to fix something I'm just going to eat anyway. So cereal in general is right up my alley. With Strawberry Chex, I've been known to go through a 13.5 ounce box in a few days.

Fortunately for me, my kids don't like Strawberry Chex very much. My teenager eats occasionally, but hey, more for me! Additionally, Chex are nutritious as well as delicious. With whole-grain, gluten-free,...
...
