Last year at age 39 my husband had a heart attack. He wasn't overweight, had quit smoking five years prior and was active. His cholesterol had been high and he got it under control with medication. Then wham!!! Just like that, it happened. — He had surgery and made a quick recovery. I attended some of his cardiac rehab classes with him and spent time with the nurses talking about dietary changes. — I was able to make a lot of changes, all of which he easily went along with....except..... — One of the suggestions they made was to switch to an egg alternative product. I made the recommendation to my husband and he sneered at the thought. He said, "An Egg in cardboard is not an egg". OK, this was going to be a little difficult. He loved having his eggs for breakfast. — He said since he cut down on so many other things, he could have eggs at least twice a week. I wasn't thrilled with it,...

This is the strangest looking cereal I have ever seen in my life. I received a free sample of it (I never would have bought it) and when I poured it in the bowl, everyone in the immediate area went, "ewwwwwwwww". It was so odd looking I almost threw it away without tasting it. It really looks like rabbit pellets. Yum. — Well, I have to say that it tasted better than I thought it would. It had a sweet taste, which surprised me. But I kept looking at it thinking, "I shouldn't be eating anything that looks like this." — I'm assuming it's called Probiotic Digestive Cereal due to the Seven Whole Grains and Sesame inside. But really, does anything with the words "Probiotic Digestive" really appeal to your sense of hunger. Or taste? The cereal has graham twigs (they actually call them twigs!), vanilla flavored puffed rice, toasted flakes, and (I SWEAR TO YOU) brocolli. Brocolli!!! You can't...

AnnaBanana says "Very high on the YUM meter!" about Lean Cuisine Baked Chicken Florentine

In my pleasant crusade to try all the Lean Cuisine products, I am gradually coming to the ones which I had saved for the last because I didn't really expect to like them all that much. A shining example of this is Lean Cuisine Baked Chicken Florentine, a veritable symphony of white meat chicken in a creamy spinach and Parmesan sauce with carrots and yellow peppers. I measure the success of dishes I try according to my own personal "YUM" meter -- how carefully I try to scrape up every delicious bit when I've finished eating. In the case of Lean Cuisine Baked Chicken Florentine, I not only scraped up every bit of goodness that I could but ... if I had not been a civilized mature woman ... I might have actually LICKED the dish itself. It was THAT good. — STATS: — This lovely "Comfort Classics" selection is a single serving containing only 200 calories with 70 calories from fat. There are eight total grams, two grams saturated fat, zero trans...

Snack food fall into the category of minimizing negative impact. Kids want things that are sweet, and crunchy, and fun and portable, and parents want to minimize excess sugars and preservatives, and fried food, and empty calories....Flat Earth has actually brought something to the table that makes both sides pretty happy. The Berry crisps were a big hit at our house flavor wise. A little bit sweet, a little bit tart and defnitely crispy. I found it kind of pricey to be offering on a regular basis-especially when my son can down a bag in what seems like seconds. It does make a nice change of pace treat, and an alternative to more harmful snack choices. Mom and Dad like them...

AWESOMEMOM88 says "Good, but the fruit varieties are better...." about Flat Earth - Baked Veggie Crisps

I love crispy types of snacks, and find the veggie variety to be a great alternative to potato chips (and ever since the British court case which excluded Pringles from the potato tax liability because it only has 40% potato-nobody is saying what else is in those little uniform crisps-I have really decided to cool the whole potato chip thing.) I didn't find the veggie flavor distinctive or reminiscent of a particular favorite veggie, it just tasted different than potato chips. The crispiness is great-so it does satisfy the need for a noisy crunchy snack. When I went back to the store to investigate other products in this line, I found a berry based crisp that I really adored, it combined crisp with sweet and tart and all the great things you would associate with fresh berries. There was also an apple cinnamon variety that had real baked apple flavor. My reason for preferring the fruit varieties over the vegetable is that the veggie left a kind of...

What is not to like....Ritz crackers are the best snacking cracker around, regardless of how you choose to top them or not, and then combined into a (lets face it, these are all kind of a new spin on the old Chex Mix standard) a wonderful snack medley...and yes, I do like the idea of portion control packages to limit the damage I can do to my diet with snacking, but...lets face it, crunchy snacks are like an avalanche picking up speed as it rolls downhill...I don't find the 100 calorie portion very satisfying. It is almost a tease. I found myself wanting to eat multiple packs which kind of defeats the purpose of portion control. So I can't fault the quality of the product in any way. Crispy, crunchy, with different textures and flavor variety along with the smooth buttery type of taste that we have all come to expect from Ritz crackers...And it would make a good lunch box stuffer for kids or adults. The individual portion packaging makes it a more costly...

My favorite food is pizza therefore, I have tried many brands. I enjoy going to pizzarias often but due to me being a mother of four and a teacher, I don't really have the time to go like I desire so I purchased many frozen pizzas.
Katrena says "Mott's Applesauce with Calcium is gluten free and casein free!" about Mott's - Harvest Apple Applesauce Plus Calcium

What a great idea! Mott's has put calcium in their applesauce and my kids will actually eat it. — Mott's Harvest Apple Applesauce Plus Calcium is an all-natural snack with no sugar added. It is also gluten free, casein free, soy free, and corn free. That's great news for a mom who has children with multiple food sensitivities. Applesauce is a great source of fiber, and I often use unsweetened applesauce in place of butter or margarine in my recipes since my children also have GERD (reflux). — The calcium-plus line also comes in two additional flavors: cranberry and pomegranate. — These come in 4-packs of 3.9 ounce cups. That's good and bad news. The good news is that they are easy to pack and go, which is essential for a mom on the go with three children. The bad news is that the four pack costs as much as the regular six packs from Mott's. It would also be great to have a large jar for an option on this since we go through applesauce by the truckload around here....

Confession: I hate water. Horrible, but true. As I child, I literally went years without drinking any, living off of milk, juice, and gallons of Koolaid. Now that I'm older, I do drink water (though much more sparingly than I ought to) but still spend a good deal of my grocery money on beverages that are always invariably either too watery to taste good, or so sugary they just make me thirstier. Then I discovered Vitamin Water's XXX, which I will admit I bought merely because I thought the blurb on the label was applaudably clever. I tasted it, loved it, and quickly started up a one-a-day habit. — True, there are a lot of calories for a beverage with "Water' in the brand name, but there's also a delightful amount of flavor. Definitely amazing. And at least somewhat healthy. — I've tried all, or at least almost all, of the flavors, and have to say this one is definitely my favorite. A lot of the others...

I'll eat just about anything chocolate, provided it has a coma-inducing amount of sugar in it (none of that pure, healthy, dark chocolate nonsense, please). So naturally, Oreos have long been one of my favorite foods, and I've enjoyed the endless variations that populate the grocery store shelves: peanut butter Oreos, double stuffed Oreos, pastel colored Easter Oreos. I bought a box of Oreo Cakesters the first time I saw them, and they now make a semi-regular appearance on the grocery list. They're good. Much better than most of the cakelike individually wrapped treats I've tried. I'd probably absolutely love them, except for one teeny problem... they're not really Oreos. There's nothing wrong with them - they taste delicious. But they just don't have the charm (or texture, or flavor) of the original, and I learned from personal experience they're not meant to be taken apart, licked clean of their frosting, and dipped in...

If you love the smell of fresh cinnamon buns from the mall foodcourt, you are going to love Entemann's Cinnamon Buns. They are so high in sweet flavor and taste exactly like the fresh treats baked in the mall. If you are watching your calories, don't even bother because these are well over 200 calories each and high in fat. But they are worth the splurge. The rolls are large in portion size and feature the sweet taste of ground cinnamon, fluffy cinnamon dough and sweet and creamy icing. These buns come in four packs for around $5 and are great for serving for breakfast or a delicious dessert treat. To serve, just microwave for 30 seconds and enjoy the hot taste of freshly baked cinnamon buns right in your kitchen. The aroma alone will make you swoon. These are a great treat, and taste just as good as those stores in the...

My hubby drinks a whole pot every morning before he leaves for work and the large plastic container usually lasts about 2 weeks so it is a good value oo.
